Chapter 14

The Flight of the Atragon

Miles up in the sky, a large, dark thunder storm loomed over Seattle, and was descending faster with every passing moment. Yellow lightning swarmed inside, and King Ghidorah was channeling the storm, bringing it with them. They were back, returning to build their kingdom, and they will start with this city below. The storm sat in the air, spinning like a raging tornado, the electricity sharing the same temper, and covered almost all of Seattle. The cloud hung in mid air, then the kings descended. They landed, shaking the entire city. They raised their heads to the sky, and roared for a long moment.

Once they lowered their heads, they scanned their surroundings. The Space Needle tower was to their left, yet it did not match their height. This is where they will begin their reign, they shall build their empire upon a broken, dying world, and make it strong, powerful, sacred, and everlasting.

They looked up at the sky, and far to the left the kings noticed the moon. For some reason, it was red, and it reminded them of something, but could not remember. For a brief moment, they thought they could see something flying around the little orb, and looked as if it had four wings. They looked down at the city, and noticed vehicles on the ground, littering the roads, full of humans trying to escape. In the silence, the kings could faintly hear the screaming of the humans, running from them, their little footsteps pounding against the earth.

All three heads took a deep breath, electricity building up in their throats, and were about to release their power upon the city. . . . Then all of a sudden . . . they heard something in the distance. It was quiet at first, but the humming was loud enough for them to hear it before they could do anything. With every passing moment, the sound grew louder, and Ghidorah realized it was the humming of a ship, heading straight towards them. They looked around, thinking there could be a fleet of them, but no armies came. The vibration sounded like it was coming from high above. They looked up. For a while, they saw nothing, but then, something large slowly descended from the sky, breaking through the clouds and appearing above them.

The kings had never seen a human's creation similar to this before. Needless to say, it was massive. The machine was almost as big as them. It was painted brown, with red stripes around it; a fin was on the bottom of it; fire shot from its back; a large drill was at the front, with two saws on the left and right side of it, but they weren't spinning.

Kaspar Atragon, and the crew stared King Ghidorah dead in the eyes, and they looked back with the same threatening expression. This is where the killing spree would begin, starting with this monster, and they will see that the humans are the ones who rule this planet. Not the Titans, not any monster, but the humans, and the humans only.

"Your orders, sir," said one of the crew members who sat at the controls.

The captain sat silently for a while, then said flatly: " . . . We must not let them near the people, we have to get them away from the city. . . . Dive. Activate the drill . . . and charge."

The crew nodded. The drivers revved up the engine, and pointed the steering wheels downward. In a jolting motion, the Atragon dropped from the sky, falling straight down. The pilots pulled the controls towards them, and the machine diverted itself, flying straight at Monster Zero, the drill spinning rapidly as it did so. King Ghidorah scowled and charged at the machine. When they were close enough, they jumped, kicking at its side, denting the hull, but the Atragon still flew on, and the kings landed, sliding across the ground until they stopped, turned, and roared. The Atragon banked, charging at the kings again; they charged as well, blasting thunder at it. The electricity scattered around the machine, which slowed its flight, giving Ghidorah the chance to once again kick it in the side. The Gotengo was thrown into a nearby building, almost knocking it down. The kings ran, and jumped, but Atragon moved out of the way before Ghidorah crushed it along with the building that came crashing down, blowing dust everywhere.

The machine flew upward, and Kaspar shouted: "FIRE THE HEAT SEEKING MISSILES!"

The Roaring Heaven fell back down, firing missiles from all sides, starting up the drill again, along with the saws. The kings tried to dodge the projectiles, but there were too many for them to avoid. In a matter of seconds, they were covered in more blood. It was only when the smoke cleared when the Atragon drove into Ghidorah's chest, drilling into the bone and organs, blood flying all over the machine, and the kings roared in pain as Kaspar produced a wicked smile across his face. Zero, Azazel, and X drove their teeth into the machine, releasing electricity around it, then pulled the machine out of their chest. The Gotengo took the short chance to fire more missiles, forcing the kings down on one knee.

The kings scowled, and X lashed at the machine, electricity building in his mouth as he did so. They kicked it in the side, then Zero thrashed his head, and shot lightning as well. The Atragon hurled itself at the kings, the saws cutting at their necks, then the machine spun around in a three sixty, knocking the monster down. It drilled into Ghidorah's back, more blood blasting out. The Gotengo lifted them up, the drill still going, the kings roaring in pain as the drill poked out through their chest, right where their heart was.

Kaspar's smile grew wider, then the Gotengo threw the monsters down, then flew over them, the saws driving into their back, more blood spilling. As King Ghidorah tried to get back up, the Atragon flew around a few more buildings, and shot more missiles, and right when the kings were standing back up, they were assaulted by projectiles. Explosions were scattered around Monster Zero, and they roared in pain as pieces of their scales flew off. While the smoke cleared, the Atragon flew around the kings, yet they were still down on one knee.

