The sun was starting to peak at the horizon when Lightning decided to walk over and open the balcony doors. She had just woken up and thus her hair was a bit of a mess and all she wore was a white night dress that was was nearly see through. A gentle breeze greeted her that was warm to her face. It was here that she reminded herself of the obvious. "Forgot I was on an island. A beautiful tropical island."
After she finished her sentence she leaned on the door frame and crossed her arms. She saw a great majority of the other matching balconies of the other many guests that were also staying at the resort. She a woman standing on a balcony on the far side of the resort. The woman that Noctis called his wife. Lightning gave her a friendly wave and was returned with one in kind before the woman retreated back into the darkness of her room, most likely to return to her husband.
Lightning also remembered that her sister and her fiance were at the resort as well, along with a few other friends that she knew from distant battlefields in a war she thought she had forgotten about. She made a mental note to visit them later, maybe catch up with all the things she may have missed.
She heard a groan coming from the direction of the bed she had come from. It was also then that she was reminded of the hard fact that she had shared that bed with someone.
The woman turned her head and saw a bare chested man with purple blue hair looking back at her from the bed. Caius was never one to make himself look prim so his hair looked no different than when he was out fighting. He sat up and immediately saw Lightning looking at him. If the light in the room hadn't been so dim he would have noticed the small smirk she had when she saw him. That may or my not have had something to do with his state of dress.
"Morning sleepy head," she said in a quiet tone.
Caius for his part wore only black sweat pants. He had a black shirt he was also given but he had removed it sometime in the night due to the warmth he shared.
Yes, he and Lightning shared the same bed and they had gotten cozy together. She would never admit it aloud. At least not in front of others. She had a reputation to uphold and she didn't want anyone to think she and her partner were intimate.
Too bad Caius was more open about it to the point it was an open secret.
Getting up off the bed the man walked towards Lightning who turned to look outside the open door. "I see we weren't dreaming."
Lightning smirked, "You thought so too?"
"I'd be lying otherwise," said Caius.
Lightning felt a breeze wash over her filled with the scent of tropical air. She also got a chill thanks in part to what she was wearing. "Last time I wear this thing."
"Not a fan of gowns, Lightning?"
She began to walk away from the doors. The thin straps of the gown were loose and were down past her shoulders, the gown was only held up by the stretchable hemline that went across her chest. "Not just that. White is not a suitable color for me." She thought that it was more a color for her sister Serah. Made sense since she was a bride to be in the future.
Caius had other thoughts. "I think it makes you look lovely."
He hadn't been joking there.
Lightning went to the end of the bed and found a set of clothes for herself and Caius to wear for the day. "Is that so?"
"You are a woman Lightning, but you hardly ever dress like one. It's nice to see you embrace that side of yourself."
"Have I ever mentioned how annoying you are," said the woman as she reached for the black tank top addressed to her. She also took the time to pull her arms from under the straps of her gown so she was ready to get undressed.
"Many times." Shaking his head Caius crossed his arms over his chest and slowly walked over to his partner. "But is there something wrong with your feminine side?"
Before he could get within arm's reach of her Lightning quickly extended her left arm and pressed her hand against his broad chest. She caught him off guard, but the big man kept his composure. She had moved with the quickness of her namesake.
"I don't like anyone thinking i am just a wallflower or a damsel in distress. I'm a woman, but I'm far from weak."
"And I haven't forgotten that." Caius knew Lightning didn't want to be seen as weak and he greatly respected her both on and off the battlefield. Yet he also thought she took life too seriously. "But would it hurt to relax from time to time?"
This time Lightning was the one caught by surprise. "Huh?"
With surprising grace and speed Caius grabbed Lightning's extended hand and pulled her to him. She collided with him chest first and he held her arms to her sides. Lightning, though she hadn't expected this kept her face as still as a rock. Her eyes stared up at her partner with a fierceness that tried to hide the blush that began to form on her cheeks.
