Chapter 15. This ring, again.
There was a knock on the door.
"Good afternoon, Dr. Saltzman."
"Good evening, are you?"
"Oh, yes, Bonnie Bennett sent me."
"Bonnie? She…"
"Yes, sleeping... Somewhere with Kai…"
"What?" Alaric asked.
"Oh, no, not in that sense... Although I don't know… In general, she warned me earlier, that's why I came. Here," he held out the box, "she said you should put this on if someone suddenly shows up."
"What is it?"
"I don't know, I'll go," the stranger left the office.
Alaric opened the box and there was a ring with a huge black stone. He turned the ring over in his hands and put it back in the box. He didn't remember the man or any hint of the ring. The man went to the window, looked at the frolicking little witches on the street, a stranger came out of the school building, looked at the window where Alaric was standing, and went to the gate.
Alaric turned, walked to the table, picked up the ring, and put it on his finger. He straightened up, hovered for a few seconds, and headed out of the office...
Jenna heard footsteps coming down to the cell. It was Alaric.
"Ric, did you find out what's in the test tube?"
Alaric went to the bars and opened the door.
"What are you doing?" the girl smiled.
The man entered the cell, walked up to the girl and smiled at her.
"What are you doing?" Jenna looked into his eyes and saw an unusual brightness in the color of his eyes.
The man showed a wooden stake from his bosom.
"Alaric?" Jenna took a step away from him.
It was as if he had jumped up and pinned her against the wall. He grabbed her shoulder and pointed the stake at her chest, and she just cried out.
