Hey everyone,
With this chapter, the fun continues. And don't worry, I will be creating more chances for Helena, Cheren, Marcus and Carmen to shine. Also, as ironic as it is, I am not going to need as many chapters for the 24th as I did for the 23rd. Yet at the same time, that's good thing as that means that we can get to the 25th faster and that is when things will go down. Especially for Barkley.
Let's do this,

Chapter 16
Sneaky, Sneaky Fox
24th of June 2007
The City of Paris
Carmelita's POV
After breakfast, Bentley gave me a set of five Binocucoms and earpieces. He and I went over the plan one more time and the turtle was a little shocked to hear that Helena lived around the corner of Interpol. "So she doesn't have any form of transportation?" Murray had asked and I had replied in the negative. This had reminded Bentley of something and he said: "Right! Our garage is only big enough for one more car and that's it." I had asked about bikes and Bentley had muttered about there being space for maybe one or two.
"Cheren has a motorbike. He also has these chains that hang from the ceiling of his cellar that he uses to store his bike. I'll probably have to unscrew those when I'm at his place and he will probably ride his back when we pick him up tonight." Bentley had nodded and muttered: "Another thing we'll need to discuss." After this he had moved onto spy onto Barkley and I had left for the top floor of the hotel and from there the roof.
Urmila had picked me up from the corner of the street about four blocks away from the hide out and we had spent an hour making sure people saw us together. The cobra had even treated me to a short visit to a fancy bar near her boutique where we ate a slice of apple pie with whipped cream and hot chocolate. I had wanted to object to her paying for this, but I had quickly remembered that this was all part of the act and so I had just smiled and thanked her.
Yet as we parted ways, I had whispered: "Next treat is on me, no objections." The woman had giggled softly and we had gone our separate ways, though Urmila did do me the favor of driving me home first. Yet after the last 36 hours, the huge and slightly extravagant building made of white stone that tries to resemble marble and with the arches on top of the window has never felt more unlike home to me. And I now use this fact to motivate me.
I head inside and while my front door is on the top floor, my busy time at work has made it so that I never really bonded with any of my neighbors, who are all business men and women. And so the only sound in the elevator going up is a seriously annoying tune, which I suddenly realize is the instrumental version of She's so Lovely, a new song that recently released. I try not to let this bother me and just think back on how Sly sang for me the other day.
This allows me to keep my cool as I wait for the others in the elevator to step off before me. There are also a few residents that get on and obviously want to go down, but luckily for me, the elevator just keeps going up. Finally I reach my own floor and just like all those around me, I don't greet any of them as I get off. I pluck my key from my pocket, yet I also make sure to check the key that I hid behind the number plate to the right of my door.
The key looks untouched, yet I still make a mental note to myself to ask Bentley if he could check the security cameras of the other night for me. I head inside and instantly head for the cabinet that is against the front wall of my living room. I grimace a little as I had actually stored a letter here that I wrote a few months ago, yet back then I had still been hopeful that I could arrange something else, a solution that wouldn't make me have to do this.
Yet the memory of what awaits me back at the Hide Out removes the grimace of my face and I happily smile instead as I pull the notice of departure out of the top drawer of the cabinet. I had written the notice while swallowing my pride, but while I lie it down, I smirk in pride and think: "The joke's on you, jerk. I'm trading this overly expensive stable for an actual home. And once I'm settled, my new team and I are going to come after you."
I move from the cabinet and the notice lying on top of it to the other side of the room. I will admit to myself that I will slightly miss these huge glass doors that lead to my nice marble balcony, but at the same time I feel like I am just exchanging that for the most amazing bedroom ever. I pull the Binocucom out of my pocket and put it in front of my eyes. And instantly they widen as the screen in front of me is for much more than just to zoom in what is in front of me.
There is actually a technological touch added to the whole thing and I even see two small screens in the bottom corners. What shocks me even more is that the right one shows me my own shocked face. And then in the other small screen Sly's face appears. "Ah, so this is what your home looks like. Very nice, gorgeous. You truly have excellent taste." I shake my head and ask: "Right. Ehm, I suddenly realize that I didn't ask Bentley how to take pictures with this before I left."
