Waking up to a blinding light and cold stone beneath me, my entire body felt like dead weight on the ocean floor. Rising up and feeling my head swirl my surrounding for a moment, it took a second to realize I was not alone.

"She wakes...I'm surprised so soon." Toga spoke with a slight surprise coloring his voice.

"You really believe her to have the priestess' power?" Sesshomaru seemed doubtful, eyeing her coldly and standing afar. Toga nodded only once before making his way over and extending his hand out.

"..." I looked at the offer but didn't take it.

"Do you prefer the ground?" Asking in a rather mocking tone, I took his hand and was raised off the ground with ease when something felt heavy on the small of my back.

Turning around and seeing nothing at first, my peripheral vision caught sight of a tail swishing as I moved and I didn't catch it was mine at first until I grabbed it and yelped.

"WHAT IS THIS?!"
Both were completely unfazed by this and only stared at me.
"I have a tail! How did I end up getting a tail?!"

"The priestess before you was a fox. Surely seeing her gave that much away." Toga was amused by my frantic ways and crossed his arms watching me. "The tail suits you."
Again with the mocking and condescending tone!

"No tail suits me!" Taking hold of 'my' tail and trying to understand what was happening to me, I dropped it and reached for my head and found no ears popping out. "Oh thank goodness...I really didn't want ears on my head..." relieved that I wasn't fully turned into some beast, Sesshomaru still kept his distance and did not stare at me for long periods of time. When Toga moved I watched as he pulled out his sword and showed it to me.

"Now then, Clara, your duty needs to be fulfilled. Bind my fang to your foxfire and replenish its power over the dead." Stating it matter-of-factly as if I know what to do, I just stared dumbfoundedly at him.

"...say what?" He narrowed his eyes and the air got heavy.

"The priestess' mind should have transferred over to you with your task. Why are you acting as if you know nothing?" He was frustrated and short with his temper. The slight nice-guy act he was pulling no longer a factor.

"...I don't even understand what is happening to me, Toga. How am I to understand a task never mentioned?"
That was the wrong reply to give. His entire face darkened and when he sheathed his blade he approached in the most menacing fashion I'd seen and I fell backwards.

"Are you trying my patience?"

"NO! I really know nothing!"
Scared to what he would do and crawling away until I could regain my footing to run, I ran down the corridor as fast as I could and spun around a pillar to turn a corner. Not knowing where to go or where I would even hide, I felt many eyes watching me as I ran. Each passing stranger made me panic more and more and something inside my chest felt like it was burning! Not stopping for even a second and finding myself running faster and faster until reaching the outside I found myself leaping into the air rather than run down the flight of steps and gasped to the height. Unable to stop now and letting gravity take hold as I drop, something grabbed me from behind and I felt my body crash into a hard plate.

"Brave of you to run from my father," hearing Sesshomaru and caught in his grasp, I turned to face him to plead mercy when I caught him smiling?! "The look on my father's face was priceless," actually laughing, he was showing more expression than I thought he could make. It caught me completely off guard. "Do you truly not know what you have to do?" Trying to recollect himself, he eyed me to speak the truth and all I could do was nod in response. "Then what of my own fang," putting me down and unsheathing his blade, I felt awkward not knowing what to do until I saw my reflection in the sheen of his sword. I felt strange when looking at it and my hand moved towards the blade on its own and I felt my mind go fuzzy.

[That's it my child...follow the blade and let it speak to you.]

My movement was rigid at first when I approached, but the moment I touched his hand and felt power pulse I felt I knew exactly what to do with it. The tail I now have swished side to side while I placed both hands on his and kept staring at the blade. It glowed blue, light and fluttery, to a deeper color like the depths of the sea itself and fire spewed from beneath my feet. Not flinching, unwavering as I kept hold, this burning sensation in my palms seemed to seep into the blade itself from my own fingertips and I watched the blade return to its natural silver gleam seconds after the fire put itself out.

"That answers that," Sesshomaru seemed highly pleased of what I had done and placed a free hand on my shoulder. "My father wished for the priestess to keep bestowing power onto his fang...now that her reign ended a new one has to begin. So this is what he intended for you to do for him." He looked as though he figured it all out and I got out of my haze and was standing here dumbfounded.

"...I have no idea what I just did though." Looking at my hands, not believing I just had fire spew from my own body, it didn't feel real but I knew better than to deny it seeing it play out like that.

"In short, you are my priestess from now on." He was thrilled from the looks of it and even so much as guided me back inside the temple to see his father still in the same spot I left him. "Father, I bring news." Stepping forward and keeping me behind him, Toga seemed scarier than before when I ran away that I was shocked Sesshomaru didn't flinch approaching him. "The priestess bestowed her foxfire onto my fang the same way the other did for you. Seems as though the power has now passed to the next generation." His proud stance against his father showing he was confident in his statement made me perplexed in more ways than one!

"I see," he seemed defeated, but as he closed his eyes and unwrapped his arms, he looked to Sesshomaru in a new light. "Then from here you are now a man. As my son you are now to be a Lord of your own lands. With this priestess blessing your fang you now have the power to rule any land of which you choose."

"I'm grateful, father." Bowing his head and seeing some kind of ceremony take place, Toga made him raise his head and did something to his forehead. Unable to see what he did at first and watching him take Sesshomaru's face in his hands, he quickly scratched him!

"Your marks into adulthood has now been finished. Bear these marks with pride as you seek your land."

Sesshomaru bowed his head once more, grateful to the wounds he received and faced me. I felt my breath hitch seeing the blood on his face, but in seconds I realized something else. As he got closer I was able to see past the blood to the markings he got and noticed a crescent moon on his forehead.

[A fate worse than death…you walk a thorny path that will not make things easy for you. If you value your life you would steer clear from the moon child and live a peaceful life. Take on the moon child and you will have to face hardships unheard of]

The words from the phantom fortune teller rang in my head and I gulped loudly knowing that this was reality but wishing it was a nightmare. As I gazed at him walking towards me with a prideful stare I had to admit my own demise that my fortune of meeting these two was actually already predicted and this is what I was warned to stay away from.
