Hey everyone! Guess who just got back from cruising the Caribbean!? This guy! Woot woot! Sorry to leave you all on such a clliffhanger last time! Mailbox Time!

Mr. Ursine: Yes, queue the music.

SteinMon1920518: I'm not ashamed to admit it either. I love writing wacko scenes like that. I'm grateful for the great comments. Thank you.

LIONESS STEPHANIE: Dang, I hope it was one hell of a reread. Thanks for your support!

Pixel-Pie02: You're right about the alarm clock. It was a rather subtle hint as to who it was meant to wake up. Oh, and sorry to leave you stewing for over a week bro. I know it was just your birthday recently, but lets be honest, some of the best chapters come after stewing for a while. Am I right, or am I right? Thank you!

Golem XIV: That would make for a hilarious fanfic there. Garfield getting a cold from taking cold showers, and then having to explain to Raven why he got sick. And yes, I know I'm evil. I got my P.H.D. in Hell, MI.

shugokage: Thank you!

Eris: You shall find the answers you are looking for.

Scarease: Is it just Superman...

nw150: Yes. I'm not ashamed to say I like putting readers in suspense.

black blood night13: Sorry. I'm not quite sure if this is longer or not. I generally try to put a few scenes into a chapter.

neslykoki: I honestly don't mind Espanol or English amigo. I know a little Spanish, and what I don't know I translate over. I'm glad you're enjoying it though. And thanks for the comment man. I hope you find and read some great stuff here in the fandom.

100PercentBadAss: Dude, glad to hear! I hope this chapter satisfies.

Guest: Thank you kind guest! I know what you mean. I reread the beginning and I wish that I just used a little less on some things there. And I noticed the dude commentary. I tried to cut down on it this chapter. I was trying to correct from Beast Boy never really saying it much before earlier in the fanfic. I don't know if I can apologize for the author commentary though. I just do random things like that sometimes just to experiment with something different. I am, however, trying to not put in my comments too much like I did in the beginning of the story. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the chapter!

: Those are honestly some cool facts there. And don't worry, we'll probably see later if Beast Boy can take him or not.

Disclaimer: Let me just say, DC should really hire me to be a scriptwriter for these two characters. Because if I owned them, it'd be hilarious what I'd put them through in any comic or show.

Chapter Thirty-Four: The Hunt Is On

A couple minutes later

The scene showed the inside of a store. It kind of looked like a Walmart with the low prices and special deals on the shelves all around. It was organized differently though, and it wasn't as large. It looked more like a normal town grocery store. Still, a surprising amount of people were inside the building; pushing their carts between the aisles, getting their groceries or perusing the shelves...

Plop! Plop! Plop!

The inside of an almost full cart was shown.

"Let's see, canned corn check. Canned peaches, check. Pancake and waffle mix, check. Maple syrup..."

Thunk!

A large bottle of maple syrup landed in the cart.

"Check. Gotta have that maple syrup with the waffles. Otherwise Rae would murder me in my sleep."

Garfield stood next to the almost full cart. He was reading a list of supplies that he and his friend needed in his hands.

"Alright what else is there... Ketchup, check. Strawberries and raspberries, check. Tomatoes and peppers, check.-" He was saying as he checked off the items.

Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!

Garfield looked up in surprise. The whole top part of the cart was now filled with packages of bacon. Thick frozen strips of them. Garfield's eyes bugged out when he saw all the bacon.

"Bacon, check, check, check." Rachel said with the hint of a smirk on her face as she sidled up to the other side of the cart.

Garfield looked up incredulously at Rachel over his grocery list. "Rae, don't you think that's too much bacon?" Garfield asked.

Rachel crossed her arms in front of her. "There is no such thing as too much bacon Gar." She said flatly. The shirt she was currently wearing said, "That's too much bacon (said no one ever)."

Garfield stared a few seconds more, and then he grumbled to himself. He looked back down at the list again. "I knew I shouldn't have made you that bacon several months back." He said grouchily.

