In the outskirts of Coruscant three figures were meeting to discuss the failed attempt to assasinate the senator. One of the assailants was fully dressed in mandolorian armor, the other was a woman in a helmet, and the third was the same robotic bird that had appeared on the landing platform when the senator had arrived.
"I hit the ship but they used a decoy" said the woman.
"We'll have to try something more subtle this time,Zam.
My client is getting impatient.
Take these. Be careful. They're very poisonous."said the mandorlorian as he handed a vile of larval creatures and placed them in a probe droid. "Zam there can be no mistakes this time."
The bird flew up close to Zam with a blade sticking out of its tail and explained "If there is a foul up this time, my master my just have to start "cutting" corners if you catch my drift".
"Lazerbeak lets go we can't keep Zam from her mission" said the mandolorian.
Zam lifted her veil and walked toward her speeder with a sinister looking symbol.
Back at the senators apartment in the main room Master and apprentice were on high alert waiting for the next strike from the assassin.
Obi-Wan enters the main room and while Anakin was observing Padme in her bedroom
"Captain Typho has more than enough men down stairs. No assassin will try that way. Any activity up here?" Said Obi-Wan.
"Quiet as a tomb. I don't like just waiting here for something to happen said Anakin with malcontent".
Obi-Wan checks a palm-sized view scanner he pulls out of his utility belt. Revealing a shot of R2-D2 and Wheelie by the door, but no sign of Padme on the bed.
"What's going on?" Obi-Wan asked
Anakin shrugged and said "She covered the cameras. I don't think she liked me watching her.
"What is she thinking?" asked Obi-Wan.
"She programmed Artoo to warn us if there's an intruder. Also Wheelies in there with her incase someone tries to break in." said Anakin.
"There are many other ways to kill a senator " said Obi-Wan.
"I know but we also want to catch this assassin, don't we master?" Anakin asked.
"You're using her as bait" Obi-Wan realized.
"It was her idea. Don't worry, no harm will come to her. I can sense everything that goes on in that room. Trust me." said Anakin.
"It's too risky... besides, your senses aren't that attuned, young apprentice said Obi-Wan".
"And yours are?" asked Anakin.
"Possibly" said Obi-Wan sternly.
Back outside on a nearby skyscraper ledge, Zam Wesell loads the cylinder, containing the deadly kouhuns, into a probe droid. She sends the droid out to its target to carry out her mission.
Returning to the apartment where Obi-Wan and Anakin are continuing their conversation.
"You look tired" said Obi-Wan.
"I don't sleep well anymore" said Anakin.
"Because of your mother?" asked Obi-Wan.
"I don't know why I keep dreaming about her" said Anakin
"Dreams pass in time" stated Obi-Wan.
"I'd much rather dream about Padme. Just being around her is...intoxicating" said Anakin
"Be mindful of your thoughts Anakin. They betray you. You've made a commitment to the Jedi order, a commitment not easily broken. And don't forget, she's a politician, and they're not to be trusted." said Obi-Wan
In Padmes bedroom while she sleeps the probe droid approaches her outside window using laser to cut a small circular hole in the glass allowing the two deadly looking centipede like kouhuns to enter through the blinds and head toward the sleeping senator.
Artoo wakes up and turns on his lights but the kouhuns are hiding beside the bed. R2 then proceeds to wake up Wheelie who had gone into power down mode (sleep for cybertronians) to see if there are any threats.
Beep beepwhistle."Huh wha- Alright what's the big idea can't an autobot get some rest around here" said Wheelie annoyed.
Artoo beeps and whirrs.
"I don't see anything in here. Are your circuits fried or something?" asked Wheelie.
Artoo beeps
"Why should I check it out, you're the one who thinks there's some mug in here."said Wheelie.
Artoo Whirrs and Whistles
"Alright alright I'll check it out and see if it's still okay. Will you be satisfied then?" said Wheelie.
Wheelie approaches the bed and scans the area fully to make sure no assassin has entered the vicinity he makes one final scan on the bed but the only life form he could detect was Padme. He checks under the bed on the floor and finds nothing and heads back to his post.
