Today was the day. Family Day. Maka would see her father and Adora was going to see her family - mostly she hoped that Black Star would show up. Though Adora had the feeling that he wasn't going to show up because he had to deal with school work. Family day was something that the Group did for their patients so that they knew that they did have a support system outside of the hospital.
Right now it was breakfast time and Maka was looking at her food. Of course, this was something that she didn't like for the fact that her portions were always bigger to help her gain the weight that she needed. Maka wondered what her father would think if he saw her now? Would be happy? Would be upset with her? What would he be feeling...She was scared to disappoint him. She's already done that once before...that's why she's here in the hospital...
Adora was wondering who was going to be showing up for Family Day. She would be happy if Stein and Marie would show up. It would make her happier if Black Star would come too, but he doesn't like hospitals that much and she guessed that he would his best wishes for her to get better, but as of now, she wondered more about Maka and what she was thinking and what going on with her.
Family took place outside since the patients would be able to enjoy being outside and being with their families. Medusa would end up greeting each family member as they came through the building to the outside where their loved ones were waiting for them. This was something that the facility like to do. They like to show their patients that they still have a long way to go, but they will be able to get better and accept the fact that their family is going to be supporting them. Franken and Marie arrived to see Adora as this was the first time in months that they were able to see how she was doing. Spirit soon arrived ten minutes after Franken and Marie. He was happy to see how Maka was going to be doing. Spirit knew from Medusa that she was going to be doing much better and that she was going to be able to leave in a few months if she was going to stick to everything.
Adora spotted where her parents - parents. She never really used that term before, but they came. Her face soon dropped as she didn't see her brother with them. She walked over and sat down looking at them.
"Where is Black Star?" Adora asked as she was a bit sad that he wasn't here to see how she was doing.
"I am so sorry, Adora. I tired to get him to come today, but he chose to wait to see when you got out of here." Marie grabbed her hands and gripped them tightly. "Adora, how are you doing?"
"I-I'm doing fine. Is Black Star okay?" Adora asked as she looked between Marie and Franken.
"He's doing fine. Wish he did better on his studies though." Franken sighed as he looked at her. "How are you really doing? Don't lie to us."
"I met a friend - I suppose that's what you can call her." Adora admitted.
Somewhere else outside, Spirit spotted Maka sitting on a bench with her nose stuck in a book. One that she read multiple times. He was happy to see how she was doing. But before he walked over to her, he spotted Medusa and walked over to her first to see how Maka was really doing as he knew his daughter and knew that she wouldn't tell him the truth right away.
"Dr. Medusa." Spirit looked at her.
"Spirit. You know, Maka is over there - Family Day is about spending time with Family." Medusa pointed out as she didn't know what was going through Spirit's head at the moment.
"Oh, I know where my daughter is. I wanted to see you first to see how she really is doing."
"She seems to be handling everything better than I expected, but she is the slowest progress of any one else in her group."
"That's bad?"
"It can be seen as good or as bad. Depending which staff member you talk to. For me personally, everyone has their own pace, and Maka seems to enjoy the pace she is at."
"That's good. I'm glad that she's doing better. I hope to take her home one day."
"You will, time will only tell."
Soon after the conversation, Spirit walked over to Maka and sat next to her. "You know, I miss you at home."
Maka looked up from her book and looked at Spirit. "You do?"
"I just want you to get better." Spirit smiled at her.
"I met someone...Do you want to meet her?"
"Sure."
Spirit and Maka got up from the bench. Maka scanned the area until she spotted Adora with her parents. Maka slowly made her way over. Adora looked over as she saw Maka walking over.
"Maka!" Adora smiled.
A genuine smile was plastered on Adora's face. This was a rare sight that Franken and Marie saw. Though of course, Franken saw Spirit behind Maka - he knew that Maka was in here - the two fathers are the best of friends. There is no denying it. Maka sat down next to Adora as Spirit took a chair and situated himself at the head.
"Spirit, is that really you?" Marie asked - as she hasn't been out of the house since the twins came to live with them.
"Yeah, Marie. You look great. And this must be Adora, right?" Spirit smiled at the young woman sitting next to Maka.
"It is. We were just talking to Dr. Medusa and Adora might be able to come home soon as she is recovering faster than anyone else." Marie nodded her head. "What about your daughter?"
"Maka, here. She has her own pace going and she is doing just fine. Dr. Medusa said with Maka, only Maka will be able to tell her when she is ready to go home." Spiri lied to them.
From the corner of his eyes - Franken looked at Spirit - knowing his friend since they were ten years old, he could tell when he was lying. But he also knew that there was reason for him lying. He didn't want Maka to know the truth about how she was doing and didn't want to be compared to Adora. That would set either one of them back on their track as how they were doing.
"That's good to hear." Marie smiled.
