Wonderful Disclaimer: I'd bet most people are glad I don't own Teen Titans. Every Episode would most probably end with a cliffhanger.
Chapter Forty-Eight: It's Your Choice Rae Rae
Raven's Mind
A large pitted rock was shown floating in the middle of Nevermore… surrounded by blackness darted with red glowing stars...
A dark red portal formed on the top of the center of Raven's mind. After a few seconds, the portal disappeared, and Raven walked out into the middle of her mindscape.
"Woohoo!"
"Yeah!"
"It's about time you got here bitch!"
Unlike last time, her emoticlones were already sitting on large rocks all around waiting for her. They looked pretty happy for the most part. In fact, their happiness could have been mistaken for excitement.
Raven walked into the midst of them, and then sat down on the rock that had been prepared for her. It was in the middle, and just a little bit higher than all the others so she could look out over them all.
"We're so glad to see you in one piece now Rae Rae!" Happy said excitedly.
"Yeah! Like we might have had our butt kicked at the end by Superman there, but you have to admit we totally rocked that fight!" Brave yelled happily to her.
Raven almost grimaced. But she instead forced herself to smile a little. "Yes. We fought very well." Raven admitted.
"I'm just glad Gar managed to deal with the idiot for us!" Rude bellowed.
"I knew Garfield would win somehow," Timid said quietly.
"I'm still trying to comprehend how Garfield could have managed to beat Superman." Wisdom said. Her face was hidden by a stack of paper in front of her with all the knowledge of Beast Boy's powers and abilities on it.
"Because BB is awesome, that's why!" Happy yelled happily.
"Amen!" Lust yelled happily.
"I don't care if he beat Superman or not! Superman still deserves to pay for daring to hurt both of us!" Rage yelled angrily.
"Eh, I'm sure Gar hurt him enough for us." Sloth said lazily.
"Are you saying that because you know that, or because you're too lazy to go and fight!" Rage yelled at her.
"Garfield would have had to beat him somehow." Knowledge said with a shrug.
Wisdom threw her notes into a portal. She had an astounded look on her face. "His claim that he beat Superman literally looks like a million in one chance to me based on his notes." She put her hand to her chin in thought. "I'd love to figure out how he did it." She said in an amazed voice.
Raven put her hands in the air in front of her. "Please, can we get to what I want to talk about?" She asked.
The other emoticlones immediately stopped talking and looked up to her. "I just want to settle some questions here today. I want answers." Raven said.
Everyone shifted so they'd be completely focused on Raven. Raven was almost surprised at how quickly everyone's dynamics had shifted to serious. "Ask away Raven. We're ready." Knowledge said for them.
Raven blinked a couple of times. 'This is new.' She breathed in calmly. 'Okay. What should I ask first…'?
"Should we go to Jump City or not?" Raven asked.
The emoticlones blinked up at her. They must have been expecting a different question. "Great, she's going to save what we wanted to talk about for last," Rude said snidely.
Slap! "Ow!"
Rude put one of her hands to the back of her head. Rage, who sat next to her, had a smirk on her face. "What was that for?!" Rude asked.
"Because I can." Rage responded to Rude, before looking to Raven. "I vote we go." Rage said.
The others looked to her in surprise. "Wait, why do you think we should go?" Brave asked.
Rage shrugged. "You remember what that white-haired Sladegirl wrote. Whether we go or not, she foresaw that the Justice League would find a way to capture us. And after reading that note of hers, I'm not going to be one to doubt her abilities." She said.
"Do you really think we can trust her though?" Knowledge asked.
"The bitch could have faked using the gift of foresight," Rude said lowly.
"Do you remember what she wrote down in that note? She got what happened written down quite spot on." Wisdom said.
That comment made the emoticlones go silent again. "She also showed examples while we were running away that she could see things coming a few seconds before they happened." Knowledge admitted.
"So if she got the beginning right. Wouldn't logic assume that she'd be right on the rest of it as well?" Wisdom asked.
The others were quiet for a moment. "Maybe she was a lucky guesser-" Rude tried to say.
Slap! "Ow!"
Rage smirked next to Rude again. "What the (bleep) Rage!" Rude yelled.
