Hey there! I'm back from my vacation.

Some of you may have got a notice of update in this story before, that was merely to test out updating in a mobile version since I couldn't use a computor. But in the end, I didn't update any for the entire vacation but I did work on some scenes.

Now, on to the main subject; here is a one-shot featured a cooking scene from Rise of the Sword and Shield, by Lyal the Werewolf, a Senran Kagura x Rising of the Shield Hero crossover. Chapter 12 has Asuka in disguise doing the cooking for Moronyasu/Bakayasu and party.

There is a Rising of the Shield Hero manga cooking spin-off, that focuses on the daily life of cooking of the cast preparing and eating dishes feature on each chapter during the storyploy. So I was thinking, after reading chapter 12, maybe I should write chapters focusing on cooking from the story, depending on the chapters that made mentioned of cooking.

After the story got updated after such a long time, I got motivated to write this down.

And one more thing... Lyal the Werewolf didn't even know that this chapter was made neither did I got permission, this is simply a surprise for them. Of course if they did not appreciate then I'll delete it.

Beef Stew

Fried Chicken, Stir fry Vegetables and Berry Pie

'Beef stew will be the main dish but I first need to make one of the side dishes.' Felecia brought out ingredients to the table, one of them being pieces of chicken and others that looked like the ones from her world.

'The ingredients look like the ones from my world and the taste as well.'

Chop the look-alike spring onions and shallots, extract the look-alike lemon juice, grind the cloves, and pepper, and bring them all together in a large bowl for marination. Add vinegar too.

Felecia finished up the preparations in the bowl before reaching for the chicken, she held a wooden cylinder baton and bash them.

'I can't use any tools that can be used as a weapon but there are exceptions like cooking.' Felecia thought. She has used tools before and is grateful that the Weapon doesn't restrict all.

Beating the boneless chicken to soften them and even out. Then you put them in for marination.

'Since it would take three hours to marinade, I'll take the opportunity to start the beef stew.' Felecia thought after putting a cloth to cover the bowl.

To make the beef stew I need to cook the meat first.

First, put oil in a pot and let it heat it.

Felecia brought a large piece of meat to the table, along with vegetables.

First, cut the meat into chunks.

Felecia cuts the meat at an incredible speed into chucks.

Now put the meat in the pot and cook them. Ensure to cook on all sides.

Once cooked, move them onto a plate, to cook the rest.

After Felecia was done with the meat, she brought out a clay pot.

'It was a good thing that the inn's chef made and kept beef broth.' Felecia thought. It was a good thing that she checked every ingredient in the kitchen before deciding on a dish, making beef broth from scratch is time-consuming.

Put the beef stock onto the pot, carefully not to spill, then put the cooked browned meat back into the pot.

Now add liquid and seasonings. And now to boil them.

In the beginning, Felecia was having a hard time controlling the heat of the stove since it does not run on electricity or gas. However, she seems to manage.

Now reduce the heat to a low simmer and cover with the lid.

It will take an hour for the beef to simmer, so cut the vegetables into suitable sizes. Occasionally stir the beef so nothing will stick.

Once Felecia stirred the beef, she brought out a small bowl with a bag of flour and a big cup of water beside it.

Use flour and water to make a slurry. Mix them well until totally smooth.

Felecia opens the lid and looks at the beef. 'The beef still needs a bit more time. So I'll start with the side dishes along the way. Good thing I chopped other veggies.'

Heat a pan with oil, place the chopped vegetables, and sauté until the veggies are almost tender.

Whisk together the ingredients; garlic, brown sugar, sesame oil, chicken broth, and cornstarch. Then pour it all over the vegetables, and cook until the sauce has thickened.

But of course, check the beef and stir it.

Felecia cooks the vegetables for a moment until she sees the result. 'Done.'

She put a lid over the pan and removed it from the stove, placing a cloth on a table she put it over it and let it rest. She checked over the beef. 'Almost done. But that doesn't mean I need to take it easy, I still have more to prepare.'

Felecia brought more ingredients and quickly started.

For dessert, I'll make a pie out of these berries.

Felecia looks at the bowls of different kinds of berries that resemble the ones from her world.

