Sorry if this chapter has some grammatical errors, I tried to reach out to my beta but I guess they were busy, so I decided to post this chapter. Again, apologies for this being later than I hoped, but here is the newest chapter of Silver Spectre:

The silence in the back room of Tukson's Book Trade hung heavily at Weiss's words. Four sets of eyes gazed at Blake, who was unable to pry her own from the floor. Jaune looked at her with a mix of confusion and fear, Yang with concern, and Ruby with apprehension. Weiss's gaze, however, burned with a cold intensity the likes of which Ruby couldn't recall ever seeing.

"I-I can explain," Blake started to say, but was cut off when Weiss held up her hand.

"Save it. No matter what you say, it won't change the facts. You're a former member of the White Fang, and a high ranking one I'd wager. I don't need to hear anything else," She spat out, causing Blake's feline ears to fall flat against her head.

"Hey! Don't talk to her like that!" Yang cried out in protest. "You have no idea what she's been through! She left the Fang behind because she hated what they'd become, and she still is haunted by what she had to do when she was a part of it. Have a little sympathy!"

Weiss rolled her eyes and gave Yang a sarcastic look. "Oh, I'm sorry. I should forgive the fact that she was a part of a murderous organization that's responsible for the deaths of thousands of my father's workers because she feels bad?" The ex-heiress's voice rose as she spoke.

"It's no wonder that the White Fang hates you Schnees," Yang spat as she said the name. "If your family is half as bad as you, it makes sense that the faunus you keep as slaves would get fed up with you."

"And their frustrations with us warrant the murder of countless innocents?" Weiss shot back.

"N-no, that's not what I..." Yang tried to say, but Weiss didn't give her a chance to continue.

"The White Fang is a criminal organization, not a government. You can't get a high rank because of your bureaucratic skills. The only way to move up is either to be good at killing, or good at getting others to kill for you," She said as she glared at Blake with suspicion.

"I... I swear, I regret everything I ever did as part of the White Fang," Blake stammered, but Weiss rolled her eyes.

"That's great, you feel bad about the fact that you murdered innocent people. Congratulations, you're on your way to having actual morals," The white-haired girl said, clapping slowly and sarcastically. Blake's gaze hardened and she finally brought her eyes up to look Weiss in the eye.

"Innocents? Hardly. The people your father hired to manage his slave mines weren't exactly pure of heart. Maybe they didn't deserve to die, but they certainly didn't deserve to go unpunished," Blake hissed as her ears shot up.

"So you decided to take justice into your own hands rather than let the law punish them," Weiss countered.

"The law? This is Atlas we're talking about. Why would they ever side with a faunus over a human?" Blake cried out angrily.

"It's not as if the Atlesian people are heartless. We may not be the most moral of peoples, but we wouldn't just let injustices go unpunished," Weiss said haughtily, but paused when Blake let out a bitter laugh.

"You seriously don't realize? Tell me, Schnee, have you ever actually ever been to one of your father's mines?" The raven-haired woman asked, to which Weiss gave a snort.

"I don't need to have seen one to know how they work. My father has strict regulations for how his mines are to be managed, and frequently makes inspections to ensure they are up to the standard upheld by the Schnee family. He may be a corrupt and uncaring man, but my father is not cruel, even to those he considers less than human," Weiss declared, but Blake just shook her head sadly.

"I'm honestly envious of how naive you are. The faunus don't hate Jacques Schnee just because he owns slaves, but because he is the most vicious oppressor of our people in all of Remnant. Compared to your father, the White Fang might as well be saints," Blake spat venomously.

"That's bold talk for someone who claims to have left the Fang behind," Weiss countered. The noble's thoughts, however, were far different. Blake's words confused her, as she knew her father was not overly cruel to his slaves. He cared little for their safety, and their lives were the furthest thing from comfortable, but he never went out of his way to cause them suffering.

"I once went to one of your father's mines. I and a few comrades were trying to infiltrate so that we could strike from within while our allies on the outside distracted the guards. While I was there, I saw faunus being forced to fight over scraps of food with their fellow faunus, all while the guards laughed," Blake said with a distant look in her eyes.

"I was forced to watch as faunus children were purposefully separated from their parents and told that if they worked hard enough, they'd get to see them again. I had to watch as my people were forced to work until their legs gave out beneath them, only for them to be punished for that. I had to watch the guards pit us against each other for their own entertainment. I had to watch a faunus kill his own brother because the guards couldn't be bothered to execute him themselves. The White Fang has committed atrocities for a just cause, but your father has no such reasons."

Weiss's eyes widened as Blake told her story, knowing from the conviction in her voice that she wasn't lying. Yet the girl with the ice-blue eyes could not bring herself to truly believe that such monstrous acts were her father's fault. They must've happened in some remote location, far from her father's influence, where rules were less enforced.

