Chapter 14 – Twas Once Dust in the Wind
When Rethe woke up she felt so much better, being in her own watery basin. Flouting next to her precious lover who seemed to be still sleeping. She couldn't blame him; he'd had a hard day yesterday. And who knew what side effects Levilahs' spell would have on him. And walking all that way carrying her, he must have been so exhausted. She touched his cheek and his hand rose to cover hers as he opened his golden eyes to look fondly at her. "Good morning my pearl." He said smiling squeezing her hand gently. He pulled it down to his lips and kissed her hand making her blush. "I love that after all the time we've been together I can still make you blush." Sidon smiled and leaned closer and kissed her neck making her giggle.
"Good morning to you too." She sighed swimming closer nuzzling him. She was just so happy to be back home and for him to be back to normal. He hugged her closer kissing her gently, it slowly got deeper, but before they got too far the image of him under the spell, eyes black, full of lust filled her mind, she broke away. She moved away, pulling her legs under herself. Why was that affecting her so much? It hadn't been his fault... He was under the spell, in Rut, somewhere in his mind he must have known that they were mates… It was Levilah's fault that she couldn't even face her own mate in bed. How could she?
"Rethe? What's the matter?" Sidon asked in worry. She shook her head as she looked back at him.
"It's nothing really, I'm just not…" Sidon moved forward and hugged her gently.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have, not after yesterday…" He said in apology while holding her close. He had absolutely no idea why he still thought it was all because she had almost been raped by that filthy eel… He had to keep himself from growling aloud, lest he would upset her more.
"No, it's not your fault." Rethe said solemnly. She looked away as he rubbed her back in a comforting motion.
"I'm your mate I should have been able to protect you. Least of all succumb to her magic…" Sidon said frustrated. Rethe pulled away and looked him in the face. She could see the turmoil in his eyes and it bothered her greatly.
"Sidon, I understand you want to protect me, but you're just one Zora, trying to fight against that witch who has it out for me. It's all just crazy, she'll end up hurting anyone I love just to get to me… I should be the one protecting you." She hiccupped as a sob rocked her. "And I can't even do that! She already had you under her spell once!" Sidon could see the fear in her eyes, the remorse. "I don't want to lose you." She buried her face in his chest. Sidon growled aloud this time; he couldn't stand to see her like this. So afraid so fragile… That woman… she nearly killed his pearl… she would die a thousand deaths. When he figured out how to get rid of that magic, she placed on Rethe, he would pounce.
"I won't let her come near you again…" Rethe knew that probably wouldn't work, Levilah didn't have to come near her to hurt her... And she'd find a way to get them apart. But Sidon was stubborn about keeping her safe. She looked up at him and smiled weakly. She assumed it was his male pride. She just rested her forehead against his. All of this was stressing her out again, to think she woke up in such good spirits. As long as Levilah was around they'd find no peace. She would allow Sidon to think that she was calmed. There was no point in making him worry about her.
"She won't kill me Sidon… she needs me as a shield." she sighed and caressed his cheek before she kissed him as he did the same to hers. "Let's get some breakfast huh? I'm starving." She said trying to change the subject. That and she was hungry, so it wasn't a bad change. He smiled unable to stay upset. He didn't want her to remain that way.
"Of course, my Pearl, we should get something, if you're famished." Sidon said his stomach gave a rumble and he blinked. Apparently, she wasn't the only one who needed a good meal this morning if it was even still morning.
"Looks like I'm not the only one." She slid out of his embrace taking his hand, the two of them walked out of the water together. The sun looked like it much higher in the sky than they had first anticipated. They both dressed in their Zora attire which had to be replaced. Although Sidons' armor had been lost to the eels, it had to be completely redone, which would take a few days. It didn't feel quite the same as his old attire. Sidon was no longer the crown prince so this wasn't bad. It reminded him of what he used to wear when he was younger, but made for his adult form. And Rethe was given royal attire to fit her royal status. She wasn't sure if she could get used to wearing so much jewelry. Sidon grabbed the last piece topping her head with a headdress headband that had small spires going over the top and stars and moons dangling from the sides on her head flippers. She was so beautiful he almost forgot to breath. "There perfect."
"Sidon?" she asked uncertainly. He smiled taking in a breath. Caressing her cheek with the back of his hand.
