On October 9th of 1913, the 7½ year old Peter Jacobs was walking down the school hallway, holding His books tightly so he could avoid the bullies. He hated school, especially since his older brothers are in sport now. "Hey loser." One Kid said as Peter was pushed against the locker. "What's the matter wimp, gonna cry?" Peter clenched his fists together as he steady his breathing. "Hey, I'm talkin' to ya, stupid!" He yelled, making Peter flinch a little.

Peter tried to stay calm, but he felt trapped. He was so glad that his baby brothers or baby sisters weren't there to see their strong and brave big brother getting beaten. Peter always made sure to act tough and brave when his little brothers Mellon, Noel and Radley and his little sisters Nella and Margie were around, since they viewed him as a superman.

"Hey, leave him alone!" They looked over to see 2 boys walking over to them.

It was Peter's best friends, Dylan Zuko and David Del Fuego. David went to the younger boy's aid and gently touched Peter's arm as the older boy walked up to Peter's bully.

"You ok, buddy?" David whispers.

Peter silently nods his head.

"Oh, uh hey Dylan, what's up?" The kid asked.

"Leave him be." Dylan says to him.

"Yeah!" David protested.

"Oh shut it freak." The kid said, pushing David's hat down.

Dylan stood in front of David and Peter for protection.

"You don't ever touch one of my boys." Dylan threatens.

"Oh yeah?" The kid asked angrily. "Make me, Zuko!"

Dylan clenched his fists.

"Hey Balmudo!" They looked over to see Dylan's other best friends, Kayden Murdoch and Robert LaTierri, walking over to them. "Why don't you pick somebody else on your own side?" Kayden threatens.

"Are you fellas seriously defending this geek?" The kid asked.

"Why don't you just shove off Ehh, Helario." Robert asked.

"Hey come on boys, Kayden, Robert. Why do ya care what happens to these freaks like you fellas." Helario asked as he and his friends laughed.

Kayden shoved Helario up against the locker, holding up a switchblade to his chin.

"Kayden…" Robert starts.

"Nobody calls me a freak!" Kayden yells.

"Well why don't ya cry to ya mommy?" Helario asked, smirking.

Kayden clenched his fists into his shirt.

"Face it Murdoch," Helario started. "You and your folks are a couple of wimpy babies. It's no wonder why nobody wanted to adopt your weak folks."

Kayden felt utter rage, so he threw him to the ground, ready to pound on him. Robert knew how overly protective he was of his parents, even though he was only 8 years old and did not fully understand what his parents went through in the past.

"Whoa, easy there tiger." Dylan said, stopping Kayden from killing him.

Dylan clenched his fists into Helario's jacket collar.

"Mess with my boy again and you're dead." He threatened while Helario glared at him. "Now get lost, eh!" He commanded.

Helario stood up and walked away with his friends before giving the boys the middle finger.

"Craterface." Robert mumbles.

"You said it, man." Kayden says.

"You ok, kiddo?" Dylan asked his youngest best friend.

"Yeah, I'm alright." Peter said with a nod.

"Oh boys, these are the fellas I told you about…" Dylan said to the younger boys. "This is Kayden Murdoch and Robert LaTierri."

"Hey kids." Kayden smiled.

"Nice to meet you fellas." David nodded.

"You too." Robert said, with a smile.

"Ya know what, I think this is gonna be the beginning of new friendships." Dylan said as he draped his arms around Peter and David.

"Brotherhood." Robert commented.

Dylan nods.

"You got it kid." Dylan said.

"That creep didn't put any bruises on ya didn't he?" Kayden asked.

He held Peter's chin to look for any bruises.

"No," Peter replied. "Thank God."

The boys chuckled at him.

"Well don't ya worried kiddo, you got us to protect ya." Dylan said to him. "But for now on, you'll be walking home with me."

Peter chuckled and nodded.

"Understood." He smiled.

"Good boy." Dylan said as he pats the back of Peter's head.

"Come on, we'll go to my house, you fellas can have supper with us." Dylan offers. "My folks won't mind."

"Thanks." Robert said smiling.

"Yeah." Kayden adds.

"Anytime man." Dylan replied.

"Let's get outta here, school's done now." David said.

"The kid's right, let's get out of here boys." Dylan said.

They walked down the hall, once they walked outside, Peter pulled Dylan aside.

"Hey uh…I just wanna to…to uh…s-say…" Peter started.

Dylan smiled to himself.

"Hey," Dylan said, stopping him. "I want you to remember that I'm always here for ya. Always."

Peter smiled.

"Thanks man." He said.

"No prob, kid." He smirked. "Let's go."

So the five boys walked off to Dylan's house, they knew they were gonna be best of friends…brothers. They hope to still be best friends when their kids are born and they'll be best friends just like their dads. Dylan even considers his best pals as his little brothers.