The machine flew to the clouds, and Kaspar shouted: "INCREASE THE SPEED OF THE DRILL AND SAWS!" They spun faster. The captain pointed a hard finger. "RAMMING SPEED!"

The Roaring Heaven flew back down, going straight for Monster Zero. The kings lifted their heads and growled, picking themselves up and running at the machine. They stepped up one building, jumped off of it, and while doing a sideways flip, landed on the Atragon. The machine shook, but still flew on. Ghidorah knelt down, making sure not to fall off as they were carried over a thousand miles an hour through the city.

"SHAKE THEM OFF!" Kaspar ordered.

The pilots steered the Gotengo left and right, yet Ghidorah still held on. The machine flew faster as it dodged buildings, going up, then down. The machine jerked upwards, and Ghidorah jumped, but landed on the Gotengo, X sinking his teeth into the side to keep balance.

"UP! UP!"

Azazel bit down on the hull as the Roaring Heaven flew straight upwards, and into the raging storm. The Gotengo flew as fast as the lightning around them as they flew, spinning around to try and get Monster Zero off of them, but still they did not let go. The pilots tried shocking them off, but that turned out to be a mistake, as it seemed to make the kings stronger, and when they roared, the storm seemed to get more intense. Missiles were fired in front of them, and they flew through the explosion, which wounded Ghidorah, but was not enough to knock them off. Then, when they were reaching the top of the clouds, the Atragon flew in a capsized formation, and Zero tried to aid his brothers into holding on, but could not keep their grip, and fell off, the Atragon following.

The kings fell until they reached the bottom of the storm, and that was when they managed to catch an air current, and fly forward, the machine following right behind. They shot missiles, but most of them missed while some managed to hit them. More blood flew out of the brothers' back, but still they flew on. Ghidorah dropped down, flapped their wings hard to go up, did a flip in the air, and pounded their feet down on the roof of the Atragon, denting it, almost knocking the machine out of the air, but still stayed in flight, except the kings were right above them. They blasted electricity and lashed their heads at the machine, ripping off pieces of metal, weakening the engine, but it stayed in midair.

The Gotengo suddenly dropped downward, which was enough to get the brothers off their trail, then the machine flew in a large circle, then straight at Ghidorah. The kings scowled and charged. Lightning struck with every heartbeat as the enemies flew closer. Once the time came, Monster Zero flew down, then leaned back, and kicked the bottom of the Roaring Heaven hard enough that it was almost knocked out of the sky. Ghidorah flew back down, the lightning seeming to follow them, and they landed in the middle of the city. They looked up, and saw the Gotengo coming down in front of them.

Kaspar scowled at Monster Zero, and they glared back for a long moment. They knew this battle would make a turning point in their lives. Either the Atragon will triumph over the brothers, and prove to the world that there is no more purpose to be afraid of the Titans, or it will fail, and King Zero, Azazel, and X Ghidorah will gain victory over the machine, rule over all monsters, and the planet itself.

Electricity was building up in Ghidorah's throats, and the drill and saws started to spin once more. After a moment, Monster Zero blasted thunder from their mouths as hard as they could, and the Atragon charged, ramming into the king, but the brothers grabbed the drill, lightning still going as the drill spun faster and faster. Blood flew from the kings' mouths as the drill spun, both enemies trying to overcome the other. At the last moment, with one final breath, King Ghidorah crushed the drill, a loud explosion following the impact, and the kings threw the machine down.

The Gotengo's crew was in a daze, and before they could do anything, Zero, Azazel, and X bit down on the engine. Using their wings, they spun the Atragon around, and threw it into a set of buildings. Upon impact, it instantly exploded from the outside. The kings quickly took another deep breath, and with the aid of the storm, lightning shot from their mouths and from above, down on the machine. There was a loud explosion, buildings fell, and the brothers landed on the ground in their triumph.

The battle was over now. They had won. The storm grew more intense, and thunder struck down on the city, leveling skyscrapers and the ground. Electricity traveled through the underground system, erupting under the kings' feet. They opened their eyes, they were glowing yellow, looking upon the explosion they had caused. In one swift motion, flew off, taking the storm with them.

About thirty minutes had now passed since the battle. Seattle was in ruins, and the Atragon lay motionless in the rubble. Some of its crew members were unconscious, and Kaspar sat in his chair, his hand to his temple - it was a miracle that at least half the crew survived.

" . . . Status report," the captain said, but a moment went by with no answer. "STATUS REPORT."

" . . . The drill is decimated," one of the men said. "The saws are not functional. The engine is almost scorched, and - with any luck - we could possibly fly out of here."

" . . . Then try."

The next few minutes included the men trying to get the Gotengo in the air, but with little success. Kaspar could only sit in his chair, knowing that all the work put into the machine had not been realized, and that he had failed . . . .
