"Let's get this party started!" Flynn yelled as he fists bumped the air.

A cheer went through the crowed. Summer was almost over and Rapunzel, along with some other locale college students, had prepared a last party. It was on the beach and a lot of people had come. Rapunzel was the main planner, and her parties were always great, so it was no surprise that it was so crowded.

I looked around. Rapunzel had really out done herself this year. There were games you could win small prizes at, scheduled competitions, and even a stand were people could sing.

I followed the crowed and started to dance on the beach as a band played. I caught a glimpse of Flynn and Rapunzel dancing with each other. Flynn pointed at something and as Rapunzel turned to look, he snuck a kiss on her cheek. I smiled and turned away happy for my best friend. I looked around for Anna. I found her standing with a drink in her hand. She was talking with Kristoff who also had a drink. I was always glade that my friends and sister had gotten along ever since they met so many months ago. Kristoff especially had been kind and had shown Anna around town occasionally.

This was my last night here with my friends. School started tomorrow and Anna and I would be heading to the mermaid kingdom. I walked over to Anna and Kristoff.

"Hey guys, what are you talking about?" I asked.

"Hey Elsa." Anna greeted me like we did not come to this party together. "I was teasing Kristoff on his lack of fun on how he refuses to dance."

"I just don't want to do anything embarrassing." Kristoff said flustered.

"You promised Flynn that you would do the three-legged race together, so how is dancing the more embarrassing task?" Anna questioned him.

Kristoff folded his arms and glared at her. "Everyone in the three-legged race will be embarrassing themselves, unlike dancing, in which only I would be the laughingstock."

Anna chewed her lip trying to think of an argument against his logic.

"Fine, you win." Anna conceded. Kristoff cheered and I was just standing there giggling the whole time.

"Speaking of the three-legged race, I think it should be starting soon." Kristoff said.

"Then we better get to it." Anna said and then turned to me. "Do you want to do it with me Elsa?"

"I do not see why not." I replied. Anna grabbed my arm and the three of us ran to the contest.

We arrived and where greeted by Flynn. We tied the rope around our ankles connecting us together.

"Will take it nice and slow okay Anna? Remember, haste makes waste." I said getting in the zone. Anna nodded.

"On your marks." The judge said. "Get set. Go!"

Anna and I started going. In the corner of my eye I saw someone try to run it with their partner, they immediately fell flat on their faces. Anna and I were doing okay, but then Kristoff and Flynn shot past us. I gripped onto Anna's shoulder and we both instinctively started to go faster. We managed to catch up and were neck and neck with Kristoff and Flynn. We were almost to the finish line when a couple of people I had not realized had caught up, tripped, and took Kristoff and Flynn down with them. Anna and I broke through the ribbon and we both started jumping up and down cheering. We both lost our footing and landed on our butts. We laughed and untied ourselves.

"Congratulations." Flynn said as he and Kristoff helped us up.

"Thanks, I am actually surprised we won." I replied as I dusted myself off.

"Why is that?" Anna asked. I gave her a look and she frowned. "I am not that clumsy."

"No, but you are not that great at walking either." I countered.

Anna huffed. "We won; I don't understand why you are teasing me."

"What are big sisters for?" I said as I flicked her nose.

We were given our prize, two medals. After that we tracked down Rapunzel and we all spent the day together. I suggested that we sing on stage, but Anna shot that down as it was not wise to have a Mermaid Queen and princess sing, especially us, as I still tended to go overboard sometimes and Anna still lacked good control. Flynn thought it would have been awesome if we had hypnotized our audience and made them do the Hokey Pokey. Rapunzel and Flynn ended up singing together, and I had to admit they sounded great.

As the sun was setting, we all went on Kristoff's boat and rode off into the sea. We all sat there and just stared.

"You are really leaving tomorrow?" Rapunzel finally said.

"Yes."

"What about school? Are you not going to finish collage?" Flynn asked. I had told them my decision of leaving months ago but it was only now that these questions were being asked.

"I have thought about it." I began. "I decided that I shouldn't put off my responsibilities and that I will never really understand them if I don't go. I promise that I will be back for winter break as well as spring break, I might come back next summer, but I definitely will be back next fall, and then I will finish up collage. Really, I am just taking a year off." I tried to explain the plan I had formed in the months of anticipation for when Anna and I left.

"You will be here for Christmas?" Rapunzel asked, her eyes looked like they were trying to find a glimmer of good news.

"Definitely, wouldn't miss it for the world." I looked deep into Raps's eyes to show her I meant it. She gave me a small smile.

"What time are you leaving tomorrow?" She asked.

"Around nine or ten in the morning." I said.

Raps looked like she was going to say something, but Flynn put his arm around her and stopped her.

