A Siren's Call

Chapter 6

October turned into November, though the D.A was still actively searching for a place to practice. It was Neville who had haphazardly found a place to practice, he told Ginny right away about the room, and the two of them wasted no time informing Harry and Hermione. Though they didn't have a meeting set up, some of the D.A. members were in the library, when Ginny and Neville came looking for Hermione in the library.

Two weeks had passed since the discovery of the Room of Requirements was found. Hermione who was cooped up in the library trying to come up with a way to notify the D.A. Members secretly about dates and times. She had been doing a bit of light reading when she stumbled across the Protein Charm. She'd thought a little about making it a tattoo, but then thought it was a bit too much like the Dark Mark.

Haphazardly, the moment she tried the protein charm, half of her friends from Gryffindor waltzed into the library to witness her brilliance.

"What have you got there Hermione?" Ron asked.

"It's a fake Galleon," Hermione said before continuing with her explanation, about what the Galleon would do and how she used the Protein charm to get it to work. "you just think about what you want it to say, and you tap it with your wand Harry. The numbers will be the time and date of the next meeting. No one would suspect anything, because most people carry money in their pockets."

"That's brilliant Hermione," Harry said beaming a smile, "I never would have thought of something like that. What gave you the idea?"

"I was thinking about the Dark Mark that the Death Eaters wear," Hermione admitted sheepishly, "it's what gave me the idea."

"You really are the smartest witch of your age," Cedric said with a bright smile.

She blushed and went back to copying the Galleons.

Later that evening after dinner, the twins and Cedric ganged up on her in the library, before pulling her into a secluded part of the library, away from prying eyes.

It had been a few weeks since they'd last had any real contact with one another, and all three of them were feeling the need. They agreed of course to stay within limits, but they desperately needed to touch her. The twins ran their hands down her arms, and back as Cedric glided his hands over her shoulders and neck. It started as a massage of sorts, Cedric kneaded the muscles in her neck and shoulders. When she let out a keening sound, the touches became more.

She too had longed for their touch, craved it, needed it. The only thing that was missing was Viktor. Leaning into their touch, she rested her head on one of their shoulders, while their hands and lips roamed her exposed skin. At this point, she wasn't sure who was where. Fred wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her back into him. George attacked her neck and shoulder from the side, while Cedric kissed her lips and caressed her arms, wrists, and hands.

She was in heaven, she started feeling a fluttering feeling in her stomach, a chill covered her from head to toe, and she shuttered in delight at the feel of it. They stared in wonder as her skin covered in goosebumps. Cedric and George's fingers tweaked her hardened nipples through her shirt. Her head fell back as she let out a low moan, she clasped her thighs together at the sensation at her center. She felt warm, and at her center, she felt wet. Shifting between them, she moaned again, wishing they would touch her more. She felt Fred's hands wander under the waistband of her skirt. She couldn't help but jump a little at the feel of his warm fingers on her nub. Circling from the outside of her panties.

Hermione shuttered in delight, suddenly she felt a wave of pleasure overcome her, and she collapsed against Fred, who had instinctively tightened his hold on her. She panted; her boys righted her clothing for her as she felt too boneless to move. One by one they embraced her, kissing her deeply. Well as deeply as they could without giving in to the desire to ravish her completely. Then together they headed back towards the study area where they were greeted by Ginny and Neville. The two could be seen sitting close together whispering quietly. Hermione smiled, her friends were as happy as her it seemed; life was good.

As studies through the D.A. progressed, members were able to get help where they needed it the most. Though most sessions were planned out there was little room for one-on-one help. They worked their way through disarming, the Reducto Curse, and then onto the shielding charm.

As the weeks passed, they found that Harry was indeed a good teacher, probably the best Defense teacher they had had since Lupin. He was teased relentlessly about it too. Poor Harry, he could not catch a break. However, it was Hermione's opinion that he did not really mind the attention all that much if he wasn't being named the chosen one, or the Savior of the wizarding world.

It was the week before holiday break was to begin, when Hermione found herself in a precarious position, wedged in between to Weasley twins on the couch in the common room. They weren't doing anything particularly naughty, just sharing a box of chocolates that were meant to be a Christmas present for them.

