Camping
Aizawa stormed toward the boys' cabin, reaching for the door just as it flew open.
"Mister Aizawa!" Midoriya gasped. "Please hurry! There's something wrong with Lee!"
Aizawa swept into the room instantly, the other guys in the room making a path, allowing Aizawa to reach Lee, who looked like he was sleeping, except, when Aizawa shone a flashlight in his eyes, they didn't contract. He felt for a pulse, frowning.
"Is he..." Eijiro trailed off.
"He's alive," Aizawa said. "Just exhausted." He glanced down at Lee's body and stopped, pulling the covers back. "His body..."
"What happened to him?" Denki asked, staring at Lee's emaciated body, his bones protruding grotesquely.
"I think...his Quirk burned up all of his body's stored up energy," Aizawa said. "So in order to keep using it, his body burned its own mass as fuel."
"Is he going to be okay?" Todoroki asked.
"I don't know," Aizawa said. "If his body's stopped devouring itself, then in a few years, he may be back to the state he was in yesterday, before the camping trip. If it's not, he'll die."
"That long?" Midoriya asked. "Isn't there anything we can do?"
"Unfortunately, no," Aizawa said. "He used up all of his energy. This is the result."
"Energy..." Midoriya trailed off, then gasped, turning to Denki. "Kaminari, zap him!"
"What?" Denki asked. "Why?"
"This is just a theory, but you know how every time he uses his Quirk in earnest, lightning comes out of his eyes, right?" Midoriya asked. "Well, I think that's the energy his Quirk uses. Or maybe it's a second Quirk, but one that will allow him to absorb your electricity for energy."
"But at the U.S.J. he got hurt by that other electricity type," Denki pointed out.
"Start with small shocks and work your way up," Midoriya said. "He doesn't know how to use his secondary Quirk, if he actually has one, so he wouldn't know how to absorb electricity. But he might be able to on instinct now that he's out of energy."
Denki looked to Aizawa, who nodded.
"Worth a shot," Aizawa said.
Denki nodded and set his hands on Lee's, lighting up with electricity. His face scrunched up in effort to control his output, but as it climbed, the electricity continued to arc over Lee's entire body, Lee spasming. Then, all at once, it stopped electrocuting Lee, the electricity over his body focusing to Lee's hands, sinking into him. Denki began to increase his output more quickly, and suddenly Midoriya gasped, staring at Lee's torso. Everyone else looked and saw it swelling. Regrowing. Finally, Denki stopped as Lee's eyes creaked open before rolling around as he took in his surroundings.
"Thanks...for the...boost...Denki," Lee said, still so exhausted he could barely speak.
"Denki?" Denki asked.
"Kaminari," Lee said, waving a hand as he felt strength beginning to return to him as his body finished absorbing the electricity Kaminari had hit him with. "What happened?"
"Your Quirk burned up all of your energy and your body began to break itself down to replace it," Aizawa said. "No more overworking your Quirk. Be more careful."
"Agreed," Lee said. "Whose idea was it to shock me?"
"Midoriya's," Kaminari said. "He figured out you'd be able to absorb it from the way electricity comes from your eyes."
"Then I owe you one, Midoriya," Lee said.
"Now that everyone's awake, you're all late for training," Aizawa said. "You have three minutes to be ready."
Everyone sprinted out of the cabin instantly, Aizawa following while Lee changed quickly and put his boots and exoskeleton on, then shot out of the cabin after them, skidding to a stop beside Midoriya.
"Now that everyone's finally here, good morning class," Aizawa said. "Today we will begin a training camp that will increase your strength. Our goal is to increase your skills exponentially so that each of you earns a provisional license. This will allow you to face the dangers that continue to fester in the darkness. Proceed carefully. Look alive Bakugo." He tossed Bakugo a softball. "Try throwing that for me."
"Yeah, sure," Bakugo said. "Like in the fitness test."
"That's right," Aizawa said. "When you fist started school, your record was seven-oh-five point two meters. Let's see if you've improved."
"Oh, I get it!" Mina said. "We're checking our progress!"
"A lot's happened to us in the last three months," Sero said. "Maybe he can throw it a whole mile now!"
"It'll be about the same," Lee said. "Most of his improvement was technical and creativity."
