Chapter 7
The Meeting
It was late in the afternoon the next day in the beginning of November, and the Gotengo Research Center was much quieter than usual. Most of the workers had headed home for the day, but almost every scientist was in the meeting room, waiting for the presentation to begin. They all got notice that the boss would be flying here from Germany to check on his machine, and when he does, that day may be the time for it to finally take flight. As everyone in the room talked, Dr. Lennox set up his laptop, and pulled up a slideshow.
Once he did, Dr. Owens came up and announced: "We would like to thank you all for coming here today for this assembly on short notice. As most of you may know, the expeditioners in Siberia have found the cave drawings. They have sent them to us for study, and we think it best to show you what we have uncovered and learned in our research."
Remington then spoke: "It has come to our attention that we are about to face a threat much greater than what we are dealing with here on earth. There are beings, ancient creatures over millions of years old that are still alive today, and these paintings show that they will, in time, return to this planet."
Lennox nodded to his co-worker, and Owens walked over to the wall, and dimmed the lights as Remington turned on the projector. He plugged the laptop to it, and his computer screen showed up on the overhead. The first image that came up that made people start to whisper was the one that showed the Ghidorahs charging at the Elder Gods, Outer Gods, and the Great Old Ones, and the people at the bottom fighting reptilian and fish creatures.
"As you can see, the Hollow Earth was not the only war that took place millions of years ago," Remington said. "Over a billion years ago, there lived an entire society of Ghidorahs, and other monsters of unknown origin. Although we don't know much about the ones on the right, we do know their appearance, names, titles, and the name of their leader, but we found much more information about the three headed dragons on the left. We'll call this, the Outer War." He pressed the right arrow key on his laptop, and on the screen came another cave drawing. "Keizer Azriel, Michael, and Gabriel Ghidorah, born three days into the war, and the ones who ended it, banished the Outer Gods back to their home planet. Named after three angels, they are the Kings of All Stars, and in their history, whoever rules all stars, rules all solar systems. Which means . . . this planet is not our own." He pressed the key, another picture came, and continued to tell about the names, and titles of every monster that came up.
"Their wives, Sovereign Athena, Demeter, and Aphrodite Ghidorah. They fought alongside their husbands during the war, and helped rule the planets. Red Adramelech, Brandr, and Aatish Ghidorah. Considered the second strongest of the species, Red Ghidorah is the most skilled fighter in the kingdom, and is said to have the power to channel the fires of the sun. Their brothers are not much different; Lava Njord, Orvar, and Sigurd Ghidorah can channel the fires from all planets, and was the kingdom's guardian - both them, and Red Ghidorah were friends with Keizer Ghidorah. Lava Ghidorah's wives, Void Astrid, Embla, and Freya Ghidorah were the guardians of space, and the planets - they are said to harness the power of the black holes and stars. Although there are thousands of the ancient Ghidorahs, these are the strongest ones. Now we will progress to talk about the younger beings.
"Death Atlas, Cadmus, and Kronos Ghidorah are considered some of the most dangerous in the kingdom, as shown in this drawing here, they breathe a deadly fire down on three planets. Queen Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos Ghidorah, a leader in training, has the ability to breathe red electricity from their mouths, and has known King Ghidorah ever since their teenage years. Baron Zeus, Ares, and Hades Ghidorah, who have known the kings since they were toddlers, are able to breathe a deadly toxin that kills anything that inhales the fumes, but like most Gidorans, they can breathe white electricity.
"Finally, King Zero, Azazel, and X Ghidorah, the Fallen Star. They are the next in line for the kingdom's throne. The middle head is named Zero because they are the only sons the Keizer will ever have; the right head is named Azazel, because it is written that they will reign down on all their enemies - in the Bible, Azazel was a fallen angel, hence the name, the Fallen Star; the left head is named X, because their fathers were also known as Monster X, and they named the head after them, to show they are the next rulers. Then, we have a monster that is not Gidoran, but has been loyal to the kingdom ever since the leaders were married. Gigan. Trained by the Kings of All Stars, this monster is almost as skilled as Red Ghidorah themselves, and has protected the realm its entire life, and will put its life on the line until death."
"Could you go back to the first image?" Someone asked, and the doctor did his request. "What are those creatures at the bottom supposed to be?"
"We honestly don't know much about them," Owens answered. "But the ones on the left are known as the Reas, who worship the Gidorans. We guess the same thing with the ones under the Outer Gods - they worship the beings."
