Too Late
Lee narrowed his eyes, shifting agitatedly as he and the other assembled heroes waited. All of them had gathered, literally hundreds of heroes, in order to assault the hospital where a Quirkless doctor was manufacturing Nomu in secret. Unlike the rest of his class, with one exception, he was placed on the frontlines for the assault while the rest of the class was assisting weaker heroes in evacuating. All except Kaminari, who was also placed on the frontlines. To his left stood Rumi, and to his right was Endeavor, but his mind was scrambled by worry for Momo, Mina, and Toru.
"They'll be fine," Rumi said, resting a hand on his shoulder. "Listen to me. If there really are Nomu here, you need to be focused on the here and now."
"At least Instant and his team of psychopaths won't be interrupting this time," Lee said. "Nomu don't worry me."
Rumi nodded. "It'll be okay."
Lee nodded just as they were finally cleared to enter the hospital. A moment later, they burst through the door and the undercover operative they had in the hospital began to lead Endeavor and Tsukauchi, as well as a few others, away. As they did, Lee and Rumi, as the fastest, streaked through the hospital toward the morgue. Lee shouldered through the door into the morgue itself, then stepped out of the way, allowing Rumi to dropkick the secured door they had to get through, blasting it free of its frame. However, as the pair of them raced down the hallway, their communicators crackled.
"Mirko!" Endeavor's voice shouted in warning. "Mach!"
"Endeavor!" Rumi shouted, grinning excitedly. "We got company!"
Nomu began to swarm into the hallway ahead of them of all shapes and sizes. Some were so grotesquely inflated that they were hunched over, some looked partly like animals, some scrambled across the ground, others hopped, others crawling the walls. And somewhere in the distance, they heard a crash before the doctor's voice began to gloat about them not recognizing a replication of someone. Together, he and Rumi shot forward, Rumi flipping into a series of cartwheels, slamming devastating kicks into the Nomu that slaughtered any she struck. At her side, Lee punched, chopped, kicked, or otherwise attacked any within reach with just as much force and just as lethal results as Rumi. In under a second, they'd cleared the hallway and Rumi exploded through a massive set of double doors, one of which crushed a tiny Nomu on the other side before both skidded to a stop glaring at the real doctor. As the doctor screamed in dismay and sobbed at the loss of the tiny Nomu, the second door exploded into a tank with a large, black-skinned Nomu inside, shattering the tank and crushing the Nomu with the force of the impact, the doctor once again screaming in dismay and grief.
"We've found the doctor," Lee notified the rest of the heroes.
"And a bunch of tough-looking Nomu!" Rumi grinned. "Dunno, but a good kick should tell me."
"Capture him," Endeavor ordered. "I wish I could say we're right behind you, but...it might take us a minute."
"It's fine," Lee said. "With you as an exception, none of the others here could catch us anyway."
Rumi snorted. "So Nomu or doctor first?"
"Him," Lee said. "But first, to make sure he's real."
He shot forward, only to spin as movement caught his eye, only to find a second tiny Nomu that was partially transformed into a second doctor. Except, before it could, Rumi's foot exploded into it, sending it exploding across the room.
"A true miracle," the doctor said, sounding close to tears. "Using your Quirk...without even being told to. And you did it...to protect me. Little Mocha...your courage...wasn't for nothing!" He pressed a switch on a remote he'd pulled from his robe and the tanks containing the rest of the large, black Nomu exploded, the Nomu charging instantly.
Rumi managed to kick a head at the end of one's arm, obliterating the head, only for another's hand to flash toward her head. Then, Lee flipped, his foot flashing down through the arm, severing it at the elbow and allowing Rumi to escape harm. Both the damaged Nomu immediately regenerated, however, as Lee and Rumi fell back.
"This is going to be trouble," Lee growled, readying himself as Rumi did the same.
"We can handle it," Rumi said.
"He...ro!" one of the Nomu, a female, said.
"Been...so long!" another said.
"Can go wild," another said.
"Kill...them all!" one said. "Let's go nuts!"
Just then, Crust, who'd followed them into the morgue but rapidly fell behind, ran in just in time for a Nomu to charge him.
"I'm not sure about your rank, but I know you're Crust!" the Nomu shouted, leaping at him.
"Correct!" Crust said. "How very astute of you!"
Lee glanced at the doctor as he fled, then returned his attention to the Nomu in time to avoid a slap from the same one who'd nearly hit Rumi, he and Rumi both rocketing into battle. One of them with a metal head leapt backward as one with what looked like a ponytail sent it at Rumi as multiple massive spikes. Rumi avoided them as the one who'd tried to put distance between them began to raise his arm.
"Electro Cannon!" Lee roared, a massive bolt of electricity exploding from his palm and punching completely through the female that had attacked him before in order to blast the one with the metal head.