"I've got this," Bakugo grinned. "No one blink." He pulled his arm back. "GO TO HELL! ! !"
He threw it with a massive explosion, but as he finished the follow through, Aizawa held up a phone displaying a distance of seven hundred nine point six meters.
"That was seven-oh-nine point six meters," Aizawa informed him.
"That's it?" Sero asked. "Wow, you were right, Lee. He didn't get much stronger."
"You've had a single semester at U.A., and due to your various experiences, all of you have definitely improved," Aizawa said. "But those improvements have mostly been due to mental prowess and technical skill, Like Lee said, with a slight increase in stamina thrown in along the way. As you can see, your Quirks themselves have not improved much on a fundamental level. That's why we're now going to focus on improving your powers." Aizawa grinned wickedly. "This'll be so hard you'll feel like you're dying. Let's hope you all survive."
They followed him to the area they'd be training and were all split up to training their individual Quirks with a now complete set of Pussycats. The two new additions were a girl with long green hair, yellow clothes, an pink whiskers drawn on as well as pink around her right eye, and a massive behemoth of a man that was seven feet of solid, chisled muscle wearing the same type of outfit in dark maroon, including a skirt. After a couple of minutes, Aizawa showed Iida and Lee a map with a circular route drawn on it.
"This is the route the two of you will be running," Aizawa said. "Both of you need to push yourselves as fast as you can, but Lee, be careful not to burn yourself out again. We're not sure you'll be able to absorb Kaminari's electricity again next time."
Lee nodded and Aizawa walked away. Lee and Iida both nodded and took off, Lee keeping pace with Iida for a few seconds until Iida maxed out, then took off to his own full speed, electricity arcing from his eyes as he did. He shot through the forest in a blur, his eyes flicking around and his neural implant working at full capacity. Then, he shot through the training area, kicking up a massive cloud of dust and a massive wind that blew Bakugo away from his drum of boiling water by ten feet, and that blew Mineta and Aoyama both over even easier. He winced. He was definitely going to slow down next time. Then, he passed Iida. He slowed for the training area, then sped back up. he passed Iida again. Training area, Iida. The next time he met Iida, they were in the training area. Then, he took off again. He ran for hours, redirecting from his path around noon to swipe a slice of cake from where Sato and Momo were eating as much as they could while using their Quirks, Sato's working on sugar and Momo's off of fat cells.
Finally, as the sun was setting, they were gathered up and brought to a picnic area where supplies to cook their own food had been gathered. Once they had been told that they were cooking their own meals, everyone else deflated, but Lee shot forward, quickly putting a pot on each fire place and filling them with water. He was glad he and Amy had both learned to cook growing up. He stopped as Amy filled his thoughts before shaking his head. he sighed, kneeling in front of one of the fireplaces and rubbing a pair of sticks together for a moment to start a fire, then moving on to the next, then the next. Todoroki began to light the fireplaces with his Quirk and Lee stopped Bakugo from blowing one up. once they were all lit, the students began to group up at the fire places. Momo, Mina and Toru all walked over to Lee, who was calmly waiting for his water to boil.
"You know how to cook?" Mina asked.
"Yeah," Lee nodded. "Me and Amy were on our own growing up, so we took turns learning. I'm no as good as her, but I still know how."
"Can you teach me?" Momo asked, moving to the firepit beside him. "Me too!" Mina said, taking the one on his other side.
"And me!" Toru said, wrapping her arms around him.
He chuckled. "Sure. It's not too hard once you know how."
They spent a while cooking, with Lee ending up instructing most of the two classes. There were also some others who knew how, like Kendo for example, but most were helpless. Finally, a little while after the sun had gone down, they all finished and began to put the curry on plates. Lee tested Mina and Momo's, and while Momo had done well, Mina's was a bit undercooked, and way too spicy. He supposed that was to be expected, since her body was resistant to all things acidic or alkaline. All three girls tried his and squealed.
"It's so good!" They all cheered.
Lee chuckled, making each of them a plate and they all sat down together, eating quickly, though Lee and Momo were both eating faster than the others, minus Eijiro, who was stuffing his face as fast as he could.
"If I got this at a restaurant I'd send this crap back!" Eijiro said, even as he continued to eat. "but after today, I'll eat every bite!"
