Chapter 1

A joint family trip to Page, Arizona. That's where the Thatchers and Thorntons currently were. They'd all been friends for as long as anyone could remember. William, Grace, Thomas and Charlotte had grown up together therefore making their children fast friends even from birth.

On the Thatcher side, there was the oldest, Viola, then Elizabeth, and last but not least, Julie. On the Thornton side, it was the oldest, Jack and the youngest, Tom. While the Thatcher sisters were all two years apart, the Thornton Brothers were also two years apart. On top of that, Jack and Elizabeth were the same age as were Julie and Tom.

The two families always enjoyed each other's company and this time was no different. It was a beautiful evening on Tuesday August 3rd, 2010 and a very memorable trip was coming to an end. After spending the day exploring Grand Canyon National Park, they all came back to their Airbnb to have dinner then relax for the rest of the night.

Since they'd all be heading back home to Franklin, Tennessee the following day, Jack and Elizabeth wanted to soak in every moment before it was time for the craziness of school to start again at Battle Ground Academy as high school juniors.

They had always been best friends but this particular summer, they had spent a lot more time together and grown even closer than ever.

Ever since they were kids, they'd always dreamed of one day becoming a couple and in just a few short minutes, that dream would hopefully become a reality.

While William, Grace, Thomas, Charlotte, Viola, Julie, and Tom were all sitting in the living room inside talking, Jack and Elizabeth were sitting on the sofa on the back patio doing the same thing as they watched the sunset.

"Jack, can you believe in just a few short days we'll be starting our junior year of high school?"

"No, I can't, Elizabeth. It's so crazy! Time is just flying by."

"Yes, it is. Don't get me wrong. I'm excited for us to see all our friends and teachers, those Friday night football games, and another year of cheerleading but at the same time, I wish we had just a few more weeks to spend time together without the craziness of school, papers, studying, and class projects."

"I know what you mean. I'm ready to see everyone again and to start another year of football with the guys but I feel the same."

"Yea. This will be your first year as starting quarterback, right?"

"That's right. I'm a little nervous if I'm being honest. I just don't want to disappoint anyone."

Elizabeth looked at her best friend sweetly and encouragingly. "Jack. Don't be nervous. You would never disappoint anyone. I know you'll do a wonderful job. And you can bet I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines."

"Thank you, Elizabeth. That means the world. And I know you will." He took a moment before continuing. "This will be your first year as cheer captain?"

"Yes, it will. I'm kinda nervous too. I hope I do a good job."

Jack gave her the same sweet, encouraging look she gave him. "You will do an amazing job. I have complete faith in you. Just remember, Philippians 4:13."

"Thank you for the sweet words. It means a lot. And I'll definitely never forget it. That is one of my all-time favorite Bible verses."

"It's one of my favorite verses too."

There was a short bout of silence between them as they enjoyed each other and continued watching the sunset.

"Jack, isn't this one of the most beautiful views you've ever seen?"

Jack smiled and nodded. "It is very beautiful, but I can think of something." He gave his best friend a loving look unlike any one she'd ever seen before as he continued. "Or someone that's even more beautiful than that."

Knowing by his look that he was talking about her, Elizabeth's heart melted at Jack's words. "Awe, Jack. You're too sweet and always look so handsome. I'm so lucky to have a best friend like you."

Jack gently took her one of her hands. "I feel the same way. I'm so lucky to have you in my life." He shortly paused. "Elizabeth. May I share something with you?"

Elizabeth smiled. "Sure. You can share anything with me. We're best friends, remember?"

Jack smiled back and nodded. "Yes, I'll always remember. It's just that, I'm a little nervous."

"Don't be nervous. You're so special to me and whatever is on your mind will never change how I feel about you."

Jack looked back sweetly at her while still gently holding her hand. "Elizabeth. You're so special to me. That's why I'm nervous. I don't want to mess this up and I definitely don't want to lose you."

Elizabeth gave him a sweet and comforting smile. "Jack. You will never lose me. I deeply care about you and will always be here. What is it you don't want to mess up?"

