Training

Lee watched the smoke in silence for a long few seconds. They were doing an emergency drill in Training Ground Beta, in this case, a villain attack with a collapsed, burning building. Koda had birds scouting the destruction for victims or anyone needing help, Shoji had used his tentacles to get a look at the building, telling them which way the disaster was, and Jiro had used her gloves to amplify her quirk in order to tell him which way to look. Once they'd all done that, Lee had raced off, as per Iida's orders to first get a look at the building and save anyone he could right away, then to search for villains, all the while keeping everyone up to date about what was happening.

"No victims in sight near the building," Lee said. "You're going to need a lot of water for the fire, or Todoroki."

"Alright," Iida said. "Switch to searching for villains."

"Copy," Lee said, turning and streaking down his building, racing around and around Training Ground Beta, only to find nothing.

As he skidded to a stop on another building, an explosion blasted Todoroki's ice, renewing the fire. Mina, floating and being whipped around in the air over the fire by a combination of Uraraka and Sero's quirks, scattered acid around the fire to stop it spreading. Then, Aoyama blasted the collapsed building to finish its collapse onto the flames, trapping them. Then, Todoroki froze them again, this time making the ice formation tower over the skyscrapers around it. However, a moment later, spiraling waves of golden energy began to blow Mina around, as well as blasting the group below her backward, the group including Midoriya, Momo, Ojiro, Uraraka, and Sero.

"Hey, hey, there are still villains to deal with!" Hado said, holding the end of he tape now wrapped around Mina. "Do you guys remember me? I'm a villain today! Did you know that?"

"I see," Lee said, smirking as the back of his suit extended the newest extra Legacy had managed to program it to form.

He leapt off of the building just flames the same color as his electricity shot out of the small, angled jetpack and the bottom of his boots. He exploded forward, flying slightly slower than Hawks could, but more than fast enough to reach Hado in seconds. As she spun, firing at him but missing by inches as he swung his left foot up to the side to redirect himself out of the attack's way, Amajiki stepped into view behind the rest of the group, announcing himself as another villain.

"Everyone!" Lee called down to them. "Forty five!"

"Right!" Midoriya called back.

"Mina!" Lee ordered.

"Right!" Mina agreed, instantly melting herself free of Sero's tape.

Lee caught her and dropped, using his boots' thrusters to catch himself just above the ground before landing lightly and setting Mina down. Then, he exploded into movement, streaking up a skyscraper, Hado's attempt to blast him hitting the building below him. Lee exploded off of the building, returning to flying with his jetpack and boot thrusters, streaking around through the air, repeatedly avoiding Hado's energy blasts. Finally, he closed in, flipping himself over a massive blast, then slammed an axe kick into her crossed arm. She shot downward, but only a few meters before stopping, turning to Lee, who stood on the edge of a building now.

"You're fast," Hado smirked, holding her arms out. "This is gonna be tough!"

"Do it," Lee said.

Suddenly, Toru shone blindingly from Lee's side, his suit blocking out the excess light, but leaving Hado blind. A second later, Sero bound her in tape and swung her down into range of Momo's net cannon. A second later, she was pinned against Todoroki's ice. Lee swept Toru into his arms and flew to the ground where Ojiro and Midoriya were fighting Amajiki, who had bird wings and fee, a clam for a left hand, and tentacles for his right hand's fingers. Lee set Toru on her feet but waited to go help them fight. Amajiki wasn't fast enough to fight him. Hado could if she was careful, but it was always Mirio who had been the best equipped to deal with him.

Amajiki caught Ojiro, but when Midoriya went to finish the fight, he stopped at the las second, unable to bring himself to hit Amajiki. "Not following through can be fatal." He slammed a wing into Midoriya, then a kick, hurling him backward.

Uraraka glanced at Lee. "What are you doing? Aren't you going to help?"

"In a minute," Lee said. "What's the point of doing training if I just clear all the obstacles the whole way?"

"Lee!" Iida shouted suddenly. "Get to the river!"

Lee turned and shot down the road, streaking through the city to the river, then streaking across it, taking Mirio out of the water as he passed and skidding to a stop beside Iida, Todoroki, and Tokoyami. "Hello again, Mirio."

"Wow, I forget just how fast you are!" Mirio laughed. "Running on water! Nice!"

