well, here it is. chapter fifty of my first ever, and my only, 'Vampire Knight' fanfiction, 'Life with Yuuki: 'Vampire Knight' as Told by Zero'. this fiftieth chapter of my 'Vampire Knight' fanfiction is a good long one-thousand-five-hundred-fifty-one words of storyline, give or take a comment from yours truly disguised as an author's comment or two hidden within the storyline basis. the storyline for this fortieth chapter, as per usual, doesn't include this explanatory headnote, right here, nor does it include the (mandatory) disclaimer which makes up the paragraph following this explanatory headnote. this fiftieth chapter is also the first one amongst all the chapters in this fanfiction which takes place during the eighth episode of the 'Vampire Knight' anime, 'The Gunshot of Sorrow'. I'm getting close to writing and posting my favorite part of the anime's first season in this fanfiction. OK, enough with the explanatory headnote, let's get on with the disclaimer.

disclamation: I don't own 'Vampire Knight' in the manga or in the anime. I can do nothing except write this fanfiction as I hate on Viz Media for the way they ended the 'Vampire Knight' anime. I hate Kaname Kuuran so much, I would kill him if I was in the series, myself, especially with what he does just to get the mindless followers that are the Night Class students off of his back. anyway, Matsuri Hino-san owns the manga and its sequel 'Vampire Knight Memories'. I haven't read much of the manga, but then again, I notice an insane amount of resemblance towards 'Vampire Knight' and my one true manga, 'Fruits Basket'. if you ask me, those are both far better love stories than 'Twilight' could have ever even hoped to be.

It was just a night at Cross Academy like any other; my dearest Yuuki and I were on our way to secure another successful visit from a parent/guardian/family member to one of the school's students.

This time around, however, it was none other than a family member to someone from the Night Class, and it was not just any Night Class student's family member. It was none other than Vice Moon Dormitory President, Takuma Ichijo's, own grandfather, Asato Ichijo. Despite them being grandfather and grandson, Asato 'Ichio' Ichijo was absolutely nothing like his grandson. Where Takuma was the closest vampire to even acting like a human, and a very freedom-loving human, at that, Ichio was the vampire world's senator and an incredibly strict and frightening beast in human form.

My dear Yuuki and I both learnt this about Takuma and his grandfather's joint relationship when she and I had first stopped by the Moon Dormitory to get signatures from the old vampiric geezer. We could hear what Ichio was saying to his own grandson from the other side of the door very clearly. I did not have a lot of thought towards it, but I did think one thing about it; the vampire senator was definitely not a friendly or even a kindly old man, anything except for that much.

Asato 'Ichio' Ichijo (through the door): Takuma, it seems Lord Kaname has a great deal of trust in you. You keep serving him as well as you have been and keep an eye on him, as well. For those are the only reasons I am allowing you to stay at this academy. Is that clear?

I could not believe it. I just could not believe how unsympathetic Asato 'Ichio' Ichijo truly was towards even his own flesh and blood. He was even just as apathetic as that Kaname Kuuran might have been towards me, as a matter of fact. And that Asato Ichijo was being as apathetic as that towards his own grandson. It was just another reason I hated vampires as they were not very kind even to their own flesh and blood, or whatever they were made of.

That was when that old vampiric geezer opened the doors to the Moon Dormitory with his vampire powers, no doubt. Of course, I knew what Takuma had felt about his grandfather's reasons for letting the young vampire stay at Cross Academy. I knew for a fact that Takuma, for all of his own vampirisms, had the emotions of a human, albeit an innocent and slightly scatterbrained human just like my beloved Yuuki was. He still had the heart of a human, nonetheless. I knew plenty of humans who acted more like vampires than their own species.

The minute that Asato Ichijo opened the Moon Dormitory's door up with his vampire powers, Takuma decided to finally man-up by a little and bomb his own grandfather with his reasons for wanting to stay at Cross Academy. Of course, I knew for a fact that he had wanted to continue attending the school for the sake of that Kaname Kuuran and not to be his senator grandfather's eyes and ears at Cross Academy, and I might have hated even Takuma for wanting to protect someone like that Kaname Kuuran, but I knew that my dearest Yuuki would be happy with him for doing such a thing.

Takuma Ichijo: Grandfather, I'm afraid you don't understand.

That Asato Ichijo just looked back at his own grandson with a suspicious look in his eyes.

Takuma Ichijo (continued): You see, I will only do what is best for my friend.