"So beautiful." He murmured. She smiled blushing furiously.
"I-It's just some extra jewelry Sidon." She argued with a bit of a stutter. She was taken off guard when she felt him slip his arms around her.
"Perhaps, but it looks so good on you." He said drawing her closer. She blushed, but if she didn't quell this she knew exactly where it would lead and… that image popped into her head again. She felt her mood go down.
"We'll never make it to breakfast at this rate love." She said trying not to sound downbeat.
"I can't help it you're so intoxicating." Rethe made an unimpressed face as her stomach growled loudly.
"I can be intoxicating later! I'm starving here…" she whined pulling away, heading towards the door. Sidon simply smiled at her following close behind her like a lovesick puppy. When they reached the dining hall, they were greeted by everyone. Mipha jumped up to greet them both having been so worried when they had returned in such bad shape. Even after receiving medical attention and pampering Mipha had still worried about them.
"Oh Sidon! Rethe!" she said bear hugging them both. "I'm so glad you're awake." she said emotionally as she continued to hold them tightly. Rethe had been in such bad shape and Sidon was completely exhausted.
"Oh Mipha…" Rethe said in an apologetic tone. "I'm so sorry you had to see all that…"
"We're alright now sister." Sidon freed one of his arms and wrapped it around her too. Mipha continued to hold on until she pulled away to check them both over. Sidon could see the bags under Mipha's eyes, it worried him. Had she not slept? She pushed them apart and looked them both over.
"You look well enough… you must be famished. How is your shoulder today Rethe?" She said in a troubled voice.
"Yes, your shoulder. A good night's rest should have revitalized your grace shouldn't it have?" Sidon exclaimed and Mipha sort of nodded.
"Tura will be here soon to check it, so do not fret." Mipha said in good spirits.
"It's sore but it's fine I think…" Rethe said as she lifted her arm a bit. It didn't hurt as much as it did yesterday. Mipha made a face.
"I was afraid with how worn out you both were, but I suppose it scared me more when you didn't wake up..." Mipha had no idea just how worn out they had been.
"Don't tell me I was asleep for days again! Sidon why didn't you say anything!?" She looked at him questioningly, but he looked just as confused as she was.
"He didn't know, you both were asleep… for the last day is all…" Mipha explained. Oh Nayru… Rethe looked at Sidon who looked at Rethe and they both looked at Mipha. No wonder they were so hungry…
"I've never slept through a whole day… I'm so sorry for worrying you sister." Sidon said apologetically.
"Don't feel bad though I still hold the record for the longest sleeper." Rethe smiled, but Sidon didn't.
"That wasn't funny I was really scared for you." Rethe frowned, but gave him a soft smile, making sure to mentally insert her foot in her mouth...
"I know, I'm sorry, I was trying to lighten the mood… but it also made us realize something very important." Sidon smirked.
"Just so you know I would do it again to save you, my pearl." He took her hand and kissed her knuckles gently. Mipha eyed them both for a second before she guided them to the table where they sat themselves down.
"So now that you are awake tell me everything that transpired while you fill your stomachs." She waved to a servant who came to her side.
"Please Mipha give us a little bit of time…" Sidon said as he looked over at Rethe who looked like she'd rather do anything but that. Mipha frowned, but she understood deciding to leave it alone for now.
"Please have the kitchen prepare some food for my brother and Lady Rethe…" she turned back to them. "I apologize, I will not push the subject." Mipha gave Rethe a sympathetic look. If Rethe didn't want to talk about it, then it must have been hell…
"Yes Princess Mipha!" the servant left quickly and she returned to her seat.
"Thank you for understanding Mipha." Sidon nodded. Mipha gave a rueful smile.
"I know what it's like Sidon. You don't have to thank me." She seemed to have a distant look in her eyes. She of all Zora knew what this kind of trauma could do. She may not of remembered her death clearly, but last night she had a nightmare that shook her. One that she couldn't quite remember when she awoke. But it was enough to keep her awake all night. It made her miss Link even more than she already did. Soon a servant returned with two trays of freshly cooked fish and set them down before them. Rethe was almost drooling and attacked her food with gusto. She was keeping up with Sidon no problem.
"May I have seconds?" Rethe asked shyly. She didn't think she'd ever been so hungry.
"Of course, you may." Mipha giggled. She was happy to see they both had a healthy appetite after their ordeal. After their second helping Sidon looked around curiously.