"Again, I vote to go to Jump City." Rage said.
"I do too." Knowledge said.
"Me three." Happy said.
"Me four." Sloth said drowsily.
One by one, the other emoticlones, even Rude, finally agreed on it. Raven watched silently as the process unfolded.
At last, Knowledge looked over the crowd, and then back up to Raven. "I'd say we're all agreed now, Raven." She said.
Raven gave Knowledge a nod. "To Jump City, we'll go then." She said. She took another breath to calm herself.
"Now, my second question… is it okay with all of you that I've completely forgiven Gar for-" She started to ask.
"Completely!" Lust yelled.
"Full-on!" Brave yelled.
"100% A-okay!" Rage bellowed.
"That's what we wanted to happen in the first place!" Timid yelled.
"Do you even have to ask us that question, you ugly bitch! After the way we treated you for not forgiving him!" Rude yelled in anger.
Raven didn't finish her question. She could already tell that they were completely fine that she had forgiven Beast Boy. "I guess that was kind of a dumb question," Raven admitted almost quietly.
"You got the dumb part right you-" Rude started to yell.
Slap! "Ow! Stop it!"
Rude looked in anger at Rage, who was now leaning back with a wide smirk on her face. "That wasn't me this time idiot. That was Lust." Rage said, pointing to Lust.
"Why would you do that, you whore!?" Rude yelled at Lust.
"Because I didn't want to miss out on the fun." She said.
"Hey, quiet down there! Raven still has to ask her last question!" Brave yelled to them.
Raven raised her eyebrow at that. "But I wasn't going to ask that one yet-" Raven started to say.
"Raven. We're literally part of your mind. We know that you want to try and buy time asking other questions. But we know there's one thing bothering you right now." Knowledge said.
Raven gulped at that. She knew it was silly to try and think that her own emotions wouldn't know what she was struggling with then. "Okay…" Raven said like a shy little schoolgirl.
She took a deep, calming breath, and then looked at her emoticlones again. "I know Garfield loves me now… my main question for you though, is do I love, or at the very least like him?" She asked.
…
The others stared silently up at her. They all looked rather curiously at her. "Well Raven, I guess to answer that we should ask you some questions." Knowledge said.
Raven blinked at that. "Okay." She said. 'At least it's a different approach than before.' She thought.
"First off, how do you feel around him?" Happy asked.
"I... feel better I guess?" Raven said with a shrug.
Happy giggled at that. "Silly Rae, don't you feel Happy a lot when you're around BB." She asked.
The unexpected response surprised Raven. She thought about it for a moment. "…I guess that's true. When he's not depressed that is." Raven said.
"What do you feel when he's depressed then?' Timid asked.
It didn't take long for Raven to respond. "I feel like I hurt myself. And there's also a little bit of pride and stubbornness with fear… But eventually, I want to fix whatever it was that happened to him." Raven said without pausing.
Timid nodded her head and sat back down.
"How do you feel when Gar gets hurt by someone else?" Brave asked in a surprisingly calm voice.
Raven looked at her hands, and then formed fists. "I want to protect him, help him, and send the other person to Outer Perdition for what they did," Raven said firmly.
"How about when he's sad and depressed when it's not because of us. What do you feel to do there?" Rage asked.
"Well, he can be his most annoying when he's super happy and everything," Raven responded dryly.
"But?" Wisdom asked.
"… I guess I prefer him being super annoying because I want him to feel happy again when he's down." Raven admitted.
The others looked to Raven. Raven still looked unsure in the middle of them all. "I can understand where all of you are going with this. I feel… a lot of different things when I'm with Gar, I can admit that." Raven said.
It was probably lucky that Lust never got the chance to ask her question. It might have made Raven freak out…
"Then what do you want to do with that knowledge Raven?" Knowledge asked.
"…I don't know… I just don't know if I care about him the way that he cares about me…" Raven said sadly at the end.
The emoticlones looked at each other. "Raven-" Knowledge started to say.
One of the emoticlones got up. She had been silent since Raven had appeared. Knowledge immediately stopped talking and looked to the emoticlone.
