Sports Festival: Cavalry

Lee hefted the seats onto his shoulders, getting it situated before Uraraka made the three girls weightless, having agreed to help them get situated since she was a good friend. Once all three were in their seats, she released her Quirk's control and Lee grunted as three people's weight dropped onto his shoulders. He was glad Momo had thought to give him a pair of handles in front of his shoulders to help him balance. The construct was a set of three seats, one directly above him where Toru sat, her legs on either side of his head, since they wouldn't obstruct his view, then a seat to either side of hers, rotated outward at forty five degree angles so that they could be fit closer in to minimize off-balancing. Toru's seat was also higher than the other two, making it that much harder for other teams to reach her headband. Then, there were a pair of handles extending out and down in front of him for him to hold onto, and a pair of les extended to the ground on either side with skis that had tubes in them that then ran up to Mina, who would use her non-corrosive slime as lubricant to make them slide easier. The whole seating construct was essentially weightless, so the only weight he had to worry about was the girls themselves, which wasn't as bad as he expected, even with three of them, especially since the skis took most of the weight and transferred it to the ground. Still, even with them, without Uraraka being a good friend, getting the girls in the seats would have been, at best, near-impossible. At least, not without falling over.

"Thanks Uraraka," Lee smiled.

"No problem," Uraraka beamed. "We may not be allies, but we're still friends."

"Speaking of friends," Lee grinned. "How are you and Midoriya?"

Uraraka blushed. "W-What are you talking about?"

"Ah hah!" Lee grinned. "Busted!"

"Please don't say anything!" Uraraka pleaded. "Any of you!"

"Aw, I think you'd be really cute together!" Mina said.

"I agree," Momo said. "You would make an excellent couple."

"You should totally tell him!" Toru said.

"Better, if you two win this game, you should give him a kiss as celebration," Lee grinned. "The poor kid would probably faint."

Uraraka blushed. "I'm not doing that! Besides, no one's going to beat you!"

"We'll see," Lee grinned. "You'd better go."

Uraraka glanced at the clock, which was almost to zero, and gasped, running away to join the rest of her team. Lee scanned the crowd. The main threats were assembled already. Midoriya had chosen well. He was the rider with Uraraka, Fumikage, and the pink-haired Support Course girl as horses. An interesting combination, but still a smart one. Fumikage could attach and carry at the same time with his shadow, Uraraka could make Midoriya weightless, probably all four, and the Support Course girl's gadgets most likely included something helpful. Todoroki had chosen Iida, Denki, and Ojiro, also excellent choices. Bakugo had chosen Eijiro, Sero, and a ginger girl from Class One B, who wore her hair in a pony tail on the left side of her head. Lee wasn't sure what she could do, or why she teamed up with a One A team, but if Bakugo chose her, she was probably dangerous.

"Remember," Lee said. "We're collecting as a team, so Mina and Momo will collect and pass to Toru to wear them, that way they're not having to deal with the headbands getting in the way."

"Right," the three girls agreed.

"Toru, do everything you can to keep that headband safe," Momo said.

"Right!" Toru said.

The DJ announced the start of the game and every single team turned on Lee's. Lee smirked, taking off instantly. He grit his teeth under the strain of running with extra weight, but with Mina's slime helping, he was still able to move much faster than anyone else. They sped between the teams, getting out of the ring of opposition. As Lee expected, the moment everyone realized they weren't going to be able to take the ten million headband easily, they turned on each other. Almost all of them. Tetsutetsu's team continued to chase Lee's, as did Todoroki's, though Lee was somewhat surprised when Bakugo went after Midoriya's team instead. He ignored that as the ground in a trail from the lead horse of Tetsutetsu's team, a kid with a skeletal face, turned to quicksand, only narrowly missing Lee's feet and the seats' skis. Lee huffed, turning and streaking toward them.

"Mina, make the seats jump right...now!" Lee instructed.

Mina grunted with effort, sending a massive spray of slime through the hoses and lifting the seat a few inches, Lee jumping as well, just in time to pass over another attempt at sinking them. Then, as soon as Lee's feet hit solid ground, Mina ended the spray just as they shot past Tetsutetsu's team, Momo smacking a pillow into Tetsutetsu's face, knocking off his headband, which she snatched just before it was out of reach. Then, they shot away from the opposing team, swerving around a trail of ice from Todoroki's team and putting some distance between them.

"Nice job, Momo!" Lee grinned.

"Thanks," Momo smirked. "Who's next?"

Just then, a One B team with a calm, confident-looking blonde as a rider seemed to manifest off to the right. Lee's eyes widened as the blonde stood, reaching for Toru's headband, only for her to smack his hand away. He smirked, vanishing, minus his clothes, and Mina yelped, spraying him and his team with slime, making them all recoil in surprise. At the same time, Lee swerved to the left, directly toward the main group of teams. He glanced around. Most of Class One A had lost their headbands, and the blonde they'd just escaped from had half a dozen headbands around his neck.

"Looks like we underestimated One B," Lee said. "They hid their skills in the race in order to gage our abilities."

"Smart move," Momo commended. "But it's not going to help them against us."

"Agreed," Mina said. "Let's go hunting."