"Mipha... Where is father? Has he not yet returned?" Sidon asked. Miphas' face grew apprehensive.
"They should have been back by now, shouldn't they of Rethe?" Mipha explained. Sidon still couldn't understand why his father volunteered for this mission.
"He's coming back Mipha. They're both coming back." Rethe said gazing across the table serious. "Link and your father will return. I know it, I just feel it in my heart that they're okay." She finished and Sidon placed a hand on hers with a smile. Mipha also managed a small smile, Rethe was so optimistic even after everything.
"Thank you for the kind words, you have lifted my spirits some." Mipha said.
"Some is indeed better than none." Sidon said giving his sister an encouraging smile although he too was worried. "If Rethe believes in her heart than we must too! I've always believed in Link and our father as well." Mipha was taken aback. She was so full of worry; she had forgotten her own teachings to always believe in those you love. She smiled brighter.
"You're right Sidon, I do believe in Link and in father. I shouldn't be sitting here worrying I should be preparing for their arrival back home."
"That's right sister believe in them!" giving his fist a shake of enthusiasm and his signature grin. Rethe looked down a bit feeling terrible for lying to Sidon by not telling him what had really happened. Was it bad keeping the truth from him? If it would keep him from beating himself up over it later? She finished her second plate quickly taking Sidon by the hand and pulled him up. Mipha appeared behind them.
"Where are you two off to in such a hurry?" Mipha asked grinning devilishly.
"Just to the chambers." Rethe explained and Mipha's grin only got bigger as she misinterpreted.
"Oh alright, try not to be too loud." This made both Sidon and Rethe blush hard. "Don't think I didn't notice you two have synced up even if it's just for a few days." Rethe blinked she hadn't even realized she was in estrus yet. Hers didn't begin till late summer… Although thinking about it now, she has been unusually moody. "Judging by that look… you didn't even realize, did you?" Mipha asked. "Sidon you two are supposed to be being careful!?" Sidon let out an exasperated sigh.
"I wasn't even paying attention, but it's not like we were exactly mating that often." Sidon said. Mipha shook her head. "Father was never good with the mating talk…. Thing..."
"No, he wasn't." she remembered when her father tried to explain things to her it was… unpleasantly awkward to say the least. "I'm sorry Sidon I wasn't here for you…" Mipha said looking down.
"No Mipha don't, it's the past and it wasn't your fault…" Sidon gently grabbed her shoulders. "We shouldn't be dwelling on it, you're here now and that's all that matters." Sidon said and Mipha smiled. "Awkward pep talk aside I love you, and I'm so happy you're here." He turned to Rethe. "Crazy sister aside, you brought my sister back to me and my father and you're cute and funny, you talk while you sleep. You're always fun to be around and you like to race me. I love the way you laugh and that you stand up for what you believe in. And I will always be there to back you up because I love you and I'll always protect you. You complete me." He leaned forward and kissed her deeply. Rethe blinked, but kissed him back suddenly feeling guilty again. If she told him what happened when he was under the spell…
"Well in any case we need to plan the…" Sidon moved like lightning and covered Mipha's mouth.
"Plan the day, already gotcha covered Mipha so drop it okay." Sidon said giving her a little nudge. Mipha gave him a skeptical look. She removed his hand a little more forcibly than she intended.
"Okay then, but you better see me later." She said grabbing his sash and pulling him down to her level. "For some family time." Sidon laughed nervously.
"Yeah, of course, I'll come see you after Rethe shows me whatever it is she wanted to show me."
"Oh no, go ahead it wasn't really that important! Don't worry I'll be always be in the guards line of sight." Rethe said thoughts flooding her head.
"Alright as long as you stay in the castle." Sidon said as he kissed her once more before he departed. "Don't forget Tura is coming, she must be running behind."
"Don't worry I wasn't planning on leaving." She waved here hand dismissively, heading back to their room. Once there she made sure that she was alone with her thoughts. Oh, goddess she was in estrus! While Sidon was under that spell! It was no wonder! He was acting on instinct, in rut, and smelled a female in estrus. How would he take that? How would any male take that!? It could have been any female in estrus! But also, that's why he had been going nuts around her, Voltar ew ew ew ew ew ew! Usually, males not in rut could contain themselves, but he had been drunk and not even trying to hide his desire. Everything was so complicated now, since she was in estrus, she had to stay away from Sidon. They couldn't afford to become fertilized now, not with Levilah around. Just a few more days, Sidons' Rut cycle would be over, he would be able to control himself. But Rethe always hated estrus… moodiness and all that lovely stuff that came with.