Jack slightly turned to face her, took a deep breath, and smiled while gently holding both her hands with his. "Ok. Here it goes." He shortly paused trying to gather his words. "I know we've been friends ever since birth but once we reached 1st grade, I really started understanding more how great a friend you are. As the years went on and we reached middle school and the first two years of high school, we definitely had our moments but through it all, we remained close. I'm sure there will be probably be more rough spots ahead, but I truly believe we'll be able to work through them together and that we will always be best friends, no matter what. I can't remember if I've ever told you this but Elizabeth." He shortly paused. "You're beautiful, smart, kind, talented, compassionate, have the sweetest soul, and are all around the most amazing girl I've ever met. There are so many more words I could use to describe you but just know this. You make me very happy and I love you so much." He shortly paused again. "Now, with that being said. There's only one thing left I want to ask." He picked up the heart shaped box of chocolate covered strawberries from the table and lifted the top to reveal his question written out on 7 of them. "Will you be my girlfriend?" Along with holding the box of chocolate covered strawberries in one hand, he was holding a small box with a beautiful 14k Rose Gold and Morganite stone promise ring.

With happy tears rolling down her cheeks, Elizabeth quickly responded. "Oh, Jack. I can't think of anything I'd want more right now. You're just the sweetest guy and I'd absolutely love to be your girlfriend."

"Oh, Elizabeth. I can't think of anything more I'd want either. I'm so happy to be your boyfriend." With that said, they shared a smile as Jack gently placed the promise ring on her left hand ring finger. Once the ring was on her finger, they leaned in and shared their very first kiss. It was sweet, tender, gentle, loving, and better than they could have ever imagined.

"I love you so much, Lizzie. Always have, always will."

"I love you, Jack Thornton. That will never will change in a million years."

As they're sharing another sweet, tender kiss on the lips and in their own little world, they were completely unaware that Julie caught the moment with her own eyes.

In the middle of the conversation their families were having, Julie blurted out a statement about what she saw. "Hmm. I wonder what that's about."

With everyone's curiosity peaked, William asked what was on all of their minds. "What's going on, Julie?"

Julie pointed outside to Jack and Elizabeth who were still on the patio in their own little world smiling, laughing and sharing Eskimo kisses. "I just saw those two kissing."

Viola smiled and chuckled. "Julie Thatcher! Were you eavesdropping?"

"I'm sorry, Vi. I couldn't help it. They're just so cute!"

"Viola shook her head and chuckled again. "I know. And it's ok but you still shouldn't eavesdrop. They are cute and I'm sure whatever is going on, we'll find out soon."

William then chimed in. "I have to agree with Viola. It's not polite to eavesdrop but I'm sure they'll let us know what's going on. Jack is a good guy and I know he has all the best intentions, whatever they may be."

Thomas and Charlotte smiled hearing William's words about their oldest son before Charlotte acknowledged his compliment. "Thank you, William. That means a lot to hear you say that. We're very proud of the man Jack is growing up to be. He is a very sweet young man."

Grace then gave her two cents. "He definitely is. Always so kind, polite, and well mannered."

Meanwhile, back on the patio, Jack and Elizabeth were still sitting on the sofa holding hands and sharing loving gazes.

"So, my sweet Elizabeth. Are you ready to go inside and share the exciting news with our family?"

Elizabeth grinned "Yes, I'm ready. What do you think they'll say?"

Jack continued staring lovingly in her eyes while gently rubbing her fingers with his thumb. "Well, I think they'll be surprised but I'm almost certain they'll be happy for us. My family loves you, Elizabeth."

"Awe, I love them. And my family feels the same about you."

With that said, Jack sweetly kissed her left hand before he and Elizabeth headed back inside to inform their families.

Julie saw them coming and everyone noticed how excited she was. "Here they come everyone."

Viola gave her a slightly stern look. "Julie."

Julie slightly rolled her eyes and smiled. "I know. I know."

By the time Julie finished talking, Jack and Elizabeth were standing in the living room smiling and holding hands.

Jack was the first to greet everyone. "Hi, everyone."

Thomas smiled back. "Hi, son. How's everything going? Did you and Elizabeth enjoy watching the sunset?"

Jack grinned and nodded. "Yes, we did. Very much. In fact, we have something exciting we'd like to share with you all."

Everyone looked at each other curiously but with a smile as Tom eagerly questioned. "What's that, big bro? We'd love to hear."

"And we're ready to share." Jack beamed as he wrapped his arm around her waist gently pulling her close. "After talking for a while, I asked this wonderful girl to be my girlfriend."

Elizabeth smiled back at him doing the same thing he did to her. "And I accepted." She gently rested her left hand on his chest. "He even gave me a beautiful promise ring to make it more official."