"We will see you off then." Flynn said, giving me a smile.

I smiled gratefully at him. Flynn and I were polar opposites, and were only friends because of Rapunzel, but I always was thankful that I was friends with him.

"Then I guess I will say goodbye to you tonight." Kristoff said. We all turned to him in shock. "I have school early in the morning and won't be out until late afternoon." He shrugged.

"I see." I said and then leaned forward and gave him a hug. "Goodbye Kristoff." I whisper in his ear.

He hugged me back and chuckled. "You're not leaving yet."

I pull away and smile. Flynn then turned to Anna.

"I guess this will be the last time we see you, right?" Flynn asked her. "I mean you have a life under the sea, with friends, so no point on visiting us."

"You would be surprised by how great of friends you are, Flynn." Anna said. "I am definitely coming back with Elsa, if you don't mind seeing me again."

They all shook their heads.

"We would love to spend more time with you Anna." Rapunzel said and hugged her.

"Yeah, I still need to beat you in a race." Flynn said while shoving her shoulder. Anna giggled.

We all turned to Kristoff.

"Oh, um, you are a great girl Anna. I will look forward to seeing you again." Kristoff said very flustered. We all laughed at him.

A sound like a gunshot went off and we all turned to see the fireworks go off. We sat there in silence until the last firework lit the sky.

"I guess we will be off." I said.

"Really, you don't want to stay a little longer?" Rapunzel asked as she grabbed my arm.

I smiled understandingly at her. "We have a long day of swimming tomorrow, so we should get a good night's rest." I said and then looked down. "Besides, I don't want to prolong our goodbye incase I change my mind."

Rapunzel nodded and let go of my arm. "Okay, I will see you tomorrow." I nodded and turned to give Kristoff one last goodbye.

"Well I guess I will go first, Anna said as she stood up. "By the way Kristoff, you have something on your cheek." She told him, pointing to her own cheek.

"Really?" Kristoff said as he started to wipe at his cheek. We all stared at him, not seeing the so-called smudge. Anna walked over to him.

"Here I will get it off."

Kristoff turned his head and Anna leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. She quickly got up and dived in the water.

Stunned silence followed her.

"She has a crush on you!" Yelled Rapunzel.

"You were spending a lot of time at Elsa's house after she showed up." Commented Flynn as he pointed accusingly at Kristoff.

Kristoff touched his cheek in shock and then flustered tried to explain himself. "I, I was just visiting because I didn't trust her at first, but she turned out to be fun to talk to and Sven loved her so I… She told me she would never fall in love with a human."

"You have a crush on her!" Rapunzel continued to yell.

"She is a great girl, nice choice." Flynn teased.

"It is not like that!" Kristoff shouted. "I don't think so yet."

"You have a crush on her!" Chanted Flynn and Raps.

It was then that everyone became aware of my cold big sisterly rage.

"Elsa." Kristoff tried to speak. "I didn't know she was going to kiss me."

I stood up and gave him my best icy glare. "I will be having a talk with you at winter break." I made a motion with my hand to single I would be watching him.

"Goodbye everyone." I said and then dived down into the ocean.

I saw Anna holding her face in embarrassment. I swam up to her.

"Can I ask what it is that you like about him?" I asked her.

"I like how he is kind to animals, among other things." Anna mumbled.

I smiled at her encouragingly. Kristoff was a great guy, but I would not be telling him that to his face any time soon. I grabbed Anna's hand and we swam home.

We slept in the pool as I had grown quite used to it. It just felt right.

The next day we had breakfast and made sure that the house was nice and clean and locked up. We then watched television as we waited for Flynn and Raps to show up. Once they arrived, we all went down to the beach.

"Here is the key to my house, please eat up the food in there." I said as I handed Rapunzel my key. Anna and Flynn were a little way away giving Raps and I some privacy.

"All right, have a safe trip you two." Rapunzel said as she delicately took my key.

"Am I doing the right thing?" I ask her. Rapunzel looked up at me. I was afraid. My life had always been here, and Rapunzel, Flynn, and Kristoff were my family for so long.

"But you were smiling so brightly this summer." Rapunzel said, shocking me.

"What?"

"Ever since Anna came, you have been so much happier." Raps explained encouragingly. "When I met Flynn and found my family, I was finally home. And I knew the moment Anna washed up in your pool, you had finally found your home as well."

Tears prickled at my eyes and I hugged her.

"Go be a mermaid Queen Elsa."

I nodded and let go, wiping away my tears. We walked over to Anna and Flynn.

"Are you ready to go?" Anna asked worriedly seeing my tears.

I nodded and gave her a big smile.

"More than ready."

I grabbed her hand. We both turned and waved to Flynn and Rapunzel.