"Don't say that!" Sero scolded, also stuffing his face.
"Try this," Lee said, flashing to his pot and back just as Eijiro finished his plate.
Eijiro took a bit and began to cry happily, eating even faster. "Holy crap! This is amazing!"
"Thank you," Lee smiled, flashing back to it to refill his and Momo's plates.
"Wow, you're scarfing Momo!" Mina finally noticed as Lee handed Momo her second plate.
"Yes," Momo sighed. "My Quirk transforms lipids into brand new atoms to create inorganic materials. That means, the more I eat, the more I can make."
"Like how poop works," Sero said.
Momo's head fell as she hid her face in her hands instantly.
"Apologize!" Kyoka shouted, punching him from across the table.
"Okay!" Sero said. "I'm sorry!"
"Hey," Lee said, taking one of Momo's hands. "I think your poop Quirk is awesome."
Momo splashed her water on him but laughed. "You're such a jerk!"
Lee grinned as Momo began to eat again, returning to his own meal. After a little while, they'd finished all of the curry and had cleaned up then headed to bed. The next day, it was back to square one.
Lee sighed as he walked into the clearing. He was beat. He had gone a little overboard on using his Quirk, so he was hoping to not use it again until morning. Not that he couldn't. After eating as much as he had at dinner, he'd be perfectly fine if he had to, but he'd end up sore. He looked over at Mina and the others who failed the finals as they were dragged away by Aizawa. He sighed. Mina was definitely no enjoying her camping trip. The Pussycat in blue stepped forward to explain what they'd be doing.
"Alright so, Class B is going to start out as our scarers," she said. "When they'd in place, Class A will leave in pairs every three minutes. There are tags with your names on them at the far end of the route. Your goal is to collect those!"
"Revelry in the dark," Fumikage said, as he had earlier when they'd been told they'd be playing a game against the other class at night.
"Now, those who are scarers aren't allowed to make physical contact!" the Pussycat in blue continued. "Use your Quirks to terrify the others, got it?"
"The winners are...the creative students who make the most people piss their pants!" the male Pussycat, Tiger, said.
"Did we need that visual?" Kyoka asked.
"I see!" Iida said. "They're encouraging us to stoke our imaginations as we compete with each other all while showing us more uses for our Quirks in the process! As expected of U.A.!"
"Alright!" the blue Pussycat said, holding up lot slips with numbers on them. "Everyone draw to see who your partner will be!"
Everyone drew lots and split up accordingly. Lee wound up with Midoriya and sighed.
"Damn," Lee sighed. "I wanted to see what Fumikage did. He's going to win hands down. Oh well."
"So I'm with you, huh?" Midoriya asked.
"Yup," Lee said. "I'm sure we can figure out something."
"Aoyama!" Mineta groaned, stumbling toward him, jealousy rolling off of him in waves, since Aoyama was pared with Momo. "Please, switch me partners so I can be with her!"
Aoyama shook his head vigorously and Lee sighed, walking over to Momo, grinning.
"Feel like making him jealous?" Lee whispered.
"Think it'll make him leave me alone?" Momo asked.
"It might," Lee shrugged. "Probably for a little while tonight, at least."
Momo smiled, hugging him and kissing him on the cheek. "How are you holding up?"
"I'm fine as long as I don't think about it," Lee said, instantly knowing she meant Amy. He glanced to the side where Mineta was running back to Koda, who he got paired with, crying dramatically. "What do you know? It actually worked."
"Go figure," Momo said. "That was a little underhanded, though."
"He'll get over it," Lee said.
"Alright!" the blue Pussycat cheered. "First team!"
Fumikage and Shoji turned, walking away along the path. Lee frowned.
"I wonder what happens when Fumikage scares all the scarers," Lee said.
"Good question," Momo said.
After a few more minutes, it was Momo and Aoyama's turn and Lee wished them luck before they set off. Lee sighed, listening to the screams. The loudest among them were Toru's, with Kyoka as well from time to time. However, he could hear others as well. After a few more minutes, Uraraka and Su left on their turn.
"So, what do you think we'll be up against?" Midoriya asked.
"Nothing as scary as what we've already faces," Lee said.
"That's true," Midoriya nodded.
Just then, the blue Pussycat sniffed, muttering to herself.
