Here is the next chapter. For the entrance to Ravenclaw house and indeed the Ravenclaw dorms I changed how you enter them because I felt like it. Yes it's different but that's just because I felt like a change was in order. Please read and review it and we'll see where it goes. Love Moon xxx

Soon enough the deserts were finished and the tea all drunk. At this point Dumbledore once more approached the podium as everyone listened to him once more. "Everyone I wish to apologise for my conduct earlier tonight. I only got annoyed Mr Potter wasn't listening to me because what I was saying was important and he might have ended up hurt if he didn't hear it something I cannot allow. I will now invite you all to stand as we sing the schools anthem. Please pick any kind of tune you like and go at your own pace!" he said as everyone stood up all singing differently and at different paces. It sounded like a train wreck and Harry could feel his headache coming on. Eventually everyone stopped except for who he assumed were the Weasley twins who insisted at going at the pace of a funeral march to his ire.

He was exhausted and couldn't wait to go to sleep. He didn't have time for that kind of fuckery as Vernon sometimes called it. He was so impatient for anything though when he was tired. It wasn't truly their faults however as they were the reason he was delayed they'd experience his ire tomorrow for sure. "Well done everyone, well done. Ah music a magic beyond all we teach here. I can see now that we are all fed and watered and it is time we were off to bed. Prefects please escort the first years to their houses without detours. In the morning your class schedules will be passed out to you. Goodnight now off to bed pip, pip!" he said as everyone regarded him weirdly for it something which went unnoticed by him thankfully lest he cause another scene. Penelope Clearwater and Roger Davies stood addressing the first years.

"I am Penelope Clearwater and this here is Roger Davies. We are your prefects and it is our job to help you with anything you should need. We wear these badges on our robes with a golden p on them in case you should forget who we are so we are easy to find. Please follow us all of you as we lead you to the Ravenclaw common room" she instructed walking out of the great hall doors while Roger brought up the rear to be sure all of the first years were with them. On the way up the hallway they passed an irate ginger prefect of Gryffindor who kept on screaming at the first years to hurry up as he rushed them to their new home for the next seven years. Harry saw him and burst out laughing as he looked so comically angry. Penelope turned looking at him seriously before seeing what he was laughing at and then proceeding to laugh herself.

"Yes that's Prefect Percy Weasley for Gryffindor. He's a bit of a stickler for the rules and getting any time he can to himself for study. He's not the most patient either. I mean don't misunderstand me as prefects we should be sticklers for the rules on principle alone but us Ravenclaws do know how to have fun as well. Come on this way please!" she said leading them up the stairs and then turning right while Percy and his charges turned left. They walked along all pausing to admire the different moving portraits and staircases which the prefects were more than happy to indulge. Professor Flitwick usually allotted twenty five minutes for his Ravens to arrive at the common room the first night because they often had so many questions to ask his prefects and so much to see that it took that little bit longer. As an example Gryffindors were never given so much time to see anything and simply expected to shut up and get on with it not a good quality to have. Eventually they arrived at the sixth floor and walked down the hallway to the end where they could see a spiral staircase.

"Now everyone as you can see here we have a spiral staircase however once we step through this archway it disappears. That was a confusion mechanism designed by Rowena Ravenclaw herself so the house couldn't easily be found!" she said stopping inside the initially small looking tower which now seemed anything but small. Harry was confused. If there was no stairs then how did they reach their common room? It was then that he saw a lever in the wall which she gently pulled as soon as they were all standing in the same area. Once she pulled the lever the round large base of the tower floor raised itself up slowly finally stopping at a huge door which had no handle or key holes. In fact it had nothing except for a large eagle shaped bronze knocker on it.

"From outside we only see the staircase to prevent others from finding the true entrance to our common room. Even if someone passes the archway if they are not from our house they will see nothing and will be magically prompted to leave again. To gain entrance to our house we must knock on the knocker once and wait. It will ask us a question which we must answer correctly to gain entry to the house. If we do not know the answer we won't be granted entry until someone either leaves the house or someone with the right answer comes to enter with you. Kevin if you would please knock on the door!" Roger said as an excited Kevin Murphy knocked once on the door using the large knocker which opened it's eyes with a large smile.

Tell me what starts somewhere but has no ending? The door asked as everyone thought about it.

"The answer is a circle sir. It must start somewhere but then just goes round and round!" said Harry as it nodded at him.

Well done. You are correct. Please enter!

With that the door swung open. Harry entered the dome shaped room and gasped at its beauty. It was tall and dome shaped and it's walls were covered with some sapphire blue coloured paint which was designed with golden zodiac and constellations painted on top of it. There were four large and angled windows which gave a view of the lake, forbidden forest, greenhouses and quidditch pitch respectively. If Harry had to guess he would say that his house had the best views of any other house in the school. The room contained two large alcoves to the back filled with books. To one side of the room was a large roaring fire with a huge statue of Rowena Ravenclaw wearing her famous diadem over it! Around the room were various table and chair settings for studying and doing homework while many royal blue and silver coloured couches and armchairs were placed all around the room. It looked divine and truly breath taking. The ceiling contained a large celestial designed chandelier and it appeared to be designed to show the stars of the night sky too.

"Welcome everyone to our common room. It is as you can see beautiful. We do boast some of the most incredible views from our windows compared with any of the other houses in the school. There are plenty of books to read here on any of the couches or armchairs and plenty of desks are provided for your homework and study needs!" said Roger as they all looked around in awe. He gave them a moment to admire everything before continuing.

