It had taken Phantom and Deadpool almost a full week to work their way through the smuggling ring, but now here they were, settled on a roof opposite the warehouse that had been identified as the central hub for the entire trafficking operation, just waiting for the sun to finish going down. According to their 'informant', half of the entire gang lived in that warehouse, and the rest would be there after sundown. As Wade had said, it was the perfect opportunity to take the entire operation out in one fell only potential difficulty in their plan would be managing to keep every one of the so called 'Merchandise' alive while Phantom and Deadpool massacred the kidnappers and traffickers.
Phantom shifted where he hovered invisibly at Wades shoulder. He never realized how slowly the sun set, before. Wade glanced towards where Phantom was hovering and shushed him. Phantom frowned at him, and shifted impatiently again. He had no idea how Wade could stand to stay so still, when he was the living one, who was laying on what must have been an uncomfortable roof, and Phantom, who was a ghost, couldn't manage to hold still at all. Phantom sucked in a steadying breath, letting it expand his lungs comfortably. Wade glared at where Phantom was. Phantom glared back, despite the fact that he knew Wade couldn't even see him.
It was painfully quiet. The sun was almost completely set, streaking the sky with reds and purples and pinks. It was quite the sight, but Wade and Phantom focused only on the dingy, nondescript warehouse. It was a good thing they did, because just as the sun disappeared over the horizon, four trucks pulled up, and a surprising amount of people piled out of them, before starting to unload the crates stacked in the beds of the trucks. More people from inside the warehouse emerged to help, unloading the crates and bringing them inside. Phantoms core burned with anger, knowing just what was likely to be in those crates.
Movement next to him grabbed his attention, and he looked over to see that Wade had moved out of his previous position laying on the ground, and into a crouch. Through the Deadpool mask, Phantom could see the Wades expression was cold and furious. And yet, after he had moved into a crouch, Wade stayed on the roof, watching the men carry crates into the warehouse, and waiting for the rest of the light to fade out of the sky.
Phantom was jittering with impatience by the time Wade finally gave the signal to move in. As per the plan, as soon as Wade indicated it was time, Phantom grabbed him and flew him to the ground, phasing through the wall before dropping him and immediately moving to attack, the world blurring red around the edges as Deadpool sliced and diced his way indiscriminately through men and women both. Phantom did the same with fangs and claws and ectoplasm so cold it burned human flesh, all the while maintaining invisibility.
Out of the corner of his eye, Phantom caught sight of a little girl, no older than Dani appeared, tied to a bed and crying. Time slowed as one of the traffickers cut her ties and pulled her towards him, pointing a gun at her head as he did so. The mans eyes darted around wildly as he shook. Tears streamed down the little girls face, and the whirlwind that was Wade slowed to a stop. Bullets pierced through Wades torso as he stared down the man.
"St-Stop where you are! Don- Don't come any close-closer or I'll… I'll shoot her! I'll do it!" The hand that held the gun to the girls head was shaking, and Phantom knew that even if Wade gave, and didn't come any closer, the gun was going to go off.
Phantom made his way invisibly across the warehouse, aided by the fact that the entire time they'd been here, the only one the smugglers had seen was Wade, and as such, Wade still held all their attention. Wade took a half step closer, and the mans finger tightened on the trigger.
"Don't try me, man! I'll do it!" Phantom slid intangibly into the same space that the man occupied. Phantom watched as the mans thoughts raced past, incoherent in his terror. It would be impossible for Phantom to fully overshadow the man, but he didn't need to. He just needed the mans arm. "What…?!" the man cried fearfully, and his gun moved away from the girls head, and toward his own. "No! No no nonononononnooo-" Bang!
The mans body dropped to the floor, and the girl screamed so loud that Phantom thought it might blow out his eardrums. Time sped up again, Wade was back to being a whirlwind of death and destruction. Phantom let himself flicker into the visible spectrum, and grinned as bullets immediately started flying through his intangible form.
A man begged god to forgive his sins. Phantom ripped his throat out. Another cried to be spared, and Wades Katana pierced his skull. Phantoms hand plunged intangibly through someones chest, and as they stared at him in wide eyed horror, he let his hand become solid as it wrapped around their heart, and then squeezed. Their screams were bloodcurdling, and invigorating. Blood trickled out of their mouth from the tongue they'd bitten clean through. Phantom cackled manically.
It was beautiful. Phantom and Deadpool worked in perfect sync, creating macabre art with the blood and intestines of the wretched human filth that occupied the warehouse. The screams and gunshots were musical. The ectoplasm Phantom absorbed from every gruesome death was a drug that made his head light and foggy. And then, there was no one left to kill.
The young girl sat practically comatose in a corner, covered head to toe in blood. The floor was a pool of crimson. Wade was chattering happily somewhere behind Danny about a swimming pool. His chest felt tight. There was a heart sitting in Phantom's palm. There was a steady whoosh, whoosh, whoosh in Danny's head, almost like the heart in his hand was pumping blood through his own veins. But that wasn't right. Phantom was a ghost. Dead. he didn't have a heart anymore, let alone blood for it to pump.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. His chest felt tight. Something was wrong. Danny slowly turned his head, observing the sheer amount of blood that coated the room. Everything smelled like copper. His mouth tasted like copper. Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. His head felt light, But his body was undeniably connected to the ground.
"... is fun, but then the bowels let loose and it's just like, oh, ew, there's that smell again…" Danny sucked in another breath, and gagged on the smell. There was something wet and squishy in his hands. He looked. He was holding a heart. WhooshWhooshWhooshWhoosh. He gagged again. "... okay? - listening - ? - hear me?" his chest pulsed in time with the whooshing. The heart slipped from his fingers and landed back into the open chest cavity he was crouched over. He gagged again, and this time he felt bile burn his throat. He turned to the side and threw up. "Whoa! Okay, hey, kid…" his hearing was fading in and out.
His core pulsed, and he reached up a hand to pull a strand of white hair in front of his eyes. How long had he been in his Phantom form? A hand touched his shoulder, and he whirled to face the culprit. He locked eyes with Wade's concerned face, vaguely registering that Wade had taken his mask off for him. Was worried about him. Wade's lips were moving, but Danny couldn't hear what he was saying. WhooshWhooshWhooshWhoosh.
Danny's core pulsed again. "Danny? Danny?!" Wade's voice sounded frantic when it faded in again. "Dan-?!" Dan Dan Dan Dan Rang in his ears along with the WhooshWhooshWhoosh. Had he killed all these people? Surely Wade had killed some, but… there was Blood on Dannys hands, and in his mouth... There were bite marks on some of the bodys. I am Inevitable. Danny threw up again, bile splattering against Wades boots where he was crouched in front of Danny. As the world tilted and faded around him, his core pulsed once more and lit up the room with a flash. Warm arms wrapped around him as Danny tilted forward, and a soothing voice murmured reassurances in his ears. And then there was no more.
AN: Hi! Sorry It's been so long since I last posted, life has been rather hectic this last year, eh? I'll try to get this back on a regular update schedule, but I haven't had a lot of time to work on it lately, so don't expect too terribly much. Thanks for reading and all~!
