A/N: Enjoy!
Videl's Brutal Defeat
A black-gloved fist slammed into the left side of his cheek, making his head turn, Videl not wasting a moment more and following up with a second one to his right. A powerful knee connected with his stomach while the stoic man was stunned, making him grunt and double over, his eyes sealing shut from the pain. Leaping back to a safe distance, she blinked in surprise, her blue eyes riddled with confusion when she saw the blue-skinned man fall to one knee on the floor; then he collapsed onto his stomach, seemingly defeated.
The crowd went silent.
"Uhhhh…" Trevor momently lost his composure…that is, until one person in the crowd broke out into a loud cheer of excitement. "W-wow! Incredible! It appears that it is true when they say that the bigger they are, the harder they fall as the raw power of the Champ's daughter had brought the blue giant to his knees before collapsing entirely! Will this be the match?!"
As the announcer went and started the countdown, some of the Z-Warriors were shocked at what they just witnessed while others were concerned.
"Oh yeah, did you guys see that?! Videl defeated him with three attacks! Even though I shouldn't be, I'm impressed!" Gohan said, pumping a fist in the air proudly.
Erasa grinned. "Well, she has trained every single day, making sure to follow the training regimen you had laid out for her years ago! She has become, like, super strong! Believe me!"
Gohan blushed, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly as Sharpner smiled, nudging him in the ribs teasingly. He was happy that despite their fall out, she still continued to use his training regimen, instead of creating a new one. That workout plan was the one that his former mentor, Piccolo, had made for him to prepare for the fight with not only the Saiyans but also the Androids. Of course, he uhhh, had to redefine it as Piccolo's methods were quite ruthlessly abusive and well, plain not human friendly.
Goku's brow wrinkled. "This is strange. Supreme Kai, just how strong is this Mira guy supposed to be?"
"Very. Well compared to the girl anyway. Hmmm, who to compare him too" Shin snapped his fingers. "Are any of you familiar with Frieza?"
Gohan turned pale, not liking where this was going.
"Yes and he's dead," Vegeta answered, smirking since it was his son from the future that killed him.
If the Kai was shocked by this revelation, he didn't show it. "He's leagues stronger than him."
Gohan's eyes widened. "Wh-what? Then how…?"
Sharpner patted his friend on his back reassuringly. "Relax buddy! Maybe you're not giving your girl enough credit!"
Vegeta laughed. "Not even in a million years would she be able to land a finger on Frieza in his first form! No human could. If anything, she's closer to you in power, baldy." He said, nodded towards Krillin, who frowned; his wife's quiet giggles only added salt to his wounded pride.
Yamcha coughed. "I'm human, Vegeta, and I can kill him with one punch."
The Prince snorted. "Only because of that sword, 'Alaster', right?"
"I can defeat him without it!" He defended.
"Of course, that sword has magical properties. If you had never acquired it, you'd probably be weaker than the girl."
"I-most- that's not true!" He turned his head, refusing to see the victorious smirk across the Prince's lips. He hated that the jerk was right and hell, if it wasn't for Bra's training and the sword, he actually might have been weaker than Videl with all the slacking he had been doing years ago.
That's when he felt it, though it was brief.
From his peripheral vision, he had seen the Supreme Kai's eyes flicker with a hit of recognition.
What are you hiding?
"Look guys, he's getting up," Tien said, never having removed his sight from the match.
Piccolo's eyes rounded. "And his ki…I can sense it now… and it's-"
"Just as strong as hers?" Gohan finished.
Just what is going on here?
Thin delicate blue fingers reach for a dial on a watch wrapped around her wrist. Above the circular knob, 0% blinked vividly, illuminated her crimson eyes.
"Okay, now that I got a feel of this girl's strength, let's calibrate Mira's power to that of hers…" Gentling twisting the knob to the right, she watched the percentage rise from 0% to 5%.
"After all, I love to witness a person's spirit get crushed slowly after they believe they have the edge in a fight."
She resumed observing the match, a tiny smirk gracing her lips.
Trevor raised his hand, stopping the count at eight when the blue buff man rose back upright.