Love's purple cloak trailed behind her as she walked up to Raven. She put a hand on her shoulder. Raven looked up into the eyes of her emoticlone. "Raven." Love's soft voice spoke. "You still feel guilty now, don't you?" She asked.
Raven hung her head. "I was so angry with him before… I didn't even want him to be around me… yet now I, I understand that he wasn't, meaning to hurt me-" Raven struggled to say.
"And you feel bad about the way you treated him for it." Love said.
Raven didn't speak. She did nod her head.
"And your struggle right now is that you don't know if you'd want to be with him because you like him... Or because you pity him for being desperate enough to love someone like you, with your looks and attitude and everything." Love said.
Raven was silent for a long moment…
"Yes," Raven admitted.
Love gave Raven a comforting hug. Raven embraced her emoticlone back, doing her best to let the silent tears travel silently down her face. "Don't worry dear. I'll still support you no matter what you choose." Love whispered in her ear.
...
She turned around and walked back to her seat. Raven was left alone in the middle of all her emoticlones again. "Well, Raven, what do you want to do?" Knowledge asked.
Raven blinked at that. "What?" She asked.
"What do you want to do? Love already said it was your choice." Knowledge said calmly.
Raven looked unsure. "That's the thing. I'm not sure what to do." She said.
The emoticlones looked to each other. "I guess there's only one more thing we can offer you, Raven." Knowledge said.
Raven looked to Knowledge. She looked hopeful in that moment that it'd be a direct answer… "In the end, the choice is all up to you." Knowledge repeated from before.
Raven groaned at that. "Seriously, can you just give me a straight answer-" Raven started to complain.
"Raven." Knowledge interrupted her. "We know we've fantasized a lot about Garfield before. But we didn't do it to force you to try and like him. In fact, we haven't made any choice to try and persuade you on any path for how you feel." Knowledge said, staring Raven in the eye. "All those choices have come from you. In the end, it's you, not us, who decides how and why you feel."
Raven was silent at that. "Since I'm your demonic aspect, I kind of have a little ground on your feelings. But I'm not allowed to fully vote for you either sis. The choice is all yours." Rage said next.
"It's your choice Rae-Rae." Happy said.
"All your choice queen of bitches," Rude said smugly.
"Eh, I'm not a fan of them, but it's your choice." Sloth said.
"As long as it's a courageous choice from you!" Brave yelled.
"And a well thought out choice." Wisdom said wisely.
"As long as it leaves me satisfied." Lust said.
Oh dear, I really hope that Raven never learns to understand the hidden meanings behind Lust's statements. It'd make a nuclear bomb seem small.
"I'll support it, no matter how scary it is," Timid said.
Raven looked over all her emoticlones as they reaffirmed to her over and over that it was her choice. As much as she feared it, it was all on her. It was up to her to decide what label she wanted to put on her feelings for Beast Boy. Be it a small passing crush… or a hell of a lot more.
"It's your choice in the end how you decide to feel about Gar." Love ended.
Knowledge looked out over all the emoticlones, then she looked back to Raven. "Well, Raven. We're all agreed. The choice is up to you. You know what you feel around Garfield, it's up to you to decide what to label it as. That's what I've wanted to tell you this whole time." She said.
Raven looked to Knowledge. "How do you feel about Garfield?" Raven asked in one last attempt to get an answer.
"The same way that you feel for him, Raven." Wisdom answered for Knowledge wisely.
Raven stood there for a moment more. She looked out one last time over all of her emoticlones. All of them seemed to be looking expectantly up at her…
Her eyes fell on Love last. She sat in her spot next to Happy and Timid. She didn't look forceful… but rather she was smiling encouragingly. 'It'll be okay. You can admit it to yourself now.' The words almost seemed to enter into Raven's mind.
…
Raven's eyes finally lit up. For once, a small familiar smile came onto her face. It had finally sunk into her thick-headed skull.
"I know how I feel for him." She whispered in realization.
…
A red portal formed in front of her. Before the others could react, Raven walked into it and left her mindscape.
…
"Well, she left rather quickly there," Brave commented.
"She never told us what her choice was though," Timid said sadly.
"Yeah. Now we have to wait and find out what in the seven hells the darn prune is going to do now." Rude said grumpily.
