Hey everyone,
So Aladdin – and also Hercules – will have to take a backseat and wait their turn as this chapter is going to focus solely on the bond Jessica has with those that TRULY have her best interests at heart and who will not let ANYONE tell them otherwise or let others tell them that the others know better than them. This chapter, the sheep are going to get BASHED!
Sorry for the caps,

Chapter 46
A Mother At Work – With Friends

30th of January 1996
Great Hall, Hogwarts
James' POV

The silence in the Great Hall actually lasts for longer than I expected, but then this suddenly works to my advantage as, after a few minutes of everyone apparently having taken the time to take in the meaning behind my words and the implications behind the pictures, they respond. And almost nothing but negativity comes from all of them as they shout all kinds of insults and profanities.
There are only a few who don't, students that I realize must actually be friends with my little girl and who are looking at me in guilt, as if they think it's their fault that their House is behaving this way. This alone makes me want to glare at the Head Table and the fact that Minerva fakes to be shocked by the shouting for longer than she actually is doesn't help.
"Are you quite done?" Marcus then asks, me having spotted him sitting with the rest of the Hogwarts staff alongside my other two co-workers and while he doesn't raise his voice or shout, do I know that his special gift and talent allows him to be heard by everyone present. And this shocks the yelling, shouting, screaming student body so much, they gasp and turn quiet.
I myself take back the pictures and put them back in my pocket as I say: "Thank you, Marcus. And you lot – I am seriously debating whether or not we should even keep that offer open. Yes, there is a conflict going on between the Ministry and Dumbledore, one where certain parties are willing to have you all act as scapegoats to make the other submit, but your behavior isn't appealing to us either."

"Allow me, James." Lily says and just the look in her eyes says it all. I nod, but then turn to the body at large and says: "Before I let my sister tell you what you deserve to hear, I want to make one thing crystal clear. Those that did not shout, yell, or make utter fools of themselves – I do not consider you guilty of your House's appaling behavior. If anything, I commend you for not being like that. You are the reason I still believe in Hogwarts being a great school."
And with that do I step back and Lily steps forward. And already I know one thing. This isn't Lily Evans, the brightest witch of the Seventies, Lily Evans, who worked alongside Siri and me in our scheme to keep our bond a secret, Lily Potter, who took on the mother-role to my son or Lily Evans, the Charms teacher at Campbrina. This is Lillian Roseanna Potter, the Detention teacher of Campbrina school of the Wicked and the Gifted. And her tone proves this as she starts to speak.

Lily's POV

"Let me explain a few things about what will happen if you do, for whatever reason, decide to take us and Campbrina up on our offer to give you sanctuary against this ongoing battle. Where Hogwarts is a castle with a town beside it that is a settlement of its own, Campbrina is very different. It is a community all of its own with not one, but three towns surrounding it.
One town is meant for those that graduate and desire to stay upon Campbrina lands. One is for those who do so, but break Campbrina law as well as those who desire to uphold the law by becoming Aurors, Hit-wizards, judges, Court Scribes, Law attorneys, Law-Wizards, teachers of Law or Code Holders and Scribes. The third town – is for students who get suspended.
A suspension can last from one hour to an entire month. Now, because Campbrina has its rule system shared between the school and the three towns, instead of one set of rules counting for Hogwarts and one for Hogsmeade village, Campbrina has many, many more rules in play – and then I am not counting those new Ministerial Degrees." I say, filling my voice with contempt at the last two words.