Caius knew he had her in his grasp, but he didn't hold on tight. If she wanted to escape he would allow it. The fact that she wasn't budging betrayed the look she gave him.
"I like it when you show that softer side of yourself," he said softly.
The blush she had tried to hide was on full display but her expression remained somewhat serious. That was to little avail. She looked away from him. "I find it embarrassing, to be honest."
"Why?"
"Remember what I said about being a damsel? You're making me feel like it and I absolutely hate it."
"You're that against it?"
"I'd rather stab myself in the foot with my own sword."
"Ouch," he said with a chuckle. He also loosened his arms around her and she took the chance to raise her arms out. She placed her hands on his arms, her fingers brushed his taut muscles, and she liked what she found. He had his hands on her lower back to keep her near. "That better?"
She looked up into his eyes, her cheeks a shade of pink similar to her hair. "A bit. Just don't do this when we are out in public. I haven't told Serah about us and I don't want her to freak out."
"I understand," Caius turned to the open balcony doors and made sure they weren't able to be seen before he made his next move. He raised one of his hands to the back of Lightning's head. He caressed the length of her hair before he lowered himself to meet her. Their lips met and Lightning, while caught unawares, closed her eyes and moaned into his mouth upon contact. Had it been in public and Caius pulled this stunt she would have easily fought him off and reprimanded him for being so crass. Yet as it were they were in private she welcomed it without so much as a fuss. Their lips danced back and forth and even in the throes of passion Lightning subconsciously tried to take control of the situation. She liked to be in charge and it was no secret to Caius.
Yet he allowed it, but not because she was winning and he didn't want to fight his partner but because he had something else in mind.
While his one hand was on the back of her neck Caius' free hand was still on her lower back. Both to keep her in place and for going a step further. While she was busy assaulting Caius' lips the man mischievously bunched up the fabric of her gown and pulled down. With surprising ease the gown went down the length of Lightning's body and fell to the floor to lie in a pool at the woman's feet. Lightning had felt the gown being pulled down and was only able to give a yelp of surprise as her skin was exposed to the air. She pulled her lips away from his. She looked down and noticed her bare chest pressing against his. Her chest was already heaving for air after the game they had been playing and was rubbing against him. "Damn it..."
His deed done Caius smiled down at her embarrassed expression. He was proud of himself. "Something wrong?"
"I could have undressed myself, you know."
"Where's the fun in that?" It was a rhetorical question and needed no answer.
Lightning rolled her eyes.
Caius brought his lips to her ear and whispered in a seductive tone with that husky voice, "Now, where were we?"
Those four words sent a chill up Lightning's spine. Try as she might she couldn't stop it. It also sent chills across her skin, giving her goosebumps that Caius felt as his hands traveled to her lower back. Yet the part that got Lightning was the hardness she felt as her chest rubbed against his. The tips of her breasts were like pebbles against the wall of Caius' chest and with each movement they sent a shock to her sensitive regions.
He was making her feel weak in her legs and she hated him for it. But at the same time she wanted him to continue to touch her "Damn you..."
Her legs shook but before she could fall Caius moved his hands and raised one of her legs up to rest around one of his. His hand rested on her thigh,
"Admit it, you love it."
She brought her arms up to wrap around his neck. She didn't want to hear him talk like that-nor did she want him to know how right he was. But she also had a point to make and what better time than now to bring it to the surface. "Also, I need you to stay out of sight."
Raising an eyebrow Caius listened.
Lightning lowered her leg, feeling her strength return to her limbs, though she noticed Caius' hand still held her thigh. "I don't want Serah to know. Until I tell her myself, I need you to stay here."
Knowing full well why Caius didn't complain, as much as he didn't like being confined to a single space for a long period of time he would respect his lover's wish. For now. "Very well."
With that out of the way Lightning let her playful side show itself, which was extremely rare. "Now, shut up and kiss me."
Caius obliged with zeal.