It was then that a horror-stricken Harry ran down the stair and into the common room. "Harry, what's the matter?" Hermione asked, however, Harry did not say a word as he rushed out of the common room and up to the headmaster's office. Hermione had wanted to follow, but she was told to return to bed when Professor McGonagall came into the common room. It was not until the next morning, when Hermione could not find any of the Weasley's or Harry, that she began to panic. Neville was able to calm her somewhat when she was pulled aside by Dumbledore.

"There's been a mishap," Dumbledore said, in a calm hushed voice, "the Weasley's have all returned home early, it would be best if you pretend not to know anything about it."

"But professor," Hermione said as he walked away, "I don't know anything about it!"

Hermione decided to skip breakfast that morning, and all the following mornings for the rest of the semester before the break. She tried to focus on the end of the term homework that would need to be handed in when they returned. As classes were mostly reviewing material at this point, for what use was there learning anything new 3 days before the yule break was to begin. No one would be able to pay attention anyway.

Hermione stayed to herself mostly, without one of her boys to talk to, or Harry and Ron to yell at, there was not much point. Neville and Cho would keep her company on occasion. They all seemed to have something in common, their boyfriend/Girlfriend had just disappeared suddenly, and no one would tell them what the matter was. Hermione found herself a bit upset that neither of the twins had confided in her through a letter on the issue, something she planned to speak to them about upon seeing them once more.

Cedric, though he had his own things to do, would be seen watching her, whenever he had the chance. The last night before departure, he took her to the Room of Requirement, and they had a date of sorts. They found a wizard wireless, and they were able to listen to music. They danced the night away, after which he took her to the kitchen for a midnight snack.

The next day, Hermione, Neville, Cho, and Cedric all sat in a cabin together. As her father was still living in Grimmauld place she would once again be returning there for the holiday. Not that she didn't like the old house. She was just anxious to find out why everyone left so early. She hoped nothing was terribly wrong. As disappointed as she was that the twins had not seen fit to wright her, they must have their reasons.

Cedric admitted that after a brief stay with his parents he would be staying at Grimmauld place over the remainder of the holiday.

"I'll miss you," She said giving him a hug on the platform of 9¾.

"I'll see you soon," He said giving her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

Hermione wasn't sure if the kiss on the cheek was to downplay their relationship to fellow viewers or if he hadn't told his parents that he was the mate of a Siren. It does not matter, she thought as she walked towards where her father was standing, next to Snuffles and Molly Weasley.

"Come along then," Remus said, "we have to make a few stops before popping back to the house."

"Where are we going?" Hermione asked.

"You'll see," Remus said.

Without much warning, Remus popped the three of them over to a cottage in the country, "What is this place?" Hermione asked. She looked around and could not help but think that it looked familiar.

"This is where your mother and I lived for a short time," Remus said looking around. "I thought that you might like a place to call your own, once you're done with school."

"Really?" Hermione asked with tears in her eyes. When her father nodded, she hugged him tightly, "I'll cherish it forever."

"Most of your mothers' things are still inside," Remus said, "I haven't wanted to disturb them. I thought you might like the chance to go through them, decide what goes and what stays."

"The place isn't really fit for more than one or two people," Sirius said, "but that can be remedied, a few extension charms and the place will be able to hold a whole Weasley size family."

"Thank you," she said hugging her father around the waist. It was then that she realized that her father did not really have his own place. "Are you sure?" Hermione asked concerned, "where will you live?"

"With Sirius of course," Remus said happily, "until such a time where I too need my own space."

"He and Tonks have been making eyes at one another," Sirius said in an amused voice.

"She's my cousin, isn't she?" Hermione asked with a tilt of her head.

"Yes," Remus said stiffly.

"Is sort of thing done in the Wizarding world?" Hermione asked curiously.

"Cousins marry cousins all the time," Sirius said, "But as they're not related through blood, well it's not so horrible. No one will care about that; it'll be about werewolf and witch if they say anything about it at all."

"That's terrible," Hermione said making a face, before smiling brightly, "am I going to have to call her mom?"

Remus gave her this incredulous look, "What is Aunt Andy going to say?" Hermione asked changing the subject.

"I don't know," Remus said looking at Sirius.

"Don't look at me," Sirius said, "Tonk's is a free spirit, her mother doesn't control her any more than you or I could control the wind."

"Sounds like you have it all figured out," Hermione said, "are you sure that the two of you wouldn't rather live here. It's rather homey, and I'm sure that between you and Tonk's you could make it livable."

"Were not together yet," Remus said indignantly, "we haven't even spent more than a few hours together."