"Oh, that's simple. Are you holding the Binocucom with both hands?" I confirm this and Sly asks: "And you feel small indents on the top left, right?" I confirm this as well before he explains: "The buttons at your middle, ring and pinkie finger allow for the Binocucom to switch between channels. From mine, to Bentley's, to Murray's and to Guru's as well. The button at your forefinger is for the camera function. A single click will do."
I feel the curious need to test this all out, but then think: "I'll have plenty enough time for that once we take Barkley down." And instead I focus on the vision in front of me. I take a few steps to the back and to the side to make sure that I have my full interior in focus and Sly even gives me a few more pointers. "The buttons on the top right are to help you zoom in or out." And this helps me make sure that I take the perfect shot. Sly even congratulates me.
I grin and say: "Alright, I'll quickly pack a last few things and then I'll head for mum and dad's and Cheren's after that. That should probably take me the longest as he has a house full of hallways." Sly nods and then grins as he says: "Remember, this is your first test as a Master Thief. Prove that you can do this without being spotted or, if you are, without drawing suspicion to yourself and your actions." I smirk back at him over the Binocucom and put it back in my pocket.
Then I start to move through my house and yet again I actually feel a sense of relief with how busy I have been these past few months. It has really taken the sense of familiarity and home out of most of my house and thus lessens my need to pack the majority of my stuff. I still make sure to wrap a couple of small statues that I have collected over the years in bubble wrap and put them in boxes as I am sure they can help decorate my bedroom. I also pack a couple of spices, just in case the Cooper gang doesn't have them or has run out.
I leave most of my shower stuff, though I do pack all of my brushes, combs and the other stuff I use to take care of my hair and my fur. Yet as I pack this, I suddenly get an idea. I quickly pull it all back out of the boxes and rush for my bedroom. "All the things I want to take with me are small sized. They don't really need to be put in a box, because they can fit in my usual travel bags as well. And if someone spots those being full, I can just lie and say that I am preparing for my next mission abroad." This idea makes me grin.
I do feel a slight hint of concern when I notice that the travel bag looks pretty worn and remember that I had a lot of issues with it upon my return home from Venice. It had actually gone missing and had somehow ended up in India instead. It had taken almost three days before the bag was returned and while everything was still inside and intact, the bag itself looked like it had received several beatings before it arrived back in Paris.
I quickly pull some duct tape from a drawer of my desk and stick that to several spots across the travel bag, both on the outside and the inside, to ensure it stays in one piece. Then I move it back to my bathroom, kitchen and living room. Yet the fact that the bag lost one of its wheels on the way from India to Paris makes this slightly harder and the bag even ends up stuck on the doorstep between my kitchen and living room.
Yet I ignore this, lift the bag over the doorstep and leave it open in the center of the room. I then make a quick return trip to my bedroom and after I check to make sure that no one is watching or spying on me, I pull the boxes that I got out of the cellar earlier this month out of my wardrobe. I carry them back to my living room and think: "If I just take these and not my other older cloths, I can further decrease the chance of people catching onto my moving plans."
And to my utter delight all three boxes full of cloths easily fit into the two travel bags alongside everything else. I look around the room and wander the house while I wonder what else I might need. "I have my self-care equipment, the statues that I have been buying to decorate my house with over the past few – my cd collection!" And instantly I rush back to the living room. Yet just before I reach the huge double rack of cd's, I stop and realize something.
"I can't! I can't pack this! Not yet! If someone were to come by and see this empty, they will instantly know something's up. The notice they might ignore, especially if I cover it up with a few old letters and bits of mail from the last week, but an empty cd rack will draw attention like a flamingo in an armadillo nest." And for the first time since I made this decision, I feel a stab of pain and regret in my heart, as well as anxiety about what this might mean for tonight.
I gaze at the racks, which contains every music cd I have ever had since I was only 6 years old, even cd's that have songs on them that people would consider childish and juvenile, but that I still love to this day. But then I remember Sly and his Spotify list and a new idea hits me. I pull the Binocucom out of my pocket again and to my relief, Sly appears on screen.
"Sly, if I want to keep people off my back until we have moved, I can't empty this rack, at least not until the move tonight. But that might slow the whole move down and I don't want to risk that either. Can I take a picture of these racks and send them to you? Have you check your Spotify list to see how many of these songs we both have? That way I'll only need to pack a few and that will decrease the chance of our plans being discovered."