She was just so overwhelmed by everything she didn't know what to do. So, she put her head in her hands and just cried. There was a knock on the door and Tura entered with an enthusiastic Leetha in tow. The two stopped when they saw their friend was so distraught. "Rethe? Whatsa matter?" Leetha asked cocking her head to the side concerned. She sat the bag she was carrying down and ran over and wrapped her soft feathered hands around her friend. Rethe broke down and told them everything that had happened. Tura listened as she checked her bandages, checking her wound seeing that it hadn't healed much since she had checked on it last. Meaning her grace was not regenerating, so her sister was draining it away every chance she got, like she had said. But after hearing what had transpired between her and Sidon Tura began to worry. "What are you going to do if you're pregnant?" Leetha asked. If Rethe could have turned paler she probably would have.
"Leetha…" Tura said in annoyance… She had wanted to bring it up more gently.
"What? It's a fair question after everything she just told us." Leetha said.
"I can't tell Sidon what happened, he'll never forgive himself."
"You don't give him enough credit Rethe. Sure, he was under a spell, but it wasn't his fault. He didn't know what he was doing."
"I-I do give him credit it's just… It's even more reason he'll beat himself up over it." Rethe said in worry, Tura sighed over her anxiety. They had a right to be anxious she supposed after everything. But Sidon had a right to know everything that happened.
"Listen, there's an herbal seaweed balm that will tell us if you're pregnant. It has a bioluminescent that when placed on pregnant females it glows almost immediately." Tura said.
"Is it fool proof?" Rethe asked uncertain.
"99.99% they're always pregnant! So don't worry we'll try the seaweed balm just to be certain. And if you are." Tura said with a serious look. "You must tell Sidon the truth. Keeping him in the dark won't help either of you." Rethe looked down at her shoulder knowing she was right… She frowned seeing the meat was still exposed but it looked better than it had, even with all the stitches. Tura had opted to put them in since it hadn't started healing with her grace. Once it was all clean and air-dried Tura placed more antiseptic on the wound and dressed it again. "I am out of the seaweed to make the balm currently; I'm going to have to go and acquire some more. It will only take me a day trip." Tura explained as she packed up her supplies. Rethe looked more worried than she had before. Leetha patted her back.
"Don't worry Re, I'm sure you're not." Rethe smiled weakly up at the Rito. Leetha frowned; she didn't know how to cheer her friend up. Especially in this kind of situation. "Well even if you are, you'll always have me as a babysitter!" Leetha said cheerfully.
"Zora hatchlings aren't like Rito chicks Leetha. They must stay in water and feed off their yolk sacks until they are 3-4 weeks old. After that they can move up to small regurgitated fish bits."
"Sounds pretty easy to me!" Leetha exclaimed.
"Stick to the older ones Leetha." Tura said with a smile. "And Rethe please try to take it easy." Rethe nodded and Tura grabbed up her things and Leetha patted her back. After the two left Rethe's mind again started flying with thoughts. Pregnant?! What if she was pregnant!? Oh Nayru… After a while Sidon returned, but was alarmed to see her crying on the sofa and rushed over to hold her against him. "Rethe? What happened?" he spoke softly. She rested her head on his chest.
"I'm sorry Sidon… we're going to have to sleep apart until these cycles end. We can't afford to get fertilized right now…" if they weren't already… Oh Nayru please let it not be the case…
"I understand how you feel, but that doesn't mean we have to be apart." He lifted her chin so he could look at her. "We just have to show some restraint."
"Can we even do that?" she asked sniffling.
"Of course, couples have been doing it for hundreds of years before us." He chuckled trying to lighten the mood. "But we only must worry about it once a year. Please don't cry." He pet her head tail gently. "My Pearl… Is there something you wanted to talk to me about?" Rethe stiffened in his arms. Oh no… Did he catch on? Or did he remember something? "Please tell me the truth… bites only happen after a male has…" he took a breath. "Finished…" She couldn't look at him. How could she, Rethe was at a loss for words. How was he going to react? "Did that Eel… defile you, my Pearl?" She could hear the anger he was trying so hard to hold back.