At first Noctis heard the gentle sound of waves, and then, before he opened his eyes he felt something soft touch his lips. Delicately but with passion while a hand caressed his cheek. A kiss had awoken him, and he found himself wanting more.
"Good morning, my King."
Luna.
The King of Insomnia opened his eyes and there he saw his beautiful wife hovering over him like an angel sent from heaven. She wore a white strapless nightdress that along with her free flowing blonde hair helped her with that angelic appearance. Noctis felt blessed to have her in his life, for he loved her very much.
"Hello, my Queen."
She smiled, and kissed him once more. "It's time to get up, dear."
Before she could move to let him up, Noctis grabbed her upper arm to hold her in place and raised himself up to kiss her. She followed him back down, not relinquishing the embrace their lips were in.
After a few moments of the intimate act did they let themselves go.
Noctis for one felt satisfied. "Now, i will get up."
Luna's response was a small giggle.
Turns out it was not a moment too soon as a moogle came to their door with a special gift. It pushed a silver cart into the room. On it was a collection of silver platters and glasses for breakfast.
My name is Mooge and I will be your server this morning, Your Majesties, kupo."
Noctis had been shirtless before and put a shirt on. Luna went straight to the table and sat down. She was hungry and breakfast sounded appealing.
"Thank you, Mooge," said the Queen before she went about her meal.
Noctis eventually went over to the table and joined his wife. A breeze from outside came through the open doors and poured into the room. That, and with the sound of the waves of the ocean, made Noctis think about the day that lay ahead. "So, what should we do today?"
Taking a small drink of milk from a glass Luna set it down and turned towards the balcony door. "I, for one, am eager to see more of the island. Long as it doesn't get too hot."
The moogle noted her concern. "Not to worry, Your Majesty. This island has near perfect weather every day. We also have darn near perfect predictions and ensure it is safe to go outside in case it is hot out there, kupo."
Luna seemed satisfied with the answer. Noctis on the other hand, seemed a bit hesitant when he heard 'near perfect' multiple times in a single breath. While he hoped he was just being overly cautious, he also had to be a bit suspicious. He didn't want to doubt the moogle so he kept quiet on his doubts.
Only when the little creature left the room did he speak up. "I'm not so sure about that."
Taking note of the doubt in his voice Luna set her fork on the table. "I agree, however, we are on their island. They must know more about it than we can be led to believe. I say we take their word for it."
The King let his Queen have the final say in the matter. He was hungry and wanted to eat.
The meal itself didn't last long as Luna wanted to get something in her stomach so she could go outside and explore the island. Noctis also wanted to go out and see what this resort had to offer, though the heat was going to irk his excitement. Wearing all black in a hot environment he had only himself to blame for that. Yet he would endure for Luna's sake. He didn't want to spoil the fun she was going to have.
After getting dressed in a black t-shirt and matching shorts that reached just below his knees Noctis waited for his wife to come out of the bathroom. Without her maids around there was little she could do to make herself look prim. So when she finally came out the King wasn't expecting much.
He was wrong to underestimate his wife when it came to her wanting to look good.
Luna came out of the bathroom in a white sundress with thin shoulder straps. The length of the dress stopped short of her knees and, to Noctis' surprise, the skirt had sylleblossoms embroidered into the fabric. How did the moogles get a hold of that?
The Queen was finishing with her hair, which was braided in her normal style. Again, Noctis hadn't expected her to do it by herself. And he wasn't going to find out how. He liked a little mystery to his wife. It made her all the more alluring.
"Ready to go, Luna?"
"Of course, I just need to grab the shoes," she replied as she finished up her hair.
Still, Noctis felt a bit...odd seeing his normally modest wife dressed in a short skirted dress. He couldn't help but wonder aloud. "You sure you're alright in that dress?"
Putting on heeled white sandals Luna took note of her husband's concern. She smiled at him. "It is different, but I like it." She walked up to her husband and place a hand on his cheek. "No need to worry about my dignity, Noct. I'll live."