"Looks like this match will continue!" The announcer said, stepping back to safety
Videl wasn't fazed in the slightest, having expected that this match was far from over. However, she did find it concerning that she could all of a sudden feel his ki signature, and to make it worse, it matched her own! But in her opinion, perhaps it wasn't such a bad thing since the fight would now be fair.
Waiting for him to attack first this time, she frowned when he…just stood still as a statue and was it just her, or did he really appear not to be breathing?
"Well? Are you going to make a move or are you too scared?" Videl said, hoping to provoke him.
Mira was not.
She balled up her fists in irritation, not liking that he wasn't taking her seriously. Breaking into a full sprint, the daughter of the Champ closed the distance between them, giving him a sideways kick against his neck. Videl bit her lower lip, her eyes watering when her foot connected with his neck. She held back a scream as she landed on the foot that she hadn't used, the one that she did throbbing horribly; it was like she had kicked iron. Pushing through the sharp pain, she threw herself at him again, raising her ki a smidge as she landed a direct him against his cheek like she did earlier on; things were different this time.
Yes, Mira's cheek did turn, however, he was fighting back, forcefully craning his head until he was facing her. The blue giant then mechanically raised his knee into her exposed stomach and Videl found herself breathless, doubled over, saliva mixed with blood flowing freely from her lips as her bright blue eyes whitened. Dropping on her knees, one hand palming the tiled floor while the other now in her opponent's hand, covering it completely, she growled when he applied pressure, slowly trying to crush it. When she heard and felt her bone groaning in agony, she panicked, realizing that if she didn't do something within the next few seconds, her hand would be turned into dust.
Releasing a warrior-like scream, Videl tightens every muscle in her body, the hand placed on the floor lighting up with yellow energy as she lifted it and slammed it right into his midsection with all her might. She gasped as she broke his hold on her hand, Videl watching as the blue man stumbled back, but otherwise remained standing, his expression still stoic as ever. Videl winced when she tried to flex her injured and trembling hand, the bone creaking with every movement she made with it.
And then she felt his ki rise, surpassing hers.
So she matched his, closing the power gap again.
Before the Champ's daughter could blink, Mira was right in front of her, his fist sailing over her as out of reflex alone, she had managed to dip back, avoiding his attack. Her back still curved and the top of her head touching the floor, she planted her working hand down and lifted one foot up, connect it with his chin; she quickly followed up by using her other foot, sending Mira into the air, completing her summersault attack. Landing back on her feet, she increased her power once more and the crowd could only gasp in shock when Videl jumped high into the air, higher than any average person could. She shadowed over Mira as she extended one foot, using it to dropkick him into the floor, cracking the tilts when his bulky back touched them. Her hand pulled back, she infused ki into it, aiming to finish her foe off when a final blow to his chest, but just as her fist neared its target, Mira caught it, his dead red eyes burning into her determined icy blue ones. Using his free hand, the blue demon grabbed ahold of her throat, squeezing it tightly, making her orbs almost pop out of their sockets. Standing up with the thrashing Videl, he rammed his fist twice, hard, into her stomach, making her gag and gurgle, her face turning purple and blue from the lack of oxygen and brutal attacks to her midsection. He tossed her across the ring, the girl sliding to a stop near the edge of it as she gasped loudly, greedy taking in as much air as she possibly could; Videl wanted to quit and she knew she should.
Clearly, something wasn't right with the blue man…but she didn't want to quit. She is not a quitter!
Taking in a deep breath, she stood up slowly and was a little confused when she saw the announcer stop counting…did he say seven? Oh right, the countdown…
She glared at the worried look the announcer was giving her, knowing what he wanted to ask her but was smart enough to keep his mouth shut. He wants me to drop the match... she shook her head stubbornly. I'm not weak! The only way I'm losing is if he-
Trevor yelp, leaping away as Mira rocketed towards her, his power two times higher as he punched her against her face, sending her into the air and outside the ring and well that would have been the end of it…if the hard-headed girl didn't halt her momentum, preventing herself from crashing into the wall by using her ki to remain afloat.