Love stood up. She had a smile similar to Raven's on her face. Rage had a similar one as well as she stood up nearby and walked over to Love.
Lust gasped in surprise and put a hand to her chest. "Girls, I think Raven's going for it now." Lust said excitedly.
Rude rolled her eyes at that. "Oh please, you said that last time you dirty whore and look where that left us." She said snidely.
Lust paused for a second, and then she smiled even wider. "I can feel it this time. I can really feel it." She said, almost dreamily.
"I feel it too." Rage said.
"As do I." Love said.
"What the heck?" Rude said questioningly to them. "You can't believe she's serious now, right?" She asked the others.
Wisdom smiled slightly and looked over to Rage. "You can keep yourself under control for this next part, right?" She asked.
Rage shrugged. "I can try. But I can't promise too much if the emotions run high." Rage said before she paused. "And they're really starting to run really high." She finished.
Rude looked appalled. "Oh come on! You seriously can't think that celibate bitch is going to make that kind of move now!" She yelled.
"Oh, they probably won't move past first base." Wisdom said looking to Rage.
"But we'll finally be seeing some lip to lip action." Happy said.
"Wait, you mean she's…" Timid looked like she was about to go into shock. "Oh no no no no no." She started saying in fear to herself. "I've never had the chance to practice! What if we mess it up!? What if he doesn't like it!? What if-"
Slap!
Timid was shut up by a forceful slap to the back of her head. The emoticlones were all looking at one another. It was like a dawning realization was coming over them all. "Do you mean-" Some of them said at the same time looking to Love.
Love nodded her head. "Brace yourselves sisters. Raven is finally going to take the chance to feel me for a moment." She said as if it was a prophecy about to come to pass.
The other emoticlones looked to each other again. Then they started to feel it too. "Oh yeah! Go get him, Raven!" Brave yelled happily.
They excitingly gathered together. Even Rude looked excited for what was coming next. "It's finally going to happen! And it only took almost fifty chapters!" Rude said happily.
Wait, did somebody just try breaking the fourth wall there? I don't think that's allowed-
"Shut up you damn author! Me and all the other readers have been waiting over three years for this moment to happen! The least you can do is not ruin it!" Rude yelled angrily.
Okay okay, geez. Since you all have been waiting so long for this apparently. (Said sarcastically)
"I can't wait!" Happy said happily.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for.
*End Fake Author's Note since Author isn't that evil*
The scene showed the outside porch. Night had fallen during Raven's sojourn in her mind.
Beast Boy stood in human form leaning on the porch rail, facing the forest. He still looked tired, but at least he didn't look like he was going to fall down and sleep at a moment's glance anymore.
'I hope she gets done soon, dude. It's already been three days since Star City. That leaves us only a week to get to Jump City if we want to make it.' Beast Boy thought.
'Patience master. We can easily make it in five.' The Beast said in his mind.
'But… okay. I guess you're right.' Beast Boy thought.
'There now master. Take a little time to relax. Enjoy the sounds of nature for a while. Doesn't it sound amazing?' The Beast said.
Beast Boy was tempted… 'I can't dude. I just don't feel like it tonight.' He thought sadly.
'Is there something else troubling you master?' The Beast asked.
…
'Yeah.'
'What is it?' The Beast asked.
'I… I'm just not sure what I'd do if she doesn't like me, dude.' Beast Boy admitted.
'Or love you?' The Beast asked.
'… yeah.'
Beast Boy almost expected the Beast to say something about rutting with Raven or something to fix the problem. But for once, the Beast was silent.
In fact, after a moment, he realized the Beast was waiting for him to continue.
'I guess, I don't want to force anything on her that she doesn't want.' Beast Boy continued. 'So, if she doesn't want anything like that between us, then I'd have to respect what she wants and stay friends.' He thought sadly.
'Would you want that master?' The Beast asked.
'I wouldn't want it. Not at this point… but if that's what she wants, then I'd try to be happy with that since she'd be happy with that.' He thought.
'... Wow. That sounded really grown up of you master.' The Beast responded.
Beast Boy chuckled. 'Hey now, you know I'm still going to be a pup at heart.' Beast Boy thought.
