Last chapter... in the jungle, rouge and shadow were searching for a chaos emerald, only to find it in a crater that shadow realized was the site were the black arms attempted to attack again. Rouge took off with the chaos emerald and shadow followed but the two weren't aware that something was following them...โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
Rouge was gliding back into the jungle, maneuvering around the giant tree trunks and the sporadic vines dangling from the branches of those trees. She was doing whatever she could to lose her partner so she could keep the lustrous, sparkling trinket for herself. Shadow kept up with her, about to catch up to her when he stopped and let her fly out the jungle. When she looked to see if he was behind her, and didn't see him she kept going until she made it out of the denser parts of the jungle, and that was when shadow seemingly appeared out of thin air, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her to the groundโknocking the emerald out of her left hand. "...don't forget that the emerald is for the doctor, Rouge... you should know better..." shadow warned her, in his normally gravelly tone. She huffed, disappointed that she couldn't get away with gem. She always hated it when he throws her on the ground. He turned around and picked up the emerald, dusting off any dirt that got onto it,"I'll hold on to the emerald until we get back... and give it to the doctor as promised..." he insisted. Rouge rolled her eyes and got up to dust herself off," throwing me on the ground was unnecessaryโ" she grumbled to herself, but shadow ignored her and waited for her to come over to him. She came over, and he grabbed her arm and used the emerald to teleport. But while they were teleporting , something ran and jumped into them as they teleported to the doctor's lab, making the two fall to the ground. It was too big to be a normal mobian creature but it was tall enough be around their sizeโ "what was that?" Rouge got up, looking around for the creature. " im not sure," shadow responded," its still around here somewhere...i can sense it..." he didn't move, but he scanned the room with his eyes, looking for anything out of the ordinary... and he caught a glimpse of something running past behind some crates and boxes. "Show yourself, creature!" He demanded. A growl emerged from the creature's mouth, the two looked around to see where the sound was coming from. They heard the pitter patter of something running, and as soon as shadow turned around he was tackled to the ground. "unh!โ" he groaned as his back hit the concrete floor.
