Beware the Batman fanfic – Bring on the Badguys!

It's March and still no BtB. At least I have the DVD set for the first season but I got a sinking feeling that when the next chapter comes out, the opening text will be 'it's April and still no BtB'. Alas.

Enough being depressed. This is without a doubt the most meta story I've ever written. You need to see 'Attraction' to understand the setup. If you haven't, the short story is Magpie falls in love with Batman after he visits her in prison and breaks out to kill Katana in a jealous rage. Batman finally breaks it to Magpie that he visited to help her. He does not love her at all. It left her… upset. So she ended up back in jail and Batman feeling sorrow.

Part Six:

Cat Girl

Wealthy wrongdoer Jezebel Jet punched out the first attacker before she spun around and gave the second a chin kick before dropping low to knee-cap the third. None of them got up. One wasn't even breathing.

"Not bad, if I say so myself. Especially in these heels." She gave a deep chuckle and strutted off the training mat to look at herself in the gym's mirror.

The outfit Dr. Hurt provided her was quite girly yet still sexy. It was a black bodysuit with jagged pink strips running alongside her ribcage like cat whiskers. A cute emblem of a kitty bell was embroiled over her breasts. She wore knee-high pink heels, pink rhinestone armbands, a white gem-encrusted utility belt and a matching white jeweled pet collar. Her insidiously beautiful face was completely covered by a skintight black mask with pink cat ears and opaque eyepieces.

Jezebel smirked over the formfitting outfit that fit her nicely. "This should get the Bat's attention and draw him into our web."

"Indeed it shall, Jezebel. The mark will have no idea he's being played." Dr. Hurt agreed as he walked over to his accomplish and handed her a file. "Further sessions with my new patient have forced me to rewrite your character. Classy cat-burglar Cat Girl is no longer suffering from delusions that she was murdered by the mob and resurrected by cats. You are now the victim of crooked cops who killed your big sister to keep her from testifying against them."

Cat Girl grabbed the file and started memorizing it. "Good because I thought the original story was too stupid to be believable. But why the change, dear doctor?"

"I learned from our Ms. Sorrow's recent breakout from Blackgate caused Batman to be on edge with regards to her and potentially all imbalanced individuals. If we used your original story it would only cause him to keep you at arm's length. Cat Girl's new character will be a playful devil may care thief who will not harm innocents or children. Just the type to bait the bat into our trap."

Jezebel smiled viciously beneath her cat mask and was about to say something cruel when there was a male scream coming from Hurt's lab.

Doctor Hurt shrugged. "It would seem that my patient has injured another of my orderlies." There was a loud crash "and managed to escape her cell." another scream "and injured another orderly."

"Like any of those jackboot thugs you hired have a medical degree." Cat Girl scoffed.

Magpie kicked opened door and leapt in front of Hurt and the honey trap. "HURT! YOU LIED TO ME! YOU DON'T ME TO WIN BATMAN! YOU WANT TO KILL HIM!"

"I know." Simon said bluntly. "I told you that I wanted the details on your talks with Batman to help you win him. Of course it was a lie. All I wanted was details of your meetings to profile him and, in turn, break him. Which I have now. My beautiful colleague here now knows how to act to make Batman trust and love her."

"Like he wouldn't love you." Cat Girl mocked Magpie. "Because you're crazy and unlovable, Margaret."

Magpie's eyes bulged. She popped out her fingernail claws and howled. "I'LL KILL YOU! NO ONE CAN HAVE HIM BUT ME! DIE!"

"Brief bloom."

Magpie froze, her eyes glazing over as her nail-claws retracted upon hearing Hurt. After a few seconds she started to blink again. Her anger was gone, instead she looked scared and disorientated. She looked at the two curiously, especially the full figured woman in the pink and black cat costume. Then she gazed around the gym, lost and confused. Then she saw herself in a full length mirror in her skimpy outfit.

"Whaaaaaaa! What am I wearing?!" She covered her bosom with one hand and her leather panties with the other then began panicking. "What is this?! Why am I wearing this?! Why are you wearing that?! Who are you?! Where am I?!"

"You're in Hell, Cassie; and there's no escape from it." Dr. Hurt smiled jollily, laughing at her predicament.

"And if you're wondering why you're here; it's because I still need practice with my signature weapon." Cat Girl picked up a whip that was lying on the floor and raised it over her head. She gave a hearty laugh, the kind of laughing that deeply disturbed people made, and with that the whip was cracked.

Cassie's screams filled the halls of Hurt's hospital. As the hours pass, her screams grow weaker and her voice goes hoarse before fading into quiet sobs. Jezebel's laughter never stopped.

Poor Cassie. She's in for a long night.

Am I the only one who thought the conflict in 'Attraction' would have been avoided if Katana just told Magpie she already had a boyfriend? Truthfully that episode is what made me do this one. I had planned to do a retake on White Knight but seeing Batman sorrow over Magpie's madness made me change my mind. Plus, I've been wanting to go back to Dr. Hurt as I felt that chapter is weakest. I didn't show how dangerous he was or what would make him a good baddie for the show so that's why he has such a large role here.

For those who don't know, Cat Girl is Catwoman's sidekick and possible little sister. Her outfit is what Catwoman's would be if Selena Kyle shopped at Hot Topic. It's so pink and girly that it looks like it belongs on a Bratz' doll. I tweaked it a bit for Jezebel Jet.

I really wanted to avoid make Jezebel into a Catwoman copy as the show's writers did for Magpie. I was at a loss until it finally clicked. If you look at all her traits, Jezebel Jet comes off as a total Mary Sue: Beautiful, brilliant, wise, rich, lonely, an orphan, a tragic backstory, and everyone keeps going on and on over how beautiful she is and Bruce Wayne's perfect match. She's like that because that was the type to lure Bruce Wayne into Hurt's trap. Since Hurt here doesn't know Bruce is Batman, Jezebel is instead molded into Batman's perfect match, Catwoman. And thus the bait is set.

Like I said in the pre-word, this is the most meta story I've ever written. I really feel proud writing this. The only thing that could make me happier is if CN renews BtB for a second season. Any day now Cartoon Network will announce the Fall 2014 lineup and I'm hoping that BtB will be on that list. Keep your fingers cross.