'I'll say this master. Even the best Alphas still have a little bit of pup in them. That shows they still know how to have fun with their offspring.' The Beast said.
Beast Boy chuckled for a moment more. 'Wait, did you just say offspring?' Beast Boy realized.
'Of course. You know, in case our mate does love you master. After all, you two will probably rut a lot and have a lot of offspring if that's the case.' The Beast said smugly.
There was the comment he had been waiting for. 'Gah! Do you have to bring that up every time I talk with you about Raven!' Beast Boy thought angrily.
'I do not bring it up all the time Master.' The Beast responded.
'Name me one time where we haven't talked about Raven where you didn't mention rutting with her-'
Thmmm.
The door behind him opened, and Beast Boy stopped in his thought processes. '... Meep.' He thought in nervousness and overwhelming fear as he slowly turned around.
Raven calmly walked out onto the porch. Her cape was wrapped tight around her, and her hood was up over her head. She looked calm, powerful, and intimidating as she walked out onto the porch.
Beast Boy mentally gulped. It was like all his former resolve for if she didn't like him had disappeared. 'Who am I kidding!? I couldn't possibly see myself being able to handle it anymore if all she wanted was to stay friends. Dude, it'd destroy me…' That was probably a little overdramatic, but he couldn't see himself being happy again if she didn't feel the same way he did.
Yeah, he was definitely being overdramatic.
'How can she look so calm about this?!' Beast Boy thought fearfully.
Finally, Raven stopped a foot in front of him. She took a deep breath, and then pulled back her hood. He almost gasped when he saw the moonlight from up above hit her face. She appeared calm, but he saw that internally she was just as nervous as he was.
The two of them were silent for a moment.
…
"Gar… I... I meditated on it." Raven finally said.
Beast Boy gulped. He almost wanted to say a dumb joke to try and break the awkwardness… he stayed silent though and waited.
"And, I, um…" Raven started to try and say when she turned and looked away nervously. 'What do I say now? I've never done this before.' Raven thought.
…
"Raven." Beast Boy finally said almost defeatedly. Raven looked to him again. But he wasn't looking at her. He was looking down at the porch. "If you're still unsure, then I won't push it tonight. We could start traveling right now if you think you'll want more time to think about it." He said defeatedly.
'Maybe if she has more time… like that'd help.' Beast Boy thought sadly.
…
A light pale hand lifted Beast Boy's chin. He looked up into Raven's face. She had gotten closer, and her face was a few inches away. "No Gar. I've thought about it, and I'd rather not travel tonight… I want to rest, but there's something I have to do first." Raven said determinedly.
Her hand moved down from his chin to behind his neck. Beast Boy was silent and stared down into her amethyst eyes as she leaned closer. Till there was only an inch of space between them. He could feel the breath from her lips hitting his.
"Gar. Do you really love me?" She asked seriously.
Beast Boy didn't even have to think. "Yes." He responded.
Her slightly angled face stared silently up into his eyes for a few seconds… Then her face softened. "Okay." She whispered.
Slowly, she closed her eyes, leaned in the last inch, and gently pressed her lips to his.
…
Boom. Kckckck…
The sound of a tree falling in the distance sounded, but the two didn't notice. Their focus was on something else entirely.
Of course, it was a little awkward. Neither of them had really kissed anyone before. Plus Beast Boy had the fangs in his mouth. Raven was totally inept when it came to sharing this kind of physical activity with anyone. And both of them hadn't been expecting to do this tonight.
Yet it felt good. It was as if a burst of energy had gone through their souls. An energy that changed the way they'd think about each other for a long, long time…
*Gasp!*
The two gasped in surprise as they released. Beast Boy's hands were gripping her cape, and both of hers were behind his neck. They didn't remember their hands moving during the kiss. They couldn't even tell how long the kiss had lasted. They looked at each other in the eyes, scanning each other for the effects that had come from it.
…
Raven nervously looked down. 'Maybe I shouldn't have surprised him with the kiss… that was so stupid of me-!' Raven started to mentally berate herself as doubts started to fill her mind.