Sly grins at my explanation and request and he says: "You're already thinking like a true Master Thief, I am so proud, my gorgeous. And don't worry about your cd's. You take that picture and I will just take care of the rest. Urmila gave Bentley a tablet of his own for his birthday a few years ago, but he stopped using that one after he got his wheelchair equipped. I'll just make sure to add these cd's to the Spotify list on that tablet and then put that in your bedroom here."
This idea makes me grin widely and I lovingly whisper: "I knew I could count on you, Ringtail." Sly smoothly grins back at me and says: "I lovingly await your return, my gorgeous vixen." I quickly take the picture and also make sure to take a few more of the cd's up close to ensure that Sly can really see all the titles and such properly. I put the Binocucom back in my pocket and then I do another round of my house.
I pull a few more knickknacks from their places and put those in the travel bags as well. I make sure to take extra care and precaution with the few objects around my place that I got from mama and papa as I left home. Yet as I reach the maximum capacity of both, I realize that I really did pack everything I want and need. I take another look around and a pang of sadness shoots through me as I realize that the house hardly looks any different.
I sigh at this as it's just more evidence that I have really stopped having a home over the past few years, but I again remind myself of what awaits me at the end of the day. I quickly secure the two travel bags underneath the cabinet at the front of the room and then pluck the few envelopes that I pulled from my letter box on Friday off the coffee table. I put them down on top of the notice of departure, but make sure that the logo of the rental company is still visible.
I feel confident that I got the job done here and know that I can't leave the way I came. Instead of that I head for the balcony and turn to look at the drainpipe that leads to the top of the roof. I study the firmness of this and then turn to look at the edge of my balcony. I suddenly realize that while my balcony is wide, it's not very deep and that the brown marble banister at the edge reaches up to my belly button.
The banister is also very similar to the banister I tried to practice the Rail Walk technique on the other day. I bite down on my lip and think: "Sly's not here to catch me if I fall off the other side. But on the other hand, this banister doesn't go up, it's straight all the way to the wall of the building itself. And the drainpipe is situated right next to the edge of the banister. So if I manage to do this right, I can use the banister to gain momentum, jump and will from there only need a small portion of the drainpipe to get up on the roof."
I nod at this, yet instead of running at the banister, I walk calmly and jump when I am only two steps away. I twist on my axis in the middle of the air and the tough leather soles of my shoes easily find a solid hold on the banister beneath my feet. I focus on my belly button and the center of my whole person and yet I don't wait like I did the other night. Instead I instantly start to dash and my confidence grows slowly but surely as I realize that I am dashing across the banister the same way I saw Sly do the other night.
I reach the corner and take it perfectly. I speed up the last few steps and use the gained momentum to jump as high as I can. My feet actually reach the wall before my hand grabs hold of the drainpipe and I, out of nothing more than instinct, make another leap. And with this second jump and the momentum gained from my previous jump, I easily end up on top of the roof. I blink twice and remain in my landed position for a moment and then a huge grin shows on my face.
"It might not be a staircase banister, but I – I did it. I used the Rail Walk technique. I did it!" And while I might have run across roofs and other platforms over the last few years in my effort of catching Sly, this still feels different. This feels special. And suddenly I realize something else. An energy of some kind seems to flow through me, from my legs up to my chest where it seems to vanish or something.
My eyes widen and I think: "That – that's the energy I saw ruffling Sly's fur the other night. How is that possible?" I instantly decide to question Sly about this when I get back home to the hide out. I start to dash across the rooftops and only shortly wonder if my boots are audible to those below me. I ignore this for the time being and just focus on my travel. At the edge of each roof, I stop running and crouch down to do a quick surveillance.
And each time I feel sure that no one on the streets or the homes on the other side of the street is looking up, I make use of whatever I can find to get to the other side and continue my journey. It takes me about half an hour to get to my parents' place, yet just as I reach it, I feel the Binocucom vibrate in my pocket. I make sure to hide myself behind the small building that leads inside to the staircase heading down and pull it out of my pocket.
I put it in front of my eyes and see Bentley on the small screen in the left bottom corner. "Carmelita, good. Listen, Helena is at the changing rooms and she needs the code to your locker so she can get your ring for you." The Turtle quickly explains. I try not to giggle as I had actually changed the code to my locker before I left on Friday and says: "Right, it's quadruple 7, triple 9, triple 5." The turtle looks at me shocked and mutters:
"Well, nothing wrong with being careful and making full use of the code number availability." I put the Binocucom back in my pocket and mutter to myself: "I wonder how long it will take him to figure out that I spelled Sly's name." I quickly check the door and I feel shocked when I realize that it's not locked. I want to open it, but then I think: "No wait, I can't. I'll be spotted before I even get to their floor." And instantly I turn around and look around instead.