"As you can see there are no doors here to take you to your rooms as we enter them the same way as we access the door to our house. Over here in this alcove the boys go and the girls go over there in that alcove. You cannot accidentally enter the wrong dorms as it will not move for you if you are accidentally in the wrong place which can happen from time to time. When you are ready to go to your dorms you press your finger onto any number from one to seven on this wall parchment here and then pull the lever to the side of it and it will take you to the dorms at that level. Level one is for first years and so on. It is most logical to do things this way. Ah Professor here are the first years!" he said as Professor Flitwick walked in and smiled at them all. He was a relatively short but exceptionally jovial looking man.

"Welcome to Ravenclaw house everyone. I trust the prefects have done a good job of showing you around. Firstly I should point out that no one who is not part of this house may enter it unless it is another head of house for emergent reasons only. Before any of you ask the headmaster may not enter this house as he is not another head of house. If he needs someone he will ask for them using me. Now on to the rules of this house. Each house has its own internal rules and that's fine but I only care about the rules of my own house!" he said as everyone regarded him seriously. Harry thought that having internal rules for their house alone was a very intelligent thing to do.

"Rule number one is to do anything you do intelligently. Rule number two is to always ask for help if you are even slightly unsure about how to do something. Rule number three is to be approachable to all members of the school in all that you do. Rule number four is to remember that you are learning and no question will ever be deemed as stupid. These are the rules which I feel people from every house should follow even if they are specific to my house!" he said as Harry mentally processed what he had heard nodding.

"Now of course there are more rules specific to Ravenclaw house itself. Bullying is not tolerated in this house in any form. That includes emotional, mental or physical bullying. People are to be allowed to learn and grow at their own pace and no one is to judge or complain to or about others to anyone else. We don't care and we don't want to hear it. Lights out here at 10 pm on weekdays and 11 thirty pm on weekends. Our school has a curfew at night meaning that no one is to be outside of their houses after ten pm unless they have a note from a teacher or Madam Pomfrey explaining why they are out after hours. My office is located on the fifth floor beside the statue of Winifred the Bewildered. If you need me you'll always find me there. Also I'm always here each evening for two hours to offer homework or study help to you. Goodnight!" he said with a smile as Harry approached him happily.

"Good evening sir. I wondered if I might ask you something. This room is divine by the way!" he said as in utter awe as Filius chuckled at him. Most first years reacted that way when they first saw it. He always loved their innocence.

"Yes of course Mr Potter. I am glad you like it so much" he said as Harry seemed to perk up at the possibility of getting answers. In fact he was so excited he was almost jumping up and down on his feet. Filius noticed this and chuckled.

"I love the portraits sir they're so cool. I wondered if I could do one myself for my aunt at some stage to give her for Christmas. Maybe if I could somehow learn how to enchant it I could communicate with her through it and wouldn't need to send so many letters to her. What do you think? Do you think I can do it sir?" he asked as Filius gasped in shock. No one had ever asked him that before.

"Five points to Ravenclaw for such intelligent thinking. Most portraits which can communicate with people in different places have someone dead painted in them. As for someone living doing it I've honestly never tried that before but then again no one has ever asked me that before either. Let me look into it and I'll get back to you on it. It might take me a few weeks though. Goodnight Mr Potter!" he said with a smile.

"Goodnight sir and thank you!" he enthused going over to the specified area where he could find his dorms. He pressed on the number one and pulled the lever as the platform he was on sunk down slowly eventually coming to a stop at a hallway with various doors in it. Ravenclaw didn't have traditional dorms. They instead had rooms in which two people would room together all year long. Each room had its own bathroom which the two people had to share. He walked down the hallway looking at the plaques on the doors until he found the one with his name on it in the middle. Beside his name was the name Terrence Boot. He'd not seen that boy at the feast because he'd been sitting up a few seats on the same side of the table as him.

He opened the door and entered it gasping at the beauty within. It was very large and contained two double canopy beds with silver bed frames and curtains on the outside and teal blue bedding on the inside. They both had four pillows and each area beside the bed contained a small desk and chair for studying or doing homework privately, his own armchair and a small dresser for his clothes and things. His trunk was placed neatly at the foot of his bed. On the ceiling above his bed was the constellation for Leo his own zodiac sign which he found most cool. Terry had one above his bed as well only his was in the shape of Sagittarius his own zodiac sign. Percy was lounging in the middle of his bed feeling very content with herself.

Terry emerged from the bathroom smiling at him. He was wearing pyjamas and looked thrilled to be there.

"Oh hello Harry. I'm so honoured to meet you and share my room with you too. It's pretty cool. Can I be a jerk and say I hope you're not as stuck up as you seemed in those children's books I read as a child?" he asked as Harry laughed.

"Hello Terry. I hope you don't mind me calling you that as a nickname. As for those books they weren't at all real and I didn't know anything about them until someone else informed me about them. I'll be looking into that in the future you can be sure of that. I'm delighted to make a new friend myself. This here is Persephone or Percy my familiar!" he said gesturing to Percy whom Terry hadn't even seen yet.

"Oh she's precious. Yes of course you can call me Terry I like that and I'm glad we can be friends too. This here is my own cat Amira. I heard the name once on the radio and it always stuck with me. Well I'm off to bed now and thanks for all the help with the house elves. I am delighted to have one of my own as it will really help. I'm a half-blood myself so having her help will be wonderful!" he enthused getting into bed Amira cuddling into his side. She was a gorgeous Russian Short hair blue cat.

"Goodnight Terry and you're welcome" he said feeling exhaustion come over him. He seemed to blink and be totally dressed for bed thanks to Minnie. It was wonderful. He fell into the super comfortable bed and was asleep in moments. What a great day it had been.