Though the crowd had seen this early during the junior division finale, it was still a shocker to see the daughter of the Champ using those same tricks. Perhaps this was another treat from Mr. Satan? Does that mean that he will do the same in the tournament finale too? They sure hope so! Imagine an air battle between the Champ and his daughter! The mere thought of this had some of the crowd shaking in excitement!
Just like that, their excitement died when they witnessed Mira levitated too. Videl wasn't looking so good right now and if she were to lose, they won't be getting that daughter vs father match they craved, so they sure hoped that the girl somehow had an ace up her sleeve, so she could pull off the win.
Gohan was livid, his fist shaking with rage as he desperately tried to control his temper. Everything had been going to well, so well, in fact, that he was starting to believe that maybe the Supreme Kai had been wrong about this Mira guy. Maybe he wasn't as strong as he said he was; how foolish of him. He was the Supreme Kai for a reason, so of course, he would know better than some 'mortal' like him! And now here he was, watching the beast, who now was twice as strong as Videl, looming over her, with an unreadable emotion.
He felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Relax son, he won't kill her-"
"She's still hurting, dad! I can't stand seeing her getting hurt like this!" Gohan snapped.
Watching his son tremble, clearly having a mental battle, he sighed. "Fine, get her if you want. But remember, you said if you pulled her out of the match-"
"I don't care!"
"No! You must not!"
The gang faced the Supreme Kai, who looked panicked. "If you interfere, they will know that they have been spotted and then they will take off!"
Gohan frowned. "But I'd just be calling off the match. Why would they suspect anything?"
"The blue bitch, Towa right? Well, she already knows something is up anyway." Zangya said, making sure to not look behind her.
"In fact, she's not even here anymore." Bra said, facing the spot the demon once was.
"I say pull her out of the match, Gohan. If this guy is stronger than Frieza, it wouldn't take him much effort to 'accidentally' kill her." Bra continued.
Gohan's eyes widened, fear now truly settling in, but again, the Kai pled.
"Please, just wait it out! What's one hum-" He froze, his black orbs locking with Yamcha's as the carrier of Alaster stared at him in return suspiciously.
The Kai relaxed and smiled. "My apologies. I lost my composure for a moment there. Believe me, when I say this, she will be fine. You said it yourself Gohan, if you interfere with her match, she will resent you. Let her have her match. Yes, she will feel pain, but you have my word that she will not die."
"But-"
"Gohan, I truly hate to say this, because it is unkind of me. However, I must." The Supreme Kai's eyes hardened. "It's one life."
The half Saiyans eyes shook. "What?"
"Are you truly willing to pick her life over the entire Universe? Ultimately, it's up to all of you. Most of you can easily overpower me, but just know if you interfere, you lose her anyway."
Bra swore. "He's right guys. Remember what I told you about Buu…" She sighed sadly when she saw Gohan's shoulders sag.
"You give me your word, right Supreme Kai."
Shin smiled warmly. "Absolutely."
Yamcha frowned, not likely how everyone just put their trust in this…Kai.
You felt that, right? Tell me you felt that?
I did…and it's very concerning
Right! He…after he stated to 'please wait it out' what he almost said next was…' what's one human'…and it's… you heard…and you saw!
Briefly, I heard it this time, the hint of malice in his voice and also the look-
Yeah, I can't explain it, he looked confused and shocked before pulling himself together.
...
Tapion, you think that the Supreme Kai has somehow cast a spell on the others?
I do not know what Kais are capable of, Yamcha.
Damn it, I guess we'll just keep an eye on him
Yes, we should. Let us just follow along and act ignorant like the others. He probably is not lying when he stated that he is not as strong as some of us.
Right.
And for the love of all that is holy, stop staring at him. You are making it obvious.
Noted.
Videl watched Mira carefully, her breathing-sounding horse which each breath she sucked into her lungs. Sweat droplet fell from her forehead, trailing down her cheeks, damping her tattered shirt as her athletic body shook feverishly from the amount of effort she had to put to remain afloat. Glancing at the crowd, she grimaced, knowing that her original intention of not making a scene had failed. Fortunately, they believed, thanks to her dad, that the things they were witnessing before their very eyes were mere tricks. Looking back at the stoic blue man, she knew what she had to do; in order to win this fight, she would have to go all out. Because…I-I have a feeling that if I drag this on, his power will surpass me…she thought as she clutched her working fist tightly.