"What are you waiting for?" Hermione asked surprised, "she won't wait forever."

"No, most likely you'll be fending her off before the year is out," Sirius said with a barking laugh, "Then you'll be inseparable, and there won't be any of that, I'm not worthy nonsense. She couldn't get a better man anywhere."

"I second that motion," Hermione said hugging Remus around his middle again, "before you were my father, you were my favorite professor. Now I have the best of both worlds. I have the best father and uncle a girl could ask for."

"It does my soul good to hear that," Remus said happily, "now what say you, we go and get something to eat?"

"Sure," Hermione said.

"But first before we go, we need to perform the Fedilous Charm," Remus said, "after today only you will be able to tell anyone where it is. Have you thought of a name for the cottage yet?"

"Is a name requited?" Hermione asked.

"No not really," Remus said, "Since it has a plottable address we can use that if you prefer."

"Let's use that then," Hermione said she silently wondered how it would work. But as her father said the incantation and the address. She felt nothing as wisps of magic whirled around her in golden spirals. She knew at once when the spell was complete as all traces of magic were gone.

"Well let's go then," Remus said as they stepped outside and into the lane. Hermione took one more glance behind her, to look at the cottage, only to see an empty space. She couldn't wait to tell her boys that the cottage they dreamed about was real.

When they arrived at Grimmauld place, it was piratically empty. The only occupants were Fred, George, and Bill.

"Where is everyone?" Hermione asked stepping into the twins' arms.

"They're still at St. Mungo's with dad," Fred said in her ear.

"We wanted to tell you," George said with a heavy sigh, "but Dumbledore said it was best that we wait until you arrived here to tell you."

"Are you mad?" Fred asked pulling away to look at her face.

"I was," Hermione said with a frown, "You could have sent an owl to let me know that everything was fine and that you would tell me more later. But I am relieved that everything is alright. How is your father? Will he be alright?"

"Yes," Fred said letting out a breath he didn't know that he had been holding in, "they caught him just in time, and they were able to make an anti-venom. It seems that for all Dumbledore's plans to get the thing from the ministry before You-Know-Who, that someone still managed to get hurt in the process."

"Has Dumbledore put forth the effort to get the prophecy?" Hermione asked, "we haven't had a chance to think about it with Umbridge and The D.A. I can't believe I forgot."

"Don't beat yourself up over it love," George said, "You're not the only one who forgot."

"Where is Harry?" Hermione asked.

"He's been training with Snape in the study most of the day," Bill said looking at the door to the study.

"We were just going to get something to eat," Fred said walking towards the kitchen. Hermione smiled and followed them to the kitchen, now that everything had been worked out she was eager to spend as much time with her friends and loved ones as she could.

On Christmas eve two things happened, first Arthur Weasley came home from St. Mungos. He looked a bit banged up, but he looked alive and well. It was very a happy sight for everyone staying at Grimmauld Place. Fred and George were extremely relieved when they walked into the kitchen to see Molly, coddling, Arthur and trying very hard not to cry over him or crush him in a hug. To Hermione, it was endearing to watch.

It was when Hermione was trying not to cry from the touching moment in front of her that she nearly missed the second surprise. Hermione turned to see her father and her uncle standing in the doorway, only it was not just the two of them standing in the doorway; Viktor was squashed between them trying to hold his breath. Once she realized it was him, she shot towards him like a bullet, and Sirius and Remus had to duck out of the way or get mauled. He caught her in his arms easily, the hug was tight and hard. "I have missed you," she confessed.

"I am glad to hear this," Viktor said kissing the top of her head.

"Come on you two," Mrs. Weasley said, "you can catch up later. Dinner is getting cold."

Hermione had thought that she had seen a slip of a smile on the woman's face as she guided them to their seats. Hermione studied her face for a moment or two before deciding that it was not important.

Molly however was thinking about how wonderful it was for everyone to be together at Christmas. The shadow of a smile Hermione had seen was just Molly thinking what a wonderful group they made. Hermione and her mate's.

A/N: reworked 5/30/21: I have been crazy busy, I keep meaning to write more and fix these chapters as I promised, I just have not felt like writing. I added and changed a few things, I tried to make it flow a little better and make things more relevant. Onto the next chapter!

Anyway, I would like to thank all the reviewers for your kind words, and I hope this is not the only upload on this the last Sunday in May.

P.S. I don't own Harry potter.
