A/N Sup, whoever that read this. I'm not a good writer so constructive critism is always welcomed, review if you wanted too.
Nuuo: I guess so, the second one was Lisa's warning him.
Lerans: Huh, I didn't think about that, who knows I might do that in the future.
It was cold, a sensation that he has been familiar to but still not completely used with yet. In the small room at the end of the hallway, Lincoln shifted slightly in his bed before noticing the light weight pressing against his right arm on the soft mattress. He tried pulling his hand away but the weight prevented him from making any slight movement without struggling too much.
Feeling a little bit uncomfortable and awake now, his eyes slowly fluttered open and fixated with the dark condition of the room, slowly taking in his surrounding. It was still night time if the absence of light through the circular window of his room would indicate anything. And from the look of it, he could only guess that it was still late at night with how quiet it was. There is no other sound around him except for his calm heartbeat... followed by another much gentler one.
Lincoln tried getting up only to fall back on his bed when the weight pulled him down. What is it?
He tried lifting his right arm again but he couldn't move it much with the weight still pressing on it. Sighing in defeat, he let the back of his head rested on the pillow and looked to the direction where his right arm supposed to be only to find a small figure lying there instead. He raised an eyebrow at the sight, assuming that it was just his mind playing trick with him, but the lump shifted slightly beside him when he moved his arm. With the absent of light in the room, he couldn't make out what it was if he is only depending on his vision alone.
It was dark, and if not for the fact of the comforting warmth brushed against his skin, he would have passed it off as a dream, but that wouldn't make any sense either. Not with how the figure seemed to be moving more now after all the small movements he had made earlier. Whatever it was, it must have been bothered by his attempt to get up from the bed after he woke up much prior.
Lincoln hesitantly lifted his left hand and reached out towards the figure until his palm planted on a soft surface, which only raised his confusion even more. He traced his fingers along the figure, examining the curve and remembering where he used to feel it before. It was so familiar to him and the nice scent assisted to help his clearing mind to reach a certain conclusion that brought a small smile to his face.
He should have known better that it was her to begin with. Even after all the time they had spent together, he still wasn't used with this unusual side of her before. It was strange yet so welcoming in a weird way. He didn't realize it before but her stoic voice containing more emotion than he first expected from someone like her. The more time he spend with her, the more he learn about her that brought him closer into her world, and he was glad for that. Lincoln smiled at the revelation and stared at the beautiful sight taking space on his bed.
Beside him, Lisa clad in her green pajama was lying on her side with her face towards him. It was dark but he could feel his hand brushed against her soft cheek just from memory alone. His mind began creating his own vision in his head as if he could actually see her sleeping face. The whole room seemed to be more clearer to him now with her presence beside him.
Even without the light, he could see his right arm being pressed beneath the girl shoulder as she snored lightly, her small frame slowly rising and falling with her breath that caressed his skin. Her messy brown hair slightly covering her forehead and closed eyes as some of them spreaded on the bed. She was no longer wearing her glasses and if he searched hard enough he would probably find it rested somewhere on the nightstand.
How did he fall for her? He knew how wrong it was and yet he still wanted to see if his theory was right. What about her that make her so different than any other girl? Why is she the only one that can make him feel this sensation in his heart? He wanted to know the answer but the result wasn't what he expected to receive. He would never understand the reason that supported his theory, but by now he don't think he care anymore.
But, does she actually think the same?
What can he actually give to her that she would have wanted. He isn't as smart as her to change the world or anything like that. He can only be by her side and helped her with her experiment, would that be enough for her? He didn't know the answer and it scared him. He realized that he can't love anyone as much as he loved her. He tried but it didn't feel the same with other girl. He don't want to lose her, he don't want to be alone, not again. Not when he finally understand this weird feeling in his heart everytime she smiles.
But as her brother, he would have let her go if she wanted to, he would never stop her if she wanted to leave him. Even if it's hurt him, he would have rather see her happy than holding her back with him. She has a lot of potential and he don't want to be the one preventing her from going further. They are taking a lot of risk by doing this, both of them knew that but it never stopped them.