Noct. The way she had said his nickname reminded him of his pals back home. It was like she had been part of the crew back in those days. It made him feel secure about it now.
"Okay, if you say so."
As if to put a further stamp on that Luna leaned in and kissed her husband lovingly on the lips. He savored it, but found himself wanting more as she pulled away. "Now, shall we go?"
He nodded once, and Luna held his hand as they left the room.
Of course that jovial exit was greeted with the blazing hot sun the moment the two royals reached the sand.
"Holy Astrals this is hot!"
That was Noctis' first reaction to the setting as his head felt like the top of a candle and his feet burnt in the sand. Luna had at least come prepared, having been given a sun umbrella by the moogles in the lounge. Sadly there wasn't enough room for both her and Noctis under its protective veil. That left him with walking beside her down the stretch of beach.
"I think I can squeeze you under here if we try," she offered.
Noctis appreciated the offer but he had a better idea. "Follow me."
The two walked to the edge of the beach where the tree line of the jungle met the sand, and with that the shade it offered. The canopy was thick and the shade offered protection from the sun to the point where Luna put her umbrella down to walk with Noctis.
"You know that was a waste of an umbrella, Luna."
Carrying the item in her hand Luna shrugged her delicate shoulders. "I want to be with you." She took hold of his hand with her free one.
He gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "Very well."
The two walked on and coming to a well marked path at the base of the jungle decided to take the path deeper into the foliage. Noctis took note of how humid the area was, but decided that it was better than being out in the blazing sun.
Luna put her umbrella next to a tree and let go of her husband's hand. Noctis put his hands in his pockets as he saw his wife run around a thicker tree. Must have spotted something that caught her attention he thought.
"Well, we're here, how should we start our vacation?"
The King turned around expecting to see his Queen behind him but when he didn't he spoke her name to get her attention. She didn't reply.
"Huh. Where'd she-" He suddenly sensed something behind him and sharply turned and came face to face with his wife. She gave his lips a quick kiss before bolting away in a fit of giggles.
Finding her sudden playfulness surprising, Noctis nonetheless smirked before giving chase. "Get back here!"
They ran beyond the path and into a thicket of trees. Luna had put a good distance between herself and her husband but Noctis had a trick to close the gap. He began to use his intricate power of warping to try and cut his wife off. Yet she was somehow faster than him and made twists and turns whenever she could to mess up his projections. Eventually a much thicker tree came between them and they found themselves on opposite sides of it.
Luna was panting, the rough terrain and her choice of footwear made it difficult for her to move at times. Noctis wasn't that way. His warping made that possible.
They playfully went back and forth, and Noctis reached for Luna but she just managed to avoid him.
"I'm going to get you eventually."
His wife gave him a coquettish grin, "Catch me if you can, dear."
"Challenge accepted, honey-" he lunged for her. Luna backed up to avoid him but she hadn't expected a tree root to trip her as she did so. She fell back with a yelp. She would landed on the hard jungle floor had Noctis been fast enough to catch her. He cradled the back of her head with one hand and the other tried to cushion the fall.
"Got you," said the King. Then he added with a grin, "In more than one way."
"Thank you." She took a deep breath, realizing now that her game was up. She put her arms around Noctis' neck and smiled up at him lovingly.
"So what made you so playful all of a sudden? I didn't know you were inclined to play tag when the urge arises."
"I am not sure what came over me. I suppose I though being a little playful would be different," replied Luna. Her fingers danced in his hair while they locked eyes. "Did you like it?"
"Of course I did." Noctis had always thought his wife was too dignified to play a game like that well into her adult years. "It was a welcome surprise. Got anymore?"
Luna responded by pulling him in close to pepper him with light kisses, speaking between words. "You'll find out soon, my love."
Knowing that a patch of soft grass was next to them Noctis quickly rolled over while holding onto his wife. She yelped in surprise but when she noticed she was now lying on top of him she just kissed him some more.
That was definitely a start to what was bound to be a wonderful vacation.