"Goodbye, I'll see you at Christmas." I said.

"You two had better have had your first kiss by the time we get back." Anna said and we all laughed.

Together, Anna and I walked out into sea. As soon as the water was deep enough a wave crashed over us and we transformed. We swam out a little before resurfacing and giving Flynn and Rapunzel one last wave goodbye.

We were still holding hands as we swam to the mermaid kingdom.

We were going homeward.

Author's note:

This was the original ending to homeward as well as the title. For some reason word kept auto correcting the word "Bound". The story will continue as I have thought of great underwater adventures for Anna and Elsa. Next chapter will pick up right as the girls get to the kingdom. Honestly I was lacking inspiration for what to have Anna and Elsa do on land. But for now, I am going to let Homeward rest for a bit. I am going to focus more on my other stories. Poor Ice in the Flames has been neglected long enough.

Here is some bonus information. When Anna and Elsa return for Christmas. Anna and Kristoff share their first kiss under some mistletoe. And Flynn proposes to Rapunzel who says yes, on Christmas eve.

Did anyone catch the hint that Anna was developing a crush on Kristoff last chapter? They were always planed even after I made the long-life span for mermaids. Their love is something of a tragedy, but they chose to cherish the time they have together. My one regret is that I never thought of a good chapter to show them falling in love.

Another thing I forgot to tell you last chapter was that I originally had Anna and Elsa's dresses be like selkie cloaks. Mermaids cannot transform without them as they are accentually their scales. It was scrapped because I could not think of a good and interesting way to incorporate it. I wanted Elsa to just get in the water and not have to search for the dress. I finally thought of a good idea just a week ago in which her mother took the dress and Anna had brought it with her. That would have better explained their fathers lack of ability to explain things to Elsa as he could not just pick her up and throw her in the pool for her to transform.

I also was originally going to have a year skip where Elsa had finished collage but decided that it would make more since for her to leave sooner. I did not think it was right to just leave Anna in that pool for a year. And if I did the year skip Elsa would have felt more confident on leaving.

As promised here is what Anna and Elsa would be if they transformed into Sea Witches.

Anna.

She would transform because Kristoff died. She had seen the tragedy that happened with her parents but had still fallen in love with a human.

She would become an angler fish. Her hair would turn white and her scales would turn black with light white streaks going through her. She would lose all her extra fins that decorate her body. The Fin on her tail becomes less extravagant and is spiky at the ends. Her fingers also become longer and sharp and her teeth become sharp as well. She is skinny and blind. As love blinds you.

She can create a ball of light. Mermaids who fall in love with humans can see the light and are drawn to it. If mermaids are not able to ignore the light and fallow it all the way to Anna, she will turn them into small creatures the size of a hand. The creatures have arms and legs, but their hands and feet are fins, to show that they could never be human. Their head glow so you can not tell if they have a face. They are always attracted to Anna's light and therefore are always around her, believing that they are happy.

She would be hard to stop as only people who have fallen in love with a human can see her light.

She is the Sea Witch of hopeless love.

Elsa.

Thank you (Frozen Wolf heart 22) for your suggestion for both Anna and Elsa. Anna had already been decided but I thought your suggestion was still good. As for Elsa, I did not want to do octopus because I will always associate that with Ursula. I was planning on making her an Eel but my brother suggested something else so that is what it is. Your suggestion for why Elsa would turn was actually really good though, so I am using it, but I am also adding a little. I was really struggling on why she would turn but you managed to think up something that really felt like it would fit with Elsa. Thank you so much!

So here is Sea Witch Elsa.

Elsa would transform because of feeling out of place because she had lived as a human and because she delved to deep into her powers.

She would become a channichthyidae also known as the crocodile ice fish. She would become skinny. Color seems to have drained from her except for an icy blue. Her scales and fin become transparent but the only thing you can see in her is her red heart. Her teeth become sharp and a spiked fin runs all the way down her back to the end of her tail. She loses all her extra fins and her tail fin is less extravagant.

She controls ice and she use it to freeze mermaids. Making them like her as best as she can, clear skinned with only their red hearts showing and a thirst for power. She succeeds but they always end up mindless and animalistic, only understanding her orders and nothing else. She is trying to create her own kingdom with people like her. She targets people who feel like they do not belong. Her creations are always searching for someone to take back home to their queen. Evidently, Anna would be one of her victims as Anna has always felt out of place and she is Elsa's only family. Elsa would have tried extra hard with Anna, so Anna is more domesticated. She can not speak but can tell when Elsa is upset and will comfort her.

She is the Sea Witch of Frozen Hearts.

I hope you found this spookily delightful.

Thank you once again for reading! Good luck and stay safe!