As I had said before, I could not easily say that I supported any attempt to protect that Kaname Kuuran from anyone, but I understood the idea of loyalty to friends.

Then, that Asato Ichijo had to make some kind of hateful remark about Cross Academy in front of my dear Yuuki and I as we both stepped towards the door to the Moon Dormitory.

Asato Ichijo: It is you who does not understand. Make no mistake; friendship based on the fictitious peace in the small world of this academy_

Then, my dearest Yuuki interrupted that vampiric geezer.

Yuuki Cross: Cross Academy is peaceful!

It was then that both Takuma and the vampire senator who was his grandfather noticed my Yuuki as she and I stood in the doorway.

Takuma Ichijo: Yuuki!

My Yuuki then stood as proud and tall as she could which was not exactly enough with having me at her side, which I technically was. I was simply out of sight from the doorway into the Moon Dormitory.

Yuuki Cross: Um, so… the headmaster said he would like for you to donate a lot to the academy this time around, as well. Um, hold on. You are actually Takuma's grandfather, aren't you? We are here to escort you!

I guess that those last five words were my cue to make myself known to the light of the Moon Dormitory's doorway. I came out from the outer layers of the doorway.

Yours Truly: Follow us. We'll take you to the headmaster's office.

The elderly vampire senator just scoffed at the fact that my Yuuki and I had been the ones assigned by the idiot headmaster to take him to the hopelessly stupid old geezer's office back at his house on the campus.

Asato Ichijo: Hmm. Very well.

That Asato Ichijo, Takuma's surprisingly unfeeling grandfather, suddenly began heading into the direction in which I was waiting for him along with my dearest Yuuki to be his escorts to that idiot headmaster's office.

That was when we all heard a voice from atop the stairs to the Moon Dormitory's building.

Voice: Ichio!

I knew that voice, alright. It was none other than the pain of my existence, the only other pureblood vampire than the woman who butchered my family who tormented every fiber of my being with his mere presence every single time we crossed paths with one another. The voice from atop the stairs had belonged to the one and only…

Yuuki Cross: Huh? Kaname, what are_

I truthfully had no idea as to exactly what was going on with my darling Yuuki at the time, but if I had to make an educated guess, I would have had to say that she was so flustered by her beloved Kaname's presence in the room alone that she could barely even speak.

Kaname Kuuran: Thanks for coming. I look forward to seeing you again in the future.

There that Kaname Kuuran went again with his little act of behaving as a perfect honor student to the public eye. Then, that Asato Ichijo gave that Kaname Kuuran a look of disgust disguised as approval that only a true wolf in sheep's clothing would have given to another.

Asato Ichijo: The same goes for me, as well. Good night.

The minute that Asato Ichijo was done talking to that Kaname Kuuran, of course, I began walking him to the headmaster's office. I still secretly listened in on the conversation between that Kaname Kuuran and my precious little Yuuki since she stayed behind for a bit.

Kaname Kuuran: Yuuki.

Yuuki Cross: Umm, umm, yes?

Kaname Kuuran: Good work.

Yuuki Cross: Um, uh, oh no, I, um, I just…

There she went, getting completely flustered over a guy who more than likely did not deserve her undying love or forgiveness, I bet. That was when I heard darling Yuuki finally finish what she had wanted to tell that Kaname Kuuran.

Yuuki Cross (continued): I just wanted to say 'thank you for yesterday'.

What would she have wanted to thank him for yesterday about? It was not as though he actually did anything for her yesterday, unless… unless she assumed that that Kaname Kuuran was the one who had placed that blanket upon her as she slept on the couch in the late evening. That was when I had learnt precisely how invisible I was to my Yuuki compared to that Kaname Kuuran. I supposed that the only reason he could ever need not to come clean with her about several things was so that he could hoard all of her affection for himself.

Yuuki Cross (continued): Ex-excuse me!

A/N: wow! what a find Kaname Kuuran is. not only is he a closet jerk face, but he's also a credit miser, as well as a miser for the admiration of others. he just hoards it all for himself. he's basically a closet homewrecker and a secret woman hater to boot.

Yuuki then joined back up with that Asato Ichijo and I on our way as the heartless senator's escorts to the idiotic headmaster of Cross Academy. What killed me even more right then and there was the look of sheer happiness on her face. It was not as though it were any ordinary happiness felt by my darling Yuuki, though. Oh no, no, no, no. The happiness she felt right then and there was nothing short of the happiness she would only ever feel after having visited with her beloved Kaname Kuuran.