The metal attracted the bolt, then was erased along with the head itself, the Nomu crashing to the ground.
"No ranged fighters, thank you!" Lee said, exploding out of the way of a swipe by one that looked something like a demented elephant.
Then, he exploded back the other way using his right boot, his right arm blurring below the elbow before exploding into its side. The force of the hundreds of instantaneous punches blasted a hole through the Nomu, sending it exploding across the room as Rumi slammed an axe kick down onto the one she'd been heading for. The female moved to strike at Rumi again, only for Rumi to spin in a kick that was so fast even Lee nearly missed it, taking the front half of her head off. Lee exploded past her to one that looked inflated like a balloon with its ribs sticking out, grabbing it by the face and instantly running his electricity through it at its maximum amps, the entire Nomu charring in seconds. He spun as one with what looked like a huge, flat-topped horn from the back of its head swiped at Rumi, missing by inches. He narrowed his eyes, watching her struggle against the three Nomu who remained. The one with the hair spikes had survived, as had the female that Rumi had kicked the front half of the head from. However, as Rumi struggled to fight them, she couldn't land a single blow. They were avoiding her strikes flawlessly, their eyes wide now, instead of narrowed, as though they hadn't been fully awake before.
"Mirko, get to the doctor!" Lee ordered, electricity screaming over his body.
Rumi complied instantly, and Lee exploded after her as the three Nomu moved to stop her. The one with the horn tried to catch her by the hair, the female moved to bite her leg, and the one with the hair spikes sent several after Rumi. Lee got between them and jumped, his left boot's thruster flipping him in a circle and allowing him to smash his heel through the spikes, the horned one's forearm, and into the female's head, stopping all three attacks, though all three survived. However, just as he exploded forward into the one with the horn, Endeavor exploded into the female. However, the last one's spikes exploded down the hallway Rumi had gone, and a split second later, they yanked Rumi back, slamming her into Lee with enough force to hurl him. He flipped, landing on his feet and catching her, seeing a puncture wound through her right lower leg, her abdomen, and her left thigh.
"You okay?" Lee asked.
"I'll live!" Rumi said. "But you need to get in there! Shigaraki's in there! He can't be allowed to wake up!"
Suddenly, several spikes exploded into Lee's suit, hurling him as the female fell at Rumi, jaws open wide. Then, Endeavor exploded into its side, sending it exploding into the wall before more heroes arrived, including Present Mic, Aizawa, and Crust. Lee rocketed back to Rumi and picked her up, then turned and hurled Rumi to Present Mic and Crust, forcing them to catch her.
"Bandage her wounds!" Lee ordered, then spun, slamming a sweeping roundhouse kick into several of his opponent's spikes, shattering them.
"Endeavor, now!" Aizawa shouted. "I've erased her Quirks!"
Lee glanced at them, only for the female Nomu to evade Endeavor's punch, then dart out of sight in under a second. Lee turned back to his own target, the only one currently blocking him from going after Shigaraki, and exploded forward. It began to send its ponytail thing at him as a trio of spikes yet again, but Lee had run out of patience. His electricity screamed over his body once again and he leapt forward, using his jetpack and boots to increase his speed still further before slamming a Lariat into the Nomu's neck. Its head sailed into the air instantly, and Lee landed at a sprint. Finally, he reached the room Rumi had left before seeing a stasis tank split down the front and rapidly leaking. Then, he drilled his fist into it.
"Burn mother fucker!" Lee snarled. "Hydroelectric grenade!"
He spiked his electricity to its maximum output again, with a much more decisive result. If done to water, the amount of volts and amps he could generate in an instant by spiking his power, as he'd learned from experience with his training with Rumi, could instantly vaporize a moderate-sized swimming pool, causing an explosion equivalent from the sudden expansion of the molecules. The substance inside the tank was harder to vaporize than water, but with his power, the result was enough. The tank exploded, the blast hurling the doctor into the wall and rendering him unconscious while sending Lee flying backward down the hallway. He bounced once before flipping and skidding on his feet, stopping back at the entrance just as Ryukyu, who'd arrived with the rest of the heroes in the raid, grabbed the last Nomu by the throat, allowing Endeavor to incinerate its head. Lee stared back down the hallway. He'd passed Present Mic and another hero named X-Less, who could fire a laser from his right eye. He stood, looking around and spotting Rumi off to the side with several other heroes. She nodded to him, and he returned it before turning back to the front.
"I'm going-" he stopped as a rumbling began just as Present Mic arrived with the doctor.