"Thanks," Lee smiled. "Momo, how's the fight going?"

"It's done," Momo said. "Bakugo, Red Riot, and Chargebolt showed up and Bakugo took him down in about a second."

"Got it," Lee said. "Sounds like we finished our drill."

Just then, the principal began to announce the same, everyone cheering. However, they stopped as a massive explosion erupted from the city. Everyone groaned. Bakugo wanted a better fight. They all sighed, heading back toward the school together, finding the others on the way, all singed but unharmed, including Amajiki, fortunately.

Lee smiled, shaking his head as Toru cheered, hugging him. It had taken a very, very long time, and a lot of hard work, but they'd finally made Toru a costume, just in time for the first cold front of the winter. Mirio's own costume had given Lee the idea for Toru's, specifically, using Toru's hair to make the costume. It retained her invisibility, but now she was actually dressed and wouldn't catch frostbite. He'd let her have the decisions about how it should be cut, but the color was non-negotiable, since any dyes or ink used to change the color would be visible. As a result, her entire costume was the same color as her hair and reached high on her neck, ended about a quarter of the way down her upper arms, and on the bottom covered about as much as her panties did. Additionally, it had a diamond-shaped window cut out over her breasts to expose her cleavage, and the entire costume was skin-tight. Lee loved it, even more so given that when Toru to showed him the design, she'd told him that she designed it to be as fun to look at as her normal costume and also to be easy access if the opportunity came up for them to have some fun alone but either not enough time or not enough patience to take it off. As she walked into the training area with it on, he recalled her reason for the design and laughed. She was sill shy about doing anything with Mina, and still acted innocent and shy even around him most of the time, but once in a while, she'd say something like that and prove Mina was right. Toru was more of a nymphomaniac than even Mina, who would literally be ready any time Lee wanted.

"What are you laughing at?" Mina asked, Lee handing her a set of glasses he'd had Legacy design and Momo create to allow the wearer to see Toru in case of emergencies.

Mina pulled them on and looked at Toru, then froze, gaping. "Holy shit! Toru! You look..."

"What?" Toru asked. "Is it bad?"

"Is it bad!?" Mina scoffed. "Toru, you're fucking beautiful! You look like a model!"

Toru blushed bright pink, everyone staring at the boots and gloves they could see of Toru, Mineta drooling and staring at Mina's glasses.

"Thank you!" Toru beamed, despite her embarrassed blush.

"And your costume looks amazing!" Mina grinned, her voice innocent but her eyes and grin shining with impure thoughts and intentions, making Toru's face go scarlet.

Mina handed the glasses back and Lee chuckled, putting the glasses on top of his head where his helmet would protect them.

"She designed it for fun," Lee whispered, Toru running over and greeting them both with a kiss. "You look fantastic, Toru."

"I'm confused," Jiro finally said.

"Lee's been making Toru a costume using some of Toru's hair, like Mirio Togata's costume," Momo explained, taking the glasses and putting them on, smiling appreciatively and nodding. "Wow, Mina's understating it. You're gorgeous, Toru."

"I wanna see!" Uraraka shouted, she, Jiro, Mineta, and Kaminari all lunging for the glasses, only for Lee to streak off to the side with both the glasses and Mineta, stopping him from "accidentally" grabbing Momo's breast instead of the glasses.

"No one's using these before training," Lee said. "After training, maybe, if Toru agrees."

"Look at all of you, relaxed and full of yourselves as always," a cocky, derisive voice cut through the air.

"And cue the unwanted interruption," Lee said, putting the glasses back on his head and setting Mineta down as everyone turned toward their competition.

"There you are!" Kirishima grinned, punching his left hand into his right palm. "We've been looking forward to this!"

"Is that so?" the voice asked, a cloud of dust being blown between them by the wind, obscuring the competition into silhouettes, coincidentally adding dramatic effect. "I'm not sure why. There's no way you stand a chance against us in this exercise. COME ON CLASS A! ! ! LET'S SEE WHO'S BEST ONCE AND FOR ALL! ! !"

Lee rolled his eyes. "Needlessly dramatic as always, Monoma."

The dust cleared between the two Hero Course classes.

"Besides, didn't you say your School Festival would beat ours?" Lee challenged.