Julie bounced up to her feet in excitement. "Oh, Elizabeth. I'm so happy for you, sister!" She gave Elizabeth a hug then Jack. "And you too, Jack. Y'all make such a cute couple already." She shortly paused then addressed her sister again. "Let me see that ring." She smiled as Elizabeth showed it to her. "That ring is beautiful, sister. You did well, Jack."

Everyone, including Jack smiled and chuckled at Julie's excitement. "Thank you, Julie. That means a lot."

Once Viola, Tom, Thomas, Charlotte, and Grace had given the new couple hugs of congratulations, it was William's turn. He gave his daughter a hug and kiss on the head then gave Jack a hug and friendly tap on the back. "Congratulations, you two. I can't say I'm surprised. I've seen the way you've looked at each other the last year so I kinda expected it'd happen sooner or later. I'm happy for y'all. And Jack, you're a fine young man. I know you'll treat her the way she deserves."

Jack gave William a smile and friendly handshake. "Thank you, Mr. Thatcher. I definitely will. You can trust me." He beamed at Elizabeth with the love he had for her. "Elizabeth, here is a very special girl and I love her so much!"

Elizabeth smiled back. "You're special too, Jack." She sweetly kissed his cheek. "I love you."

…...

1 year later

It was a very beautiful morning in Franklin, TN. The date was Wednesday August 3rd, 2011. Exactly one year since Jack and Elizabeth became a couple. Ever since then, they'd already shared many more memories and become the most popular and loved couple at Battle Ground Academy.

On top of spending a majority of the summer together, they spent some days working at local businesses. While Jack had a part time job at the Franklin Mercantile Deli owned by Noah and Abigail Stanton, Elizabeth had a part time job at Five Daughters Bakery owned by Eleanor Winters.

In honor of the special day, Jack was up by 9 am so he could finish putting in place a list of fun activities for the day. Once that was done, he picked up his phone to give his girl a call.

Elizabeth had just gotten up and read her morning devotional a few minutes earlier when she heard her phone ringing. As she sat in bed, she smiled seeing Jack's face come up on her phone before quickly answering it. "Well, good morning, handsome. I was just thinking about you."

Jack, on the other end smiled over the phone. "Oh, you were? Well, you wanna know something else? I was just thinking about you too." He shortly paused. "Good morning and happy 1 year, beautiful."

"Awe, Jack. Happy 1 year to you too. I can't believe it's already been that long since you asked me to be your girlfriend. Time sure does fly but I've enjoyed every minute."

"I can't believe it either. And yes, it has flown by. I've enjoyed every moment too." He shortly paused. "So, I've been thinking since it's such a special day, how about I come pick you up from your house in about an hour then we head out to spend some time in Nashville?"

"Oh, Jack. That sounds wonderful. I'd love that. I can definitely be ready by then. I can't wait to spend the day with you!"

"I can't wait either. I'll definitely call you when I'm headed your way. Excited to see you!"

"Sounds good. I'm excited to see you too, Jack. Be careful."

"I will, Elizabeth. See you soon. Love you."

"I love you too, Jack."

Once Jack finished getting ready, he told his parents and brother goodbye then headed out the door to his grey Ford F-150 so he could make his way over to Elizabeth's house.

On the way there, he made a quick stop at High Brow Coffee + Tea to order breakfast and coffee for them.

As he walked in, he was happily greeted by the owner and General manager, Lou Fleming Morris and two of the part time baristas, Grace Bennett and Michael Gleason, who were also his classmates.

Lou was the first to speak up. "Good morning, Jack. How are you?"

Jack gave a smile as he responded. "Hi, Lou, Grace, and Michael. I'm doing great! Just stopping by to get some breakfast and a cup of coffee to go as a surprise for Elizabeth for our 1-year dating anniversary."

They all smiled as Grace chimed in. "Wow! It's been a year already?! That's crazy! We love y'all and are so happy for you. Right guys?"

Lou and Michael both responded in unison. "Right." Michael then continued what he had to say. "So, Jack. What can we get for you today?"

"We love y'all too. I'll have one small vanilla latte with almond coconut milk for Elizabeth, a mocha latte with almond coconut milk for me, and a jumbo blackberry muffin and lemon loaf."

"Ok. Coming right up."

Jack grinned and nodded. "Alright. Sounds good. Thanks, Michael."

"Of course, man."

After Jack was given the two cups of coffee, muffin, and the lemon loaf, he said goodbye to his friends. "Bye, y'all. Hope you have a great day."

Lou and Michael said their goodbyes then Grace said hers. "Bye, Jack. Hope you have a great day too. I'm sure Michael and I will see y'all at school in a few days for the senior portraits."