Rachel rolled her eyes. "Just hurry up. I want to get this all now so we can put as much distance between us and Superman as possible." She said quietly as she looked around the aisle around them. A few other shoppers were nearby getting what they needed off the shelves. It looked like none of them had heard her quiet comment, or were paying them much attention.

"Okay okay, cheese check. Salad check. Bacon..." Garfield glanced down at the cart. "Double check." He said grouchily.

"I swear there's something I'm missing dude..." Garfield's eyes moved quickly over the list, and then they widened. "Oh yeah. We still need my tofu." Garfield said with a face palm.

Rachel put her hand to her face. Not in a face palming motion, but in an 'are you kidding me?' notion.

"Are you sure they have tofu here Gar? You have plenty of other things to eat in there." She suggested.

Garfield lowered the list and glared at her. "Well do you need anything to eat other than bacon Rae?" He asked.

Rachel's face remained calm. "Touche." She replied.

Garfield immediately turned the cart around. "If it's fair for you to get all that real meat Rae, then it's fair that I get my fake meat." Garfield said.

Rachel still had a plain look on her face. "Whatever." She muttered.

The pair came out from the second to last side aisle at one end of the store. There was a good open space there in the front, part of which was filled with shoppers that were waiting in lines to buy their groceries. The two were about to turn to go down the last aisle next to them.

Thmmm.

The doors at the front of the store slid open. Garfield looked, and then his face blanched.

"Uh-oh." He said.

Rachel looked over to see what it was.

Whoosh!

Rachel was swooped away surprisingly behind the aisle. The cart was left out in front of the shelving of the second to last aisle.

Clark Kent, now donned in his civilian attire and glasses, walked into the store. His rather big and imposing figure caught the eyes of some of the people. But it was mere glances, without any sign of recognition from any of them. The shoppers continued on as usual.

'It's funny. To believe my identity could be given away just by me taking off these glasses.' Superman thought to himself as he adjusted his glasses.

After he had walked past the registers, he scanned the groups of people around him. His sharp eyes seemed to peer into the souls of everyone.

'Those two have to be here somewhere... this is one of the only places in town to stock up for a journey... I just hope they aren't who I think they are.' He thought to himself.

Superman walked to the other end of the store. A sign showing a great deal for tofu hung on that end. He walked up into the aisle and disappeared.

Just a few seconds after, Garfield and Rachel popped their heads back out from behind their cover. "On second thought, I don't think I'll get tofu here." Garfield said as his hand gripped the cart.

"It looks like getting tofu anywhere would be a bad idea." She said.

"Probably right."

The two of them headed over towards the cash register lines. "Maybe portaling us outside the town after leaving also wasn't my best idea." She said plainly.

Garfield looked ahead of them, seeing the long lines for all the different cashiers. He groaned to himself. "Aw dude, he'll be able to look through the whole store and the rest of town for us at the rate they're moving." He moaned to himself.

"Do you think we should abandon the cart and try a different town to get our supplies Gar?" Rachel asked.

Garfield continued to look. He wanted to say yes, but his stomach was saying: "No, you already skipped breakfast! You are not skipping lunch on us too!" His stomach was making quite the valid argument, but he didn't see how it was possible for them to stock up here.

Then he saw something out of the corner of his eyes. There was another store cashier employee walking towards an empty cashier register lane that was closed.

"Quick. This might be our golden ticket out of here." Garfield said to Rachel quietly before he raced their cart around the lines of people waiting at the other cashier areas.

"What, Gar-" Rachel said as she followed along right behind. Then she saw what Garfield had seen, and a look of hope came onto her face. All of the people there didn't seem to notice the possible opening of another cashier area.

That is, until it was far too late.

The lady employee had no sooner taken the lane closed placeholder off her work area when Garfield parked his cart next to it. The blonde cashier looked up at him in surprise.

"Sorry dude, we were just in a hurry-" Garfield started.

"-and we noticed you opening up this spot-" Rachel said as she appeared next to him.