"You see that?" Midoriya asked, pointing to the trees in the distance where there was a blue glow, black smoke rising above it.
"Black smoke," the blue Pussycat said.
"Has something been set ablaze?" Iida asked.
"Maybe a fire on the mountain?" Ojiro asked.
"That fire's blue," Lee said, stepping forward. "You can tell by the light. That's a Quirk. We're under attack."
Just then, the blue Pussycat suddenly shone pink, floating into the air before speeding backward to a pair of men off to the side of the clearing.
"Pixie-Bob!" the pink Pussycat shouted, just as one of the two smashed a large, rectangular object wrapped in cloth down on Pixie-Bob's head, knocking her out instantly, blood running out from under the object.
The one who incapacitated Pixie-Bob was a guy with an open, orange, button-up Tee-shirt over a white Tee-shirt red-lensed sunglasses, shoulder-length red hair parted down the middle, and blue jeans. The other was a lizard with a red scarf and white facemask like the Hero Killer Stain used to wear, purple hair, green scales, white tape around his arms from just above his elbows to forearm sleeves, a sleeveless white shirt with blue polka dots, black pants, and three blades visible, one horizontal on his waist with the handle on his left side, and two crossed on his back, the one whose handle was on his right being gigantic and wrapped in bandages and the other looking like a cleaver blade in a black sheath.
"First let's get rid of these feral cats," one of the two smirked.
"What?" Mineta said, backing away. "No way! I thought they made sure no one could find us! So why the heck are there villains attacking this place!?"
"Pixie-Bob!" Midoriya shouted, moving to run forward, only for Tiger and Mandalay, the red Pussycat, to step into his way.
"This is bad!" Mandalay said.
Midoriya looked around suddenly. "Where's Kota?"
"Everyone!" Mandalay's voice said urgently in Lee's mind. "Two villains attacked us! It's possible there are more! Everyone return to camp immediately! We're regrouping! Do not engage any enemies!"
"How are you this evening, U.A. High School?" the lizard asked, stepping forward. "We are part of the Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains!"
"The League of Villains?" Ojiro asked. "What are those guys doing here?"
"I could crush this kitty's head so easily," the one who had Pixie-Bob pinned said. "How about it, dears, should I?"
"You get away from her!" Tiger said.
"Calm yourself, Tiger," Lee said, stepping up beside him. "I'll get her."
"Now, now," the lizard said, stepping between everyone and raising his arms. "Hold on Big Sis Magne. You too Tiger, calm down. When deciding whether someone should live or die, we must be careful that we're abiding by Stain's principals."
"You talk too much, lizard," a voice said from the trees behind Magne and the lizard, a voice that instantly made Lee tremble.
The same calm villain who could move faster than Lee stepped out of the trees, fire flicking from his eyes. Lee activated his own Quirk, electricity arcing from his eyes, as the villain rocketed forward. He reached for Lee, but Lee knocked his hand aside, his left fist blurring before crashing into the villain's gut, flipping him and launching him away. The villain flipped, landing on his feet in a low crouch, his butt resting on his heels, hands spread in front of him, and feet on his toes and together under him as he skidded to a stop, eyes never leaving Lee. He stood slowly and smirked.
"Hello, Mach," the villain said. "It's been a while. Oh, I'm sorry, do you prefer Lee?"
"Where are the others?" Lee asked.
"They're going to say hello to that pretty girl who was so desperate to save you after the unfortunate accident during your final exams," the villain said. "I've had my eye on you ever since we met. You're quite interesting."
Lee's eyes widened as fear set in rapidly.
"That's right," the villain smirked. "Decisions, decisions. Stay here and fight the villain only you and All Might can handle in order to protect your class, or go and save your lovely, well-endowed friend and leave the children here to die. Of course, your other friend won't just die, if you decide to stay, but I'm sure you already know that. It's not like it'd be the first girl in your life you couldn't protect from us."
"Mandalay," Lee said. "Warn Momo Yaoyorozu that two of the villains that I fought during my internship are targeting her."
Mandalay passed the message, then paled. "She's already fighting them."
Lee swore loudly, trembling with the effort not to run to her aid.
The villain ahead of him smirked. "Time's up, wannabe hero. What's it gonna be?"
And then, he was off.