He don't know what she sees in him, or how long it will lasted. But he was happy for it even if there is a chance that it would end someday. He loves her, he will always loves her no matter what fate bring for them. His feeling would never change and if he would still be alone in the end, then be it, his heart no longer belong to him when he first locked his lips with hers and he will never regret that. He will never regret falling for her even with all the reason that could tear them apart.
A drop of tear suddenly escaped from the corner of his eye.
Lincoln brought his left hand to his face and wiped the tear away. He didn't realize the tear welling in his eyes until he felt the wet liquid brushed against the back of his hand. Why is he crying?
He looked back at the girl and realization dawned upon him with a heavy heart drop. Soon after, a small smile crept upon his face as he prevented the loose chuckle in his throat. Did he just cried because of the thought of losing her? He almost couldn't believe it but his body and heart is far steonger in sensing what he needed than his mind. What is wrong with him? Of all the people in this world why her? Why life want to torture him with something out of his grasp no matter how close they are? Just why?
Was he actually sick in the head, or in his heart. Which one that would affected him the most. If he followed his mind, his heart would be aching for her warmth and comfort. And if he followed his heart, then his mind would lashed out at him for ruining her with all the bad possibility that could happen. He still wanted to be her brother, but he also wanted to be more than that.
Lincoln was pulled out from his thought when he felt some movement coming from the sleeping girl. He turned his head to the side and saw his sister's eyebrows knitted in discomfort while she rolled further to the edge of the bed. Moving on instinst, he quickly raised his right hand and stopped her from falling to the floor. Lincoln then wrapped his right arm behind the girl back and brought her closer to his chest, hugging her in a soft embrace.
The fabric of her pajama brushed against his skin as he could feel her comforting warmth radiating from her small frame and reaching close to his heart. With the close proximity between them, he could clearly hear her gentle heartbeat almost beating in the same pace as him. The beautiful rhythm was so tantalizing that his eyelids slowly feeling much heavier than before.
Her delicate hands clutched against his shirt as Lisa buried her face into his chest, slightly tickling his nose with her lock of brown hair. Instead of backing away, he gently pressed his face into her messy hair and closed his eyes. His right hand stroked through the back of her head while the other softly caressing her cheek in his palm.
Their heartbeats sounds more clear now as they slowly became one like a ticking clock. In the dark room they huddled close together, sharing the comforting warmth between them.
What was he thinking? He don't need more proof that he loves her, he already knew that long time ago. His theory was already proven with all the time he had spent with her. Not to mention how his body would change differently when she was around. Not only her happiness but he also could sense when she was sad or upset as if they were connected by a thread. He never mentioned his feeling to her before and hoped she would never noticed. But, it's funny how wrong he was.
And here he was, cuddling with the girl that he loved the most, a feeling far stronger than his love to his sisters. He broke the barrier between them and willing to carry the burden that it brought.
But at least he wasn't alone, he have her by his side. And that alone was worth it for all the trouble he faced and will in the future. He would do anything so he could wake up tomorrow to see her face, to see her smile, to wipe her tears and to listen to her problem. Everyday was a new day he woke up with her, knowing that his heart was taken care by the girl that loves him back. What is there to regret but the waste of time worrying for the bad to come, not seeing the good in the moment of hardwork.
"Lincoln..." Lisa mumbled in her sleep as he smiled softly when she snuggled her face into his chest. This sensation in his heart growing stronger with her presence and warmth in his arms.
"I'm here Lisa, I will always be here." He whispered, his consciousness slowly leaving him and he eventually fell asleep with his mind at ease. He hoped he could still see her face much longer but his body need to rest. There is still tomorrow, and the day after that, and the next...
He could always see her face, and that was worth all the trouble he went through.
It was warm, a sensation that he has been familiar to but still not completely used with yet. It was still a strange sensation to him but he welcomed it, and glad to share it with her, the love of his life.
