Chapter Seven - Jones and Tylers Part 2
Steel gray eyes took in the street and the people among them as he allowed the young girl with him to lead the way. It had been months since the two of them had escaped their prison. It had taken him some time to understand his role. He was her protector and companion. The young girl did not wish to be alone as she searched for... well he didn't truly know what she was searching for.
He knew she wanted to get back to her parents, but she could do that at any time. She knew around when she had been taken. She knew where she had been taken from. He was uncertain, but confident to say that she could sense where her parents were. If she wanted to go to them, she could. And yet, she didn't.
Should he ask her what they were searching for? Or was he expected to know this already?
Screams sounded around him along with what sounded like an explosion. He blinked in shock as the young girl spun on the balls of her feet and bolted back down the way they came. Without a second thought, he took off after her. Something was happening. He didn't know what and he didn't know why. All he knew was that he needed to protect her, and make sure that they didn't try to use this commotion to try to take her back.
They ran for miles, never stopping, dodging around people who had stopped in their tracks to stare upwards. They ran down alley ways and streets and across bridges. He was thankful that he had the stamina to keep up with her.
They slid to a stop at a blockade. While she began to jump up and down to try and see past the blockade, he let his eyes sweep over everything. Nothing was too small to look at. The soldiers in the blockade, the vehicle used to make the blockade, the people that was gathering around the blockade, the vehicles scattered along the road. He looked at everything.
His instincts that he had long thought nonexistent, and had only awoken after taking her hand, were screaming at him. It told him danger was around them. That the unseen enemy was there with them. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. They were out in the open, anything could creep up on them and take her from him.
Without thought, he swept the young girl into his arms and ran down an alley. She laughed at him before transporting them away.

Rose heard the people on the ground floor screaming and knew that the Judoon had made it inside. She also knew, thanks to the Doctor, that the Judoon wouldn't actually hurt anyone, that they were like space police. If they were here, then that meant that they were looking for someone, everyone else didn't matter.
From their hiding spot on the first floor, Rose, Martha, and the Doctor watched as they scanned everyone. They were searching for something not human. "Aw, look down there, you've got a little shop." The Doctor muttered, and though he sounded happy, Rose could tell that he was far from it. She could tell he didn't agree with how the Judoon went about things. To him, they were just thugs. "I like a little shop." He continued.
"Never mind that. What are Judoon?" Martha asked.
"They're like police. Well, police-for-hire, unless you ask the Doctor then it would be thugs-for-hire." Rose informed her.
"And they brought us to the moon?" Martha asked.
"Neutral territory." The Doctor informed them. "According to galactic law, they've got no jurisdiction over the earth so they isolated it." They ducked further in the plant they were hiding in as a Judoon passed under them. "That rain and lightning, that was them using an H2O scoop."
"I thought using an H2O scoop was made illegal by this point." Rose said.
"It is." The Doctor told her and Rose nodded, they would be able to use that tid bit of information to help them at some point, she just knew it.
"What are you two on about? Galactic law? H2O Scoop? I mean where did you get that from?" Martha asked, clearly not believing them. Rose didn't blame her, had she not lived through everything she had the past few years, she wouldn't have believed any of this either. Rose bit back a surprised gasp when the Doctor suddenly yanked her away from the plant to a better hiding place that also gave them a better line of sight. Martha quickly followed them.
"Human." A Judoon grunted under them.
"If they're police, are we under arrest?" Martha asked. "Are we trespassing on the moon or something?" She was asking good questions.
"Kind of a shitty move to arrest us for trespassing on the moon when they were the ones who put us here. But that was a good thought." Rose told Martha and received a tight smile.
"I wish it were that simple." The Doctor muttered as he continued to watch the Judoon. "They're making a catalogue, that means they're after something non-human, which is very bad for me and Rose." And Rose realized he was right. Though she had been born a human, after combining with the TARDIS, her DNA had changed to something non-human.
"Why?" Martha asked and they glanced at her. "Oh, you're kidding me?" She laughed expecting them to be joking. "Don't be ridiculous." When she realized they weren't fear flashed through her eyes for half a second before her eyes flashed down the Doctor's chest before flying over to Rose.
"Come on, then." The Doctor said to standing up, taking Rose with him, and Rose wondered if Martha would be joining them or if finding out that they weren't exactly human had scared her away.
"Troop 5, floor one. Troop 6, floor two. Identify humans and find the transgressor." Rose faintly heard the Judoon commander order as they ran, looking for a way to escape being scanned as the Doctor's mind raced to figure out a plan.

The Doctor's mind raced as he used his sonic screwdriver to access the computer's files while Rose searched the filing cabinets. If they could just find the person the Judoon were searching for then they could save them all. By his calculations, there was only an hour or two worth of oxygen left in the hospital, and that was if no one panicked more than they were now. But it was proving to be more difficult since all the files appeared to be blank.
