Lisa clasped both of her hands around the mug of hot chocolate and brought it close to her lips, softly blowing over the warm liquid to reduce the heat before taking a sip. The vapour released by the hot substance slightly fogging her thick round glasses but it didn't bother her that much since she could still see through them. She lowered the mug and let a small moan of pleasure escaped from her lips as the sweet flavor of the drink brought joy to her body.
He always knows how to make her drink the way she liked them the most. She don't know why but his was different than any other drink that she ever had before even when their parents was the one who made them. The drink prepared by him held it own special effect towards her as she can't resist from missing the sensation with every taste. It could either be that or she just enjoyed the company of his presence by her side. Eitherway it was warm and comforting, she has nothing serious to complain about other than the recent suspicion rising from the rest of her siblings due to his action.
More worrying since he knew of that fact and still decided to be here with her, risking the possibility of being caught by their sisters. It was reckless, some would even say stupid and careless with how dangerous it was to keep something so abnormal going on in a family of thirteenth.
It wouldn't take much than only a simple mistake to raise the suspicion among their family and risking their relationship being found out so soon. But even with all of that stored in mind, it did little to none affect to her elder male sibling unit who seems calm with their current situation, moreover he seemed content with his decision to be here, something that she was having a hard time to understand.
She was still uncertain with this feeling playing in her heart. Emotions was never her strong suit to begin with but even she would know what she wanted the most. And in her short life, she never needed anything more than him being by her side. He will always be her main priority followed by her family then her love for science and knowledge. She of all people should of understand how dire their situation was, how this would affected both of their lives either for good or worse with how they handled their every actions.
It bothered her a little with how easy he took their situation in consideration. But she believed in him just the same as he believed in her and that was enough to answer her question. Surely, she wasn't the only one who has been thinking about this, if it bothered her, it would also bothered him by a larger scale. He was definitely having it much harder than her even though he wasn't showing it.
She wanted him to be more open with her but it was like his second nature to keep his problem by himself. It wasn't healthy for him to keep doing that especially since now he also have her to share his thought with. He was never alone in this, she always make sure to remind him of that. But, since he was her older brother he always thought that he should be the one to carry all the responsibility by himself.
Lisa lifted her head from her mug and looked at Lincoln who was currently standing near her work desk where her lab equipments were placed. She watched from her seat as he took a step forwards and inserted a code into the panel engraved against the wall. Soon after, the wall retracted to the side, showing a hidden space behind it that only both of them know was there. It was his idea to install it when she brought up her problem to hide her ongoing experiment from their parent acknowledgement.
Although reluctant, he agreed to help her hide the existance of the device from the outside world, keeping the secret only between both of them. It was actually unnecessary for her to be doing so since the device wasn't created with any part that could cause harm or danger to anyone and would only use a small amount of energy to work.
But she was unsure if she could share her discovery with other people yet due to the experiment still being in its early phase. She needed more time to see if her research would actually have the result that she wanted. Without enough information and observation, she didn't have any valid proof to support her research.
A cylinder shaped glass jar containing what could be assumed as green substance appeared from the parted wall, slowly moving until it was out from the space and into their view. A lump of flesh or as she would usually referred to as artificial organic cells floated in the middle of the jar with a few wires attached to different parts of the pulsating organism.
He used to get uncomfortable at the awful sight before but now he was starting to get familiar with it. Her study regarding cells regeneration was still in progress with how precise they needed to handle the experiment due to its sensivity with the environment.
Even a single mistake could easily affect the experiment in many ways, if they used too much energy, the subject would stop pulsating due to over discharge of electricity through the cells, killing them with a current of shock. Too little energy would prevented the subject from growing hence resulting in the insufficient of creating new cells while maintaining the main one. The subject needed a well balance of saturated energy to conduct both of the activities in the same time, and it took them quite a while to figure out the right amount of frequencies to make it work.
The reason for her use of the containment was to put the subject in a safe place far from the unexpected variables in their surrounding, either from the occasional explosion in her room or the constant disturbance by her sisters usual activities around the house. The strong waves of vibration emitted from her sisters was her main concern and reason to install the containment in the first place as to ensure the subject stability to grow. This would be her subject number 45 after so many failed attempts in the past due to the miscalculation, it would have taken her much longer if it wasn't for him being there to help her with every step.
Lincoln tapped his index finger against the glass jar and watched as the floating lump convulsed slightly. "I think its looked much larger than when the last time I saw it." He pointed out, rubbing his chin in his right hand. "And the reflexes is much quicker now to certain exposure, we should really write this down for further observation." He looked at her.
"There is no need to worry male sibling unit, as you can see on the desk, I had already started taking notes of the artificial cells growth." Lisa replied, taking a small sip from her mug.