I know this makes Umbridge glare at me, but I also know that Marcus is keeping her quiet for me and so I just go on. "Hogwarts has 211 rules. Campbrina – has 538 rules." Many mouths drop at this, but I go on and say: "However, there is much more that sets Campbrina apart from Hogwarts. The fact that it doesn't have Houses, for one. SILENCE!" I shout as many mouths opened in attempted protest.
Those that tried cower and quiet down and I glare at them, already knowing that Severus is smirking at me in enjoyment as I spot Draco Malfoy look at where I know he is seated with a dumbfounded look on his face, while he had also been one of the few that tried to protest. I want to roll my eyes at my old friend's pettiness, but just feel glad to have him on my side and simply go on.
"Another difference – I don't care, Umbridge. Shut it." I snarl at the woman as I notice one of the twins turning to grimace at her from the corner of my eye. "Another difference is the way that rules are upheld across the school and lands. Say you are near the Charms area and I spot you break a rule. Then I will be the one handing out your punishment. This because the Charms area is my area.
But if I were to spot you doing this in the Potions, ComC or Transfigurations area, I catch you and hand you over to the teacher in charge of that area. And before some of you self-absorbed students think you can use this to your advantage, let me burst that little bubble of yours. We have contracts that make us magically incapable of having favorites – and this includes family or offspring.

We can be protective and defensive if they are being wronged, but if they are the ones breaking the rules, we simply cannot, by magic, try to favor them or give them any punishment other than the one set for the rule they broke. And while suspension happens from time to time, has Campbrina not needed to expel a student in 67 years, which is longer than Hogwarts, just for the record."
This, I know, makes Hagrid rub the back of his head, but I ignore it and roll my eyes as I say: "Now, because I know Albus as well as I do, do I already know exactly what he is going to say to hold a hand above all of your heads. You're teenagers, you don't know any better, you had your hormones act before you could think. Yeah – no! I am a teacher myself, so I know teenagers well enough to know not to believe that.
I can read you lot, I can see when you are shocked and when you are thinking and so many of you were thinking before you opened your mouths. You thought your words and your statements through and you meant them. And with that you proved that you are willing to forget one vital warning that was given to you only a few hours ago.
You were warned, you were told that the time where you thought you could use Jessica Artemis Potter for your little plaything, your little scapegoat, your little punching bag – was over. And you ignored it. Because of this, I see no other option. Marcus, Alex, Brian, please come over here."

The three men – and James – do as said and we form a circle, each of us pointing the index and middle finger of our wand hand at the center of our circle and we chorus: "Mother, your family needs you." And the nails of our fingers light up, before the outline of the door to the Antechamber of the Great Hall does the same and from it, the Mother steps out.
"How did –?" Minerva tries, but I just send her a deadpan look, not at all impressed with her deciding to quit being shocked now and I state: "Campbrina magic. And let me make one thing clear to everyone, teachers and students alike. The Mother – exceeds Dumbledore in age by fifty years." Which makes quite a few jaws turn slack and the Mother giggles as she asks:
"Was that necessary, Lillian dear?" I shrug and James steps forward as he says: "Sorry for calling on you, Mother, but yes, Lillian making this clear to this student body and our current situation do make our every action quite necessary. Allow me to clarify." The Mother nods and James speaks

James' POV

"You know of the Blood Quill. You know that, upon us finding out about this, we took action and offered the victims the sanctuary that Campbrina is ordered by contract to offer. However, while I just got to spend some wondrous hours of quality time with my daughter, mate and her own mate, did these students reactions to that quality time – well, just take a look at these."
And I hand her the pictures, the woman's eyes widening when she sees the first and while she browses through them, does she ask: "Oh James, is this your little girl? Young Jessica? Oh, she looks just ethereal. This was a rehearsal, I presume? And that? I take it that is the mate you just mentioned? Oh, he looks everything your daughter needs for a prosperous future, I can tell."
I smile at her and say: "Mother, the fact that a woman who has never seen my child before these pictures reacts like this and that students who have known her for almost five and a half years react like a babbling, bumbling band of buffoons says quite a lot to me. I'm sorry, am I missing something?" I ask as the students standing with me suddenly snort.
"That's what McGonagall said last year when she taught us how to dance for the Yule Ball that was being held." Ron tries to say through his snorting and I roll my eyes as I say: "It's a well known saying, I guess. Still, I rest my case, Mother. And because of this, we are going to need your help. The help deserves to be offered, just not to everyone and not without proper introduction, testing and warnings being given out first."