"Yes, you will. See you then."

About 15 minutes later, Jack arrived at Elizabeth's house and was greeted by William once he rang the doorbell.

William gave him a smile and a firm but friendly handshake. "Good morning, Jack. How are you?"

"Good morning. I'm great, Mr. Thatcher. Thank you for asking. How are you doing?"

"We're all doing well. I know Elizabeth is excited to spend the day with you. And I see you brought coffee and breakfast."

"Yes, sir. I did. I brought it for Elizabeth as a surprise for our anniversary."

"That's very kind of you, Jack. I know she'll appreciate it. Can I take anything for you?"

"Sure. If you could take the bag with the muffin and lemon loaf, that would be great. Thank you, Mr. Thatcher."

They reached the kitchen and William set the bag on the counter. "Of course, Jack. I'm happy to help. It's hard to believe it's already been a year since you two became a couple."

"I feel the same way, sir. Time surely has flown by, but I love her so very much. She means the world to me."

"I know she does, Jack. I can see in your eyes and can tell by the way you treat her how much she means to you. It makes me so happy to know she found such a wonderful young man in you."

"Thank you, sir. That means everything. I promise I'll continue doing whatever I can to make her happy, feel loved, and protected."

"I know you will, Jack. I trust you."

With that said, Grace entered the room. "Hi, Jack." She approached him and gave him a hug. "It's good to see you."

"It's great to see you too, Mrs. Thatcher. Mr. Thatcher here said you're all doing well."

"We are. Thank you." She shortly paused. "Elizabeth should be here in a few minutes. She's just getting her things together."

A few seconds later, Elizabeth appeared in the room and quickly approached Jack, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Good morning, darling. How are you?"

Jack looked lovingly at her. "I'm great. So happy to see you. I brought you your favorite coffee and a muffin and lemon loaf for us to share from High Brow."

"You did? And I'm so happy to see you."

Jack smiled and nodded while handing her the cup of coffee. "I did. I was going to let you know earlier but I thought since it's our one-year anniversary of becoming a couple, I'd make it a surprise." He pointed to the bag on the kitchen counter. "The muffin and lemon loaf are in the bag right there."

Elizabeth just stood there smiling. "Oh, Jack it was a wonderful surprise. You're so sweet. Thank you!"

"Of course, honey. I just want to make sure you know how special you are to me."

"Awe, darling. You're so special to me too."

As soon as they finished eating breakfast, they told William and Grace goodbye as well as Julie and Viola who had just gotten up a few minutes before, then headed out the door to spend the day in Nashville together.

The day went by quickly as Jack and Elizabeth had already taken an enjoyable tour of RCA Studio B, did some shopping at Music City Marketplace & Music City Shop and were now at lunch at Merchants.

"Jack, wasn't that tour of RCA Studio B awesome? I loved hearing all the history of it and how artists like Elvis and Carrie Underwood have recorded there."

"Yes, it was. I loved hearing all of that too. I knew it'd be something fun for us to do and I thought today would be the perfect time. And we both love Elvis so there's that."

"I agree wholeheartedly. It was so much fun." She gently took Jack's hand from across the table and smiled. "So, what else do you have planned for us on this special day?"

Jack smiled back. "Well, I thought after lunch, we could do a little more shopping then head back to my house, relax, and go swimming like I mentioned yesterday. And later, I wanted to treat you to dinner. How does that sound?"

"Awe, Jack. That sounds wonderful. I'd love that. You're so sweet."

"I think it'll be fun too. I just wanna make my girl feel as special as possible." He continued holding her hand gently rubbing her fingers with his thumb while gazing lovingly at her. "I can't believe we've already been dating a whole year."

"I can't either, babe. It's so crazy but you know what?"

"What's that, Elizabeth?"

Elizabeth gazed deeply into his eyes lovingly. "We may only be in high school but I'm more in love with you than I've ever been. You're truly the most amazing guy and I'm so lucky to have you."

"My sweet, Elizabeth. I feel the same exact way. You're the most amazing girl and I'm more in love with you than ever. I can't be more grateful to have you."

Elizabeth gave her boyfriend a smile and asked the question on her mind. "Jack. If we ever got married someday, where would you want to take me on a honeymoon?"

Jack grinned. "Hmm. That's a hard question. There are so many beautiful places in the world. If we ever got married, I would want the location to ultimately be a surprise but I'm definitely thinking somewhere tropical."

