A/N: I promise, me posting a new story doesn't mean I'm diverting my attention from my other active story, A Penchant for Trouble. I wrote this short little story in an effort to get past my writers block and it sort of blossomed from there so I figured I'd find better use for it by posting it rather than just letting it sit unread in my documents. It's only two chapters that I might turn into a short series of longish drabbles depending on my fellow VA fans' opinions. So let me know and enjoy!

Apologies for grammar!

Disclaimer: One of our favorite YA author's and savior, Richelle Mead, owns all things Vampire Academy of course. I only own this lemony plot. Which reminds me, this short is a little lemony (my first dip into writing sexy times between our favorite heroes) so look away if you don't want to be tainted/corrupted by the scandalousness of Rose and Dimitri between the sheets!

Prove It: Part One

Summary: Rose and Dimitri challenge each other to prove their love.

Dimitri kissed a slow path up my body, pulling the sheets with him as he buried his face into the side of my neck, gently nibbling on my heated skin. With a low groan, he rolled off of me but pulled me in close, his long arms and toned legs trapping me in his hold, blanketing me with his warm body coated in as thin a layer of sweat as I was.

He breathed out a contented sigh. "I love you."

"You always say that."

"I always mean it," he insisted, his hand tucking the sheets in around me.

I traced a pattern across the broad expanse of his chest as he tucked me below his chin. Laying together like this, it was hard to know where one of us ended and the other began. My favorite place in the world to be.

"I don't believe you."

"The things we just did a few seconds ago proves it," he countered, unfazed by my teasing. I shoved at his chest but he barely moved, chuckling as his eyes closed.

"If anything, it disproves it."

"How do you figure?"

"Because, everyone knows that simply saying 'I love you' doesn't mean anything if it's said immediately before, during, or after sex," I explained. "If you say it right before, you're just saying it to get into bed-"

"Beds are one of my top spots for quality time," he interrupted.

I continued, fighting laughter, as though he hadn't spoken. "If you say it during, it's only because you've gotten me into bed-"

"Can you blame me? You look good in bed. And the couch, in the car, at work, the beach that one time-"

I silenced him with a finger over his lips, still trying not to laugh but he was making it hard for me to keep my mock seriousness. He kissed my finger, nibbling on my skin before soothing his gentle bites with a smooth flick of his tongue. My body trembling, voice unsteadily breathy, I struggled to focus and continue.

"And if you say it immediately after, it's basically you saying 'thank you, Rose, for letting me into your pants'."

"Does it count if you were wearing a dress today?" I tried to frown at him but failed miserably. He laughed, amused by my convoluted logic. "So basically, I can't win. No matter when I say it, I don't mean it?"

"Yup!"

"So what's the timetable here? When can I say it where you'll believe me?"

"It's not when you say it so much as how you say it."

He opened his eyes, tilting my chin up to look him in the eye. Those eyes, such a deep soulful brown, focused solely on me, lit up, steady and unwavering as though he couldn't think of a single thing in the wold he'd rather be concentrating on. There was no mistaking his love for me. I just like giving him a hard time to hear him say it with as much earnest conviction as I know he will.

He doesn't disappoint.

He tucks my hair back behind my ear, his lips a mere inch apart from my own, voice low.

"You are the center if my every thought. No more than a few seconds pass every day when you're not at the forefront of my mind. My every thought and action and is of and for you. You are a large part of who I am and my incentive for becoming the better man I hope to be. I loath the moments we aren't together and cherish as well as savor the moments we are. With every ember of my heart and to the depths of my soul, I am indescribably, immeasurably in love with you."

He seals his declaration with a feather soft, lingering kiss that quickly builds to something more. I can already feel his body working itself up, ready for us to come together as one again. Just as he rolls us so that I'm laying on top, he pulls back.

"How was that?"

"Mmm...passionate, ardent, unmistakably honest. I'd rate it an five out of ten."

He huffed in amused disbelief. "Really?"

"Yeah it was good but not perfect."

"I enjoy the challenge of trying to achieve your high standards," he said dryly. "You're right. I left out the most important part: thank you for letting me into your pants...so to speak," he added, both of us disturbing the quietness around us with our laughter. "What's my grade now?"

"I'll award another point for your gratitude," I laughed.

"Only one more point? I think we can do better than that."

I scoffed. "If you'd said it like that the first time, during, I might have rated you a ten right off the bat."

He grabbed a firm hold of my behind, chastising me with a firm squeeze that had me squirming. I shoved at him, trying to play hard to get and roll off of him but being twice my size and weight, he easily kept a hold of me, rolling us back over so that he pinned me with his body. There was no safer place in the world to me than right here, nestled beneath him. If I could live every moment of every day in this spot, I would.

"If you think I'm going to let you have your way with me with only a six out of ten rating under your belt, you have another thing coming, Comrade. You have to earn it."

"I think I've more than earned it. It's your turn."

"To prove I love you?"

He nodded, one side of his mouth tilting tauntingly as he challenged me, rolling us back over in a tangle of sheets and limbs.

I shrugged, confident in my abilities to turn him into the same pile of human putty as he did me. "Easy."

"No words as eloquent as mine were. Only your body."

"Piece of cake."

I relished the glint in his eyes as he leaned down into my ear to whisper, "Then prove it."