A whirl of white ki formed around her slender frame, making those in the crowd cover their eyes to protect themselves from the hurling wild winds which Videl created. Trevor wasn't so lucky, the Champ's daughter's sudden burst of power making him yelp as he was sent slamming into a wall, dropping his mic.
Now at her maximum, she was disappointed to learn that she had only barely surpassed him, so he could still overpower her and get the win. She shook her head… No, I can't think like that. All I need to do is take him out quickly before he has a chance to increase his power-
And it happened so fast.
One moment Mira was just there, calming waiting for her to make her next move, the next he was above her, giving her a bone-crushing punch to her head, making her bite her tongue, the blood now flooding her month exploding from her lips as she plummeted down to the floor. Videl screamed loudly in pain as in her haste to protect herself from a full-face crash, she had used her injured hand to take the brunt of the landing, causing it to snap at the wrist.
Videl fell sideways, her working hand holding onto her broken one as her eyes stung and blurred while watching Mira touch the floor and stalked towards her. A rough kick against her stomach sent her body flying out of the ring, but the blue demon wasn't having it as he grabbed her leg before she could land and smashed her back inside, cracking the white tiles slightly. Videl gasped, her blue eyes glistening, her working fingertips digging into the carves of the ring floor as she pathetically crawled from the hulking blue beast. Tears filled her once determined orbs when he fisted her hair and hefted her up, the pull on the roots making her shriek in such a way that would break anyone's heart. She was then silenced when he punched her in her stomach, leaving her in a state of unconsciousness; he opened his palm and watched Videl flopped onto the ring, uselessly.
That should have been the end of it. In fact, Trevor, who was trembling in his boots and was ashamed that he allowed the match to continue, was about to make the call and announce Mira as the winner, but the words never left his mouth; the blue demon wasn't done with his 'toy' yet.
Gohan was seeing red, his eyes turquoise and his jet black hair flickering into yellow flames of fury.
"H-He's won the match! He's won the damn match so why the hell isn't it called?!" the half Saiyan yelled, stomping his foot on the tiles, crushing them. "I'm going!"
"Wait Goha-"
He snapped. "He's torturing her Supreme Kai! I cannot and will not watch this anymore!" he sneered when he saw the bastard plant a foot onto Videl's head and grind it against the torn tiles, his heart twisting when his girlfriend finally broke, tears streaming from her eyes as her face contorted in pain.
Shin threw a hand forward seeming at Gohan, but then froze, dropped his hand and took a deep breath, and closed his black eyes.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Gohan burst in a flash of gold, shocking everyone around him as he took off to murder the asshole that was playing with Videl's life.
Yamcha was shaking with anger and…confusion?
"Hey Bra?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you…can you see what's happening?"
"Uhhh yeah and I'm surprised honestly." Bra said, smiling. Yamcha's stomach sank.
"W-what do you see?"
"That Videl is doing pretty good out there! They are evenly matched!"
Yamcha paled as Zangya grinned. "Right, maybe this Shin is nuts! If little ol' Videl can beat him, then we can easily vaporize him!"
What the hell…is happening?!
I do…I do not know…
It's like they are seeing something totally different than I am…. Yamcha watched as all his friends talked optimistically, some going as far as high-fiving each other and praising Videl for taking the blue powerhouse down.
Looking ahead, his jaw dropped when he, for just a brief second, saw Videl pummeling Mira, before it changed back to how things truly were; Mira grinding his foot on Videl's head while she cried for help. He then looked at Gohan and well, just realized how slow he was moving. He could see all the rage in the half Saiyan's face as he moved sluggishly, revealing himself to the crowd.
And to make things weirder, everything around Yamcha was at normal speed. Gohan seemed to be the only one to be affected by the speed difference!