"See I told ya there was nothing there. Stupid Astro droid can't let an autobot rest for a few seconds Wheelie said angrily".
Unbeknownst to Wheelie however the kouhuns were hiding under the mattress above his head and as soon as the coast was clear they headed toward the senator to continue their dark deed.
Back in the main room master and apprentice were continuing their ongoing discussions of corrupt politicians.
"She's not like the others in the Senate, master." said Anakin.
"It's been my experience that senators are only focused on pleasing those who fund their campaigns... and they are more willing to forget the niceties of democracy to get those funds." said Obi-Wan.
"Not another lecturer master. Not on the economics of politics..." Anakin said.
Back in the senators bedroom the kouhuns were prepared to strike. While the Jedi continue the discussion of politics.
"...and besides, you're generalizing. The Chancellor doesn't appear to be corrupt Anakin continued."
"Palpatine's a politician. I've observed that he is very clever at following the passions and prejudices of the senators." said Obi-Wan.
Back in the senators bedroom the kouhuns were close enough to make the kill when at last the Jedi were still in there conversation when they sensed the danger
"I think he's a good man. My..." Anakin was interrupted by a bad feeling he had.
"I sense it too" said Obi-Wan in shock.
The two Jedi burst through the door with the kouhuns ready to strike, they wake up Padme, Anakin puts himself in front of the attackers, and cuts them both in half and with his lightsaber.
Obi-Wan sees the probe droid outside the window and jumps out grabbing onto it before it could retreat. Unknowing Obi-Wan also had an unexpected passenger clinging to his right leg they were both flying through the city hanging on for dear life.
"Stay here" Anakin said to Padme as he rushed off to help his master whilst Captain Typho and two guards and Dorme rushed in to check on the senator.
"Are you alright my lady?" asked Dorme.
While Obi-Wan and Wheelie were still on the ride of their lives, Anakin charges out of the building and runs into a line of parked speeders. One of which he particularly liked. It was yellow with black stripes with a peculiar symbol on the steering wheel. He vaults into the speeder and takes off gunning it fast toward the lines of speeder traffic in hot pursuit.
The probe droid bumps against a wall hoping that the Jedi and small autobot would drop but fails so in flies into oncoming traffic where several drivers had to dodge. One passenger which was a dug had made a rude comment and Wheelie caught wind of it.
So Wheelie shook his fist and yelled:"HEY LEARN HOW TO DRIVE IDIOT!!!!!"
Obi-Wan oblivious to what had happened earlier finally realized who was along for the ride with him.
"WHEELIE! WHAT IN BLAZES ARE YOU DOING HERE?!!" asked Obi-Wan.
"I GRABBED ON TO YOUR LEG WHEN YOU JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW!!! DEAL WITH IT!!!" Wheelie yelled.
Finally the probe droid heads for Zam Wesell, she sees the droid approach with both Obi-Wan and Wheelie hanging on, she pulls a long rifle out of the speeder, and fires a single shot making a direct hit destroying the droid and letting both the autobot and the Jedi fall to their deaths as she jumps in her speeder and takes off.
Anakin sees his master fall and accelerates trying to get him in time.
While Obi-Wan and Wheelie are falling, Wheelie looks down, still clinging to Obi-Wans leg, let's go and screams"WE'RE GONNA DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!" Thankfully Anakin came just in time to catch them both.
"What took you so long?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Oh you know, Master, I couldn't find a speeder I really liked, with an open cockpit... and the right speed capabilities." said Anakin.
"If you'd spend as much time working on your saber techniques as you do your wit, you would rival master Yoda as a swordsman." said Obi-Wan.
"I thought I already did said Anakin"
"Only in your mind my very young apprentice" said Obi-Wan.
"Hey can we cut the chitchat until after we catch this bum 'cause he's getting away."
The chase went on forcing Zam to go down into lower part of Coruscant going faster and faster Anakin kept up with her increasing speed before the small band of heroes nearly hit a commuter train.
" Pull up Anakin. Pull up!!" Obi-Wan said with fear in his eyes. While Anakin was laughing.
"I can't look" Wheelie said covering his eyes.
