A/N: Hi all, this will be the last chapter. I only planned three chapters and think it make senses to end it here with the potential for a sequel.

I enjoyed writing this one and the idea for the second chapter was gonna be a one-shot, but I thought it fit in well here.

I hope you all had fun reading this! Do let me know if you're interested in a sequel and what you would like to see in it. Be forewarned that it might be a few months before I post a sequel.

On a last note: THANK YOU readers and reviewers!

Tenten did a little dance as she got ready for work.

'Last day, last day, last day...I'm free after this!'

As she made her way to work, she felt the sky was sunnier, the weather extra beautiful, the baked goods more aromatic...everything was better.

'Mmmmm that bread looks good. Treat myself for a job well done. You deserve it, Tenten. I'm so great, Kakashi-Sensei is lucky, I'll get him some bread too. A parting gift.'

Her good mood carried on as she hummed and bounced into the tower. Throwing out smiles to everyone she passed. It got her some weird looks in return.

"Good morning, Hokage-sama!"

"Morning, Tenten-Chan. You're happy today."

"Am I? I guess so."

"Did something happen?"

"No. Nothing out of the ordinary. Here, I got you some fresh baked bread today. It'll be good with your tea."

She skipped over to the tea cart and prepped the beverage and bread.

"Are you sure nothing happened?"

"Hm? I'm sure. It's just a nice day out. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, it's enjoyable. Here you go, tea and bread!"

"Hm, thank you."

"You're welcome!"

Tenten turned and walked to her desk, before sitting down, something caught her eye.

"What's this?" She asked as she picked up the rectangular object.

"Mmm this is good bread."

"Why is...this here?"

"Where did you get this? Mmmm"

"When did you get this made?"

"Do you have more?"

"Hokage-sama! What's the meaning of this?!"

"Huh? What? Your nameplate? It's your name, 'Tenten'"

"I see that, but why am I getting a nameplate?"

"What do you mean? Shizune didn't tell you?"

"Tell me what...?"

"Oh...nothing really, just your assignment has been extended."

"What?! How long?"

"Did she say two weeks? Or two months? Do you have more bread?"

Knock knock knock

"Hi, I have that report you were asking about yesterday. Am I interrupting...?"

A pineapple haired head hovered by the open door, looking between the two people in the room.

"No, come in, Shikamaru-kun...if you'll excuse me a moment."

Tenten opened the door wider to step around her friend and allow him into the room. She closed the door behind her.

"What's up wi-"

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Both men flinch at the scream coming from some unknown part of the tower.

"I take it you just dropped a bomb on her..."

"Ah...maybe?"

"Good luck, hope she doesn't poison you."

The door opened at that moment and a smiling Tenten sauntered back in.

"Bread, Shikamaru-kun?"

"Um...no, thanks...I have to go-"

"Already? You just got here."

"Yes...still have some planning to do..."

"Ok, have a great day!"

Shikamaru quietly retreated to the door, not making any unnecessary movements. He looked back at the Hokage before closing the door and mouthed: Be careful.

"Tenten-Chan..."

"Yes, Hokage-sama?"

"Can I have more bread?"

"All gone."

"..."

'Look at him, sitting there doing work, not bothered at all. I can't believe I'm stuck to this desk for another two, what, weeks, months? Gawww, I'm going to die here. How can I get out of this? I need a substitute. Who? Who can I rope into this? Hinata? She'll do it right? No, I can't pawn this on her, she soooo nice. I would feel guilty...but not guilty enough, right? No, I can't. How about Lee? He has the energy for it, but then...I would have to put up with Sensei's extreme behavior since Lee isn't there. No I can't, I need Lee to be a buffer.

What's he's saying? Just smile and nod. Smile and nod.

Where was I? Not Lee so who else?...Shino? Not likely, there would be zero communication. Kiba? No patience there. Where's Ino? Isn't she back yet so Shizune can come back? Is there no one else in this town? A civilian, maybe? Do I know any? This is so troublesome. Wait a minute, I should-

"TENTEN-CHAN!"

"Ah, yes?"

"Have you been listening?"

"Yes...no?"

"..."

'Why is she staring at me? She looks like she's plotting something...was Shikamaru right? She's going to poison me, isn't she? I shouldn't eat or drink anything she give me from now on, but she makes really good tea and the bread...so mean, won't give me more.'

"Tenten-Chan...

.

Have you finished the reimbursement sheet?

.

Can you file it with the accounting department?

.

Can you go now?

.

Did you hear what i just asked? Are you there?

.

'Is she even listening? Why is she just smiling and nodding? Definitely planning something. If I throw a pen at her...no, I shouldn't, she'll definitely add something extra to the tea. That smile is starting to creep me out...'

"TENTEN-CHAN!"

"Ah, yes?"

"Have you been listening?"

"Yes...no?"

"..."

"Sorry, you were saying...?"

"Never mind, let's break for lunch."

"What would you like? I'll go get it."

"No! No, let's go out for lunch."

Tenten fought the urge to bang her head against her desk. Her excitement from the morning now completely replaced with despair. She was sitting alone in the office, finishing up the last of the day's paperwork.

'Maybe I should just run away. Being a missing nin would be better than this. Maybe this is some special form of torturous genjutsu. It's the only explanation.'

"Oh! Tenten-Chan, what are you still doing here?"

Tenten looked up to see Shizune. Tears sprang to her eyes.

"Shizune-Chan! I've missed you!"

She threw herself at the older kunoichi.

"What's wrong?"

"Is it true that I'm here for another two months? I can't last that long!"

"Two months? Who said that?"

"The Hokage!"

"That man...no, just two days."

"Two days?!"

"Yes, I told him I need to take two days off after the past two weeks at the hospital."

"But the nameplate..."

"Oh, that was supposed to already be here. Must've been delayed somewhere."

"I see. Thanks for clearing it up for me!"

Kakashi looked at the mountain of bread and tea on his desk.

'She knows'

He looked over at her. She smiled back at him.

"Hokage-sama..."

"Yes, Tenten-Chan..."

"I forgot my scroll with the book today."

"What?"

"I'll have to give you the next chapter tomorrow."

"But..." it's your last day...I did not think this through.

"Is there a problem?"

"No..."

"Great! Let's have a good day!"