Lincoln picked up a clipboard from the desk and looked at the information neatly written in the white paper. He smiled at her nice handwriting, stating all the changes and improvement of her ongoing experiment with precise explanation and detail. It definitely didn't suit someone her age.
"What are you smiling at, is there anything humourous with my notes?" Lisa curiously asked as Lincoln turned his head towards her.
"It's nothing, I just thinks your handwriting looks really cute." He replied, taking full expanse at her younger sister embarassment. She lowered her head as her cheeks slightly reddened at his compliment. Holding in a chuckle at her flushed face, he turned the pages of paper on the clipboard and started examining the result of her observation. A certain paragraph caught his attention. "So how much longer do you think this experiment will be going on, if I got anything right from this notes, the subject should still be in its early phase since the bones are not reconstructing yet."
Lisa lifted her head, placed her mug of hot chocolate on the desk and slid down from her seat before walking over to him. She stood infront the glass jar, her right hand slightly fixing the round glasses on the bridge of her nose. "The subject is gaining more masses as we speak right now from the protein supplement provided by the substance, from my calculation it would take a few weeks before the bones will completely grow with the muscle tissues and veins."
"And then we still have the layer of skin to consider as part of the test." He chirped in. "We needs to make sure everything would be functioning properly if we wants this to work." Lincoln placed the clipboard on the desk and rubbed his chin in thought with his eyes closed.
Lisa stares at him from the side, how his face and body stayed completely still while only focusing with a subject in mind. It wasn't unusual for him to suddenly be quiet when he was deep in thought. He didn't do it often infront other people but when he was by himself, he used his time to think everything up, all the logical way to create a better plan. It never bothered her with how much time he would take to collect his thought and honestly for her, she liked this side of him even though he wasn't saying anything.
Lisa leaned closer to her brother, not noticing how much their bodies were pressing against each other and stood on the tip of her toes. Her light brown eyes glimmered beneath her round glasses as she slowly closed the distance between their faces. But still even with her full effort, it wasn't enough to get her anywhere closer than she already is with their height difference in the way. Lowering her gaze, she sighed in defeat and let herself down on her feets, already giving up on her attempts to claim what belongs to her.
She jumped a little with a squeal when Lincoln ran his hands along her back and rested on her butt, startling her as she was lifted slightly from the floor. It didn't take long before her eyes met with his and her cheek heated up at the sight of his teasing smile. She was now in the same height as him, having nothing to separate them anymore. She avoided looking into his eyes, already knowing what she would see in them due to her action earlier.
She hid her blushing face from his gaze as her arms rested on his chest, her curled fingers softly clutching into his orange polo shirt. She wished for anything so she could just disappear from facing the embarassment right now and yet her body did nothing to pull away from his touch, comfortably being embraced in his warmth and familiar scent.
This is what wrong with her. This feeling that somehow without a logical explanation left her in a state of a mess infront her elder brother. A state where she couldn't quite find the right words to explain what was happening in her body. A chemical reaction colliding in her brain, releasing a certain sensation throughtout the entire fiber of her being making her physique feel warmer for some reason. And the warmth only grew stronger while seeking for the material of her desire, waiting for his soft touches and gentle whispers against her sensitive skin. She hated this feeling and yet she gladly accepted it as long as she can be with him. She just wanted that so much even when she tried so hard denying it.
It was unfortunate that their kind of relationship didn't stand a chance against the society, not to mention the large gap between their ages. But that would no longer be a problem after she reached the legal age. Then the possibility of their relationship going further will no longer be something that they can only talked about from time to time. It will definitely work between them with more opportunities that will be shown in the various future. The question is if they could actually wait until then.
"You're not so sneaky on your approach Lise." Lincoln nudged his nose teasingly against hers, lifting her face slightly up so he could see into her eyes. He chuckled at the thick fog covering the surfaces of her round glasses, hiding her eyes from his view. She clutched his shirt tighter, not wanting to let him go while snuggling her head into the crook of his neck. She missed this familiar sensation of secure in his warmth enveloping her small frame.
"Lise?" Lincoln inquired, receiving no response from the younger girl. He could feel her warmth absorbed by her green turtleneck sweater radiating against his skin, making his cheek slightly red from the intense intimacy shared between them. His heart skipped a beat when she breathed a warm breath against his neck, sending a shiver down his spine. He is liking this way too much.
"C-come on Lise, w-we're not done yet organizing the... rest of the r-research." He struggled to say, his flushed face matched hers. His heart pounded against his chest, beating faster than before at the beautiful sight filling his vision.