Anakin finally pulled up and continued his pursuit.
"You know I don't like it when you do that." said Obi-Wan.
"Sorry Master. I forgot you don't like flying" said Anakin.
"I don't mind flying...but what you're doing is suicide!" said Obi-Wan.
The game of cat and mouse continued into a power refinery. Anakin was dodging torches left and right while Zam was ahead. A power coupling was in front of her, she shoots it causing electricity to jump across a gap from one coupling to the other. Zam makes it through before the streams could meet each other. Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Wheelie however were about to received the business end of the streams.
"Uh not to point out the obvious, but there's a power coupling ahead of us. Prepare to get shocked." said Wheelie.
Anakin drove through the streams getting electrocuted Wheelie was twitching and yelling in pain receiving the volts and Obi-Wan was yelling at Anakin "ANAKIN HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU!!! STAY AWAY FROM POWER COUPLINGS !!"
After they had made it by the skin of their teeth Wheelie went into a temporary stasis lock(knockout or coma for cybertronians) and the chase continued.
Zam had fled into an access tunnel while Anakin drives the exact opposite way instead of following Zam he hopes to catch her.
"Where are you going?!...He went that way" said Obi-Wan.
"Master, if we keep this chase going any longer that creep is going end up deep fried. Personally I'd very much like to find out who he is and who he's working for...This is a shortcut...I think." Anakin said halfheartedly.
As Zam was traveling down the tunnel, Anakin was taking the other way around coming to a complete stop when they had lost her. Unbeknownst to Anakin and Obi-Wan Zam had was headed their way
"Well you've lost him" said Obi-Wan disappointed.
"I'm deeply sorry,Master" said Anakin.
Anakin looks around front and back. He spots something he seems to start counting to himself as he watches his target approach.
"That was some shortcut. He went completely the other way. Once again you've proved..." Obi-Wan said interrupted.
"If you'll excuse me!" said Anakin.
Anakin leaps out of the speeder falling five stories below them to Zams speeder. Obi-Wan looks down and sees this and reluctantly says "I hate it when he does that."
Miraculously Anakin lands on top of the rogue speeder. But it was spinning around as if it had a mind of its own. Zam wasn't even holding the controls.
Obi-Wan had slid into the drivers seat and began to pursue them again with Wheelie still unconscious.
Zam was looking out her window at her Jedi attacker first time she looked she didn't look like herself as much as she did a green alien.
Anakin prepared to draw out his lightsaber but again the speeder had shook Anakin causing him to let go of his blade and send it flying. Luckily Obi-Wan was right behind them and caught Anakin's lightsaber and set it beside him.
The speeder had hovered into the street opening one of its doors letting Zam out a few blocks away from a local night club and continued with Anakin still on top of it. Suddenly the speeder comes to a complete stop throwing Anakin on to the pavement in front of the speeder when these metallic scanners came out it.
Suddenly while a large crowd of people were gathered around the speeder started to move and transform into a giant menacing robot.
Anakin reached for his lightsaber but forgot he had lost it on the way down so his only option was to join the people and run. The robot had pursued Anakin until he swung his arm and hit Anakin forcing him into a pile of debris.
"Are you the Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker?!" The Robot asked.
"What?!"asked Anakin.
"ARE YOU THE JEDI PADAWAN ANAKIN SKYWALKER?!!!!" The Robot asked again sternly.
"Yes!" Anakin said stunned and amazed how the robot knew his name and status as a Jedi.
"Where is the item senator Amidala was wearing on Naboo when her second term as queen had ended? WHERE IS THE NECKLACE?!!!" The Robot yelled as he slammed his arm to the ground.
From out of nowhere Obi-Wan and the speeder had appeared knocking the robot off balance causing him to fall. Anakin seized the opportunity and jumped into the speeder and made their escape. Wheelie finally came to and was slightly woozy.
"Oh boy. Anybody get the number on that coupling " Wheelie said hazily.
He soon realized what was happening when he turned around and saw their pursuer.
"AAH!!!! ITS A DECEPTICON HES GONNA KILL US ALL!!!" Wheelie yelled.
"Nice save, Master" said Anakin.