Earlier – On the outskirts of the Rito village
Levilah and a small band of her most skilled warriors rode in on their elk towards the Rito village. The chill in the air was annoying and they dressed according. It wasn't often Zora wore any type of clothing, but in this region, it wasn't an ideal climate for them. So, they had to stay warm somehow. Levilah found the outfit was very uncomfortable and constricting. Hylians were stupid for wearing so much. Unlike Rito who could handle the weather. But even she knew you should not stay where you could not survive. Hylians were just stupid that way. They spread everywhere, like a disease…. She held up her hand pulling her elk to a halt stopping the others behind her, seeing the Devine Beast Vah Medoh flying overhead. Levilah climbed down and handed the reigns to Voltar. "Stay out of sight from the sky… you remember the call?" she asked.
"Yes, my Princess." Voltar responded.
"Light the signal fire only then so I can find you… and douse it just as quickly…" he nodded knowing the plan. I will return before the night is over…." She said as she turned, while flipping up the hood of her cloak. Voltar bowed atop his elk and turned him to walk back into the forest.
Levilah continued on foot, while the rest followed Voltar and left to hide out in the designated spot. She walked with poise and held herself with dignity. She was suddenly stopped by a Rito harpy eagle standing up in a tree. "Halt! Who goes there?" His large stature towering over her yet she showed no fear, in fact she smiled. She put on her best innocent persona.
"I am a simple traveler sir Rito…" He flew down and landed right in front of her. Rounding her once checking her over. She watched him do so.
"A traveler?" He asked a little disbelieving. "Traveling a bit light, aren't you?"
"What I pack is none of your business. What I need is wings. I'll make it worth your while." She said pulling a bag of Rupees from her cloak. Levilah held it out to him and the Rito merely scoffed and shook his head.
"Outsiders are forbidden on Vah Medoh… besides Princess Zelda and whomever she appoints the new champion to take over piloting it... Sorry it's not some tourist attraction…" he spat. Levilah replaced the rupees in her cloak and smirked darkly.
"Alright… have it your way then, I'm not opposed to having Rito warriors. I like some variety." The Rito just tilted his head at her as she whispered the spell under her breath. Her hands concealed by the cloak so the Rito was unaware of what exactly she was doing.
"Move along Zora…" he began, but was cut off as the swirl of strong magic blew open her cloak and by the time, he tried to react it was too late. The spell hit causing the same painful mind control like it did to Sidon. He tried to choke out a cry for help, but fell silent as he hit the ground hard. When he did finally rise again his eyes were completely black.
"Now my faithful soldier, fly me up to Vah Medoh now!" The harpy eagle immediately knelt and she climbed onto his broad back and he jumped into the trees before taking off into the sky. Levilah held onto the straps of his armor as they ascended higher. Medoh was coming closer into view, she smiled, soon very soon her plan would come to fruition. As they soared through the air getting into position for landing on top of the Divine beast.
When they did land Levilah jumped off and went immediately to her task. "Stay here, don't let anyone disturb me. And come when I call you, bird?" she said getting to the point and the Rito stood back up showing no emotion.
"Karos, my Princess…" he said in a monotone voice.
"Alright then…" she turned and walked away to the entrance to Medohs interior. As soon as she was inside her mission was clear. "Oh, spirits of old show me the final resting place the last righteous one who perished here." A little green flame appeared between her hands and flew forward leading her. She smiled and followed, behind her appeared a Rito spirit watching her thinking her quite suspicious. It led her to the control room to the very back where she found a small bone. She picked it up examining the old bleached bone, cracked with age.
"Put that back!" she heard a rather angry voice behind her say. She grinned to herself before she responded.
"Now why would I want to do that?" she asked still not facing him.
"Well for one thing that is my bone and disturbing ones place of death is rather rude… So, there's two good reasons right there… Now put it back!" Levilah turned to face the champion Rito who looked rather cross with his wings folded across his chest. "How did you even get up here Zora?"
"Isn't it obvious? I flew. I figured that I'd come up here and offer you a proposition. One that you couldn't refuse." She walked forward putting on her most charming smile. "Perhaps you would like to be counted again as one of the living?" Revali sneered at the mention.