"And we really need to get going-" Garfield continued.

"As fast as you can." Rachel finished.

The cashier, who looked like she had just graduated High School, started to smile. "Aw (probably awing at the fact that they were finishing each other's sentences), there's no need to be sorry. I'll help out right now." She said happily.

Garfield heaved a sigh of relief. "Thanks dude. You're a life saver." He said as he started putting items from the cart next to the cashier. He was in such a hurry, he probably wasn't registering that he was touching dead meat packages with his bare hands.

Boop! Boop! Boop!

By the time the girl was scanning the items and putting them in plastic bags, another long line of people had formed behind Garfield and Rachel. The people grumbled to themselves at having missed such an oppurtunity. Some of them wished the store would add a self check-out so they could more easily get their single carton of milk or whatever and not have to wait behind people with so many groceries.

However, one other hidden benefit happened with all the people in the way. They saw Superman step out from behind an aisle on the other side of the store. However, he didn't notice them with all the people in the way, and had continued up another aisle in his civilian disguise.

'It's about time we got some luck on our side.' Garfield thought.

'I agree.' The Beast replied.

Boop! Boop! Boop!

The cart was almost empty after what felt like an eternity, and started the process of being filled with bags full of groceries instead.

"So what are you two doing with all this stuff?" The cashier asked curiously as she placed the groceries in various bags.

Garfield and Rachel quickly looked at each other. "Well, um..." Garfield started nervously.

"It's kind of hard to explain that without giving too much information away." Rachel said next as one of her hands nervously went for the hood that wasn't there. It was kind of an involuntary action on her part.

The girl looked up when Rachel did that, and her eyes landed on her ring finger. "Wait a moment..." She said.

Garfield was setting a gallon of soymilk on the cashier area, when she grabbed his left hand. Garfield almost eeped when she brought his hand to her face and quickly examined the ring on his left ring finger.

"I don't believe it..." She said to herself as she let it go.

Garfield took his hand back, and Rachel looked very nervous. They started to shrink a little bit.

'Aw dude. Please don't tell me she actually knows what these rings are.' Garfield thought.

'If she's a fangirl of the Titans... then we're toast...' Rachel thought.

The girl finally looked up at them. "How long have you two been engaged?!" She asked excitedly.

Rachel was blown away by the question.

"Um..." She tried to say.

'IS THIS GIRL NUTS!?' Rachel thought to herself.

'If only it was true.' Happy said dreamily.

'That would be sweet!' Brave said excitedly.

'It'd be a dream come true.' Love said with a sigh next to Happy.

'I'd finally have Beast Man all to myself.' Lust said huskily.

If Rachel was blown away by the peanut gallery, the move Garfield did next probably leveled part of the town. His arm went over her shoulder, and held her close. An awkward smile came onto his face.

"Darn, I guess our cover was blown Rae." He said in an almost forced voice.

Rachel was silent. A blush that was brighter red than anything she could have imagined was filling her cheeks.

Boop! Boop! Boop! "Eep!-"

The cashier girl eeped excitedly for them as she continued scanning the items and filled their cart with their groceries at a quicker pace.

"Sorry, but Omg! I'm so excited for you two! When were you engaged?! When's the wedding date? Are you getting married here, or at someplace really fancy? Those were some pretty fancy rings, so I'd guess somewhere really fancy like New York, or Hollywood..." The girl continued to excitedly talk about the two of them.

Garfield grinned a very wide grin, and rested his head against Rachel. "Yeah, we got engaged last week. And we were thinking of sealing the deal somewhere in the mountains." He said offhandedly. 'I really hope she doesn't kill me for this one.' Garfield thought to himself.

'Our mate wouldn't kill us for this master... but if she did, at least we would die happy after cuddling with her this way.' The Beast spoke in his mind.

Rachel somehow found it within herself to force a smile, and one of her hands grabbed one of his hands. What later would be known as the Raven grip of death was then started as she directed the powers in her emotions to strengthen her grip exponentially. "So as you can tell, me and my love are in a hurry." She managed to grit out in a somewhat normal tone.