"Don't thank me. I barely had my hands on the the steering. It's as if this machine has a mind of its own" said Obi-Wan.
Suddenly the speeder parked Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Wheelie jumped out. The yellow speed did exactly as Zams speeder did and transformed into a giant robot only this one was protecting the two Jedi. The decepticon that changes into Zams speeder transformed from vehicle mode to robot mode an began fighting the yellow robot.
"You two find the assassin. I'll take care of Barricade" said the yellow robot.
"Yeah good idea Bee. If you need me I'll be on the side lines behind that garbage can" said Wheelie.
The Jedi nodded and the fight went on. Anakin rushed ahead to find Zam and Obi-Wan rushed behind him headed into the club.
"Anakin!" Obi-Wan yelled.
"She went into that club, Master." said Anakin.
"Patience. Use the Force. Think." said Obi-Wan.
"Sorry Master" said Anakin.
"He went in there to hide not to run" said Obi-Wan.
"Yes,Master" said Anakin.
Obi-Wan held Anakins lightsaber in his hand
"Next time try not to lose it" said Obi-Wan.
"Yes,Master" said Anakin.
"This weapon is your life" said Obi-Wan.
"I try, Master"said Anakin.
Obi-Wan and Anakin enter the club and notice the patrons continuing as if nothing is happening outside. Completely oblivious to the giant robot fight that's happening in the street.
"Why do I get the feeling that you're going to be the death of me" asked Obi-Wan to Anakin.
"Don't say that Master...You're the closest thing I have to a father" said Anakin.
"Then why don't you listen to me?!" asked Obi-Wan.
"I am trying" said Anakin reassuredly.
Obi-Wan and Anakin scan the area to see if they can find their missing assailant.
"Can you see him" asked Obi-Wan?
"I think he's a she...and I think she's a changling" said Anakin.
"In that case be extra careful...Go and find her" said Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan was walking towards the bar.
"Where are you going, Master" asked Anakin?
" For a drink" said Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan continues to make his way to the bar. Anakin gives him a surprised look and makes his way through the crowd as the others look at him with suspicion and hostility. Ob-Wan arrives at the bar where he signals the bar tender.a drink is poured and he lifts his glass while also he's being talked into buying illegal substances by Elan Sleazebaggano.
"You want to buy some death-sticks" asked Elan?
Using his powers in the Force Obi-Wan was waving his hand and performing a Jedi mind trick.
"You don't want to sell me death-sticks" said Obi-Wan.
"I don't want to sell you death-sticks"said Elan.
"You want to go home and rethink your life" said Obi-Wan.
"I want to go home and rethink my life" said Elan.
With that Elan was never seen again. Somewhere in the bar Zam was close with blaster in her hand. Anakin was still hunting her as Zam was moving closer and closer to ready to shoot him where he stood she her blaster ready fire and kill Obi-Wan. Suddenly Obi-Wan ignites his lightsaber and cuts off Zams hand with her blaster in it.
The room goes silent and Anakin appears by his masters side.
"Easy...Jedi business go back to your drinks" said Anakin.
They brought her to the alley outside. The yellow robot also appeared having been the victor of the fight. And begin their interrogation.
"Do you know who it was you were trying to kill" asked Obi-Wan?
"The senator from Naboo" said Zam.
"And who hired you" asked Obi-Wan?
"It was just a job" said Zam.
"Who hired you tell us...TELL US NOW!!!!" Anakin demanded.
"It was a bounty hunter called..." before Zam could finish a Ftzzz sound came out and Zam was killed. Suddenly a jet pack fired off and the mandalorian, Lazerbeak,and a damaged Barricade had escaped.
Zam laid slowly dying from the dart the Mandalorian had shot in her neck until she had fully changed into her Clawdite form and died. Obi-Wan pulled the dart out of her neck and examined it.
"Toxic Dart" said Obi-Wan.
Both Master and apprentice looked at the yellow robot knowing know that he is an autobot. The autobot knew he had some explaining to do.
Suddenly Wheelie appeared from behind the garbage can and looked at everything even Zams dead body and asked "What'd I miss?"