Clearly, some form of sorcery is at play here…. Tapion said, Yamcha imagining the former wielder of Alaster stroking his chin thoughtfully. Could it be this Babidi fellow Bra had warned us of?
Or it could be the little mohawk'd prick in front of us!
But I do not sense any evil coming from him…
Neither do I.
Wait Yamcha!
But the scar-faced man ignored him, deciding that attacking the Kai was the best way to find out if he was the person behind this.
He couldn't move.
Why can't I move!?
Yamcha! Call upon Alaster to aid you! With some of its energy, it should be enough to break through the illusion!
Right!
However, just as he commanded Alaster to lend him a bit of its power, making it hum and light up a soft blue, everything froze…even himself.
A long eerie pause followed after, the sound of cracking glass echoing loudly as Yamcha fell witness to his world-shattering before him, mirror-like pieces exploding everywhere.
And then, as he heard and felt the howling winds brush against his face, signifying that he was 'back' to Earth, the sound of Gohan screaming in rage rang through his ears, followed by Towa shouting-
"Mira, stop!"
Gohan stopped too, his hair turning jet black as he saw Mira remove his foot from Videl's head.
Towa scoffed. "Now throw her out of the ring and come along. We have better things to do than toy with a pitiful weakling, no matter how entertaining it was to watch."
Without question, Mira plucked the unconscious Videl from the floor by the neck of her shirt and chucked her right out of the ring, Gohan hastily leaping and caught the poor girl while Mira walked off with Towa.
Gohan sighed in relief when he felt Videl's heart still pumping, meaning he just needed to take her to his dad so he can give her a Senzu Bean. He moved to take her to the others, but a pair of medics came along with a stretcher. When they gestured for him to place the girl on the stretcher, he wanted to argue, but he knew he'd just cause a scene, so he did as he was told. I'll bring her the bean while they take her to the medic room.
He frowned. Mira will pay for this…he thought, watching the medics as they rushed her as carefully and quickly as possible to one of their medical rooms.
Gohan ran off to meet with the others.
"Dad, can you give me a Senzu Bean? Videl's hurt because of…." Gohan eagerly holds out his hand, his face twisted in anger. "Th-that monster…he's going to pay for what he did to her! I'll make sure of it."
Goku gave his son a confused look, but nodded and placed a bean in the palm of his hand.
This isn't good…Yamcha thought with a troubled look, eying the half Saiyan as he left to aid Videl.
It appears that no one saw what truly happened to Videl except you and Gohan.
And the kid was in such a hurry, he didn't even see the confusion on Goku and the others.
Tapion had no more words
While the ring was getting some work done to fix the damage, Kibito nodded to the Supreme Kai, who nodded back, as he then walked off.
"Is he going to wait in the back until he's called?" Piccolo asked Shin, his arms crossed.
"Yes, his opponent will be Gohan. I have a request from all of you." Though he couldn't see it, Yamcha could tell, no, he could feel that the Kai was nervous about something, he just couldn't figure out what.
"All right, I want all of you to listen carefully." Shin started firmly. "When Kibito and Gohan enter the ring, Kibito will ask him to transform and power up to his maximum. This will call attention to Towa and Mira and they will rush in to drain him of his energy. Naturally, Gohan will try to fight back, but I will use my power to restrain him."
Everyone immediately became alarmed, having second thoughts about the Supreme Kai, but he quickly raised a hand, signaling that he wasn't done yet. "When they gather his energy, which I will have Kibito restore after, they will most likely head straight to Babidi, who is somewhere around the planet and we will silently trail behind them. You see, I'm sure that Babidi has found Majin Buu's sealed ball and is currently in wait to receive energy from Mira and Towa, so he could feed it to the seal until it breaks. Buu needs a large quantity of energy to hatch, as it has been asleep for thousands and thousands of years. Do all of you really think that these two are here merely to have 'fun'?"
This did not settle well with the gang, especially for Bra for obvious reasons. Sure this can help them find Buu, but is this really the best way? If those two demons managed to get away and the group fails to pinpoint their location, and the energy is given to Buu, that might be all that's necessary to awake the evil pink demon. While Gohan isn't the strongest of the group, he is still second to Vegeta, who is (Well that is debatable since Goku is here now and they don't know how strong he's gotten yet). Bra might have taken Gohan or perhaps even Vegeta's spot if it wasn't for whatever the hell is happening to her body. Bra, however, does have her moments where she briefly surpasses Gohan, and that alone further proves that something is suppressing her power.
