Overview
The fanfic game's title has the etymology of Nótt based on the Norse personification of night. It is also a tribute to Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne's title.
Claude and his friends are being invited to investigate a region called Megami (etymology meaning as a goddess of the land or beauty). Megami is based on Tsushima Island, and is located around the areas of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh as a return to the Japan based national area. Tourists have come to this island to see cities and other areas.
Because then, a new evil team appears named Team Midnótt (etymology of midnight and Nótt). Team Midnótt led by their leader Nox seeks to make the world into pure darkness, they start off by taking headquarters in the center of Megami to infect every source of light. People from various regions come to Megami in holding off the team's darkness with barriers, while settling gyms for experienced trainers in hopes to challenge and beat them for the right to fight the team's Elite Four. There are no badges, just prove their worth of getting records by defeating the gym leaders before challenging the darkness of Team Midnótt of being worthy, however, no trainer has yet to defeat the eighth gym.
The fanfic game starts at Level 50 instead of Level 5 as a different experienced player/protagonist with a full set team for instance. Claude's defaut team since they're the closest to a canon team are the only owned Pokémon that have no options of releasing them since they're permanent party members, while the rest of the Pokémon that Claude catches/snags/received can be released. The player keeps improving over the course of the game such as catching more Pokémon to balance the team. Gym Leaders levels range from 55-85. Endgame content onward such as the Elite Four and the final boss goes levels around 90-100. Obviously, not every Pokémon makes it to the Pokédex like Sword/Shield. All gimmicks (such as Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves, Dynamax/Gigantamx, and Terastal) are available by using a unified Key Item called the Omni Ring. Triple battles and rotating battles make their return since they were removed in Sun/Moon. Shiny Pokémon are common in this fanfic game.
Has three difficulty settings: Easy Mode, Normal Mode, and Challenge Mode. There is a fourth difficulty unlocked after beating the main story called Nuzlocke Mode.
Just like in Legends Arceus, there are no player-vs-player and online tournaments.

Shadow Pokémon from Pokémon Colosseum/Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness make their return for being controlled by Team Midnótt, and need to be purified by the protagonists. Team Midnótt grunts and commanders are actually innocent people being controlled by a powerful darkness that's not from this native dimension. Defeating these members also frees them from the darkness. So the protagonists have to save both the Pokémon and Team Midnótt.
Other Pokémon characters make appearances. Examples: For Scarlet/Violet, Juliana (voiced by: Erin Yvette) uses Koraidon (named Primalong) & Meowscadara (female named Hanae) and Florian (voiced by: Anne Yatco) uses Miraidon (named Tianlong) & Quaquaval (male named Seymour). For Sword/Shield, Gloria (voiced by: Stephanie Southerland) uses Zacian and Hop (voiced by: Vargus Mason) uses Zamazenta. For Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, Elio (voiced by: Mike Dent) uses Solgaleo and Lillie (voiced by: Jennifer Losi) uses Lunala.
Wes is vital in helping the characters to snag and purify the Shadow Pokémon.

One of the trainers uses all four season variants of Sawsbuck and an Alpha Wyrdeer, all five of them are shinies. Another trainer uses all three Alpha Paldean Tauros in a triple battle.
The first two Shadow Pokémon to encounter and snag are Ariados and Crobat, also being a homage to the spider and bat-themed starter enemies of Kamen Rider.
While the members of Team Midnótt are brainwashed people, there is only one who is not and is a willing villain serving the team and the darkness. His name is Damian from the Kanto region, a real Hate Sink and based on the anime character (that was Ash's Charmander's former abusive trainer) as a canon immigrant. A sociopathic teenager (coming from an abusive family background before he killed his abusive parents) the same age range as Claude and Dexio. He's the one who also lures innocence to be controlled by the darkness, and battles Claude twice. Damian also intends to be 'the Starscream' in planning to overthrow Nox and rule the world for himself. First battle with him is after beating the fifth gym.
Damian's team: Shiny Hydreigon, Shiny Nihilego, Weavile, Dusknoir, Iron Hands, Brute Bonnet
Damian voiced by: Eli James
Music battle theme (First Battle): Shin Megami Tensei V OST - Battle - Ferocity -
Music battle theme (Final Battle): Shin Megami Tensei V OST - Battle - Dancing Crazy Murder -
-His Hydreigon uses Frustration, much like Ghetsis's back in Black/White 2.
In the second (and final) match before reaching the eighth gym, after Damian loss and his controlled Pokémon are snagged/freed from his control, Damian goes on a breakdown and attempts to abuse Hydreigon, only that Hydreigon uses Flamethrower in incinerating Damian to death (that no one feels sorry for) just before Hydreigon and the other controlled Pokémon can join Claude as part of the team.
After beating all eight gyms, can battle and catch the Forces of Nature (Landorus, Thundurus, Tornadus, and Enamorus) in their Therian Formes, but not before finding them first throughout all of Megami (Enamorus in the northern area, Tornadus in the southern area, Thundurus in the eastern area, and Landorus in the western area).
-Forces of Nature battle theme: Shin Megami Tensei V OST - Battle - Ryu Ko So Haku -