"Yeah, and then we did a concert and Jiro's singing totally blew your lame play out of the water!" Kaminari grinned, putting his arm around Jiro, who blushed and rolled her eyes, calling him an idiot but leaning into his side.

"They have a point," Kendo admitted. "That concert was awesome! Plus, we don't have anyone who can beat Lee."

"We will once I copy his Quirk," Monoma grinned.

"Don't you fucking dare!" Lee snapped. "You would literally kill yourself using it!"

"He's right, Monoma," Kirishima said. "Even if you used my quirk to protect yourself physically, the quirk would rip you apart. His Quirk's just too much."

"Oh, by the way, we won at the festival," Monoma said, then held up a survey, cackling. "I took it at the School Festival, asking people which was better, Class A's attempt at being rock stars or Class B's play! What's this? We won by two votes?"

"Kendo, which would you vote for?" Lee asked.

"Definitely the concert," Kendo smiled. "You guys were great!"

"Yeah, same!" Pony, an American girl standing behind Kendo agreed.

"Manga?" Lee asked, talking to a kid in the back whose head was a speech bubble like in his namesake type of reading material.

"Concert," Manga agreed.

"We win," Lee smirked.

Monoma shrieked in outrage as Class A cheered.

"That's enough!" Aizawa snapped.

"Today, there will be a special participant," Vlad King announced.

"Just try not to embarrass yourselves, if at all possible," Aizawa said.

"Who's going to be joining us?" Momo asked.

"I'll murder 'em!" Bakugo grinned.

"Is it a ba-pro?" Kaminari asked, catching himself at the last second, though Jiro still glared at him.

"We'll do our best, whoever it is!" Tetsutesu and Kirishima both grinned.

"This person is interested in switching to the hero track," Aizawa said, just as Shinso walked over, wearing a cloth around his neck like Aizawa. "From General Studies Class C, Hitoshi Shinso.

"Hey, Shinso!" Lee grinned. "Nice to see you again! How've you been?"

"Fine," Shinso said disinterestedly. "How have you been?"

Lee raised an eyebrow, and Shinso rolled his eyes. "I'm not using it right now; you have my word on my dream of being a pro."

"Fair enough," Lee nodded. "I'm good. Glad you get to do tryouts."

"Well, Shinso?" Aizawa asked. "Why don't you say a few words?"

Shinso stared at them all in silence for a long few seconds. "I'm Hitoshi Shinso. I already faced some of you at the Sports Festival, but we're not friends just because we fought before. I don't subscribe to that sort of sportsmanship. We're still competing to be the best, and I'm already countless steps behind. I need to prove myself. One day, I will become a proper hero. Then, I can use my power to help citizens in need. All of you are hurdles I must overcome. I'm not here in search of friends. Thanks for having me."

The classes began to clap politely, and Lee grinned.

"So, looks like Class B just found someone to counter me," Lee said. "This just got a whole lot more interesting."

Monoma grinned wickedly before Vlad began to explain the training exercise. A battle between Class A and Class B. They'd compete in teams of four, but with Lee and Shinso making the count forty-two, they were going to have two of the matches be either five on four, or one of five on five. In each fight, including the one including the extra members, four members of one side or the other being captured would mean defeat. In order to capture the member, they had to put them in their cage, which was designed with a cardboard cu out of Principal Nezu's head and arms on it. Finally, the two teachers held up a box of lots. After a few seconds, the Teams had been decided. By a stroke of luck for everyone, Shinso and Lee had both pulled out he number five. Lee's teammates were Midoriya, Uraraka, Mina, and Mineta. On Shinso's side were Monoma, a girl with silver hair hanging about chin-length and parted over her right eye with a white kimono over a tight black top that reached up to include a black, cloth, half-mask, a short, plump boy with his silver hair combed back neatly, a black body suit outlining where muscles would be, blue on the back of the right hand, an earpiece on the left side of his head that completely covered his ear and had a blue screen in front of his eye, and white boots, and a girl with shoulder-length black hair, and a black and white hero costume with red tights under a white skirt, and a red baseball hat with a white fin running front to back on top.

Lee smirked. "Welcome to your starting line, Shinso."

"Thank you," Shinso said. "Don't destroy us too soon."