The cashier girl almost eeped again at the use of the word love. Garfield just simply grinned wider as he felt Rachel voicing her displeasure into his hand. "Yeah. Please hurry it a little. We just need this stuff so we'll be able to enjoy our honeymoon in our mountain cabin without having to take a break to get supplies." Garfield made up on the spot.

His hand almost got destroyed when he mentioned the word honeymoon. 'YEOWWWWWWWW!' Garfield thought mentally.

'...Maybe you might get our mate to kill us master.' The Beast said.

The cashier quickly finished the last item and placed it in it's bag. She looked at the shelf behind her.

"I noticed you didn't have any condoms or anything. Are you sure you won't want some form of protection when you two are married?" She asked.

'Where is a freaking hood when you need one to hide under?!' Rachel thought to herself. Her skin color actually appeared far more normal now with how quickly the blood was rushing through her face.

Garfield continued to grin, and he somehow released his hand from Rachel's death grip. He hoped the rings would hide the bruises on his hand. "Sorry, we were planning on starting our big family right after we got married. We really want to raise our own little kids. So no protection please." He said as he held both his hands up in polite gesture to the cashier.

'Might as well go big or go home, right?' He thought.

'… I'll be digging my hole to hide in master. Let me know if you live or not.' The Beast said, before his presence retreated.

Rachel's head slowly moved to face him.

'Did he just say what I thought he said?' Rude asked in disbelief.

'Eeeeeeeeeeeee!' Love was freaking out. Happy was freaking out next to her.

Garfield looked down at Rachel with his large grin still plastered on his face. "Right honey?" He asked.

If glares could kill, Garfield would have been dead about a million times over. "Yes dear. Our big, happy, family." Rachel gritted out.

The cashier girl clasped her hands happily in front of her. "Awwww, how romantic." She sighed happily as she quickly pulled up the bill for them.

Rachel looked down at her bag and quickly pulled out some money from inside. Garfield let his arm drop from her shoulder and made sure everything was in the cart.

"Your total will be $249-" The cashier was saying.

Wham!

Rachel immediately slapped three one hundred dollar bills in front of her. "Keep the change." Rachel said quickly.

The girl blinked in surprise. "Why, that's really generous of you-" She was saying.

"Oh, we don't need the receipt either. Got plans and everything you know." Garfield interrupted, before he winked at the cashier.

The girl quickly nodded, and grabbed the cash. "Okay then, I won't hold you two lovebirds up anymore! Hope you two have a great life together!" She said excitedly to them as they hurried off with their cart.

'I'm going to kill him for this. I'm going to kill him a million times over.' Rachel thought darkly to herself as she walked beside Garfield.

'But he's one of the few people I don't want to kill!' Rage responded angrily.

'I'm going to torture him for this then. Slowly, and painfully.' Rachel thought in frustration.

'… Maybe we're getting somewhere now...' Rage replied.

'As long as I get to choose the torture!' Lust said.

*Runs away from potential thought process* (Nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. Just, nope.)

Garfield sighed in relief as he and Rachel headed over to the sliding doors to the store. "Sorry about that Rae. I was just saying the first thing that would come to mind so she wouldn't get suspicious about the rings." He quickly apologized.

Rachel still had a blush on her face, and she didn't look happy about it. She was probably discussing with Rage (while ignoring Lust's suggestions) on what would be an acceptable torture method to use later.

"Let's just not talk about it right now. Or ever." She gritted out between her teeth.

Garfield stopped in front of the doors, and looked over at her. "Rae. You do realize all of what I said there was a big joke. Right?" He asked.

Rachel looked like she hit a brick wall at that statement.

'Wait... he wasn't being serious... at all?' Lust asked.

'I knew it. He does think we're ugly.' Timid said while she cried.

'Why that two timing, low stealing, horn dog eyeing-' Rude started to cuss like a sailor in the background.