"Do you take me for a fool? There is no such magic that can do such a feat… Besides the Shrine of Resurrection… But only freshly dead corpses can be placed there. So, I'm not sure what you trying to pull and I don't really care…"
"Princess Mipha lives." She cut in, examining her claws in disinterest.
"Lies… Mipha died along with the rest of us Champions 100 years ago…" Revali spat.
"That is true." Levilah mused. "But she was revived, now she's flesh and blood! Living peacefully in the Zora Domain again like nothing ever happened. With her sweet little Hylian by her side, Link, was it?" she could see a visible reaction from the name. "Nice that they are to live happily ever after, while you are still here, a wondering soul. Dead, and so young too, you had so many years ahead of you, snatched away before your time. It doesn't mean that it must be like that though. Don't you miss the freedom? The flight, the air beneath your wings? Don't you want to be able to shoot a bow again? To touch things? To feel? But such a gift must be wanted so badly it burns inside your soul." She said watching his reaction.
Mipha was alive? That was not possible. Revali thought to himself looking conflicted. His fellow champions had retired to their Devine beasts to watch over things now that times were peaceful so he had not seen Mipha, Urbosa, or Daruk as of late… "It's not possible!"
"Of course, it's possible! I am a Mortal Deity; I have the ability to resurrect the dead. So, what do you say? Do you want to fly again?"
"I…" Revali looked out upon the world below. He barely remembered what it felt like to feel the wind in his face. The ground beneath his feet. The satisfaction of hitting the bullseye every time he shot that arrow. "I won't lie, living again would be like a dream come true… but." Levilah cut him off before he said anymore stepping forward and grabbing his wing hands.
"That's all I need to know!" she said with a devious smile. Revali shocked that she'd even touched him tried to pull away as her mark and eyes glowed under her hood.
"What do you think you're doing!" He shouted. "I gave you no such permission!"
"You gave me all the permission I required!" she retorted holding him still. The purple/black light crept up his wings and Revali struggled fruitlessly. She grinned to herself 'You're up little sister.'
Teba looked up from the tower having heard a crack of thunder. Weren't the skies clear just a second ago? He pondered to himself curiously. But these clouds, they swirled over Medoh in a strange way like he'd never seen before. And they only seemed to be over Medoh... What in blue blazes was going on up there? He suddenly noticed Kaneli walking up behind him hobbling with his walking stick. "I sense something bad is happening up there Teba… Can you see what it is? Someone said they saw Karos fly up there with someone on his back." This surprised Teba since Karos never broke the rules, he was one of his best perimeter archers. Being the one in charge of the safety of their village Teba didn't hesitate. He put his bow over his shoulder with a full quiver of arrows around his waist. He jumped up onto the railing and jumped off flying up into the sky. He hoped that this had nothing to do with the Yiga Clan… They never seemed to know when to give up a fruitless endeavor.
He soared over the beast faster than Karos had managed to see him, being smaller and more versatile. He spotted the forenamed Rito standing in front of the entrance to the inside of Medoh. His wings folded behind him. He landed nearby and approached Karos slowly. "Karos why are you up here and not at your post?" He got no response but black eyes examined him thoroughly. This alarmed Teba as Karos had blue eyes and he didn't seem to have any recognition of who Teba even was. He moved forward again slowly. "Hey Karos it's me Teba, do you not recognize me?" Still, he seemed to have no recognition of the name. "And what about Orah, your mate? And your chicks?" He still said nothing. Something was definitely wrong with him. "Stand aside Karos... I need to see what's going on inside Medoh…"
Karos made a noise a of that sounded like a primitive bird call as he stepped forward to intercept Teba menacingly. His feathers fluffing up in silent defense, and the last thing he wanted was to get into a scuffle with a Rito twice his size. He was going to need help subduing the larger male if he was going to investigate what was going on inside.
Levilah stared down exhaustedly at the dark blue/grey and white unconscious Rito before her. If she didn't know better, she'd swear he was a mockingbird the way he wouldn't shut up. But now at least he'd only speak when she wanted him to… And since Arethusa ran off with her favorite soldier and somehow weakened the spell, she had over him, that girl…. She would have to be punished. And what fun thinking of that would be. So many options, though she smiled to herself when an idea came to mind. Oh yes that would be perfect.
