Lee smiled as he leaned against the wall, having Legacy pull up all his memories of learning to play instruments, making sure they were fresh. He could play a lot of them, and was a fast enough study to be able to learn what he didn't. Basically everything but a bagpipe or accordion. However, he had agreed to be a dancer with Mina, after teaching Kaminari to play guitar. Aside from Kaminari volunteering to take guitar, Bakugo had, after Sero used reverse psychology, showed that he knew how to play drums, then made them all swear to put on the best performance of their lives. Momo had been chosen to play keyboard, on account of having been playing piano since she was a child. Kyoka herself had chosen base.
"I'm not sure this is enough to get the other courses excited," Iida said.
"Well, that's because we're missing the third part of any good concert," Lee said, looking to Mina knowingly as she grinned and twirled.
"We've gotta have special effects!" Mina cheered.
"Special effects?" Sero asked.
Mina instantly dove for her Momo's laptop, quickly typing on the keyboard before holding it up. "This is what I'm talking about."
The computer was showing an image of a band on stage.
"See?" Mina said. "They have sparks and streamers and a disco ball to fire everyone up! We've gotta be extra to set the right mood!"
"Oohh!" Toru squealed excitedly. "Let's pull out all the stops and make it look like an explosion of lights you guys!"
"Well of course!" Mina said. "We can totally do that!"
"Aoyama, think you can manage?" Lee asked. "I don't know anyone more capable of being flashy than you."
"That's perfect!" Mina squealed. "How's this for an idea!? Uraraka makes Kirishima and Todoroki float, and then, Kirishima chops away at Todoroki's ice and sends it flying! Then, Aoyama can be a mirror ball and the light twinkling off him and the ice will make it look like it's raining stardust! And-And we can call them 'Team Snowmen!'"
Mineta laughed. "A human-shaped ice machine!"
"It's like the team-ups we were talking about before!" Kaminari said, meaning Kamui Woods, Mt. Lady, and Edgeshot teaming up, sparking a discussion about who in the class should team up after becoming pros.
"You want moi to be a disco ball?" Aoyama asked, then smiled, holding a hand to his chin. "I was born to do this!"
"I can see it!" Momo smiled. "The gym will look spectacular!"
"Agreed, this is just what we all needed!" Iida said.
"That's another thing," Lee said. "We need to do it outside. As big as the gym is, it's too small. Everyone will be cramped and it'll get really hot, really fast. I'll ask Mister Aizawa permission myself."
"That's actually a really good point," Kyoka said.
"We'll need a team working backstage to pull this off, though," Toru said.
"I got it," Lee said, a second him stepping out of him, flickering.
"Whoa!" the others all said.
"There's too of you!" Toru gasped.
"That give me so many ideas!" Mina said. "Dancing with two of you would be so much fun!"
He rolled his eyes, knowing full well that dancing wasn't the first idea to pop into her head.
"It's just an after image," Lee said. "And it's only at close range. I'd have to move faster in order to be able to work backstage while still having a visible afterimage dancing. Except, to move at that speed, I have to use my electricity, which is insanely loud."
"Maybe there's a way to muffle the noise," Momo said. "That girl from the Support Course who's been working with Power Loader on costume alterations might be able to help."
"She'd put me in a full mechanized suit," Lee grimaced, then hummed thoughtfully. "Maybe my sister left something that can help."
"Ooo!" Mina suddenly gasped. "If you can find a way to get your lightning to be quiet, having blue lightning racing around the stage and stuff would be a great addition!"
"That's true," Toru agreed.
"Hey you guys," Eijiro said as he and the other three missing students finally walked in.
"Sorry we're showing up so late," Midoriya said.
"We finally finished making up the classes we missed during our work studies," Uraraka said. "Now we can help out for real."
Su simply ribbitted tiredly, only Midoriya not seeming exhausted. They quickly began to fill the four of them in on the plan so far, as well as the idea about Todoroki's ice.
"I see, so we've decided to go with rave-rock-club music for our performance," Su said after they'd finished explaining.
"Having Jiro on the base and Yaoyorozu on keyboard makes sense for sure, but..." Eijiro trailed off.
"Bakugo on the drums is kind of...uh...how do I put it..." Uraraka trailed off.
"Shocking?" Toru offered teasingly.
"You got a problem with me!?" Bakugo snapped, Su, Uraraka, and Eijiro all shaking their heads instantly.
"Question," Su said. "Who'll be singing? Isn't that the most important thing?"
"We haven't figured that part out yet," Kyoka said.
"Huh?" Uraraka asked. "Doesn't it have to be you Jiro?"
Kyoka's eyes widened in surprise.