Lincoln gently laid her back on the desk and bent down over the flustered girl, planting both of his hands on either sides of her head. She released his shirt and ran her hands up along his chest until they stopped at the crook his neck as her soft palms brushing against his heating skin.
"T-the research." He muttered, though his mind was already clouded with the tempting sight before him.
Lincoln reached for her glasses, lifted it up from her nose and put them beside her head on the table, revealing her beautiful light brown eyes staring back at him like a pond of murky water in the middle of autumn. It was cold and distant yet so inviting for him to get closer, the longer he looked into them, the more his heart begged for him to take her in his arms, giving her all the love he had even if he won't have any left for himself. It was a strange feeling but he was already growing accustomed to it, embracing the truth with open arms.
He stares at her slightly parted lips as her warm breath brushed against his skin. Instead of backing away, he got closer to the girl, pressing his stomach against hers as her legs hung by either sides of his waist from the edge of the desk. Lincoln lowered his face to hers, their lips almost touching when Lisa suddenly covered his mouth in her palms, stopping him immediately. Her squinted eyes averted to the side with her cheeks bright red at his close proximity.
"Poo-poo!" His eyes widened at the familiar mumbles. A chuckle soon escaped from his lips still being covered in her hands.
Lincoln turned his head at the source of the sound and sure enough, Lily was looking at them with narrowed eyes while standing at the rail of her cribs. They must have been bothering her nap earlier.
"I suggest... we continue this later, forgive me for the inconveniences." Lisa said, lowering her head slightly in disappointment.
"It's fine, this is also my fault, I almost forget this is also Lily's room." He picked up her glasses and straightened his back as Lisa sat on the edge of the desk. He wiped the fog from her glasses and placed them back on the bridge of her nose. "Do you think she will remember any of this?" He asked, looking back at the pouting baby.
"Most people forget their memory when they were an infact, although Lily is quite smart for someone her age, I wouldn't be concerned with her current knowledge of our relationship. We might need to cease our meeting in the future since she will be old enough to understand what we're doing, but that will still take a few years to happen." She replied, pushing her glasses slightly up her nose.
Lincoln watched as she returned to her seat and hold a mug in both of her hands. "That would definitely be a rough time." He chuckled while rubbing his white hair. "But, I can wait, I will always wait for you no matter what happens."
The corner of her lips curved slightly as she took a quick sip from the mug only to wince soon after at the unfamiliar taste.
"What's wrong?" He worriedly asked, quickly making his way to the spectacled girl. Upon getting closer to her, he realized that she accidentally mistaken his mug of coffee as her drink.
"It's bitter." Lisa softly muttered, lifting her head to look at him as he stopped infront of her. "Even for an average caffeine, this is far bitter than how it would usually be served." She pointed out, now looking at him with slight concern in her pleading eyes. Lincoln tried looking away from her but he could still feel her gaze bore into his soul.
"Lincoln?" His shoulder tensed at her worried voice, almost as if she was begging for him yo be honest with her and his heart broke.
Letting out a sigh, he looked at her with a small smile plastered onto his face, his right hand gently threading through her messy brown hair. "I'm not sure when it started, I used to hate the taste of coffee before especially without the milk." He pulled his hand away. "But now, the bitter taste kind of already becoming a part of my life." He said with shame in his voice.
"This is all like a dream to me, you and me actually being together even with all the things that can easily separate us. I almost can't believe it, everything felt so... unreal." He whispered the last words.
"I guess I just needs something bitter in my life to remind me that this is not a dream." He chuckled humorlessly. "Besides, life can't always be sweet and happy all the time, there must be a little bit of bitter and pain to show that it is real." He looked at her with a soft smile.
"After all of that, the pain I went through will definitely be worth it just to see your face again when I wake up the next day and all the following day after that. It will all be worth it just so I can be with you..." A faint shade or red painted his cheek when he realized what he just said to his younger sister.
"Sorry if it sounds stupid..." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I should hav-"
"No." Lisa interrupted him. "I-I don't think what you said is stupid." She looked at the mug of coffee in her hands and brought it close to her lips, drinking it with her eyes closed as Lincoln watched in shock.
"Lise, what are you doing? Stop, you're still too young to be drinking coffee." He softly pulled the mug away from her lips while clasping his hands over hers.
"You don't need to be alone Lincoln, you have me, we will share the sweet and bitter of life together." Lisa bluntly said with a blank stare but it was enough to send his heart into a rush of affection towards her. How can she said that with a straight face?
"Sure, b-but I'm still not allowing you to drink my coffee, it's not good for your health." He took his mug away from her.
"It's bitter." Lisa commented again.
"If you don't mind, I can make it much sweeter for you?" He smirked teasingly, bringing his face closer to hers.
"Poo-poo!" Right Lily.