Present Mic turned to stare just as the floor, walls, and ceiling began to pale and crack, then disintegrate down the tunnel, spreading toward them rapidly. Lee exploded into motion just as Rumi, also sensing danger, ordered a retreat. Lee shot toward Present Mic and the doctor from the side, then jumped, activating his jetpack and boots before grabbing Present Mic by the back of his shirt and exploding away from where the destruction was still spreading. And it was also spreading to things Shigaraki hadn't touched, like the small tanks on the shelves surrounding the site of the now-finished battle. All of the heroes recognized this as they fled. Shigaraki's Quirk had evolved. Lee glanced back as he flew. Ryukyu was carrying as many heroes as she could stand, as was Gran Torino and Endeavor. Others were fleeing on foot. Any who fell were immediately hauled to their feet and shoved back into a sprint, but many had already vanished, leaving no trace. Aizawa moved to use his scarf to pull himself onto Ryukyu, but the female Nomu caught his leg. However, instantly, a saw blade made of Crust's shields severed the arm. Lee and Aizawa both looked to Crust, only to watch as what remained of his body, from about the navel up, broke apart and disintegrated, Crust smiling confidently and flashing Aizawa a thumbs up to the very end. As Lee was passing Rumi, he let go of Present Mic with one arm, scooping Rumi up instead.
"You had us beat," the doctor said. "All your work and progress was building toward this, today. But now, we witness a miracle, or something even greater. Plus Ultra. Shigaraki has awakened! All that you heroes have built, he will undo upon waking! VICTORY IS OURS! ! !"
Finally, they exploded out of a tunnel into the main hospital, which was actively collapsing all at once. Lee pushed his implant to its limits, watching everything slow to a crawl, even him, and looked around frantically. Finally, with Legacy's help with calculations and physics, he found a safe path they could all fit through and rocketed toward it, slipping out through a gap in the crumbling building with millimeters to spare before stopping to hover, watching as a third of the city disintegrated. Finally, it stopped and Lee flew to the safe zone around the destruction, dropping his charges off with Midoriya, Todoroki, Bakugo, and Lee's three girlfriends, who all flung their arms around him, kissing him.
"We were so scared!" Mina sobbed.
"We thought we'd lost you!" Momo cried.
"Please don't go back!" Toru begged.
"I'm sorry," Lee said. "I have to."
"ATTENTION ALL! ! !" Endeavor's voice roared from their communicators. "ENDEAVOR HERE! ! ! I'VE ENGAGED SHIGARAKI AT THE HOSPITAL RUINS! ! ! ANYONE WHO CAN MOVE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GROUND NEEDS TO FORM A PERIMETER! ! !"
Lee pulled back, taking a moment to kiss each of his girls, then hug Rumi, then turned, rocketing back toward Endeavor and Shigaraki.
"One...For...All?" Endeavor muttered as Lee was nearing the fight.
"Focus, Endeavor!" Lee shouted, then flipped, slamming a kick into Shigaraki, sending him exploding away. However, Shigaraki flipped, slamming his feet into the ground before jumping, streaking past Lee.
"Shit!" Lee swore. "What the fuck was that!?"
"I don't know!" Endeavor said as they both rocketed after Shigaraki, Endeavor warning the perimeter Shigaraki was coming. "He used a Quirk to send a blast of some kind out of his palm."
"All For One!" Lee snarled. "He's got All For One!"
Endeavor's eyes widened before he nodded. "Do we know how exactly the theft of a power works?"
"Touch," Lee said. "A hole in his palm. Assume it's instantaneous."
Endeavor nodded just before Lee rocketed ahead of him, quickly gaining on Shigaraki, who was beginning to lose momentum. However, he landed and jumped again, only for Lee to drill a blurred fist down into his back, sending him exploding directly into the ground.
"You're in my way!" Shigaraki shouted, his right arm snapping upward.
Thanks to Legacy, and only that, Lee saw the blast of compressed air he fired as a blur, managing to slip past it. However, as he did, Shigaraki jumped, his right arm compressing like a spring. Lee swore harshly and crossed his arms just before Shigaraki's fist exploded into his arms. He shot away from Shigaraki, streaking high into the air before managing to stop himself, relieved that Shigaraki hadn't simply disintegrated him. Then, Shigaraki was off again, heading southwest this time. Lee narrowed his eyes and shot after him. Before he could catch Shigaraki, Shigaraki caught up to both Midoriya and Bakugo, only for Gran Torino to yank them out of the way. Then, Lee's fist exploded into Shigaraki's jaw, sending him exploding into the ground at an angle, bouncing him. As Lee arced around to pursue him, Ryukyu raced in to attack. Shigaraki flipped, reaching out, only for nothing to happen as he touched her hand. Then, she had sent him airborne as Aizawa spoke from below.
"Don't you dare lay a rotten finger on my students!" Aizawa snarled.
"You really are pretty cool, Eraser Head," Shigaraki smirked.
Then, Lee's blurred axe kick sent him exploding into the ground in the blink of an eye.