I notice a black metal fire escape ladder stationed between the flat I am on and the apartment across the side alley and instantly grin and think: "Perfect. The shadows of that side alley will hide me from view and it's near mum's bedroom window as well. The perfect entrance for an upcoming Master Thief." I rush over, but I also quickly make sure to take off my boots before I descend the metal staircase down about three floors.
And it seems that mama was expecting this as her bedroom window is actually open. I peak around to ensure that I'm entirely alone and that no one is gazing out their windows and then quickly climb inside. Once inside, I take another peek through the window to ensure that I wasn't spotted and then turn to look inside. Mama and I seem to have had the same idea as there are several travel bags lying open on her bed.
"Bentley and the others will love it when they hear how well mama and I are already working together." I think as I notice a folded bit of paper on the small side table next to the window I just climbed through. I take the paper and read through the list that mum and dad wrote down. The list is definitely longer than my own, yet it doesn't seem to have anything noted that could give the wrong people the wrong idea.
Swiftly I move through the whole house and collect the stuff that is on the list. I do make sure to keep the travel bags in the bedroom, even if mama's whole place is built around her and dad's living room. Yet just when I empty the vault that is behind a drapery on the living room wall, a voice comes from the hallway that leads to the front door. "Inspector Fox, what are you doing here?" I turn my head and try not to let my fur whiten when I see someone stand there.
"Crap, when did mama and papa start hiring a maid to clean their place? And why didn't they cancel her for tonight? Think, Fox, think!" These thoughts run through my mind and the maid, who is a regular white and black badger with a white stripe running down her forehead tilts her head. Yet her words give me a sudden idea. I pretend to look around and ask: "Mama and papa aren't coming back anytime soon, right? You're just here to clean their place while they work?"
The badger nods and I say: "Okay, for the last few years, my rent has been going up like crazy. But I am on the verge of arresting the bastard for it as he actually uses this raising of rent to drive people like me out of the house and then he lowers it again to lure in a new victim. Once I arrest him, I plan to use all the money that he owes me to buy that one old manor on the outskirt of town. For mama, papa, Cheren, Lena and me to live in together.
Unfortunately, I'm going to need some back-up to arrest this guy and my back-up needs to keep his mouth shut to papa and Cheren. But he asked me for more money than I have been able to save the past few weeks, so I'm – ahem – borrowing a few euros from mama and papa. I'm getting my next paycheck on Monday and I'll be able to use that to pay them back. But I also want to arrest this guy on Monday, so – you catch my drift, no?"
The woman has a huge grin on her face and she asks: "Want to borrow some of mine?" But I shake my head and say: "Nah. Though you could help me. Would you mind writing a notice of departure for the landlord of this place? I'll make sure to sign it afterwards. And don't worry about cleaning the place today, I'll do that once I get the money and – well, pack a few of mama and papa's things. I want to surprise them, but – papa doesn't take kindly to big-sized surprises.
So I better make sure he at least spots a few hints to know that someone is doing something kind for him, you know?" The badger nods and says: "Alright, I'll write the notice and then I'll be next door if you need me, Inspector." I give the woman a grateful smile and pretend to head into the bedroom to pack a few cloths. Instead I press myself against the wall just to the side of the door and watch as the woman does as said.
And when she leaves and locks the door behind her, I breath a sigh of relief. Then I notice my Binocucom vibrating again. I put it in front of me and Bentley instantly yells: "Carmelita, I heard everything! That was incredible! The way you lied without actually lying! Hinting at the move without revealing the actual reason! You were – amazing! Now, make sure you use that same cover story in case you're spotted at the homes of either of your siblings."
I nod and then the small screen on the left bottom corner changes from Bentley to Sly, who also has a huge grin on his face. "You, my gorgeous, have just earned yourself another full-body massage when you get back home. That – was – brilliant! I am so proud of you!" I try to suppress tears and want to tell him about my trick at my own place. But I suppress this need and say: "I'm almost done with packing the items on the list here.