A gloved hand gently grabbed Raven's chin, cutting off her thoughts. To her surprise, she found herself staring into Beast Boy's deep green eyes again. He said nothing, he seemed almost entranced… Then both his hands moved to cup her face, and he leaned in and kissed her with determination.
Raven let herself melt into the kiss. Both her hands moved back behind his neck. His hands moved from her face under her cloak to embrace her to him. She gladly melted into his lips and his embrace.
'… This feels so much better than any hug.' One of Raven's emoticlones said in her mind.
She agreed. Resoundingly, resolutely, completely. It was better than any goodnight hug he had ever given her.
…
Boom!
Just as the kiss had started to deepen a little bit, one of the trees nearby exploded. The two of them instantly separated from each other. She was breathing in and out heavily, and so was he.
'Holy hell!' Both of them thought. The experience had been beyond anything they could've ever imagined. It had been almost surreal… and while there might have not been fireworks in their minds, the falling ashes from the two trees that had exploded looked a lot like fireworks to them.
...
Beast Boy broke the silence by laughing. "You getting excited there, Rae Rae?" He joked.
Raven's face turned bright red, and she immediately brought her hood up over her head again to hide it. "Not as excited as I felt your emotions getting there Gar." She quipped flatly back to him.
Beast Boy laughed again at that, and he hugged her again while he was still chuckling at her quip. Despite the embarrassment she was feeling, Raven gladly hugged him back. It felt so much more normal now…
"I'll try not to let my emotions get so excited in the future when we kiss Rae." Beast Boy said.
"It's fine Gar," Raven said. "We won't be doing anything like what you were daydreaming about there for a long time anyway. So as long as you keep your hands where they belong and your pants in the right place we'll be just fine." She quipped again with a smirk.
"Aw come on Rae! You're literally asking me to hold back the whole animal kingdom for ya!" He said in a joking manner.
"I'd have to hold back the demonic kingdom on my end too if you don't want to get mauled during the event Gar." She said monotonously to him.
Beast Boy laughed again. He was laughing a lot more than he could remember. He couldn't tell what it was, other than the fact that he felt genuinely happy. Raven smiled slightly under her hood. Feeling like she'd definitely made the right choice. Even if he was annoying, she preferred the way he was right now compared to what it'd been like before.
He surprised her by pulling her hood back down and planting a light kiss on her cheek. "Maybe we should work our way up to make-outs and cuddling first so that the world won't explode from our honeymoon. Is that okay Rae?" He joked lightly.
Raven blushed even more, and she punched him lightly on the arm. "Jerk." She said.
He laughed at her almost childish response. "Oh Rae, I know you wuv me." He said in a childish voice before he laughed again.
Raven finally chuckled a little with him, much to his delight. "Yes, I, I do love you Gar." She finally admitted. He stopped laughing in complete surprise at her confession. She graced him with her classic small smile.
"I think I need to rest some more. I might be hallucinating, but I think you just said you loved me too dude." Beast Boy said in confusion.
Raven chuckled again. "I might need to rest too. I seem to think that I'm in love with some kind of green dork that looks a lot like a miniature elf." She quipped.
The realization hit Beast Boy like a bag of bricks. He laughed again and then put an arm over her shoulder. "Well then my lady, might I have the pleasure of resting up with such a fine young damsel tonight?" He asked in a mocking polite voice.
"You touch me anywhere, and I'll send you to Outer Perdition." She said flatly.
Beast Boy took his arm off her shoulder quickly. "Eep!" He screamed like a girl.
Raven rolled her eyes and grabbed his hand. "I meant anywhere I don't approve of." She added. She had to roll her eyes for extra emphasis again as she set his arm back over her shoulder. "Dork." She muttered.
Beast Boy recovered from his earlier fright. "A dork that you're in wuv with." Beast Boy reminded her.
Raven's sigh could be heard as she closed the door behind them.
Real Author's Note:
Awwwww isn't wuv just amazing! I swear my heart melted at the sight!
Well, there's the moment you've all been waiting for and begging for three years now. Sorry for the almost evil interlude there in the middle. I hope it was enjoyable, and I can't wait to see you all either next week or the week after! (Classes start on Monday, we'll see if the update is ready in time next Friday or not)
Till Next Time