"Oooh. Now I'm intrigued. Can you give me a little hint please?"

Jack looked at his girl with a sweet smile as he slightly chuckled then responded firmly but kindly while holding her hand. "Now, sweetheart. If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise. We'll just have to get married someday for you to find out."

Elizabeth smiled then slightly pouted. "Alright. I guess we will." She smiled again looking in his eyes lovingly. "I know that wherever a honeymoon would be, you would make it amazing."

"Oh yes, I would, babe. I love you so much and I pray that it's God's plan for us to become husband and wife someday. I know we've only been dating a year, but I can't imagine my life without you."

"Oh, Jack. I love you more and can't imagine my life without you." She shortly paused. "I know this might be an obvious question and a little random, but I'll ask anyway."

"Sure. I like obvious and random. Go for it, darlin'."

Elizabeth smiled and continued. "Does it make you smile when I send you a text message?"

Jack looked sweetly at his Elizabeth. "Of course, it does. They're always so sweet and when I'm having a hard day, they always make it a lot better. What about for you? Does it make you smile when I send you a text message?"

"Awe, I'm so happy to hear that, Jack. And it definitely does. I love the sweet texts you send me. They will never not make smile, especially when I'm having a hard day."

"That makes me so happy, Elizabeth. You're so special to me and I never want you to forget how much."

"You're the sweetest, honey. I promise I won't forget. Please never forget how special you are to me."

"I promise I won't forget either, my sweet Elizabeth."

After lunch, they headed out for more shopping at Urban Outfitters, Ernest Tubb Record Shop and Savannah's Candy Kitchen before heading back to Jack's house in Franklin to relax and hang out for a while.

While they hung out by the pool in the backyard, they talked, laughed, took pictures together, and enjoyed each other.

"You know, Elizabeth. I love that swimsuit. You look so cute, darlin'."

"Awe, Jack. Thank you, baby. You're too sweet and look so handsome yourself." She continued beaming at Jack. "Wanna take a swim in the pool with me?"

"Sure. I'd love to take a swim in the pool with my girl."

Once they took a swim, they remained in the pool and continued talking.

"Jack, I was just thinking. In honor of it being our 1-year dating anniversary, how would you describe our first kiss?"

"Hmm. There's so many ways I could describe our first kiss, but I'll just say this. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced. After being best friends for so long, it felt so good to be able to take that next step with the most amazing girl." He shortly paused. "What about you?"

"Oh, Jack. I feel the same. It was so sweet, tender, and all around one of the best things I've ever experienced. Like always, you were such the gentleman and made me feel so safe, protected, and loved. I can't even explain how much that means to me. You're the most amazing guy I've ever known and I'm so grateful my first kiss was shared with you, my darling. And on top of that, the fact we got to share it in such a beautiful place at sunset makes it even more special."

"Couldn't have said it better myself. That did make it even more special. I'm so grateful my first kiss was shared with you, honey. I'll never that moment." He started gently running his fingers through her wet hair. "And I'm always gonna make you feel safe, protected, loved, and cherished, no matter how old we get. You mean everything to me and that'll never change."

"I'll never forget that moment either, Jack. And I know you will." She gently stroked his wet hair. "You'll always mean the world to me." She shortly paused. "I have another question for you, sweetheart."

Jack gave his girl a smile. "Sure. What is it, my love?"

"Jack, how many times did you want to kiss me before our actual first kiss?"

"Oh, my goodness." He gently rested his hands on her hips under the water while gazing in her eyes. "Babe. There were so many times I wanted to kiss you but I also wanted to be a gentleman and make sure you were ready for that next step before making it happen."

Elizabeth smiled back at Jack and gently rested her hands on his bare chest. "Jack Thornton! Do you even know how amazing you are? You're just the sweetest and the world would be a lot better place if there were more guys like you." She shortly paused. "You might not know this but there were so many times I wanted to kiss you too before our actual first kiss." She started gently running her hands over his chest. "The truth is...I would've been ready two years ago."

Jack kept his gaze while gently running his hands down her sides under the water. "Honey. Why didn't you say anything? I promise I would've made it special even then."

"Oh, Jack. I know you would have. That's not what I was worried about. I just didn't want to seem too forward, and I wanted to make sure you were ready for that next step."

"My sweet, Elizabeth. I would've never thought that. If I'm being completely honest, I was also ready two years ago. I've prayed for this next step in our relationship for so long and I'm so grateful it's finally a reality. I just love you so much, darlin'."

