Сhapter 11. Klaus.

Caroline stood at the door of a strange house and remembered how Hope had cried on her shoulder half an hour ago. She knocked on the door, but there was no answer. She pushed and door open. The girl took a step inside, nothing holding her back. There was an unpleasant smell in the house. Blood was splattered on the walls. She went into the house. A man was standing in front of the fireplace, and there were corpses lying around.

"Klaus," she called softly.

The man turned, but said nothing.

"It's me, Caroline. We knew each other."

"Yes, I remember," he said, somewhat indifferently.

She looked back at the dead people.

"Whose house is this?"

"Mrs. Woods. She..." he pointed at the dead men, "is here somewhere. I liked this house. Isn't it beautiful? And what a beautiful fireplace?" the man stood up, looked at the fire, and took a SIP of whiskey.

"Klaus, Hope is worried about you. The loss of people in the city will be noticed," the girl approached the man, "you become too noticeable, too aggressive. Don't shut me out. Talk to me."

The man smiled and ran a bloody hand through the girl's hair. Her blond hair was turning red.

"You haven't changed at all. The same beautiful, strong…"

"Of course I haven't changed," the girl said, smiling back, "cause I'm а vampire."

The man turned to the fireplace in silence.

"Don't turn away, don't go into yourself. You're going crazy. But you must remember that you have a family. You can talk to them eventually."

The man abruptly dropped the whisky glass to the floor and cupped her face in his hands.

"Yes, I'm going crazy! Family, you say! I see my family didn't care much when I was gone. I see no one even tried to bring me back from the dead. Well, where is this family? Where? Do you know where?"

"Let me go, Klaus," the girl said, startled.

The man glared at the girl, but his hands went away and went to the exit.

"Where are you going?"

"I've taken your words into consideration," he said without turning around.