I'll probably be done entirely by lunch, somewhere around two at the latest." Sly nods and then the screen changes back to Bentley, who quickly says: "Don't forget about the sandwiches that I prepared before you left. Make sure you have those while you're at it." I nod at his thoughtfulness and then I want to pack the Binocucom again, when a thought strikes me. "Bentley, why aren't you and Sly using the earpiece to communicate with me?"
"Because this is your first test and we feel like we can take on a better mentor role if we talk with you face to face – or eh, Binocucom to Binocucom – whenever you need us. Or when you make us proud like you just did." I grin as I put the device away and quickly store the money I took from the safe into a small money pouch that is sown into the inside of one of the travel bags. I close this one off and use the full locking mechanism to secure it.
I quickly take care of the last few things on the list, yet because I already packed some of the spices on the list at my own place, I cross those off without taking them. I check the list a total of three times and feel pretty positive that I packed everything mama and papa asked of me. I head back into the living room and smirk as I spot the notice of departure that the cleaning lady left behind. The smirk is because of the spot she left it on.
An antique bronze platter on the side table next to the hallway that leads to the front door. Yet while the woman had left it here, I had already spotted a little bit of paper sticking out from underneath the platter. When the woman had arrived, I had stood next to it and I had subtly pushed the note a little further until it was completely hidden from sight. I now pull the paper out and grin as I see an actual notice of departure with the signatures of both mama and papa at the bottom.
I quickly switch the two around and put the one of the cleaning lady in my back pocket for safe keeping. I also quickly write down a short note that says your house needs cleaning, sleep well and put that with the notice, so that mama and papa know that I met with the cleaning lady. After this I quickly rush to hide the travel bags under their bed and then leave the house the same way I left. Again, I make sure to check my surroundings as I take the fire escape.
I get back on top of the roof and put my boots back on as I left them on top of the roof before I climbed down. I take one last surveillance look around and then dash for Cheren's place. And while I run, I feel great joy and satisfaction at the fact that Cheren's house is directly between mama and papa's place and Helena's. I also know that his little riddle will probably cost me the most time, together with getting those chains out of his cellar, but I don't care for this.
About ten minutes later I reach my brother's building and think: "Good thing that you live on the top floor like me, bro." And this time I take the staircase entrance that leads to the roof. Yet as I reach Cheren's floor, I raise my hand to my ear and whisper: "Bentley, do you think you can make sure that the security cameras aren't aimed my way?""Sure can, Carmelita. But why not –?" Bentley wants to ask me and I whisper: "I can't risk getting distracted.
I need to focus on Cheren's little riddle to get inside." A minute later Bentley says: "Okay, you're good to go." And while in my mind I already start to work on adding a few little facts and lies to the cover story, I head for the fourth door on the left from where I was hiding. I feel annoyed when I realize that Cheren didn't purposely make the riddle easier than normal, but I can also understand why my brother didn't want to risk this.
"Carmelita?" A voice asks me just as I figure out Cheren's little riddle and I give a warm smile to the little old Robin lady that approaches me from two doors down. "Goodness, what are you doing here, dear? It's been too long since I last saw you up here. You're not here to visit Cheren, are you? I mean, surely you know he's busy at work?" The woman has a tone to her voice as if she considers me a beloved grandchild, yet I ignore this and say:
"I know, Missus Redd. But I'm about to bring in a really big case and be able to earn back a lot of money that was – well – swindled away from me over the past few years. It's even so much that I'll be able to buy that old manor on the outskirts of town. But – well, you know how there have been multiple cases of robbery as well as breaking and entering lately. So I came to check up on Cheren's security system. See if it can be used for the new home for us all, you see?"
The woman has a hand on her chest and she says: "Oh you poor brave thing. How on earth was anyone able to swindle you? Was it that rascal that you keep hunting? That Cooper fellow?" I shake my head and say: "No Missus Redd, not Cooper. It was the guy in charge of my rent. He was raising the rent costs more and more and a lot faster than other employees at his company or even other rental companies. I realized what he was doing and decided to make a case out of it."
"Atta girl, Carmelita. I take it you're going to arrest him sometime soon?" Missus Redd asks and while I really feel like just going in and getting started on the packing, I just envision myself in Michael's shoes tomorrow as I say: "Yes Missus Redd. If all goes according to plan, he'll be in shackles by lunch tomorrow. And well, hopefully I'll be able to see Cheren before then. To tell him the great news and congratulate him on his excellent security.
