A week had past and it was Levi's first day back at the hospital. Webber had put her on rounds to ease her back in and she was finally feeling more like herself. It had been a rough week since that conversation with Arizona but she felt optimistic about it even though they both hadn't really spoke except for a 'hi' in passing or if Levi was on PED's rounds.
"Levi! Just the girl I wanted to see" April said excitingly.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Sooo…it's my birthday this weekend and seems as I'm on double shifts the whole time I'm thinking about going out tonight and well I'd really love it if you'd come"
"Hmm I'm not sure" Levi shrugged.
"Pleassseeee! Do you want me to beg, I'll do it, I'll get on my knees!" April pleaded.
"Please don't! Okay okay! I'll come. For one!"
"Perfect!" Squealed April. "See you at 8pm!"
"See you at 8!" Replied Levi.
Levi didn't want to go. She'd gotten in the routine of finishing work, going to the local shop and buying the biggest tub of ice cream and crashing in-front of the tv watching bad reality shows.
As Levi made her way to the bar Meredith already had lined up the tequila shots.
"Levi!" She shouted while wrapping her arms around her to give her a hug.
"Hey!"
"These are for you" Meredith said while passing Levi two tequila shots.
"Thanks" replied Levi pulling a face. She hasn't drank in almost six months and she knew that if she didn't pace herself she could be on the floor, hanging over the toilet bowl in easily an hours time.
Levi and Meredith sat at the bar all night laughing and joking and it was the first time Levi had just let her hair down and had fun.
"I'm gonna pee, get the drinks in" shouted Meredith while she ran towards the bathroom.
"Will do" slurred Levi. "Two beers and two tequilas please" Levi shouted to the barman while slamming her hand down on the bar playfully. She was in high spirits.
"Fancy seeing you here" whispered Arizona into Levi's ear.
Levi spun around in shock and suddenly she felt more sober than ever.
"Hiya, hey, hi" Levi said stumbling over her words. Arizona just laughed.
"You okay?"
"Yep..Yerh I'm good. How about you?" Asked Levi.
"Good. I'm good" replied Arizona.
"Let me buy you a drink"
"You don't have to." Said Arizona.
"I know, but I want to. It's my round." Levi tried to play it cool but her palms where sweating and she hated that she was a little drunk because drunk Levi was not cool she was a mess.
Levi grabbed a bottle of beer and handed it to Arizona and she smiled.
"Cheers" levi said while putting her beer in the air.
"Cheers" Arizona mirrored Levi's actions. "Right…I'm going to sit with my new interns and mingle. Thanks for the drink."
"Oh Yerh, sure. You're welcome. Have a nice night". Levi felt sad. She wanted Arizona to stay but would never admit that to her.
"What did I miss" asked Meredith.
"Arizona is here."
"Ooohh…TEQUILA PLEASE!" Shouted Meredith. "The whole
Bottle!"
For the rest of the night Levi watched Arizona as she made her way around the bar talking to everyone like the beautiful social butterfly she was. Hearing her laugh made Levi happy. It was infectious and the way Arizona looked tonight was killing Levi.
'Arizona and Kelsey you're up next for karaoke' Echoed around the bar as Arizona and some girl Levi hadn't seen before made their way to the stage. Levi swivelled in her chair so she had a full view of the stage. She smiled as the first few bars of don't go breaking my heart began to play. Everyone in the bar started to clap and cheer. Levi didn't really know wether she could react or not so she just smiled and tapped her foot against the chair leg.
As Arizona and Kelsey began to get more into the groove of the song Levi noticed that Kelsey was giving Arizona this look and Arizona seemed to be enjoying it a little too much for Levi's liking. Her smile dropped and she started to realise that maybe Arizona had moved on. She tried to shake the feeling away and tell her brain that it was just the tequila talking but she wasn't so sure. She touched her face and felt something wet on her cheek. She had began to cry without realising And she rushed off to the toilet before anyone could see. She looked in the mirror and began to murmur "space. It's not over, she just needed space." The more she said it the more her breathing started to slow down. She grabbed a tissue, wiped away the tears and walked back out.
"Levi! Where did you go. It's our turn!" Meredith said while dragging Levi up on stage.
"Meredith no! I don't do singing" protested Levi but it was to late, the opening bars of landslide by Fleetwood mac began to play. This was Meredith's comfort song after Derek died but right now it didn't seem like the best song to be singing out loud in-front of Arizona but if she chickened out now it would be too late. Arizona didn't seem
to notice Levi onstage until she started singing. 'Well, I've been afraid of changin 'Cause I've built my life around you' echoed throughout the bar and Arizona couldn't take her eyes of Levi. As they finished the whole bar was silent except for April who 'wooo'd' a bit to enthusiastically for how sad the song actually was. The bar eventually erupted into cheers and claps and as Levi jumped of the stage she noticed Arizona whispering into Kelsey's ear while grabbing her coat and they both left the bar.
"Don't let it get to you" Meredith said while rubbing Levi's back.
"I know…I just didn't think space meant we could see other people"
"Well I'd like to say maybe it's not what it looks like but I wouldn't want to lie" shrugged Meredith.
Levi wished Meredith would lie. She wished she would say "don't worry Levi, Kelsey is married with three kids, blah blah blah" but no. Meredith always told the truth and sometimes the truth hurt.
"Well my gaydar is kinda awesome and I know there are at least four lesbians in this bar right now. Go get em"
"Is that so" laughed Levi. "I think I'm just going to go home. I'm done for the night" Levi said while grabbing her coat. She didn't want to go home But she couldn't think of anything other than what Arizona could be doing with that new intern. As she walked out the bar she noticed Arizona's car still parked up but the fog lights where on and as she squinted to investigate she could see Arizona making out with Kelsey inside the car. She didn't know what to do. She was facing them and before she had the chance to turn around and walk back into the bar Arizona locked eyes with Levi. They both just stared for a second then Levi hurried across the car park and across the road. Before she had the chance to compose herself she heard Arizona's voice behind her.
"Levi wait"
