A/N: Yes. I brought this chapter back for reasons.
In my wake, I lay there alone.
Wind caressing my skin, as small prickly points itched my limbs.
Light. I need. Light.
Every fibre of my being desired for light; my eyes flew open and saw a world blanketed in darkness. The stars were out. Above this world stood a crumbled, asteroid moon. I stretched out my hand and called upon the name of a constellation I knew.
Within seconds one dot of light fell down from the sky and dived towards me; revealing a gleaming sphere now trapped within my hands. My slackened limbs did their best to sit up as I pressed the star fragment into the centre of my chest. Only then did I realise my skin didn't illuminate as strongly as before.
How long was I out? When did I-
Then I remembered.
A door. Starcatcher. A servant of the Empire. A criminal. Then-
Exile.
I was exiled. I felt the star essence slowly replenishing me, bringing warmth to my skin-
Warm?
I stared down at my dimly-lit skin and knew that my body was already beginning its altercation process. A Starcatcher like me would always mould their bodies as best as they can to suit the lands they intend to explore. However, that doesn't stop the fact that my biology still craved for a radiant light source. Before long, my body consumed the star essence in my hands, bringing my body enough strength for me to stand.
The world surrounding me was as good as a blanket of darkness. Beneath each step I took felt like blades of grass scraping against my clothed legs. After a while, the grass didn't seem to end. There was no light in sight apart from the stars above. In fact, the sky looked larger than the land I was stepping on.
An open field?
I turned around to see what these night-blind eyes could distinguish. I shuddered at the thought of the possibility I have fallen into a world of eternal darkness. I could vaguely remember the details of the charge that led to my exile; all I could remember was that pained feeling before the guards throttled me into the door without regard.
A fitting punishment for a Starcatcher.
In the likelihood of landing into a world of eternal light was slim, after all, many worlds have been discovered thanks to the door. It was all possible they entered a random co-ordinate before they sent me here. Now it seems this land will be my grave.
The grass rustled from a short distance from where I stood. I looked to the source of the noise.
Garbling sounds echoed in the cold air.
A denizen of this world perhaps?
The garbling grew louder, surrounding me.
I looked to the sky once more and stretched out my hand.
"Gellada," I summoned. "Come forth!"
Another sphere of light fell into my hand, with a tight grip, the light fused into a crystal to help illuminate my vision. Four black creatures. Small bodies and large heads with horns.
This is-
The creatures garbled once again, carrying crude batons that were twice its own size. Whatever these denizens are, animosity is definitely present.
One lunged forward, raising its weapon in the air at me. I raised the crystalized star brighter, bringing about a strong flash of light to blind them. The garbling became squeals of pain, dropping their weapons and shielding their eyes from my poisoned light. Upon guaranteeing them immobilized, with my now-altered legs, I ran as far away as I could.
Just as I continued to run, the darkened sky turned over into a soft blue. This world's asteroid moon slowly sank into the earth as its dominant star shed its first light onto the ground. As the night ebbed away, the creatures I left behind began to take shape before my eyes. The trick of shadow and darkness made them look more threatening than what they had appeared. Their small bodies curled in pain, moaning and groaning in agony over their eyes.
Good.
I continued pressing forward across the dark field, the giant star climbing up to the horizon. I ceased at the sight as the sun unveiled the world that had been hidden from the shadows of the night.
Mountains; grasslands; old ruins. The overwhelming sight of green that spread itself across the world and rolled down on uneven ground.
What is this place?
My red eyes grew wider, the soft winds billowing through my tattered cape. If this world is to be my grave, there was no reason for me to decline such a beautiful sight.