Following defeating the gym leaders, Blossom is then kidnapped and held hostage by Nox, which Claude and the others have to save her in reaching the Elite Four's place. It is revealed that the Megami meaning a goddess of the land and beauty also relates to Blossom.
Mementropolis (Victory Road)
Megami's Victory Road has no opposing trainers (relating to no one has beaten the eighth gym, and only Claude & Dexio are the first), just wild Pokémon, it is also a former city named Mementropolis in the center of Megami that was in currently in city/debris ruins by the anomalous darkness. Elite Four/Endgame/Ending
Music theme of the Elite Four area (Joker's Obelisk): Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne OST - 43. Large Map (Last Area)
Victory Theme (After Elite Four Battle): Victory - Soul Hackers 2 OST
-Twist is that they're the villain team and remind of the Kanto Elite Four being antagonists in the Pokémon Adventures manga. Just like the team's grunts, they too have been controlled by the true villain of the main story and being brought forth from their past timelines to the present. All four use the four ruinous legendaries of the Paldea region as their aces. They have to be defeated to be free from the villain's control and return back to their respective time periods.
-They alongside the true villain are only fought once, and no rematches in post-game since they only serve their purpose in the main story.
-Like always, Claude can challenge them in any order, technically the first three, while only the path to the Ground-Type one is sealed until the first three are defeated and save for last.
-The first three Elite Four's teams are Levels 91 - 95.

-His appearance has elements of Jack Garland from Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
-He is the strongest and the leader of the Elite Four. His team are around Levels 96 - 98.
-Veles is the only character in the story that says the word 'fuck', uses it once when referring to the true darkness/evil that's manipulating Nox.
-Theme of Veles and his team returning back to his time period: STRANGER OF PARADISE FINAL FANTASY ORIGIN OST: Chaos Shrine (Warriors of calamity)
The Champion/The True Villain
-Nox is non-binary (they/them). Nox's appearance is a teenager version combination of Dream and Lucifer from The Sandman such as a combined hairstyle, and wears a cloak alongside a mask similar to Nyx from Pokémon Insurgence. Their mask is also reminiscent of the Nyx Avatar from Persona 3. Nox's name is the Roman equivalent of Nyx.
-Turns out that Darkrai (surprisingly the same one of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers, though it's an alternate version) is the true villainas Hijacked by Ganon. Note that the Mystery Dungeon is a separate being from the mainstream version. This alternate version (separate from the canon version's fate) during his memory loss (thanks to Palkia (Mystery Dungeon)) comes across a mystery black source of power that Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) mention as Yami Matter, Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) touches it and he instantly regains his full memories. Using his newfound powers without hesitation, Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) uses this Yami Matter power in destroying his home universe (and getting his revenge on his enemies like the main playable character of Mystery Dungeon) before traversing to the main Pokémon universe. Afterwards, while the Yami Matter gave Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) newfound strength, the dark entity left and was never seen and heard again (and not part of the story anymore), allowing Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) to do his own agenda in plan to spread his darkness to this dimension. Secretly regaining more of his power by controlling Nox as his main symbiosis host (alongside taking advantage of Nox's insecurities of looking at their trouble past of being bullied due to their non-binary identity), Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon)'s appearance becomes a shiny palette of himself as a boost of his power and the Yami Matter beforehand. Unaware that Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon)'s essence survives the Yami Matter onslaught, as her light ventures inside Blossom (this is the reveal of the 'unseen light' to be Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon)) in hopes to recover her strength and turn the tide in helping the heroes.
-Nox and Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) loosely remind of Curie and Urayne from Pokémon Insurgence like Nox is being controlled and not themself, except that Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) as pure evil is fully aware of his actions unlike Urayne who's simply misunderstood and redeemed.
-Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon)'s endgame is to make the world into an endless nightmare of all living things to an eternal sleeping death, and plunge the world into darkness, just like he did to his home dimension he destroyed.
-In a flashback before Blossom is saved, Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) taunts the captive Blossom with mental nightmares upon putting her to sleep and to destroy his archenemy (Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon)) within. Helping out Blossom further is the surprise appearance of Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon) who has recovered her strength in time (alongside becoming a shiny variant like Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon)) upon Claude and others' rescue appearance.
-Music theme of the reveal of Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) is the true villain: Pokémon Darkrai's Theme Medley by Rémy Goux
-Music theme of Blossom and Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon)'s bond: Legendary Battle! vs. Cresselia [Fanmade] - MisC
-Dexio helps Claude in a tag team battle against Nox's team in the first half. After beating Nox, Dexio is fatally injured (and for Sina to take him to recovery) by Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) before the second half (allowing Blossom (as the main battle couple for the Claude/Blossom pairing) and Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon) to take over), but recovers after the final battle.
-Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) voiced by: Paul St. Peter
-Nox voiced by: Casey Mongillo
Champion Nox (Dark-Type) (First Half) (All of the Pokémon are Level 100) - Guzzlord (named Aku) (holding Rocky Helmet), Shiny Alpha Roaring Moon (named Malzeno) (Z-Move Dark), Shiny Alpha Iron Jugulis (named Datenshi) (holding Life Orb), Shiny Alpha Iron Thorns (named Yami Kaiser) (Terastal Dark, holding Assault Vest), Mega Absol (female named Homura), Gigantamax Grimmsnarl (named King Kobold) (has the ability Prankster, holding Light Clay)
-Music battle theme (first half against Nox's team): STRANGER OF PARADISE FINAL FANTASY ORIGIN OST: Astos
-Nox's full six team loosely references Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon)'s six minions (Magcargo, Aggron, Arbok, Rhyperior, Magmortar, Mismagius) in his final boss fight back in his home game, only that Nox's team has Dark-Types to properly represent Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon)'s nature.
-Guzzlord is the first to be sent out. Absol is the last to be sent out.
-Guzzlord's nickname is an obvious reference to the main villain of Samurai Jack.
-Roaring Moon's nickname references the vampiric dragon from Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
-Iron Thorns's nickname is based on Kaiser/Yami Ghidorah (YYGDM-01) from YuYuGiDigiMoon's Invasion of the Rajita and Wrath of the Defiants (the series finale of the mega crossover fanfic).
-Iron Jugulis's nickname means fallen angel in Japanese.
-Absol's nickname is based on the character from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, her Mega Evolution's wings can loosely remind of Devil Homura. Homura's time powers also loosely supports the title of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time.
Shiny Darkrai (Second Half) (His stats are far higher (like over a 1,000 like Eternamax Eternatus) than the average Darkrai as a final boss, he's Level 100)
-Music battle theme (second half against Darkrai himself): Battle Against Dusknoir/Darkrai - Orchestral Arrangement (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2)
-Blossom with a Cresselia added to her team as a temporary member helps Claude in the second half. Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon)'s help references Zacian and Zamazenta's arrival against Eternamax Eternatus.
-Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon) voice by: Carole Ruggier
-There is a non-standard game over screen should the player lose to Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) of the dark anomaly killing all life with his nightmares and plunge the world into darkness.
Non-Standard Game Over (If Lose to Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon)): Game Over - Soul Hackers 2 OST
Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) is finally killed and ceases to exist, and with help from Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon)'s sacrifice and ceases to exist as well at the same time. Nox (alongside his Pokémon) is freed from Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon)'s controlled and thanks the heroes before their recovery/rehabilitation. That makes Claude and Blossom the first proper Champions of Megami island. Claude and the others give their condolences to Cresselia (Mystery Dungeon) and all innocent inhabitants of the destroyed alternate Mystery Dungeon universe. Claude and his friends leave Megami in returning to their homes, wondering if they can visit the island again.
Music played in ending and during credits: In the Future of Darkness Medley - Orchestral Arrangement (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2)
Years later in an epilogue scenes; Claude, Blossom, Peonia, and Nemona are married and have babies, reminiscent of Rex/Pyra/Mythra/Nia's marriage at the end of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Likewise Dexio, Sina, Iris, and Rita are married and have babies.
Post-Game Content
Takes place seven months after the main story and before the epilogue scene years later, allowing Claude and others to return to Megami. The tone became lighter and softer like the mainstream canon games since Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) was wiped out of existence.