It was still early in the morning as some people were still asleep in their houses. For those who were already awake, they were either preparing themselves to start their day for work or making breakfast for their family. The same could also be said with the residents in the Loud house with the parents getting up earlier than their children so they could have time before the others wake up.
The eldest sister, Lori has also gotten up earlier than usual because of her need. She exited her room with a yawn and began heading to the bathroom down the hall, only to stop midway when another door at the end of the hall opened. She turned around and was quite shocked at the sight before narrowing her eyes in curiousity.
Coming out from the recently vacant room, Lincoln stepped out from the opened door while carrying Lisa bridal style in his arms with her head rested on his chest. A calm expression plastered on her face as she shifted slightly before settling back comfortably in his strong muscular arms. Which the oldest sister could see from the outline of his red shirt with an ace shaped A in the middle. He lifted his head, their eyes met and he flashed a small smile that suddenly make her feel much more awake.
"Good morning Lori." Lincoln said as he is still carrying the sleeping girl, not at all struggling or bothered by her weight.
"Good morning Lincoln." Lori greeted back, now completely facing him. Her left hand on her waist while the other pointing at Lisa. "What's the deal with her, why was she in your room?" She asked.
"Lisa was helping me with my homework last night, she got tired and fell asleep in my room before I was done. I don't want to wake her up, so I let her stayed there for the night instead." He replied and began heading to the younger girl room.
"I know she is literally smarter than all of us Lincoln but you can't keep asking her to help you with your homework, she also have her own stuff you know." Lori scolded.
"Yeah I know Lori, sorry." He apologised, stopped midway and looked back the the older girl. "What are you doing up so early anyway?" He inquired.
Lori raised an eyebrow as she tries to remember what she was going to do earlier. Her eyes shot open when she felt the urge building in her neither reigion. Dismissing her brother, Lori quickly ran into the bathroom and closed the door.
Lincoln slowly shook his head in amusement with a smirk on his face at his oldest sister demeanor. She really needed to go, he guessed with a shrug. Soon after, he got into the younger girl's room and walked over to the empty bed before gently lowering the sleeping girl's head onto the pillow. He pulled his arms away from beneath her, took out the glasses from his back pocket and placed it down on her desk. There is still time left before the alarms would wake her and the others up for the day. Since he was already awake, he might as well get ready for school, he could also help his parents to start making breakfast for the girls.
Looking back at the Lisa, Lincoln used his right hand to wipe the brown hair that covered her closed eyes and bent down a little until his lips pressed against her forehead in a tender kiss. He then closed his eyes and leaned his forehead against hers with a small smile. After awhile, he backed away and straightened his back before leaving the room, also closing the door behind him.
As soon as he left, Lisa's eyes opened as she sat on her bed. She raised both of her hands to where his lips met with her skin earlier and a hint of red colored her cheek at the memory. Lifting her head slightly, her heated face still warm as her half lidded eyes stared at her glasses on the desk. Perhaps she should have went into his room much often.
Would he like that?
Meanwhile in the second hallway, Lincoln headed to his room and got his change clothes and towel before going to wait for Lori to finish in the bathroom. It didn't take long since she was already done when he got out from his room. With an exchanged nod between them, Lincoln entered the bathroom while Lori went back to her room but halted when he remember something. The sight of her brother carrying their sleeping sister coming back to her mind.
When she tried to get his attention, the bathroom door was already closed as a new door opened from the room belonged to the jock and goth sisters in the family. Lucy came out and walked past the oldest sister, completey ignoring her presence. From the corner of her eyes, Lori could see some speck of dust on the pale girl's shirt. She almost ask what it was about but stopped when she noticed the dark intensity clouding over the black haired girl. For normal people eyes, it would have seemed like there is nothing different about the usually monotone girl, but for a trained eyes like her, she could sense that there is something wrong with the goth sister.
Lori thought about it for a moment until a conclusion appeared in her head. Upon inspecting the idea much further, she finally shrugged and went into her room to get ready for the day. She made a mental note to buy some additional pads just in case it would come in handy in the future.
A/N Why the hell am I writing this? Oh right, because I wanted to.
