Divide et Impera CH 1 Rewrite

It was with a thundering boom inside the Alliance Vessel that its comparatively giant spinal mounted railgun spat out a car sized round with a fraction of the speed of light, hitting a Turian Cruiser straight on, its winged form crumpling in on itself after the projectile smashed the shield into pieces, its mass effect core going critical and blowing a second later, taking the entire crew of the Ship with it.

This Turian Cruiser, the "Protector of Palaven" was part of the first fleet to arrive at Shanxi after the Turians destroyed a Sol Alliance's research Vessel outside of a Mass Relay the Alliance activated, illegally in Citadel Space, which they ofcourse did not know.

The Systems Defence Fleet around Shanxi was comprised of comparatively old Ships, older "Bulldog" Class Frigates, a few "Spear" Class Cruisers and a single "Dagger" Class Artillery Cruiser as its Flagship. The "Shanxi's Thrust" was also the Vessel that marked the first military kill of a Turian Vessel by a Alliance Vessel and with it the start of the first contact war.

Where Turian Vessels relied on fast shooting Mass Accelerators and Shields, the Sol Alliance used Element Zero exclusively in the Civilian Sector, their Ships looking more liked really pissed off blocks with Railgun Rails sticking out the sides, two to a Ship normally except specialized Ships like the Dagger Class which are smaller in size, less armored and look much more like wedges, except ofcourse with a large spinal mounted railgun.

These Ships never used Mass Effect Technology, instead utilizing Fusion Reactors, heavily armored, barely shielded due to energy constrains but monstrously damaging, especially with specialty ammunition causing troubles for the Council Fleets.

The Space Battle above Shanxi was damaging to Turian Morale above expected loss rates even if, after hours of battling 14 Alliance Vessels lay in scraps, scuttled or destroyed, with losses on the Turian side mounting up to 37 Vessels, with the biggest loss being a heavy battlecruiser, just under the tonnage of a Dreadnought dying massed fire of railguns, both by Alliance Ships and defense stations.

If the Space Battle was difficult, the Ground Invasion was an absolute disaster.

Shanxi, being a frontier world had a Planetary Shield utilizing its own fission reactors making it almost immune to orbital strikes, atleast from the Turian fleet in space, their numbers dwindled and heavy hitters destroyed.

Turian reinforcements wouldn't arrive until almost an entire day later which was too long for them since they were sitting in the Alliances frontyard and the 1st and 2nd Alliance Vanguard fleets were already scrambled, not high in numbers but its Sailors some of the most elite and their Ships all atleast above Heavy Cruiser classification.

So the Turians did the thing they were best at, they landed their Troopships, disembarked and started a bloody ground campaign against the Humans, and bloody it was.

When the Turians landed they landed almost unassailed, but soon meeting heavy dug in resistance in the form of Sol Army forces in heavy trench systems, armed in the Armies customary armored exoskeletons, unshielded but like the Ships heavily armored and armed with hand held rail rifles, slow firing but disgustingly effective, firing metal spikes at high speeds to punch through armor.

The Turians were comprised of normal Forces and parts of the Armiger Legion, heavy assault troops that tried to storm Human lines over and over again, only to be thrown back into the landing zone, after hours of fighting though, they finally had a breakthrough, Humans retreating under fire leapfrogging backwards to the next trench systems and then bombing the now Turian occupied trenches with heavy artillery.

Private Neumann, was a simple reservist and possibly the most important loss of the Shanxi Ground Campaign, he, with his Squad was giving covering fire from his Trench when Turian artillery hit, throwing him to the ground, barely getting up in time to send a rail spike through an Armigers chest who was jetpacking into Human lines, ready to smash him into paste, Neumann was helped up by a large gauntleted hand, belonging to Master Sergeant Hawk, one of the vaunted N-X Series Marines, whereas normal Soldiers and reservists had few genemods, improving their immune system, strength and reaction times to just a tad above human optimum, N-Series and the other special forces were heavily augmented with the N-X being the most elite, only 50 of them being on Shanxi thanks to a training excercise together with Reservists and Army Soldiers.

Hawk shouted for a ceasefire, both to his own forces and Turians who amusingly enough complied, Hawk clambered up over the Trench Lip, starting to shout loudly, enhanced by his Helmets speakers.

"Turians! Your Invasion of Shanxi is something I dislike immensely! I would advise you to leave, and if you do, we might not wreck your shit today!"

There was a loud laugh emanating from the Human Trenches right before a sniper projectile pinged of Hawks helmet, snapping his head back and ricocheting straight into Neumann's throat, piercing the bodysuit under the heavy armor.

It took seconds for an Answer, Hawk staring down at the gurgling form of Neumann, looking into his eyes with the blazing green eyes of his Spartan like T-Visor, shoulders sagging and subvocalizing a command into the N-X battlenet, the other 49 Paladins clambering up over the trench lips, each one heavily armored and customized.

"Turians...That was possibly the worst decision you could have taken..." Hawks voice was hard and sombre then became louder and louder.

"These fucking Birdfaced cunts killed on of our own! A citizen of the Sol Alliance! A Brother in Arms!" Hawk brought up the file of Neumann on his HUD and raised his Omnispear, a large railcannon attached to the haft, activating his Omnishield on the other hand, a large rounded variant, while the other Paladins activated their own Omnisystems, from Axes to Swords and Bows, omni fabricators giving their thick helmets long wings attached to the front acting as Omniarmor.

"For his Sister Eleanor, his Parents Sam and Scott and his Daughter Maria! Rip! TEAR! KILL!"

The scream was echoed by the other 49 Paladins as they started to glow green with their ascendant biotic powers before as one, executing a biotic charge with the force of a charging 300 kilo armored rhino, the Turian line crumbling under the punishing assault, the Turian Sniper that killed Neumann being the first Turian to die to the Paladins, Hawk personally aiming a spike from his railcannon through his Torso, the large anti vehicle projectile ripping the Turian apart in a spray of blood and intestines.

With the Paladins charge the Army charged aswell, Omni Bayonets activated as they set upon the Turians with a vengeance.

Only when the Asari Ambassador managed to talk down the Turians and Humans hours later as she came with Turian Reinforcements did they stop, Turian losses mounting over a hundred thousand, with the entire 219th Armiger Legion lying dead Humans losses amounted to 12 N-X Paladins, taken out with extreme prejudice, over nine thousand Army Soldiers and Reservists dead and only a few hundred civilians dying.

Humanity had shown the Council it was not to be fucked it, hiding the fact that the Sol Alliance, for all its strength was a wounded beast, wounded by civil wars just years prior, that was still tiny, with twenty planets to its Name and each ship loss being an actual important loss in the Human Fleets.

Now it was on to the Diplomatic part, Humanity sending Ambassador Stein to the Citadel upon the "Chariot of Destruction" a 'Claymore' class Battleship, a large two kilometer long avatar of destruction with 4 Super Heavy Railguns and countless Rockets, Torpedoes and CWIS systems installed on its hull, the prominent Battleship of the Alliance, and with Stein, a unit of N-X Wardens headed by a Commander Shepard.
