Chapter 6
Missing Planet
In the streets of Coruscant, Obi-Wan is walks into a small diner owned by one of his oldest friends Dexter Jettser. Obi-Wan was on a mission to find out where the toxic dart came from and why it didn't show up in the analysis archives.
"Someone to see ya honey. Jedi by the looks of him. A waitress droid called to an older Besalisk.
"Obi-Wan!" Said Dex happily
"Hello Dex." Said Obi-Wan with a smile.
"Take a seat I'll be right with you." Said Dex as he made his way out of the kitchen.
Obi-Wan takes a seat in a booth waiting for him.
"You want a cup of ardees?" The waitress droid asked.
"Oh yes, thank you." Said Obi-Wan.
The waitress moves off to get the drink and as the counter opens Dexter Jettser appears. He was big, four armed, and sweaty. Not particularly someone to mess with.
"Hey, ol' buddy!" Said Dex as hugged Obi-Wan and they both laughed and Dex sat down.
"So, my friend what can I do for ya?" Asked Dex.
"You can tell me what this is." Said Obi-Wan as he lays the dart on the table.
Dex picks up the dart and examines it and finally realizes what it is.
"Well Whaddya know... I ain't seen one of these since I was prospecting on Subterrel beyond the Outer Rim!" Said Dex.
"Can you tell me where it came from?" Asked Obi-Wan as he thanked the waitress droid for bringing his drink.
"This baby belongs to them cloners. What you got here is a Kamino saberdart." Said Dex.
"I wonder why it didn't show up in the analysis archive."Obi-Wan wondered.
"It's these funny little cuts on the side that give it away...Those analysis droids only focus on symbols. I should think you Jedi would have more respect for the difference between knowledge and wisdom." Dex chuckled.
"Well if droids could think they'd be none of us here would there? Kamino I'm not familiar with it, is it in the Republic?" Asked Obi-Wan.
"No no it's beyond the Outer Rim. I'd say about twelve parsecs outside the Rishi Maze next to that one planet where those transformers are from Cybertron. It should be easy to find, even for those droids in your archives. These Kaminoans keep to themselves. They're cloners. Damn good ones, too." Said Dex.
"Cloners? Are they friendly?" Asked Obi-Wan.
"Oh it depends." Said Dex
"Depends on what, Dex?" Asked Obi-Wan with a grin.
"On how good your manners are...and how big your...pocketbook is." Said Dex as he chuckled.
Later that day in the archives of the Jedi temple Obi-Wan was staring at a bronze statue of Count Dooku awaiting assistance from the keeper of the archives, Madam Jocasta Nu.
"Did you call for assistance?" Asked Jocasta.
"Yes...yes I did." Said Obi-Wan.
"Are you having a problem Master Kenobi?" Asked Jocasta.
"Yes, I'm trying to find a planetary system called Kamino.
It doesn't seem to seem to show up on any of the archive charts." Obi-Wan explained.
"Kamino? It's not a system I'm familiar with...Are you sure you typed the coordinates?" Asked Jocasta as she leaned over Obi-Wan's shoulder.
"According to my information it should appear in this quadrant here, just south of the Rishi Maze." Said Obi-Wan.
Madam Jocasta typed in the coordinates into the computer again but Kamino didn't show up, however Cybertron was in full view.
"It appears that the only system within this sector is Cybertron. I hate to say it, but it looks like the system you're searching for doesn't exist." Said Madam Jocasta.
"Impossible perhaps the archives are incomplete." Said Obi-Wan.
"If an item does not appear on our records it does not exist." Said Madam Jocasta sternly.
Obi-Wan sat at the computer wondering why Cybertron appeared in the archives and Kamino did not he would look into this mystery further.
Back on the freighter Padme and Anakin were enjoying each other's company while Artoo and Wheelie were getting food for them.
"Hey! No droids" said the service droid.
Artoo whirred and beeped
"Do I look like a freakin' droid to you!" Wheelie said angrily.
"Get out of here ! Said the service droid.
"Eh blow it out your exhaust vent! Said Wheelie angrily.
Artoo and Wheelie make their way to Padme and Anakin carrying the food while the two humans were talking about their careers.
"It must be difficult having sworn your life to the Jedi Padme said...not being able to visit the places you like...or do the things you like..."
"Or be with the people I love." Anakin added.
"Are you allowed to love? I thought it was forbidden for a Jedi to love." Said Padme.
"Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love is essential to a Jedi's life, you might say we are encouraged to love." Said Anakin.
"You've changed so much" said Padme.
"You haven't changed a bit. You're exactly the way I remember you in my dreams." Said Anakin.
Padme stared at Anakin for a brief awkward moment and eat her food.
Back on Coruscant at the Jedi temple, Obi-Wan walked across the main hall in search of Master Yoda.
Luckily in the training room he was instructing a group of younglings in defensive training against a blaster remote.
"Don't think...feel...be as one with the force. Help you it will." Said Yoda. "Younglings ...younglings a visitor we have."
"Hello Master Obi-Wan" said the younglings as Kenobi walked into the room.
"Hello" Obi-Wan responded.
"What help to you can I be?" Asked Yoda.
"I'm looking for a planet described to me by an old friend. I trust him, but the system doesn't seem to show up on any of the archive maps." Said Obi-Wan.
"Lost a planet, Master Obi-Wan has how embarrassing... how embarrassing Yoda said".
"Liam the shades. Gather around the map viewer and find Obi-Wans wayward planet we will." Yoda instructed
"It ought to be...here right next to Cybertron, but it's not. Gravity is pulling all the stars inward to this spot" said Obi-Wan.
"Most interesting gravity's silhouette remains, but the star and all it's planets disappeared they have! How can this be? A thought? Anyone?" Asked Yoda
The room was quiet until finally one of the Padawans said"Master because someone erased it from the archive memory."
"Truly wonderful the mind of a child is. The padawan is right. Go to the center of Gravity's pull and find your planet you will." Said Yoda.
As the shades were lifted and the map viewer was deactivated, Obi-Wan and Yoda exited the room to have a private conversation.
"But Master Yoda who could've erased information from the archives? It's impossible isn't it? Asked Obi-Wan.
"Dangerous and disturbing this puzzle is. Only a Jedi could've erased those files. But who and why harder to answer. Meditate on this I will." Said Yoda.
As they both said goodbye Obi-Wan made his way to the Hoth system to meet Ultra Magnus and the rest of the Autobots and hopefully find some answers as to why the Decepticons want Senator Amidala as well as the assassins.