She was cut out of her thoughts when she heard her other Rito sound the alarm or whatever he was doing. Which meant that it was time for her to take her prize and go. She whistled up at the oversized chicken and he retreated to her. "Pick him up and let's get out of here before more of these oversized chickens come flocking in..." she said as if she had a bad taste in her mouth.
"Oversized Chickens?" Teba said lingering in the doorway glaring insulted. The way he spoke that alone could scare people away. But Levilah wasn't just anyone. She just glared right back up at him but then just smiled.
"Yeah, give you a little red up top and you'd fit the part perfectly. But too bad I can't stay." She hopped up on Karos' back and she kicked his side like a stead. "Let's go already."
"You're not going anywhere!" she looked back at Teba and he'd pulled his bow out with an arrow drawn she really could only laugh amused. "I'm not joking!" Teba shouted over her laughter. "I will shoot you. Now release them both!" Levilah just kept laughing.
"Oh, my you almost had me laughing so hard tears almost came out. That doesn't happen often. All right let's go." Teba sighed. He didn't understand this Zora at all but he did warn her twice, and so he released his arrow. Levilah went rigid as she turned back towards Teba, a not so happy look on her face. "Oow!" she growled. Tebas' eyes widened as he saw the other end of the arrow sticking out of the front of her bloody scales. "You stupid overgrown chicken! How dare you shoot me!" She slid off Karos and broke the arrow off in the front and threw it away. Teba strung another arrow and fired and Levilah formed a thick chunk of ice to shield herself. The arrow made a thunk noise as it hit the ice. That only made her even more angry… This wasn't a magic she used much but she was pissed. Her hands glowed with flame as she aimed at Teba who scrambled out of the way of the fire magic. Teba fired more arrows only to hit ice. Feeling her magic draining and her body exhausting from dodging chicken boys arrows. "Karos attack!" the larger Rito jumped over her and hissed at Teba before he flew at him attacking with his talons. Teba couldn't attack Karos all he could do was retreat and not get hit by those claws.
Teba blocked most of the onslaught with his bow but still received several cuts before she called him back. She climbed back onto Karos who grabbed hold of the smaller Rito and took off with Revali in his claws. Teba wanted to pursue but that wasn't a wound you just turned around and said ow too…. This was something he could not do on his own, they were going to have to talk to the Zora about this. See what they knew about this rogue Zora who seemed oblivious to arrows…. That and it was getting too dark to see. He imagined they were having a hard time unless she wasn't the only one out there. But he couldn't afford to endanger anyone else. If she could do that to Karos, not to mention all that magic… And now with his own wounds to tend to, examining a couple of the were deep… "Damn…" he muttered as he looked off at where they disappeared.
Levilah guzzled her water down as she threw the canteen when it was empty, glaring ahead with the other half of the arrow still sticking out of her back she cursed loudly. She had already been tired from the resurrection process and then that stupid chicken had to shoot her, making her livid. Fire was never a good idea when you were depleted idiot… she thought to herself. magic 101. Especially since she was of aquatic nature…. And losing blood certainly wasn't helping things. She glared down and her hand which covered the wound, blood oozing between her fingers. She saw a torch and knew it was a signal for her. "Set down my little Rito in those bushes and land." She commanded and Karos did as he was told he swooped down and dropped Revali and then landed, where Levilah whistled in a pattern. Before Voltar bolted out of the trees to her side. It only took him a moment to see she that she was injured.
"My Princess!?" He jumped off his elk to inspect the damage. He pulled out the arrow. Levilah winced and slapped his arm. "My apologies my princess, the rest of you secure the bounty!" He ripped up his own cloak and wrapped her wound.
"You know it'll disappear as soon as the blood curse takes affect and it will be Arethusa's problem." she said like it was no big deal. Those Domain fools had better make sure she doesn't die. Levilah had a brilliant plan for her. It was going to be grand.
"I know, but I don't want you losing any more of your precious blood, my princess." Voltar said softly as he finished and picked her up gently off the Rito and sat her up on his elk and got on behind her. He handed her a full pouch of water and she took it graciously and drank. "Let's head out before those flying rats come after us." After the Rito were packed up in the wagon cage and covered to look a supply wagon. They were off quickly and as quietly as possible. Levilah rested her head against Voltars' chest and his eyes visibly softened for a moment as he watched her. He wouldn't fail her not this time…
