Chapter 16. Always and forever.

Two children were playing on the front lawn. The boy was slightly older than the girl.

"Nikki, be careful," the boy carefully took the spatula from the girl's hands.

A man came through the gate, looked at the children, and went to the entrance of the house. He knocked on the door.

"Yes, yes, I'm running," said a familiar voice.

The girl opened the door and couldn't believe her eyes.

"Niklaus?!" she immediately looked at the children.

"Why don't you invite me in before these kids become dessert?"

"You can come in."

The man went in and closed the door behind him.

"How are you? Nice house, but a little small."

"That's fine with me," the girl said warily.

The man went into the hall.

"Don't even give me a hug?"

The girl didn't move. The man looked at the photos on the wall of the hall and went to the window. The children continued to play on the front lawn.

"Yours?"

"The girl is mine."

"Similar..."

"I'm trying to raise her kinder, and give her the love that you didn't get."

The man whirled around, walked over to the girl in a vampire move, and grabbed her by the neck.

"Kinder? To give love? Where was your love when I was gone?" the man stabbed the woman.

The girl screamed and slowly sank to the floor. Someone opened the front door.

"Rebekah?!" shouted a familiar voice.