"Which brings us to that topic," Lennox said, and he went to the next image and described the monsters that were fought. "Dagon, a humanoid that is a mix of many different monsters, but as you see here, it is depicted as a giant half man, half fish. Mi-go, living fungi from their home planet, in this painting here they are seen as giant, winged insects. The Colour, a living mass that has no physical appearance, and is seen as a source of light, is an unknown color, and can warp the fabric of reality. Tsathoggua, seen here as a giant frog with a gaping maw, and it is said that inside its body are unspeakable, and indescribable horrors. Shub-Niggurath, an entity with thousands of mouths and limbs, seen here its top part looks like part of a tree. Yog-Sothoth, considered one of the strongest of the Outer Gods, it has the power to warp reality itself - much like the Colour - and is the embodiment of time and space. Cthulhu, the High Priest of the Great Old Ones, and is seen the most in these paintings. We have come to the conclusion that it is as tall as Godzilla himself; its skin is green; yellow eyes; large bat-like wings; and its head depicts an octopus. Finally, the strongest of all the Outer Gods . . . Nyarlathotep. It is the most frightening of all these monsters, and is the leader because its great strength could easily kill all the Great Old Ones. Keizer Ghidorah was barely successful in defeating him, and once they did, they banished it, and the others back to their home planet, Yuggoth - to us, that planet is Pluto.
"A few hundred years after the war was over, the Gidorans came across many other allies, and foes that all proved to be no match for their powerful kingdom. Destoroyah, Orga - to name a few - but many others are dead to this day. But this next one seems the most important in this meeting: Red Moon. A dragon that matches the size of King Ghidorah, has four wings, and has the power to absorb the energy from moons. The Keizer saw this monster committing these actions around their kingdom, and went to kill it. Seeing that it couldn't beat them, Red Moon retreated, and was never seen since, but due to the sudden phase change of our moon, and the sightings of a creature orbiting it . . . we believe this monster is the same one seen in these drawings."
"With all of these monsters proven to exist," Frederick said, "we believe that we should use the machine that we have been working on against these creatures."
"And if worse comes to worse . . . we should build more of these machines."
"Well, if we know that these monsters existed in the past," one person said, "how do we know if they are still alive to this day?"
"That brings us to the next drawing," Dr. Owens answered. "This image shows a man having visions about upcoming premonitions. As you can see, above the man are images of many different monsters fighting one another. This one here shows Godzilla with wings similar to Mothra's fighting King Ghidorah with two other allies. This one shows Godzilla dying at the will of Keizer Ghidorah. This one shows Anguirus, and Mothra dead while Godzilla kneels down in front of Red Ghidorah. But above all of them are the Outer Gods. Other cave drawings predict an upcoming battle between different monsters, and through those studies . . . we believe this man is having dreams about the Great Old Ones coming here to kill us all."
"When you talked about Lava Ghidorah," another person asked, "you said they were the guardians of the Gidoran Kingdom. What did you mean by 'was?'"
"One cave drawing shows them getting killed by Godzilla's grandfather," Remington replied. "But one part of the drawing tells us that he may have had help from another monster. We do not know the name of this creature, but we do know that it was Gidoran. We think maybe, at some point in time, a member of the kingdom betrayed their kind, and helped with the holocaust of the Ghidorahs. Because of the eradication, only few are alive to this day."
"Do you know the name of the man having the visions?" Another person asked.
"No, but one thing we realized is: . . . He looks like a humanistic version of Gigan."
"Do you know the name of the place where the Gidoran's live?" One scientist asked.
"We do not," Frederick answered. "We think the planet is hidden somewhere in our solar system."
The doctors patiently waited for someone to ask another question, but after a moment of hesitation, Lennox said: "Well, we thank you for taking your time to attend this meeting. Good day."
A few minutes passed and everyone had left the room. The two scientists had finished their shifts and were heading out the door. But as soon as they exited the building, they were met with everyone on the street staring up at the sky. They looked to where the attention was, and saw the moon, the blood moon high above them. It seemed as if the entire city went silent when they all heard a faint roar, but it didn't take them long to realize that the scream was coming from the moon itself. People began to get scared, run away and take their families to safety.
Owens and Lennox only gazed at the sky knowing that the newly discovered monster was harnessing the power of earth's moon . . . .