"Now you see, Ice Princess?" Yang asked sarcastically. "The White Fang may be a cruel and savage group of criminals, but they exist because of your father, and nobles just like him. So maybe, instead of acting like Blake is some kind of monster, you should apologize for what you've done."

"What she's done? Yang, are you stupid?" Jaune finally cried out. "We all can agree that Jacques Schnee is a monster, but Weiss ran away from him. She wants nothing to do with him. She's done nothing to the faunus to warrant needing an apology, except not knowing about their plight. Can Blake say the same?" The blonde boy shouted passionately.

"Jaune, are you kidding me? How can you side with her? She's been harassing Blake for days because she's a faunus, and now that she feels even more justified she's going to continue doing it!" Yang shouted in return.

"You're the one who brought a former member of the group that wants to kill her entire family with us alone into the woods without telling her! I'd say she has a good reason to be angry with you!" He fired back with uncharacteristic fury. Weiss opened her mouth to continue, but was cut off before she could.

"Weiss, that's enough! This is getting nowhere!" Ruby called out to her friend over the sea of voices. Weiss wanted to argue back, but Ruby's words resonated with her. There was no point in arguing right now, not when they had a more pressing matter to deal with. She took a calming breath and shot Ruby a brief but thankful look.

"Everyone shut the hell up!" She screamed over the voices, causing silence to once more fall over the store. The owner of the shop, Tukson, looked up at them from where he sat, tied up against the front desk.

"We don't have time to be arguing like this. It's only a matter of time before someone realizes that the sentry is gone, and Torchwick won't stick around for long once he does," She reasoned, receiving three nods and one thumbs-up that only she could see. "I don't know what Torchwick and the White Fang are doing working together, but it's clearly something big. We can finish this argument later, but for now, we need to focus!"

Yang took a deep breath and sighed, before giving a reluctant nod. "I hate to say it, but you're right. We will finish this later, but for now, we need to stop whatever operation Torchwick is running."

"Agreed. But you can't expect the four of us to be able to fight off Torchwick and whatever goons he has with him, as well as who knows how many White Fang grunts we're dealing with here," Blake stated. "That's not even mentioning what we'll do if we run into a high-ranking member of the White Fang. Anyone higher than a lieutenant would require one of us to focus solely on them to have a chance."

"Let's try and figure out where Torchwick and the others are, first," Jaune stated. "There has to be some kind of secret passage or something they went through."

"Yeah. Everyone, start looking," Yang said boisterously. At her words, the four of them, plus Weiss's constant companion, began to scour the book store, inspecting every plank of wood and each bookshelf for some sign of... anything, really.

Blake ran her finger across the bookshelves, occasionally pulling on the spine of a book to see if there was some kind of trigger she could activate. Yang had climbed onto the desk and was peering into the rafters. Eventually, she waved her faunus friend over and gestured up to the ceiling. Nodding, Blake ran up on to the desk and leapt into the rafters and began to search them with her keen eyes.

Jaune was in the backroom, moving the barrels and crates to see if they concealed a trapdoor. So far, none had done so, but the barrels were heavy, so he had plenty more to check. Weiss walked around the edge of the store, dragging the tip of her rapier along the spot where the wall met the floor to see if she could sense any magic. Finding nothing, she began to test each floorboard to see if it reacted to her aura when she pushed some into it.

In the end, it was Ruby who found the secret. Dissipating into a silvery flame, the deceased girl slipped through the gaps between the wooden planks to see what lay beneath them. Underneath, there was a small gap less than a centimeter tall between the building's foundations and the wooden floorboards. She moved in her strange formless form to try and find something of note when she nearly fell into a hole.

Underneath the floorboards, there was a jagged crack in the foundations that went down into the dark, farther than she could see with the light she naturally emitted. 'Looking' up, she couldn't see the thin cracks of light that slipped through most of the floorboards directly above her, meaning something must be blocking the view.

Phasing through the nearest gap in the floor, she arose right next to the large desk at the center of the store. Ruby waved over Weiss and began to gesture at the desk, hoping Weiss got her message. Thankfully, the white-haired girl understood and walked over, saying a few words to Yang to get her to stop standing on it, and pushed the desk aside with ease, despite its size. Ruby could tell that whoever had made this desk knew their stuff, as it was obviously enchanted to be far less heavy then it looked. She wanted to take it apart and study it, but she couldn't really do that since she had no hands.

Beneath the desk were several planks that clearly were not attached to the others. Weiss called Blake and Jaune over, and together the four of them moved the loose planks to reveal a gaping hole that went into the darkness, wide enough for a person to go down it with room to spare, and a rickety-looking ladder that was nailed into the foundations.

"What now?" Blake asked.

Weiss brought her hand to her chin and pondered the raven-haired woman's words for a moment. "Let's come up with a plan. Any ideas?"

Yang raised a hand sarcastically. "Oh! Pick me! Pick me! I've got a great idea!" She called out in a mocking voice. At Weiss's deadpan stare, she let out a barking laugh. "We can burn down the store and try and smoke them out of wherever they're hiding," she offered. Tukson's eyes went wide as he began to struggle against his bonds.

