Chapter 18

King Ghidorah vs. Red Moon

The night skies of San Francisco were blanketed with snow clouds that emanated a dim light down on the city, even after dark. It was only when it began to snow hard when Red Moon descended, his wings blowing the snow on the ground everywhere, decreasing the temperature even more. Once the monster landed, everything seemed to go completely silent, and the flakes added to the eeriness.

Suddenly, he heard a roar. Not from one monster, but it sounded to be a combination of three. Red Moon looked up, and the first thing he saw was a yellow lightning bolt, followed by another, and another, then silence. Powerful wingbeats thrashed like a storm, and the silhouette of a yellow scaled dragon descended. It had two tails; massive wings; red eyes, and three heads. No . . . not three heads . . . they were brothers.

King Ghidorah had returned, and brought vengeance with them.

They landed with a loud thump, stood up, and glared at Red Moon, who shared the same scowl. The scenery was silent, the city abandoned, the snow coming down harder, and the monsters roared in each other's faces for a long moment.

Red Moon lashed a claw, but Azazel lashed back, electricity building up in his mouth as he struck. Their enemy was pushed back a little, giving Zero the chance to blast lightning at his face, but Moon quickly turned, and bit down on his head. Azazel bit at his neck, instantly drawing blood as X shot electricity, but was not enough to get Red Moon off their brother, and he nearly crushed Zero's head between his teeth. He threw them into a building, but Azazel took a piece of their enemy's shoulder with him. When Red Moon realized this, he growled in pain. Ghidorah got back up, but was rammed through the skyscraper behind them by Red Moon, and he thrashed at them. X caught one of his claws while Zero and Azazel grabbed him by the shoulder and the side, then pushed him through a building, then into another one. The force made the skyscraper fall on the monster, and it roared when the building toppled over him.

A moment of hesitation followed, then King Ghidorah blasted electricity at the rubble, causing an explosion. After a few seconds, the lightning suddenly diverted. Red Moon had caught the bolt with his hand, and glared at the kings. He lashed its claw, knocking the thunder back at them, and the brothers were thrown to the ground on their stomach. Red Moon grabbed them, digging his claws into their back, then wrapped his arm around their necks, attempting to pull them from their shoulders. King Ghidorah roared in pain as they felt their scales begin to separate from each other - no, they couldn't die, not again. Zero managed to shoot a bolt of lightning at his enemy's face, but Red Moon lifted them up, brought them down hard, then lifted them back up again, and threw the kings into another building - ripping a large piece of their scales off - and the building fell upon impact.

The brothers limply stood back up, strained their necks, and scowled at their enemy.

. . . We remember you. . . . We remember what you tried to do. . . . We remember your history. . . . We remember . . . you . . . as a coward.

I will rule before your history ends.

Except . . . you were the one . . . who ran from the fight.

Red Moon bombarded Ghidorah with a large beam of red, but the kings blocked it with their electricity, throwing the beam back at their enemy. Once he was in a daze, the brothers charged, jumped, and kicked the monster in the face. Both landed, but Red Moon got up and slashed at Ghidorah, then grabbed them by the throats, and spun them around, slamming them against the buildings, then threw them. The kings were being hurtled to another skyscraper, but they turned, and jumped off the building, thrusting themselves at Red Moon. Zero, Azazel, and X did a backflip, kicking Moon hard in the chin, making it lose a few teeth. When they landed, the brothers bit down on their enemy's shoulders and head, lifted him over the city, and slammed him down hard on the ground.

Ghidorah's throats built up with lightning, and blasted it down on Red Moon, the bolts almost lighting up the darkened city. A few moments passed by, and Ghidorah stopped. They stared down at the monster. He was motionless, but still barely breathing. The brothers decided to finish this off with their true power, but just before they could do anything, Red Moon suddenly got up, and brought them down. He thrashed hard, drawing blood in the process, but the kings shoved him off, and took to the skies. They circled their enemy, and Azazel shot a lightning bolt at Red Moon's face, then again by X. Their adversary scowled and flew after them. Ghidorah turned and flew around the city.

The dark clouds were lit up by Red Moon hurtling beams at Ghidorah. They managed to dodge a few, but from time to time, they were hit, which was then followed by blood and scales flying off. One of the heads would crane their necks and return the attack with lightning bolts, aiming at Moon's chest, where its ribcage and heart were exposed. At one point, the Moon Titan stopped, took aim then struck. The beam hit the kings right below their necks, and they growled in pain. They then spun around, charged, and kicked the monster in the stomach. The brothers sank their teeth into his back, and broke one of its lower wings. They jumped off and kept flying, but even with the broken wing, it did not slow Red Moon while he chased after them. He grabbed them by the leg, but Zero shot a bolt at its chest, blood falling out, and the king jumped off. Ghidorah then did a double back flip, and kicked Red Moon hard in the back, knocking them out of the sky, through the freezing cold air, out of the clouds, and crashing into the middle of a large football stadium.

Ghidorah stepped off Red Moon, and looked down at him. He was still breathing, but it was weak, and they heard him growl in pain. The kings tried to think of what to do next, then turned their attention to the buildings behind them, looked back at the Titan, then walked off. At this point, Red Moon turned himself on his back. King Ghidorah was now about fifteen blocks away from the football stadium, and they climbed onto a building. They knelt down, readying themselves, then charged. They ran on top of buildings, almost knocking them down, jumping to the one after the next, and when the timing was right, they jumped. While doing a double front flip, they body slammed Red Moon, a loud cracking sound following the impact, along with pounds of blood.

Red Moon groaned in agony as the kings stood up. They stared down at him, who was barely alive. Suddenly Moon scowled, grabbed their legs, spun them around, destroying most of the football stadium, and threw them into a building. The brothers stood up, shaking their heads as debris fell on top of them. The next thing they knew, Red Moon rammed Ghidorah through another skyscraper. Azazel and X caught his fists, and all three of them tried to push him back. Red Moon scowled at Zero, who glared back, and they roared in each other's face. The Titan shot a red beam, and Zero blasted a large bolt of electricity, both trying to overpower the other.

With one loud roar, Zero knocked the beam back at Red Moon's face. While stunned, the brother leaned back, and head butted his enemy hard in the face, cracking his skull, along with pieces of scales falling off, and blood flowing as well. They kicked him away, then Azazel lashed across Red Moon's temple, then X biting at his chest, and ripping a large piece of bone out. The kings jumped, did a spin, and kicked their enemy in the neck, knocking him back and falling to the ground.

As snowfall became much more intense, Zero, Azazel, and X knelt down, closed their eyes, and focused. They cleared their mind of every distraction, tapping into the lightning inside them, releasing it into the ground, and static electricity flowed around them. Small thunderbolts were seen lighting up areas . . . and the snow stopped in mid air. All the flakes spun around, making a gigantic tornado, combining with dust and dirt, lightning bolts scattering across the kings. The brothers opened their glowing yellow eyes, and Red Moon stood back up. With one lift of their wing, Ghidorah roared, and all the particles engulfed their adversary.

The attack lasted for about a minute, then it finally stopped, and there still stood Red Moon, but was covered in blood, and most of his scales were gone, parts of his bones showing as well. With one last breath, Red Moon fell to the ground, and complete silence fell.

Heavy snow fell as King Ghidorah stared down at the corpse as it was buried by the flakes. The brothers breathed a sigh of relief, then turned their heads to the sky, and took off, breaking through the clouds, past the freezing wind, and flew above the clouds. It was peaceful, quiet, and lonely up there, and as the moon shifted from red to white, going away from the earth, King Ghidorah let out a long, triumphant, roar.