But Missus Redd, you can't let anyone know I was here, alright? I'm really just here to test Cheren's security, get the key to his cellar and leave a little hint that his life is about to change for the better. But I don't want anyone telling him until I get the chance myself, you understand?" The woman laughs and says: "Oh dear, I really need to go do my groceries." And while I genuinely grin, the old little bird lifts her shopping bag further up her shoulder and leaves.
I quickly take the key from where Cheren hid it and head inside. "Carmelita, that was exquisite. And don't worry about the security cameras. I'll make sure that they keep away from you when you head down to get those chains." Bentley praises and assures me from the earpiece and then Murray's voice is heard. "I am going to make my specialty tonight, just to celebrate how excellent you are doing on your first lesson, Carmelita."
I thank them both and yet as I look around, my glee from before vanishes. "I hate to say it, guys, but Cheren really wasn't lying when he told us about his furniture. For goodness sake, there is a huge hole in the center of his sofa and the whole thing is even collapsed inward too. I know my situation with Barkley wasn't good, but his living situation seriously isn't any better." I mutter with my finger pressed to the earpiece.
"I know we don't need it for the discussion later, but –." Bentley mutters and I quickly reply in the affirmative before I pull out my Binocucom. Bentley's face appears in the left lower part of the screen and I let the screen go over the entire room. The holes and burn marks in the floor and carpet, some of which are being covered up with small rugs, the sofa and the state it's in and the bare walls that have bits of paint and wallpaper missing at certain parts.
Sly's face appears to replace Bentley's and he says: "Wow Carmelita, you weren't kidding. Those bastards really did do a number on his place all those years ago." I nod and mutter: "At least he's moving to a better home now. I'm going to go pack and then I'll head for Helena's." Sly nods and says: "Ignore Cheren's list. Anything that's still intact, we'll take with us to the hide out tonight. Make sure that everything that can be packed is, Carmelita."
I give my new leader a grateful nod and quickly get to work. I make sure to wrap the pots of the potted plants into bubble wrapping paper and use every travel case and large backpack I can find to pack everything else. I also use a couple of boxes and use the stuffing of the broken sofa and chairs to safely pack several of the glass vases and the paintings and portraits that are set around the house. I know that I'm leaving more signs than before, but I don't care.
After I secure a framed poster of Hogwarts castle, I quickly write another note and leave it on the broken ash tray that amazingly enough looks antique. Boss' orders. Nothing good gets left behind. I search the house for a small hand-sized screwdriver and secure it in my pocket before I head out and down. And just to ensure that I don't run into more unexpected encounters, I take the stairs instead of the elevator.
At every floor, I hide behind the wall on the side of the doorway and check the hallway to see if anyone is approaching. Twice I have to wait for another resident to pass me on the way to the elevator and finally I reach the cellar below the ground floor. Like with his own place, there is a riddle to hide the spare key, but thankfully enough this one is much easier. I quickly enter and use the small two-step ladder to reach the chains hanging from the ceiling.
And to my unexpected shock, surprise and relief, the chains don't rattle or even make loud noises as they are taken from the ceiling. "Cheren, you damned genius. You must have oiled them before you left for work this morning. Thanks a ton for that, bro." I think as I secure the chains in between my shirt and my jacket. Yet even this fact doesn't help me not feel a slight bit worried as I head back upstairs. After a few floors, I even feel like the soft rattling of the chains is as loud as the music coming from a heavy-metal disco bar.
I shake this thought out of my mind and make sure that the chains are securely hidden underneath the many jackets that are still hanging from the hat stand next to the front door. "That should do it. Cheren will have to pack those himself before he leaves. Now I need to quickly head for Helena's – and hope that I don't meet another person when I enter through her balcony." Yet the fact that I have been successful so far fills me with confidence.
Well done, Carmelita.
Okay, so for the most part I have been summarizing the whole thing and I haven't really given much of a description of the style and decoration of either Carmelita or her parents' place. But to be honest, I already knew that this chapter would be pretty long and didn't want to lengthen it to the point of a two-parter by adding such details. Those are going to be mentioned when the other Foxes chose their bedrooms in the next chapter.
Okay? Okay,