"Lead singers get all the chicks!" Mineta said suddenly. "I can do it."
"Just imagine a singing disco ball!" Aoyama said. "Se magnific!"
"Guys," Eijiro said, pointing at himself with his thumbs. "Not to brag, but I'm a pretty awesome singer!" He bent to his left, suddenly holding a microphone. "Tough guy, captain of this ship, stand up tall! Cause you...are...the manliest!"
"Yeah, that's not the right genre," Uraraka said.
Mineta swiped the microphone, suddenly screeching like a howler monkey into it.
"And that's just yelling," Uraraka said as Lee took the microphone from Mineta, chopping him lightly on the head.
Aoyama began to try to sing opera, but his voice was a little hoarse.
"Oh boy," Toru said. "I'm with Ochaco. It's gotta be you Jiro! When you were teaching us how to play instruments in your room your singing was super cool! I know you'll bring the house down!"
"Come on," Kyoka said. "It wasn't that great. Maybe we-"
"Hey look, a mic!" Toru said, swiping the microphone from Lee and putting it on a stand, holding it in front of Kyoka.
Lee nudged Kaminari who swallowed hard.
"Come on Jiro," Kaminari said. "Please? I think you'll be great!"
Kyoka's cheeks flushed pink, but she accepted the microphone and its stand.
"We just laid our souls bare for them and they're ignoring us?" Mineta asked.
"You weren't even signing," Lee said. "And you were outvoted."
"But can Jiro really be that good?" Mineta asked. "Ugh. I mean, come on!"
"Don't be shy, show us those pipes!" Eijiro cheered. "We wanna hear you sing something!"
Kyoka hesitated before taking a breath, then began to sing in arguably the most beautiful singing voice Lee had ever heard.
"You know everyone,
wants to sparkle~
like the stars in the night sky~."
Lee glanced at Kaminari, seeing him staring in open-mouthed awe. Lee grinned. Golden opportunity.
"In this wonderous place,
filled with aaaaaall the dreams,
I've been wiiishing for,
waiting foooor the chaaaaaance~."
She opened her eyes and looked up as everyone began to cheer.
"My ears are so happy!" Toru cheered.
"That's such a sultry voice!" Mina gushed.
"I told you!" Toru cheered.
Lee nudged Kaminari, who swallowed hard.
"You sounded really beautiful, Jiro," Kaminari said, blushing slightly.
Kyoka's face darkened. "Kaminari..."
"All right!" Iida smiled. "I call this a unanimous decision!"
"Well, let's set that aside then," Kyoka said, still blushing before regaining her composure. "Okay, so we have Kaminari as one guitar, but I'm thinking we could use another."
"Lee can play guitar!" Mina grinned.
"I thought you wanted me dancing," Lee said.
"Oh yeah!" Mina laughed.
"I volunteer!" Mineta shouted, grabbing a guitar, once again from God knows where, just like first the mic, and then its stand. When Mineta reached for the strings, however, his arms were too small to reach. Finally, he threw it down, sobbing dramatically. "My fingers won't reach because of my character design!"
"Well, I wanna be on the dance crew!" Sato said.
"Me too!" Ojiro agreed. "I can move pretty well with my tail."
"And I can use my tape to help with the special effects!" Sero said, just as someone began to play.
Everyone turned, watching as Fumikage played, and extremely well, at that. Honestly, Lee wasn't overly surprised. He definitely seemed the type.
"It's like that riff is speaking directly to my heart," Eijiro said dramatically.
"You can play?" Shoji asked. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"I put down the axe when I was bested by the F chord," Fumikage said, turning. "Mineta, if you can't play for yourself, then I will strum for you as well."
"Do whatever you want, dammit!" Mineta snapped. "This is so stupid! Let's just get this festival over with! I hope all your nails break off!"
"Mineta, would you be part of the dance team if I can get a harem together?" Mina asked sweetly, Mineta instantly cheering up.
"This school festival can't come soon enough!" Mineta breathed.
Finally, just past one in the morning, the groups had finally been finished. The band consisted of Kyoka as the singer and bassist, Momo on keyboard, Fumikage and Kaminari both on electric guitar, with Lee promising to help Fumikage with the F chord and teach Kaminari to play in entirety, and Bakugo as the drummer. The special effects team consisted of Kota, Eijiro, Sero, Todoroki, Aoyama, and possibly Lee if he could find a way to silence his electricity without hiding it. And the dance team was Mina, Lee, Uraraka, Midoriya, Su, Mineta, Shoji, Ojiro, Toru, Iida, Sato, and Aoyama. Once everyone had agreed about their roles, everyone decided to turn in for the night.