"No, the fire could spread to other buildings. Not to mention, their hiding place might be far away enough that the fire wouldn't spread to them," Jaune explained, shooting down the idea.

"We could interrogate the storekeeper to try and find their location, then arrange an ambush with the city guard?" Weiss tried, but Blake shook her head.

"That'd take too long. He's not likely to spill his secrets, and even if he did it'd take too much time to mobilize the city guard to surround a building," She explained. "Our best bet would probably be to go down there ourselves to try and ambush the leaders while one of us goes to get the guards to deal with all of the grunts," The feline faunus explained, giving a glance toward Jaune as she finished her plan.

The blonde knight-in-training gave a relieved nod. "Yeah. I'll take the shopkeep with me to the garrison in the Commercial District. Once I mention the White Fang, I should be coming back here with at least ten well-trained soldiers ready to make some arrests," He declared.

"Try and see if you can get more. And make sure to hurry, otherwise, there's a chance that they'll realize something's wrong and disappear," Yang told him, receiving a nod in response.

At that, the lanky boy drew his sword and pulled Tukson to his feet, prodding him with the flat part as he guided him out of the shop and into the streets. Giving the three of them one last determined nod, Jaune opened the door and marched Tukson toward the center of the Commercial District. Once he had left the store, Weiss turned to Blake.

"What should we be expecting down there?"

The faunus just shrugged as she stepped onto the ladder. "With the White Fang, you never know. It could be just a few grunts," She started but trailed off.

"Or it could be a few hundred grunts," Yang finished for her, following her friend down into the hole.

"Lovely," Weiss muttered to herself. Stepping onto the leader, she took a deep breath and gave Ruby a determined nod before climbing down into the darkness below.

Sorry for this one being so short. Originally this chapter and the next were going to be together, but I decided while typing that one out that it would be too long. since I hadn't updated in a while, I decided to find a good place to break it into smaller pieces then post what I already had finished. Unfortunately, my options were to either have a really short chapter or end on a pretty big cliffhanger, and I've done enough of the latter in this story.

We're finally getting back into the action in this story, which hopefully means I'll be more encouraged to write, since fight scenes are my favorite thing to write. You can expect some long ones coming up in the next few chapters.

I'm pretty excited to be adding the White Fang into my story, since they bring something no other villain in RWBY really has: Numbers. Sure, Salem and Team WTCH are all extremely powerful in both RWBy and likely this fic, and Roman has control over the crime in Vale, but the White Fang has organization and international reach. Like Torchwick, they'll be less threatening without modern technology, but they won't be as hindered by it.

One of my biggest dissappointments with the show was how they handled the White Fang, and I'm not talking about their whole motivation. That was fine enough, but the White Fang never really acted like a whole organization outside of the end of Volume 2 and Volume 3. We see hints about it's internal structure in Volume 4 and 5, but we never get to see where they plan, how the members are ranked, where they train recruits, where they get their supplies, and other stuff. I would honeslty have been fine with just a throwaway line in Volume 4 or 5 from Blake saying that the White Fang recieved supplies from sympathsizers in Menagerie or something like that.

What little we see of the actual organization part of this evil organization is pretty interesting. In Volume 2 episode 1, Emerald and Mercury mention the book Third Crusade to Tukson, which tips him off to the fact they're working with the Fang. In this fic, I chose to interpret that as some Manifesto of sorts, as seen last chapter. We also see in the Adam trailer released before Volume 6 that Sienna Khan participates in SDC raids alongside Adam, showing that the reason she's leader isn't just because of her ideals, but because she's strong enough to command them. And the White Fang recruitment from Volume 2 was an interesting plot point, but that was less connected to the Fang and more a part of Cinder's plan.

The White Fang is probably the most morally grey part of the show, aside from Raven, and that's one of the main appeals about them. There is no easy solution to the issue they present, becaus even if the characters get rid of them the systemic issues in Remnant that caused the Fang still exist. That's why I'm not a fan of how RoosterTeeth has seemingly dropped the whole White Fang plot after Adam's death. Who knows though, they might prove me wrong.

However, I do feel the need to bring something up. Because of recent events in America, I'm worried that parallels between them and the fictional events presented in this story may be made. It is not my intent to compare the actions of this fictional group of radical terrorists to the peaceful actions of real people, but if any of you readers ever feel my words have crossed a line, PLEASE tell me. I likely genuinely would not realize if I was being offensive on accident, but that isn't my wish. Please let me know in either a PM or a review if I ever accidently cross a line, as I'm pretty dumb socially and likely wouldn't realize I had. The goal of this fic is not to mirror real world issues, and though similarities can be found I do not wish to draw parallels between them, so let me know if something needs to be changed.

On that note, I hope you all enjoyed the latest chapter of Silver Spectre. If you have any constructive criticism, please feel free to leave a review, and I hope all of you have a nice day.
