Esme felt the grass on her feet, she stood there a moment outside her house looking towards the deep woods.
"Esme?" Carlisle asked, ready to run with her. "What's wrong?"
Esme raised her hand, telling him to quiet down. She stood there a moment, listening. She heard a snap from a branch in the distance and immediately dash for it.
She pounced on the unsuspecting Deer. Lunging her body she plunged her teeth into it's neck, with expert precision. Within minutes the Deer was drained form all its blood and Esme sat up, placing her hand on it.
"Thank you my friend." She said quietly.
"How are you feeling" Carlisle asked, watching his wife eat, feeling oddly proud.
"Much better." She announced standing up. He could see her eyes were no longer Red, they were turning back to a honey gold. "Now, lets go get our daughter." She smiled.
They raced back to the house, to find a fire burning in their backyard. Carlisle was about to say something to Esme, to not worry about the yard, but noticed she had other things on her mind. She went straight into their home without a second glance to her burning yard. She frist went into their bedroom to change out of the hospital gown and into more comfortable clothes
"Mom, I think someone has been waiting for you" Edward said, turning toward her as she entered the room.
Esme saw a warm soft pink blanket wrapped around her precious sleeping baby. Extending her arms, she reached for her daughter, truly holding her for the frist time. "Hello, my beautiful." she cooed.
She heard Carlisle enter the room, turning around she made eye contact with him. "Look at what we did. Look at her."
Walking over, he stepped slightly behind Esme, he placed one arm around her and another around his daughter, looking at her, he wished he could still cry. "She's perfect"
"She really is." Benjamin stood there, smiling.
"Thank you for this, we can never truly thank you." Esme smiled back. Suddenly her smile faded. "Gracie." she whispered.
"Is alive and well." Bella stood there with a sleeping Gracie in her arms. The whole room seem to be set at ease. Tia ran to Bella, grasping her childing tightly in her arms, looking as though she was going to cry.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Tia nearly shouted in delight, unsure who to look at.
"Anytime." Esme joked.
"That offer goes to you as well." Benjamin said, standing behind his wife looking up from his daughter. Esme and Carlisle looked at him in confusion. He looked again to the baby girl in Esme's arms. "If you ever want another one, just let me know. I won't mind helping you again."
"You are too kind, dear cousin." Carlisle stated, looking back down at his daughter.
"What's her name?" They heard the small voice of Alice standing on the staircase.
"Alice. Benjamin, is there any way you could.." Esme didn't know how to ask him if it was possible for him to change her back to a vampire.
"I'm sorry dear cousin, I only know how to do human temporarily." He admitted sadly.
"Could… could I hold her?" Alice asked, reaching her arms out. Esme nodded handing her daughter over.
"Maybe we could have Alice help with the baby?" Carlisle asked.
"Maybe, there has to be a way for us to change her back." Esme said defeatedly
Before anyone could come up with an idea, Alice started twitching her head, little small twitches at first, then more and more violent, till Esme grabbed her daughter back. "Alice! Alice what is wrong. Are you okay?"
Carlisle raced over and took her in his arms. Her body convulsing. "She is changing back." Edward stated. "I can hear her thoughts. Her memories are returning and she believes Tempus's spell is breaking since he is gone."
Carlisle looked to his wife and ran Alice to the hospital room. Esme finally felt like she could breathe. She looked down at her daughter one more time, letting herself feel at ease. Something that she hadn't felt in a while.
"You never answered Alice," Bella said. "What's her name?"
"Lenna."