However –." I make sure to send her a pointed look and I know that my colleagues already agree with me as I can tell her spotting this from the others as well before I turn to the students and say: "Those that were smart, loyal or caring enough – or better said, knew how to not behave far beneath their age – not to insult my daughter, I want to offer them the full offer of Sanctity, not just sanctuary."
The woman looks shocked and I turn to them again, spotting a boy with dread locks that is the twins' age, two girls that look to be my daugther's age, a girl Ginny's age and a few others, who I know kept quiet earlier on, as well as Dean and Seamus and I ask: "Tell me, what is your opinion on what you saw on those pictures." And it's one of the girls my baby's age that speaks up.

"If – If I may –." She starts and I give her a caring smile and encouraging nod as she says: "I – I'm not exactly close to Harry – and I only call her that because I never met her as Jessica – but I do share a dorm with Hermione and I always sat close enough I can consider myself, if nothing else, a witness to how he felt and looked as the years passed." I nod, accepting her explanation and she says:
"I'll be honest – Lord Potter – I – I've seen Harry happy before when he flies or enjoys a good class. I've seen him show a good sense of love and care when he is around his friends, especially either Ron or Hermione over there. But – but there – there was something coming – coming off those pictures – off of Jessica that – I never saw in Harry. Not once in four and a half years, but I – I just can't put my finger on what it is."
I smile at her as it's obvious that she is both confused with what it is that she is seeing, but also happy to see my little girl so happy and so in love and then the younger blonde girl who looks to be Ginny's age speaks up and says: "It's acceptance. Jessica radiates acceptance. Acceptance of who she is, who she is with, what her life is like now. She's not just happy, she's at peace."
I see the tanned girl look from her back to me and I carefully levitate one of the pictures over to her. The Asian girl seems to take a good look at that and then starts to nod before she says: "Yeah, that – that's it. Harry – he – he never got to fit in, not really. There were – there were always expectations. Things he needed to live up to, if only to keep others off his back. But Jessica – it's like she doesn't care for this, anymore."

"And that brings me back to what I said before. The time that my little girl is the Wizarding World's scapegoat is over. You have had your fun, you have had your enjoyment, you have had your little chances to make my child your scapegoat and, if some of you little bastards had your way, your bitch, but that time is O-V-E-R! OVER!"
And I make sure to put magical emphasis on my voice at the end, making the last word resonate through the entire Great Hall. I then turn to the Mother and say: "Mother, there are students here who need Campbrina, for their education, their mental health and their emotional state depend on it. In fact, what we recently found out – makes me fear for some of them."
The woman looks at me, curiously yet worriedly and I say: "In the last months of the school year of 1991-1992, students had turned on my child for losing 150 points without asking him how the points were lost. At the end of this, some of the elder ones were heard saying that they regretted the fact that, at the time, my child was male. Because of this, I fear for the female students who are just as popular – or at times – impopular."

And just from the corner of my eye, do I spot it. A few of the older female students, even two that are Sixth Year and have the Prefect Badge proudly displayed on their lapels, wince and try to change how they sit, as if my words remind them of a physical injury or discomfort and I know that Mother spots it as well as she turns to the students, anger and concern clear on her face.
"Lord Potter, enough!" Umbridge suddenly shouts and I send her an unimpressed look as I say: "No Umbridge. I will not stop. You have been here for five months, claiming that you are here to change things for the better, to improve Hogwarts and return it to its former glory. But just by glancing at the students and how out of order they are behaving, you've done no such thing.
If anything, the constant arguments, fights and need to prove superiority or that either of you is right, students have started taking sides and sides have become feuds and feuds have gotten people hurt. You are leaders. What you do effects those under you. You and Albus are just so focused on each other, you fail to realize this – or at least Albus does. You actively try to use them against him."
"YOU HAVE NOTHING! NOTHING TO PROVE! NO LEG TO STAND ON!" The woman shrieks, but I simply ask: "Angelina?" And the girl holds up her hand, me not even feeling guilty over the fact that we are using our own ruse against her. Yet then the woman proves just how power hungry, mad and dangerous she really is as she aims her wand at the girl and screams:

"Crucio!" Angelina freezes, fright and horror on her face, but Alex aims his wand and states: "prohibere tempus doloris." And while no light shoots from his wand, does the sick looking red curse get stopped and waver in mid air before dissipating with another wave of the man's wand, the curse itself only the length of a female hand away from the girl, who starts to hyperventilate and softly shriek as she realizes that she's been saved and that she won't experience such torture.
Instantly the Mother, Lily and Marcus are upon her, while I myself turn to Umbridge with furious rage in my eyes as Jessica told me that it was Angelina who helped her learn how to put on her bra and who bought her all kinds of proper undergarments, proving the two are truly close.
"She's mine." A voice suddenly says and I notice that Neville is standing beside me and the look on his face says it all. I step back and nod at him as he already has his wand in hand. Umbridge recovers as she sees me step back and turns to Neville as she says: "Mr. Longbottom, if you –." But the boy proves to be a true warrior as he doesn't yell or shout. Instead he just states his spells.
"Iisque obmutescere." This shocks me as that is actually a Longbottom specialty and one that only a few Longbottoms Heirs manage to learn and while I remember that Frank never managed it, does the spell have an instant effect. Umbridge is forced into her chair and her face, legs and wand arm all freeze up, cloths and flesh turning to stone as it happens.

Prohibere tempus doloris is Latin for Stop The Time Of Pain
Iisque obmutescere is Latin for Silence The Culprit

Some of the girls in the room shriek, but when one shrieks: "You killed her!" Do I retort: "No, he didn't. iisque obmutescere is a Longbottom specialty. It simply petrifies a culprit, which iisque is the Latin word for, and makes certain they can no longer be a threat. This spell is incredibly powerful, but also incredibly tricky." I then turn to Neville and say: "Frank never managed it."
And Neville sighs as he says: "I – I know." And I remember Albus telling me that Frank and Alice were attacked shortly after our clones were killed. I lie a hand on his shoulder and then whisper: "Perhaps the – advanced form of cure – can help their attempt to heal." And while the boy tenses, does he whisper: "I can only hope so." At which I nod before I step back.

I then turn to the students and say: "No, I do not expect Umbridge to stay as teacher for much longer, now that so many have seen her willingly cast an Unforgiveable – and please remember that there is power in numbers, at least in this case – but if Fudge tries to deny these claims or tries to put someone of the same behavior in Umbridge's place – remember the offer – and our warnings.
Normally, if a student is picked for Campbrina, they go through a three-step progress. Properly answering a pop-quiz, using the answers to reach Campbrina and proving they can keep secrets by remaining out of contact with their family for a month. You are spared this process, simply because of the contract, but that is the only bit of favoritism you will be able to expect of us.
If you wish to protect yourselves and your families from this, obviously, never ending hissy-fit – to put it lightly – you can. If you think you can use it to get something you have no rights to and which will only get you in trouble with both staff and the friends of staff, I advice you not to even try. And when I say try I mean trying to contact us about accepting this offer. We – will – know."
And just the way that the Weasleys and Jess' other friends come to stand behind me, the way that I now have Lily on my left and the Mother on my right and the other staff members beside them, do I know that my message is being brought over quite strongly, that the students are being proven, once and for all, that we mean what we say and that we are a united front on these statements.

Well done, James.
So yeah, The Mother has now entered Hogwarts and Umbridge – will not be leaving Hogwarts anytime soon. Sorry, but I have other plans with her. Plans that, while they will keep her from the students, also require her to remain at Hogwarts. And unfortunately, Fudge is going to use Snape to get his way and see this done.
Needless to say, that is going to cause quite a bit of change in the atmosphere at Hogwarts as well as the general belief among the students. However, there will still be four sides at the school for a little while longer. James' party, Dumbledore and his staff, Fudge and his followers and finally the students that support/fight and/or believe/disbelieve in Jessica/Harry.
I am putting these last two together like this as that, together with James' party, will be what I will focus on whenever I go back to Hogwarts. Something that will probably not happen for a few more chapters as we are going back to Jessica next chapter. And while I planned to have Aladdin and Hercules in the December chapter, did they have to wait a little longer.
Oh well,