A/N: Hi, I know it's been a long time since the last post.
FTR, this Pokémon Nótturne concept isn't my idea or written by me. This is Allfather-Ford's. I don't take credit for anything he did with it. He allowed me to post this in this fic to remind us that AnM isn't dead.
So, what does have anything to do with Akane no Mai?
Yami Matter. That's what. Yes, the malevolent entity has demonstrated it can crossover into other realities, even outside AnM and other Persona 5 dimensions. As far as Pokémon Nótturne is concerned, the YM came and went, infecting Darkrai (Mystery Dungeon) directly and others indirectly.
It brings us to another thing. This detailed summary Ford wrote is meant to be an anthology tale and an account of the Yami Matter affecting another dimension. That's the only link to AnM. That and the obvious Persona 5 references, especially with the naming conventions for the Main Areas. Beyond that, Pokémon Nótturne will be its own standalone story with no ties to AnM's narrative. So, there won't be a crossover between the two. Ford has no plans to do so.
That said he hopes someone can adopt the Pokémon Nótturne concept and flesh it out into a multi-chaptered fanfic. This would be a great opportunity for someone with enough imagination, passion, and drive to adopt and write this fic. I can imagine scenes from this being written as if they were cut scenes straight from a video game. If this were a real game, I can see there'd be an audience who wanted darker storytelling. Though, I doubt Nintendo would go for even one 'f-bomb' in a Pokémon game. Haha, too hilarious to even think about.
Anyway, I'm happy to feature Ford's anthology concept here. We do have a few more anthology concepts we'd like to show one of these days.
Until then, peace.