There was a few sniffs. They might have actually come from Rage and Love. Maybe Wisdom and Knowledge too.

"Raven?"

Rachel looked up again. Garfield was looking at her intently now. "Is there something wrong? You just sniffed a little there." He asked worriedly.

Rachel, or Raven in disguise, was glad she still looked normal. It was times like this she appreciated she could hide what she was feeling on the inside from everyone. Yet something in her yearned to understand why she was feeling so conflicted in that moment...

"It's nothing. Let's just get goin-" She was saying.

"Hey!"

The two snapped out of the moment, and looked back. Their eyes widened at the sight.

Clark Kent was near the back of the store. He was running down the long center aisle for them after having just spotted them.

"I need to ask you two a few questions!" Clark yelled as he dodged a normal shop goer.

Garfield paled. "Run!" Garfield quickly said, before he turned and ran. Rachel followed behind him.

Thmmm.

The doors slid open, and the two ran headlong out into the parking lot with their cart.

"No! Stop!" Clark yelled.

Thmmm.

The doors slid closed as Superman quickly ran out of the aisle. A determined look was on his face as he ran past surprised people and cashiers right for the doors.

"Out of my way!" He yelled as he dodged a woman pushing a shopping cart.

Thm-

The doors seemed to open just a little too slowly for his tastes.

Crash!

Superman slammed the doors open as he ran out the front doors of the store. He looked around quickly, trying to spot the two teens from before...

'They have to be in the parking lot! I just saw them run out here a few seconds ago!' He thought to himself as he looked around.

There was no sign of them. Even their cart had disappeared. The only thing in front of him was the cars in the parking lot, and the few people who had been walking to or from their cars. Several of them were looking at him curiously.

'Okay. There's no way anyone can run that fast without having special help.' Superman thought to himself.

He composed himself, and then walked calmly away from the destroyed front doors and the curious glances. As he walked, he pulled out a device from his belt, and turned it on. "Bruce. This is Clark. Are you there?" He asked.

"Yes. I'm in the middle of showing the Doom Patrol around the WatchTower. What is it Clark?" Batman's voice came over the comm.

Superman looked out over the parking lot, and the streets around him just in case. His face took on a harder look when he saw nothing. "Send in the Young Justice to my location. I think I've possibly found where are two fugitives have been hiding." Superman said.

There was a pause on the other end...

"The Young Justice are en route. Orders have been sent to the police to begin evacuating the town's populace. The WatchTower's cameras are moving to study your area. Make sure they don't get away." Batman ordered.

"Yes Bruce." Superman said before he closed the device. "Time to get back into uniform." He said to himself.

The scene showed an alleyway.

Whoosh! Crash!

A cart came barreling around the corner, and crashed into the wall. The bags of groceries inside spilled out over the ground.

"Gar!" A voice snapped.

"My bad! I didn't realize you'd open another couple portals there dude!" Another voice yelled.

Garfield and Rachel came quickly from behind the corner of the alleyway. Rachel immediately got down on the ground. "You know I can only portal to what I see here. Now morph into a cat. I need my bag now." Rachel ordered.

Almost immediately, a green cat appeared in Garfield's place again. The black bag from before rested next to the cat. Rachel grabbed the bag and forced it open. She then started to chuck the bags of groceries into it.

The green cat didn't take the time to stretch like before. It simply looked down, and then Garfield was standing in his place again. He held his hands to his head.

"Dude, Superman totally knows it was us there now. There's no way he wouldn't know." He said to himself.

Rachel appeared calm even while groceries around her were enveloped in a strange black haze and deposited in her endless bag. "Yes, he probably does know now." She said almost dryly.

Garfield got a freaked out look on his face. "Aw dude! He totally does! Fetch! I can't believe we got ourselves discovered and everything by the Superman! Things had been going so well too!" Garfield started to yell.

Rachel merely gritted her teeth. Almost all the groceries were in the bag. "Gar." She tried to get his attention.