"They've reached the third floor." Martha informed them as she ran into the room. He didn't respond as he read the files, knowing that Rose would respond.
"Thanks, Martha." Rose said as she shut the filing cabinet. I didn't find anything out of the ordinary. You?
Nothing yet. The Doctor told her and felt her sigh.
"What is that thing?" Martha asked.
"It's his sonic screwdriver, it unlocks almost anything." Rose explained as she moved to stand behind him. The Doctor heard Martha sigh in annoyance.
"Well, if you're not going to answer me properly." Martha muttered angrily and anger flashed through him. Though Martha was proving to be a great help with all her wonderfully thought out questions, the fact that she never believed anything that they told her and constantly questioned them and fought them about everything was starting to annoy him.
"It really is a screwdriver and it really is sonic." The Doctor snapped out and received a mental slap.
Be more considerate, she's scared and confused and not used to any of this. Rose whispered in his mind as she took the screw driver from him and let Martha see it.
"See, it's an alien screwdriver that just also happens to be sonic." Rose explained as he held out his hand, silently demanding the screwdriver back.
"What else have you got? A laser spanner?" Martha asked and the Doctor was sure if she was kidding or actually asking.
"I did, but it was stolen by Emily Pankurst. Cheeky woman." The Doctor told her truthfully as he went back to scanning the files looking for at least one file that wasn't blank.
"I didn't know you have a laser spanner." Rose said.
"I don't, as I said, it was stolen." The Doctor told her before growling and hitting the monitor. "What is wrong with this computer?" He felt Rose's concern and worry. He knew that she didn't understand why he was so worked up, to her this was just another adventure with a slight risk of injury, but the Doctor understood that the Judoon didn't care if everyone in the hospital suffocated and died, as long as they found whom ever they were looking for. He wasn't going to let Rose and their unborn daughter die in this damn hospital. This was why he didn't like hospitals, nothing ever good came from being in a hospital! "Judoon must have locked it down." Rose suddenly started to giggle causing both the Doctor and Martha to look at her.
"Judoon platoon upon the moon." Rose giggled out, causing the Doctor to chuckle. Rose saw the look she was receiving from Martha and sobered up. "I'm so sorry Martha, we were just travelling past, swear, we were just. . . wandering. We weren't looking for any sort of trouble. Honestly! Was just about to suggest we visit a friend when this one noticed the plasma coils around the hospital."
"Plasma coils?" Martha asked, slightly taken aback by Rose's sudden rambling attack.
"The lightning, that's a plasma coil." The Doctor explained.
"Oh." Martha said as Rose continued.
"Yeah, and it's apparently building up for a couple days now. So we decided to check in. At first it was gonna be me who was gonna be the one in bed, but then we decided that it would be less dangerous if he was the one. We thought something was going on inside. But we miscalculated since it turns out that the plasma coils were the Judoon up above."
"What are they looking for?" Martha asked.
"Obviously something that appears human, but isn't." Rose said with a sigh as she leaned against his back. Through her mind, the Doctor felt the stirring of her emotions as her hormonal body sped through hundreds of emotions within seconds. A small part of him wondered which emotion would win.
"Like the two of you, apparently." Martha said, her human brain trying to catch up with theirs, and, the Doctor had to admit, she was going a decent job too.
"Like us, but not us." The Doctor said.
"Haven't they got a photo?" Martha asked.
"It could change it shape." Rose suggested.
"Whatever it is, can't you just leave the Judoon to find it?" Martha asked earning a deep, and dangerous growl from him that had her backing up half a step and Rose wrapped her arms around him, hugging him from behind.
"If they declare the hospital guilty of harbouring a fugitive, they'll sentence it to execution." The Doctor informed the woman.
"All of us?" Martha asked in shock.
"Oh, yes." The Doctor told her.
"However, if we find this thing first-" Rose started but was interrupted by the Doctor.
"OH!" He yelled angrily, startling Martha into taking another half step back as the screen froze before turning a bright orange with the words 'Error' written in the Judoon language. "They're thick! Judoon are thick!"
"What happened?" Rose asked.
"They are so completely thick, they've wiped the records!" The Doctor growled. "That's clever." He added sarcastically.
"What are we looking for?" Martha asked urgently, finally understanding the situation they were in.
"That's the thing, Martha, we don't know. But we'd know it when we saw it." Rose told her.
"I'd say any patient admitted in the past week with unusual symptoms." The Doctor growled out as Rose began to run her hand through his hair soothingly. "Maybe there's back up." The Doctor said grabbing the monitor and turning it around to try and find a why to get to the backups, if there were any.
"You too keep working, I'll go and ask Mr. Stoker. He might know."