Lee grinned. "Absolutely."

They sped through the teams, passing several One B teams, and Mina and Momo together snatched half a dozen headbands. Just as they sped out of the cluster of teams again, the DJ announced the halfway point of the game. At the same time, the ground under them suddenly turned to ice. Lee swore, beginning to skid, slowing rapidly as he tried to turn.

"Mina, let it slide!" Lee instructed, Mina sighing in relief as she finally ended her spray of slime. He glanced up at her. "Are you okay?"

"I'll be alright!" Mina nodded.

Lee nodded as well, looking to Todoroki's team as they rapidly closed in, Lee having skidded to a stop. "Shit. Be ready!" He crouched, his feet blurring as he stomped repeatedly to break the ice enough to get a foothold.

"Iida, go!" Todoroki said, Iida streaking forward, both Denki and Ojiro sliding on the ice so they didn't fall.

More teams that lost their headbands began to close in rapidly, but Todoroki held the stick he was holding down, letting it drag along the ground before ice exploded outward from it. Lee shoved off, streaking away from Todoroki's team. He shouted for Mina to jump the seats, and Mina did so, Lee also jumping just as the fresh sheet of ice shot outward, freezing the entire floor of the stadium, trapping every other team besides Todoroki's. Lee landed, beginning to skate, along with his seats, and Mina ended her slime again as Iida began to close in. On the ice, even as fast as Lee was, he couldn't maneuver well, especially with the seats on his back, which mean that he wasn't able to go much faster than Iida.

"Be ready for a fight!" Lee warned them. "I can't outrun them like this!"

"Roger!" the others agreed.

Just then, flames exploded out of Iida's leg pipes, first orange, then blue.

"Torque over!" Iida shouted, exploding forward, not even toughing the ground. "Recipro Burst!"

"Shit!" Lee swore, just before Todoroki snatched Toru's headband on the way past.

"No!" Toru shrieked. "He got it!"

"It's fine!" Lee said. "We can take second. We're hitting One B's teams."

"Right!" the three girls said as Lee exploded forward.

He pushed himself fast, too fast to be able to steer, and aimed for the nearest team with points. The rider, a girl with green, thorned vines for hair, narrowed her eyes and raised a hand to the headbands, only for Momo to knock her hand aside with a bo staff, then release it in time to snatch all of her headbands. Lee skidded to a stop, barely, just as Fumikage's Dark Shadow shot toward them, swiping for the headbands in Momo's hand. Momo reached instantly, forming a shield and blocking the snatch and Dark Shadow retreated.

"Who's next?" Lee asked, glancing at the scoreboards.

There were four teams with points. His, Todoroki's, Bakugo, who apparently managed to snatch the blond guy's headbands, and the team carrying Tetsutetsu. However, there was a bracket at the top with four places for who would move on, and Midoriya's team wasn't there.

"Toru, four teams can advance," Lee said. "What say we repay Uraraka for being a good friend?"

"You want me to give them some of our headbands?" Toru asked quietly.

"No," Lee said. "Let's distract Tetsutetsu's team for them."

"Alright," Momo nodded. "Let's do it!"

Lee grinned and shot into motion, swerving around Dark Shadow, and sped after Tetsutetsu's team, which was largely playing keep away, at this point. Tetsutetsu glanced back at them and swore when he saw them gaining rapidly. His team moved to flee, but as they did, Lee closed in on them, then shot past. Momo's hand snapped out, but only to slap the back of his neck, making it look like she missed the headbands. Tetsutetsu yelped, holding a hand to the back of his neck as Momo shook her hand.

"You okay?" Lee asked.

"Fine," Momo said, just as Midoriya snatched Tetsutetsu's headbands away from behind. "Midoriya got them!"

"Good," Lee grinned, seeing Bakugo chasing after Todoroki's team, Iida's engines still belching smoke, apparently not functioning for the moment.

Bakugo launched himself at Todoroki, but before he could reach him, the buzzer sounded. He fell flat on his face as he stopped using his Quirk, apparently too frustrated by failing to take Todoroki out of the games to function properly.

"We barely made it," Lee sighed. "Fourth place isn't bad."

"Now let's take a look at who our top four teams are!" the DJ said. "In first place, Team Todoroki! In second place, Team Bakugo! In third place, Team Midoriya!"

Uraraka and the Support Course girl both began to cheer, the Support Course girl hugging a jetpack Midoriya had been wearing as Uraraka hugged Midoriya, who damn-near passed out.

"And in fourth place, Team Lee!" the DJ shouted.

Lee sighed, stretching and twisting, finally free of the added weight, and the seats.

"We did it!" Mina cheered.

"That was so much fun!" Toru said.

"Your plan worked almost perfectly, Lee," Momo congratulated.

"Yeah," Lee said. "If not for Iida's trick. Who knew he could actually move that fast. I'm impressed."

"Now, let's take an hour long lunch break before we begin the afternoon festivities!" the DJ said.

"Oh, now that sounds like fun," Lee said, his stomach grumbling loudly. "I haven't burned that much energy at once in forever."

"Agreed," Momo said. "I should eat something too. Making those seats wasn't easy."

They all headed to the waiting room to get food before finding a quiet place to eat.
