Chapter 3

The Caves of Siberia

Three days had slowly gone by, and the Gotengo Research Center was busy as it always was. Hundreds of people worked on the machine below, while other people worked in the main building, looking into the sudden reappearance of King Ghidorah, and trying to come up with theories of how they could have come back after they were killed back in two thousand eighteen.

Being the main head scientists, Dr. Lennox and Owens sat in front of a computer, waiting for an important Facetime call. They were noted by their boss that the expedition crew had uncovered something that could lead them to learning the entire history of Ghidorah's past.

After about a minute of waiting, a face came up on the screen, and they exchanged greetings.

"Mr. Jacobs," Remington started, "how is it in Siberia?"

"Very beautiful," the scientist replied. "The scenery is just fascinating."

"Nice," Frederick commented. "So, we were told that you found something you wanted us to see?"

"Uh, yes. But we're having a little trouble with the red room, so I'll have to send them to you by email."

"That's alright."

Mr. Jacobs sighed, and looked around worriedly.

"Are you feeling alright?" Asked Dr. Lennox.

Jacobs looked back at the camera, looking more anxious now. "We have uncovered something that has been buried for God knows how many years - I've never seen anything like this. We had an . . . incident here . . . ."

The two doctors exchanged glances.

"What happened?" Dr. Owens asked.

Jacobs waved a hand, not daring to look at the screen. "We saw . . . drawings."

"Of Gidorans?" Lennox guessed.

"Not just that, but . . . something more . . . horrifying. Creatures unimaginable to the human mind. Shapeless things of the uttermost terror. Living beings with unfathomable strength. . . . Their appearance is so horrifying, so unthinkable, that one would be damned to come across these creatures. . . . We saw the drawings. We couldn't believe what we were seeing, and just by looking at them they made us feel . . . horror, beyond our control. We suddenly heard a sound, and when we looked over . . . one of our men was slamming his face against a rock. . . . We couldn't find any conclusion as to why he did it, but the only thing we could come up with was that he killed himself because of fright."

A long moment of silence, then Remington said wide eyed: " . . . Oh my God."

" . . . That's all the information we have. There's nothing we can do now but send you the pictures."

"Alright, that's fine," Owens said. "Thank you for calling us."

Jacobs nodded, and the call ended. The two scientists sat in silence.

"Well, not only are there more images of the Gidorans," Lennox said, "but we may have discovered more monsters."

"And with King Ghidorah suddenly back from the dead," Frederick said, "we're going to have a lot more problems on our hands. I'm actually surprised Godzilla didn't show up when Ghidorah went to kill Malakai."

"Probably because that fat old frog is too lazy to lead his people." Remington looked at the clock - it said five forty two. "Well, I'm heading home."

"Have a good night."

"You too." Lennox grabbed his coat, and walked out the door.

When Remington exited the elevator and into the lobby, he found everyone standing in place, staring at the large television on the wall.

"Many people have been afraid, and skeptical about the sudden change of the moon's appearance," the news reporter said. "The strange red light can be seen all around the world, from the middle of the day, to the dead of night. It is calculated that there isn't supposed to be another Blood Moon until March of two thousand twenty four. There have also been reports of strange sightings of an unknown creature on the moon, and unexplainable sounds."

The television cut to a video clip of sound waves, and they moved up and down when a loud screeching noise that sounded a little similar to a vacuum cleaner frightened everyone in the room. It then cut to a clip of a telescope filming the moon. Even though it was blurry, everyone could still see a large shadow resembling a dragon loom around the orb.

Dr. Lennox walked outside and looked up at the sky. In the evening sun, he could see the silhouette of a Blood Moon high above the clouds.
