Complications

Lee pressed Momo's front gat's buzzer, which she still refused to make stop sounding like a normal doorbell, while raising an eyebrow at the others. Momo had agreed to tutor Mina, Denki, Sero, Ojiro, and Kyoka. Toru had also decided to come along, since she needed the help anyway, and most of her close friends were going to be there. And since Lee was planning to train with Momo leading up to the finals' practical exam, he had agreed to help out.

"I've been waiting for you, everyone!" Momo said excitedly. "Please, come in!"

The gate opened and Lee walked through, the others following, Mina and Toru catching up instantly.

"You knew about this!?" both asked, gesturing round at the estate, which was so wide that from the gate, you couldn't see either end of it looking down the road.

"Yeah," Lee said. "She and I trained together here before the Sports Festival."

"Why didn't you tell us!?" both demanded.

"Well, she did tell us all she was rich," Lee said.

"Yes but I didn't know she meant this rich!" both said.

"Yeah, it kinda caught me off guard too," Lee said.

They walked in silence together for a few minutes before they finally reached the mansion. After they arrived, Lee called out into the house that he would lead them to the great hall where they'd be studying, and Momo thanked him from somewhere in the house. A few minutes later, they were sitting around her enormous dining table, which could fit all of the first year Hero Course students and have room left over.

"I could not feel any more out of place right now," Ojiro said, looking around.

"Yeah, me too," Sero agreed.

"Just wait," Lee smiled. "If it's anything like the first time I came over..." He shook his head, smiling.

The others were about to ask what he meant when Momo walked in wearing a red shirt and white short shorts, pushing a serving cart with a super fancy, and expensive, tea port and cups for all of them, along with the little plates that came with the cups at fancy restaurants, or apparently rich peoples' houses. There was also a stand that held two plates and had several small sweet cakes on them. Momo's expression and mood really sold it, however. She was practically shining with giddy excitement, and she was almost bouncing.

"Is something wrong?" Momo asked.

"No, everything's perfect!" the others all smiled instantly, completely unable to disappoint her by saying anything else.

Lee chuckled, standing and walking over to her. "Allow me. Denki's going to need all the study time he can get."

"Hey!" Denki complained as Kyoka laughed.

Momo nodded and began the study session while Lee passed out cups and plates, then set the sweets in the middle with the tea, sugar, and cream. Then, he sat down in his seat again, which was directly between Mina and Toru, and began to help where he could. It wasn't easy, Mina and Denki especially needed all the help they could get. However, between the two of them, they made quick work. So, after a few hours of studying, and with everyone showing improvement, they all headed outside for training. At which point everyone but Lee immediately regretted agreeing to join in when they began to follow the brutally strict training plan Momo and Lee had come up with together, which combined strength, endurance, minor body hardening, and reaction time training with martial arts classes and weapon training. Finally, two hours later, they called it a day. And then, they did it again the next day. And the next. And the next. And the next.

"Man, English is so hard!" Denki complained during one study session.

"Not if you know what you're doing," Lee said in English. "Or if you're lucky like me and your super-genius sister thought ahead as a child and put a universal translator in the neural implant she stuck inside your skull."

"No freaking way!" Denki said. "Your brain chip can do languages too!?"

"Yup," Lee said. "I'm fluent in every spoken language on Earth. And two types of sign language."

"Lucky!" Denki grumbled.

"I want a neural implant in my head too," Mina said. "Imagine all the knowledge I could just load into that thing!"

"Less than you'd think," Lee said. "I'm only fluent in spoken languages because the implant really has a legitimate translator in it. It doesn't actually store the languages."

"Still, that's so cool!" Mina said. "And studying is so hard!"

Lee chuckled. "You'll get the hang of it."

"Yaoyorozu, which way's the bathroom?" Toru asked.

"I got it," Lee said. "It's this way."

He led her out of the room and through a short maze of hallways to the bathroom, then waited outside for her. When she stepped out, she hugged him.

"I'm really glad you're okay," Toru said. "When I heard you'd been attacked, I was so scared."

"I'm alright," Lee said. "I'm worried about my sister, but I'm alright."

"How's she doing?" Toru asked as they started to walk back.

"A little better," Lee said. "Being home helps. Although, Tatsumi's been spending more time there too, and it's...not exactly pleasant for me to be around him anymore. So, I've been trying to stay out of his way."

"It's too bad you lost a friend, but if he thinks any of that was your fault, he's an idiot," Toru said.

"No," Lee said. "He's right. Amy was taken to draw me out. It's literally my fault."

"You couldn't have known that would happen!" Toru said.

"That doesn't mean it's-"

Toru pulled hi into a kiss to cut him off. "It is not your fault that people do horrible things, and it's not your fault that those horrible things happened to involve your sister! Lee, you would never do anything to hurt her, and all you did was take part in a Sports Festival. If someone chose to do something horrible because of that, then that's on them, not you."

Lee smiled. "Thanks, Toru." He gave her a quick kiss, then hugged her.

However, when they turned to head back to the great hall, Mina was staring at them in surprise.

"Mina!" Toru squeaked.

"Uh, we were wondering where you two went," Mina said. "Sorry."

She ran off and Lee sighed, resting his face in his hand.

"Sorry," Toru said.

"No, you're fine," Lee said. "I'll...talk to her." He groaned. "This is what I get for not forcing myself to decide sooner."

"Take your time," Toru said. "We'll wait. Even her."

He nodded and they headed back to the great hall, returning to the study session. After they were done, Mina called it a day and Lee caught Momo's concerned glance. He nodded and followed Mina, catching up to her at the gate, since he didn't bother using his Quirk.

"Mina, wait up," he said, catching her arm.

"Why?" Mina asked. "I understand. Toru won. You two just wanted some privacy."

"No, it's not like that," Lee said. "She actually did need to use the bathroom. I was just..."

"Just what?" Mina asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Thanking her for forcing me out of a dark train of though," Lee said.

"Funny, I don't remember you thanking me like that any time I cheered you up," Mina said. "Look, if you want to make out with Toru, that's fine. I'll try to stay out of your-"

Lee groaned, grabbing her by the arm and spinning her before capturing her lips in a kiss. She tried to push him away for a moment, but instead her hands clutched at his shirt as she leaned into the kiss. After a few seconds, Lee pulled back, resting his forehead against hers.

"I'm sorry for making you think I had chosen Toru," Lee said. "I haven't. I haven't chosen anyone. Not yet. You're all important to me. Yes, I've kissed Toru before, but it doesn't mean that she and I are together, and she knows that."

"And neither did this," Mina sighed. "Okay, I understand."

"You're not mad?" Lee asked.

"Oh, no, I'm mad," Mina said. "I'm mad I didn't do this earlier." She pulled him into another kiss and he sighed, allowing her to have what she wanted for several seconds before pulling away. "I'll keep trying to steal you from the others. But I also won't do that in public. Just don't expect me to be totally innocent if it's just you and me from now on, since I know I need to work harder."

"You're going to be a headache," Lee sighed. "I have to get back to training."

"Go on," Mina smiled. "I'll see you again tomorrow."

Lee nodded and turned, returning to the mansion with his Quirk while Mina called a cab.