This leaves them with a difficult decision to make.
"Remember, I promised that Videl would be fine, didn't I? Everyone saw that as soon as Mira got the upper hand, she was defeated and tossed out of the ring."
Yamcha cringed, knowing that it was much worse than he was making it seem. The guy first tortured her before he threw her out like trash. I want to say something…but I can't bring attention to myself, especially if this…Supreme Kai is not who he says he is… damn it
Bra shook her head. "I don't think this is a great idea." She said to Shin.
Goku laughed, grinning. "It'll be fine Bra." He said, squeezing her shoulder reassuringly. "I'm sure we are more than capable of handling those two! And hey, if Buu is released, we'll take him down too! We Saiyans always like fighting strong guys, right Vegeta?"
The Prince answered with a smirk. "That sounds about right, Kakarot. If we were never challenged, we would be as weak as your eldest son, who has been slacking off for years."
"Aww come on Vegeta, he really can't be that bad!"
"You will see his 'maximum' soon." He turned to Shin. "We agree to your plan, however, if you try anything else, I will not hesitate to kill you, are we clear?"
The Kai swallowed thickly. "Yes, we are."
Bra didn't like how poorly thought out this plan was and was going to protest again, but when she saw Goku's comforting smile, she sighed, returning the gesture, though the smile was vastly weaker than his. "I can't believe I'm agreeing with this shit, but fine…and like dad said if you try anything outside of what you said you are going to do, we're stepping in."
"Understood. Thank you."
Gohan rushed out of the medic room when he heard his name being called for the third time. He had decided to stay with Videl for a while until he was called…wanting a little alone time with her (he had to leave as soon as her father came as he didn't want to waste his time dealing with the idiot her word, not mine).
Reaching the ring, he saw the big red man, the Supreme Kai's attendant, Kibito, standing on it, his thick arms lowered against his sides.
As soon as the teenage half Saiyan joined Kibito and Trevor announced that the match could begin, Shin's attendant said, "Gohan, I want to see your maximum power."
He did a double-take. "What? Why?"
"As you are now, you will not be able to defeat me."
Gohan tiled his head. He was bluffing, he could tell. But why not humor him. "You think so? Fine! I'll show you the power of a Super Saiyan!"
With a small grunt, Gohan's hair turned golden and of course, the crowd's eyes bulged out in surprise. Trunks's transformation earlier was so short-lived, that if they blinked, they would have missed it, thus other than in the TV broadcast of the Cell Games years ago (and maybe even Bojack's invasion), this was the first time they could see one of the golden fighters right before their eyes.
Gohan saw Kibito look at him in disapproval.
"This is…underwhelming. Is this truly your maximum?"
"No...I can go beyond the level of a Super Saiyan…I just don't think I'd need it to take you out." He knew he sounded like a cocky little shit, but he was just telling it like it is. "But I guess you want to make this a quick match, which is fine by me!"
The plates underneath his feet began to visibly tremble, sparks of electrical white and blue energy traveled around the area, gradually making the tiles levitate one by one.
"Remember! You asked for it!"
A/N: Hey guys! ^_^; I'm back with a chapter, which I hope didn't disappoint.
I know, other than Videl's canon beat down, that this chapter also focused a lot on Yamcha (meaning, his thoughts, and point of view, etc.), but there is a reason for that and it will be revealed in the next update…which won't be this year. Trust me guys, I'm trying to bring Bra into the spotlight, but she just doesn't want to come out now lol But worry not! I WILL forcefully drag her ass out! I swear! And I know this is very similar to canon.
I feel like I did well with the fight here, so I'mma go and grab myself a Christmas cookie or two…
Stay safe guys! I know that this year has been absolute trash, but hopefully in 2021 things will finally improve.
With that said, try to enjoy the rest of the year!
Later!