Elizabeth sweetly and passionately kissed him on the lips. "I love you so much more, baby."

Little did they know; Thomas and Charlotte were standing just inside the house and caught the sweet moment.

Charlotte shook her head smiling. "Oh man. Those two. They are just adorable. I've never seen our son look at any other girl the way he looks at Elizabeth. He is so in love with her."

Thomas gave his wife a smile back and nodded. "They definitely make a sweet couple. Elizabeth is a wonderful young woman and perfect for him. If I'm being honest, she's never seemed as happy as she is now. The love she has for Jack is so evident."

"I agree, Thomas. I believe she's so in love with him too. I'm so happy our son has Elizabeth in his life though. They really are perfect for each other."

Meanwhile, Jack and Elizabeth were sitting back down in the chairs by the pool still talking and laughing.

"Elizabeth, sweetheart. What is your favorite memory of me so far?"

Elizabeth took a moment to think about her answer. "Wow! That's a hard one. There's so many I love but one of my favorites would have to be that time you dedicated your performance of 'Can't Help Falling in Love' to me at the school talent show last year. And the fact it was a surprise made it even more special." She gently took his right hand with her left. "Jack, that was one of the sweetest things you've ever done. Hearing your sweet voice singing one of my favorite songs to me in front of the whole school made my heart melt and fall even deeper in love with you than I was already."

"That makes me so happy to hear how much you enjoyed it. No matter what, all I wanna do is make sure my girl knows how special she is to me."

"And all I wanna do is make sure my sweet guy knows how special is to me." She momentarily paused. "What's your favorite memory of me so far?"

"Well, Elizabeth. There's so many but one of my favorites would have to be all the moments during Friday night football games where I've either seen or heard you cheering me on from the sidelines and you blew me a kiss. I can't even tell you how much that means to me."

"Jack Thornton, no matter what. You're my guy and I am always gonna be cheering you on. I'm so proud of you, honey. You're the best quarterback Battleground Academy has ever seen."

Jack looked at his girl. "Thank you, Lizzie. That means a lot. I'm so proud of you, baby. You're the best cheerleading captain Battleground Academy has ever had."

"Awe, Jack. Thank you." She leaned over to sweetly kiss his cheek. "You're so sweet."

The rest of the day went by quickly and it was now around 8:15 PM. Jack has just pulled into the driveway of Elizabeth's house after treating her to dinner at The Grilled Cheeserie.

Once he turned the car off, he got out and walked around to open Elizabeth's door and offer his hand which didn't go unnoticed. "Thank you, Jack. Always such the gentleman."

"Of course, Elizabeth." He started holding her hand intertwining his fingers with hers as they walked to the front door. "Being chivalrous has always been something very important to me, especially when it comes to you, my love."

"Jack. I know I say this a lot, but I can't help it. You are just the sweetest guy. I honestly don't know how I got so lucky to call you mine." She shortly paused. "And thank you for a wonderful dinner and such a fun day all around. It was so enjoyable with you by my side."

Jack gently leaned Elizabeth against the front door then gently took one of her hands while also stroking her hair & gazing lovingly in her eyes. "Elizabeth, I feel the same exact way. You're the sweetest girl and I don't know how I got so lucky to have you." He took a moment before finishing what he had to say. "And you're welcome. I had so much fun spending the day with you."

After the short bout of silence between them, Jack spoke up again. "Well, Elizabeth. I don't want to leave but it's getting late, so I should probably head back home, and I don't want your parents to worry."

"I don't want them too either, but I know they trust us. I wish you didn't have to leave either. I understand though. Just be careful."

"I'm sure they do too. And I promise I will. I'll text you when I get home just, so you know I'm safe and I'll definitely call you tomorrow."

"I'm looking forward to it. Goodnight, Jack. I love you so much, babe."

"And I love you even more, darlin'. Goodnight, my sweet Elizabeth."

He sweetly gave her a loving, tender kiss on the lips then then headed back to his car. As soon as he was back in his car, he and Elizabeth blew each other a kiss and he preceded to sit there for a minute until he knew his girl was safely back inside her house.

Once he knew she was inside, he sat there in silence for a moment smiling. He then verbalized his thoughts to himself out loud as he started the car to head home. "Gosh. I love that girl so much! Lord, if it's your will, please allow us to spend our lives together. I know we've only been dating a year and need to take our time, but I truly feel with all my heart that she's the one. She's so special to me and I can't imagine my life without her."
