Chapter 2: The Morning After
Sana woke up in Akito's bed the next morning. They'd slept together before, but never after such an intimate moment. Sana felt self conscious as she removed her arms from around his torso and peeled her head off his chest.
"I guess I must've fallen asleep here huh? Hehe..." she chuckled, awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck. "You could have woke me up and kicked me out. It must have felt cramped..."
Akito didn't respond. He just stared at the girl beside him and watched as her cheeks flushed pink.
Sana shook off her flustered feelings and swung her legs over the side of the bed, yawning loudly and stretching her arms up toward the ceiling. She reached for her phone on Akito's night stant, and saw the words, 'Fu-ka Matsui 11 missed calls' lighting up her screen.
Sana immediately sprang to her feet, "Oh no! Fu-ka must have been worried sick!" She ran to fix herself in the mirror, fumbling about, and frantically repeating the words, "Oh no, oh no, oh no!"
Akito sat up, "Calm down Kurata, I told her you were staying the night."
Sana calmed down, and let out a sigh relief, "Thank goodness."
"You really need to talk to her about the socks, or at least look for a new place."
Akito walked over to Sana. He could see she was feeling conflicted. He combed his fingers through his already disheveled hair and stared at their reflection in the mirror. They were both wearing their clothes from the night before.
Sana frowned, "I know your right... but there's not any single rooms left on campus, and I wouldn't want to room with a stranger..."
"Then live off campus."
"I barely wake up on time for class now, and we live a 3 minute walk away!"
"Then live on campus."
Akito was so simple minded sometimes.
"Easy for you to say. You have a place to sleep every night!"
"So do you."
It was true. Akito had let her stay the night, but it was embarrassing leaving his room in the same clothes she had on the night before, and it wasn't appropriate for her to stay with him in his bed like that.
"If I brought a cot or a blow up mattress, would u be willing to maintain it here for me?"
"If that's what you wanted."
"Would... would I be able to leave some sleepwear and a few changes of clothes here as well?"
Akito stared at her for a minute, as if to make sure she knew she what she was suggesting, and Sana panicked.
"Wait a minute, It would only be for emergencies! I'm not saying I'm moving in with you! It would just be a teeny weenie plastic bag. You can just store it in an empty trash can- or throw it somewhere in your closet!"
"You can leave whatever you want Kurata. It's not a big deal."
He took a few toiletries out of the top drawer of his dresser and placed them under the bathroom sink.
"Here. This is yours. I'll clear a drawer in the bathroom for you too. Bring what you want."
Sana felt happy Akito would go through the trouble of giving her a whole drawer to fill up. She smiled softly toward him, gazing into his eyes.
The pair had never officially gone on a date, or directly discussed how they felt about one another, but Sana knew that the lone wolf would always be someone she held stong feelings for.
Akito noticed the look of admiration on her face, as she smiled in gratitude.
"What's wrong with you? Did sleeping in your bra cut off the circulation to your brain?"
And just like that, any romantic feeling she had for the boy, vanished, "And how do you know what undergarments I slept in?! You pervert!" Sana pulled out her mallet, and started chasing Akito all around the room.
She swung as hard as she could toward his head, and Akito caught her wrist. "Calm down Kurata, lets have breakfast."
"I'm not having breakfast with you... you... you-"
Akito swiped her mallet, and bonked her lightly on the forehead, "Let's go, my treat."
"Get breakfast by yourself!" She scowled.
Sana glared at Akito, grabbed her things and stormed out of the room. Akito swore he heard her giggle as she started down the hall.
That girl is such a... pain...
To Sana's surprise, the door to her room was wide open when she arrived. Fu-ka had a miniature cake and picket sign, that read "I'm sorry :(", and stood like a soldier in the center of the room. She had been patiently waiting for Sana to get back home since 6 in the morning.
Since there werent many bakeries near by, Sana assumed Fu-ka must have hand made it.
"Wow, you didn't have to do all this! How long did all this take to make?"
"Sana, please don't hate me or Takaishi! We are both really sorry for making you sleep in another room. We fell asleep and I forgot to take the sock off the door. I'm such a horrible friend, and an even worse roommate!"
"Yeah you are. Give me some cake, I'm starving! Akito didn't have any snacks in his room, and believe me, I checked."
Fu-ka handed her the cake and a fork, and Sana started eating. "So... am I forgiven?" She inquired.
"Hm..." Sana Fake pondered, "DUH! This cake did the trick, but next time I'll require corn flakes."
Fu-ka rolled her eyes at how easily her friend was appeased, then let out a sigh of relief. "I really am sorry Sana..."
Sana gazed up from her food, "It's honestly fine Fu-ka. I mean I don't like getting banned from the room, but I'm glad things are going well between you two. Besides, the soup for brains Hayama is letting me spend the night whenever I need to, so if you ever want the room to yourself, I don't think he would mind if I went there."
"Really?...Wait so did things not go so well with Fujikawa?"
"It's not that they didn't- I just think we're better off as friends. Plus, that has nothing to do with this, Hayama is just being a good friend." Sana wiped her mouth, and gulped up a whole bottle of water. "Next time you should definitely buy milk."
"I'll remember to do that next time your highness."
"Wow, thanks!" Sana said with bright eyes and curtsey. "I'm gonna head to breakfast with Hayama, I just wanted to come change first and grab some things."
Fu-ka was a little suspicious of Sana and Akito's relationship. Sleeping over was one thing, but spending the morning together afterward was another. She wondering if something happened between them, but she wasn't in any position to ask, as she had just forced her friend to sleep over there... and with her and Takaishi's anniversary coming up, she wanted to ask her to stay there again the following week- so she kept her mouth shut.
Sana packed a bag and changed into clean clothes. She tied her hair up, and headed out the door. As she headed to Akito's, her phone began to ring.
"I'm only waiting for you for 5 minutes." A voice proclaimed before the call abruptly ended.
Sana chuckled and rerouted toward the dining hall.