In a large bowl, mix flour and salt, and cut the butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water, tossing with a fork until dough holds together when pressed. Divide the dough into 2 portions so that 1 is slightly larger than the other. Shape each into a disk.

For the filling, in a large saucepan, whisk sugar, cornstarch, salt, water and, if desired, cinnamon until smooth; add the look-alike blueberries. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened.

'Controlling a medieval oven is a pain.' Felecia complained. The next step tells her to prepare and preheat the oven.

Gently fold the look-alike raspberries, look-alike strawberries, look-alike blackberries and lemon juice into the blueberry mixture. On a lightly floured surface, roll out a larger portion of dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle, transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim crust to 1/2 in. beyond the rim of the plate. Add filling and dot with butter.

Roll the remaining dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; cut into 1/2-in.-wide strips. Arrange over filling in a lattice pattern. Trim and seal strips to the edge of bottom crust; flute edge.

Felecia finished the pie before bringing it to the oven.

Now let's bake it.

Felecia then went to check the beef stew. She nodded at the good time before bringing the remaining ingredients for the dish.

After the stew is ready, add in the vegetables and the slurry, stirring everything through.

Felecia covers the pot and leaves it to simmer. She goes to see the chicken.

'I know for a fact that there's still one more hour and a half to let it marinade, but I would rather not bear the princess' complaints.' Felecia thought. She can only imagine the attitude that Myne would have if it were taking too long. 'Now that I think about it; Dad did tip me about the fasting ways to speed up the marination.'

Felecia, rather, Asuka, remembers that time when she was in elementary school, she helped her dad prepare dinner for all and she saw him marinating the meat without waiting long hours; putting them in a plastic bag and massaging them.

'In other words; I have to massage them.' Felecia placed her hands (washed of course) on the chicken meat and began to massage them. She was being careful not to break the chicken meat apart. She only hopes that the Cookbook Sword's Cooking Improvement could help her out.

With the meat done. In a bowl, bring together salt, egg yolks, flour and wine little by little till I achieve a fairly good batter consistency.

She mixed the ingredients until she got the result. She prepared a large pan with oil as it boiled.

Now add the pat dried chicken to the batter and thoroughly mix.

And finally, put them in the boiling oil and let them fry it.

Sizzling-!

The sound of the batter-covered chicken being frying can be heard loudly in the kitchen.

"Somehow this kinda reminds me of karaage." Felecia commented, remembering the times when her mother made karaage.

Felecia's eyes look down, lowering her head slightly. Reminiscing about her times with her parents made her depressed, sometimes she wondered how her family is doing back home. She couldn't help but feel guilty about how they handled her 'death', she could only imagine the grief and sorrow they must be facing.

Her thoughts were cut by the smell of the fried chicken before turning her attention to the food. She quickly pulls them out once they are golden brown.

'Stay focused, Asuka! Don't let them be suspicious of you.' Felecia then wipes a single tear on the edge of her eye.

Frying more chicken later, the meat was done as it was on the plate, beside was the plate of stir-fry vegetables.

"Now as for the pie." Felecia went to check over the berry pie. She looks at the dessert, the crust has become golden brown and the filling is bubbly. With The mittens, she brought the dessert out of the oven and placed it on the table.

"Smells good." Felecia commented, enjoying the sweet scent of berries.

She then walks towards the pot of beef stew. Opening the lid, took a ladle and tasted it. "Hmm… Yup. It's ready."

That's the wrap!

I've got to say; I worked hard on this, due to the choice of dishes. I had to do some research on the recipes and I had to switch paragrahps due to the preparations and time of cooking. Heck, I had to be creative with the stew's broth, I mean, it takes 6 hours to make it. And for the meat to be marinade it takes three hours, but when I did research on ways to marinade meat faster I found it that massages them helps.

As for the mentioned of "look-aliked" parts on the fruits, well in the Shield Hero Naofumi calls the ingredients in the world as the name of the food thing, most likely that they bear resemblance and taste of the food of our world, and they even bear different names that rhymes. So, if Naofumi calls them things, I would loved to have Asuka called them look-alike.

Overall, I had fun writing this. Sure, in chapter 12 there were other dishes featured but that would be for another update (if this idea stays alive).