"Don't worry," Lee said. "I can't use my full speed or my lightning against any of you. I'm not looking to put anyone in the hospital. Or the Nurse's office."

Shinso nodded.

Everyone not going first gathered to watch the fight, Midnight and All Might joining them. And then, the round began. Round one went to Class B by a land slide, due to them underestimating an opponent who could increase his physical power. They might have been able to deal with him if Kirishima had been able to draw him into a head-to-head fight, but the opponent hurled him to the girl with vines for hair, who restrained him. After that, he quickly mopped up the other three as well. During the second round, the fight was close. It came down to a difference in intel on the other team and a difference in planning by Kendo and Momo. In the end, the victory went to Class B on account of only one factor. A girl on Class B's team, Komori, used her Quirk, Mushroom, to spread mushrooms around the training area. However, this was both an indirect attack and a misdirection, as when Tokoyami had captured her and a teammate of hers, Kuroiro, who could travel through darkness and started the battle by possessing Dark Shadow, Komori grew the fungus schizophyllum commune inside of Tokoyami's throat, causing him to lose the ability to breathe, stopping him from acting. Then, Kendo captured Toru after beating Momo in a direct battle, winning the match. Had Momo known to give Tokoyami a gas mask, the battle would have gone to Class A.

The third round was a shock. Firstly, Iida revealed that he could use Recipro Turbo, an upgraded Recipro Burst, to move a Lee's base, non-electrified speed for ten minutes. Unlike Lee, however, his perception of the world around him had also sped up, causing him to speak extremely fast as well. Secondly, Todoroki used his flames to nearly match his father's power, only to be stopped from attacking Tetsutetsu with them by the kid who could liquify things, whose hero name was Mudman. However, Iida arrived to knock Mudman out and take an unconscious Todoroki to safety, only for Mudman and Tetsutetsu to knock over a massive, liquified silo, managing to trap Iida before passing out. That, after one from each side was put in jail, left Shoji and Pony, who could fire and telekinetically control the horns on her head, as the last two. However, before Shoji could stop her, she took everyone unconscious into the sky and waited for the timer to run out, earning a draw. Round four was both a shock and predictable. As Lee predicted, Bakugo's team didn't lose the upper hand once thanks to Bakugo. Contrary to his predictions, and shockingly enough to make Monoma have a mental breakdown, the reason was because Class A's team worked together flawlessly. Each time one of the other three was in danger, Bakugo saved them. Each Time Bakugo was struggling, one of the others came to his rescue. It was a flawless victory.

And finally, it was time for round five. Lee walked over to his team, glancing at their competition, mainly Shinso.

"This is going to be tough," Lee said. "I'm staying away from Monoma, because I don't think he believed us when we warned him not to steal my Quirk. If he does, I'm leaving the battlefield to get him to the nurse, assuming he survives the first activation."

The others nodded seriously.

"I think they might try to fight from a distance, too," Midoriya said. "And they'll probably try to control you with Shinso's power."

"Maybe," Lee said. "I'll try and deal with them all before they have the chance to do anything, but it's going to be close."

The others nodded.

"In the meantime, Midoriya, you're in charge of planning," Lee said. "And for the sake of a functional one, come up with a second that includes me being controlled."

Midoriya nodded, beginning to think. A few minutes later, as they took their positions, the plans were set.

"You said your Quirk was acting up, right?" Lee asked.

"Yeah," Midoriya nodded. "But I think it's fine now."

"Even so, you're going to be their number two target because of Bakugo's performance," Lee said. "I will be because of my speed. If you notice anything happening that's strange with your Quirk, surrender. If necessary, I'll knock you out to shut it off." He deployed his suit, including the jetpack, gloves, and helmet. "It's not personal, but it's going to hurt."

Midoriya nodded. "That's probably for the best. In the meantime, try to stick to the plan."

Lee nodded just as the buzzer announced the start of the match. Lee sped off, as per the plan, staying ahead of Midoriya, but close enough to be in sight. After a couple of minutes, Midoriya stopped, glancing back at he others, who were running below him.

"Lee, slow down for a second!" Midoriya called, still looking back.

Lee skidded to a stop on a platform. "What's up?"

Instantly, he realized his mistake. His body locked up, his eyes went wide, then glassed over, and he found himself unable to move.