"What if this is the end of it Rae?! What if this is where we're finally hunted down and cast into Outer Perdition! I'm too good looking to be cast out among all the demons of the infernal pits-" Garfield was yelling as he freaked out.

SLAP!

Garfield staggered back in surprise, and put a hand to the slap mark on his face. Rachel looked on the verge of annoyance as she pointed at him. "You'll get us discovered sooner if you don't calm down and shut up right now." She stated dryly, yet firmly.

Garfield looked chastened at the statement. "Oops." He said.

Rachel looked around, and then closed up her bag. All that was left was the empty shopping cart. "Come on, let's go." Rachel said.

"Aren't you going to portal us out or something?" Garfield asked.

Rachel glared at him. "How many times do I have to say it. I can't just teleport to a random location. I have to be able to see it. And if I make portals all the way out of town, I'll be too tired to fight or escape should the need arise." Rachel gritted out.

"Then, just fly up there dude. Make only one portal." Garfield said as he pointed up.

Thoom!

A large red ship blasted through the air up above. The draft that came from it ruffled Garfield's hair. He was still pointing up, but now didn't look so sure about it.

"On second thought..."

Rachel crossed her arms. "Too late for that." She said.

Garfield sighed. "Running it is then." He muttered.

Rachel slung her black bag over one shoulder, and nodded. She followed along behind Garfield, and the two ran around the corner of the alleyway...

The red oval shaped ship from before came down for a landing in the town square. Superman was already waiting down below on the ground in full uniform. Nobody was in sight. In fact, the town was being cleared out as the reader was reading this paragraph. Nobody really knows how this was done, since we all know how large scale evacuations are generally messy and time consuming while requiring many people directing traffic. Yet for the sake of an interesting story, most of the people had already been alerted and evacuated in a short space of time.

Thoomp!

The ship landed on the ground in front of Superman. He stood there with his arms crossed as he waited.

Ksch.

The ramp to the ship dropped down. Miss Martian, Bumblebee, Superboy, Black Canary, and Blue Beetle walked quickly off the ramp.

"You called Clark?" Black Canary asked.

Superman nodded. "Sorry to pull you from the Cave so quickly Dinah. I found two teens who are possibly the two fugitives we've been hunting down." Superman said.

The group of heroes looked surprised. "How do you know it's them?" Blue Beetle asked.

"Couldn't it be two random teenagers?" Superboy asked.

Superman's face took on a harder look. "One second I saw them. The next they were gone... and security footage from the store confirmed it." Superman pulled out his device again.

The device showed pirated footage from the front of the grocery store. It showed the two teens run out with a cart full of groceries to the side. Just as they were about to run out of view of the camera a large black dot appeared in front of the two, and they disappeared into it.

Black Canary folded her arms. "I guess that's a compelling argument." Black Canary said.

Bumblebee looked around. "What do you need us to do?" She asked.

"Spread out and scour the town. Find the two, and bring them in." Superman said simply.

"And what if it somehow isn't them, but another pair of metahumans that have superpowers?" Superboy asked in an almost hard tone.

"Then we'll leave them be if they aren't troublemakers, and pretend nothing ever happened here." Superman finally replied.

Superboy's face looked almost as hard as Superman's. Then he broke the staredown. "Alright team you heard the man. Fan out and look for them!" He ordered, before he ran to the north.

"You got it!" Blue Beetle yelled as he flew off to the south.

Bumblebee's wings came out, and she took off into the air. "Let's go find and kick some bad guy fanny!" She yelled.

Miss Martian floated off after her, and they went to the east.

Black Canary ran towards the west.

Superman took up to the air.

The hunt is on.

Author's Notes:

Yes yes yes. Superman does have X-Ray vision. However, I don't think that'd make it easier to tell who was who in a crowd of people. It'd just let him know how many people there were there.

And of course, I leave us on a cliffhanger. There'll be updates and maybe a one-shot throughout the week. This story will be updated next Sunday... I hope. But for now...

Till Next Time
