Chapter 6: Fairies vs Death-Toys
Recap:
Yuya-san defeated Sora-kun, and as a result, he couldn't become Yuya-san's apprentice however, he became Yuya-san friend through their duel. Now it's my turn to get Sora-kun to become my real friend because I'm me and not because I'm Akemi. It's time for me to put my skills to the test!
Normal Pov_
"Are you ready, Sora-kun?" Naomi asked.
"Yeah, just don't cry when you lose, okay," Sora replied.
"That should be my line," Naomi retorted. "Also, this will be a regular duel, not an Action one. Are those terms alright with you?"
"Yeah, so let's start!" Sora declared, getting his duel disk ready.
"Alright!" Naomi agreed. Her green duel blade popped out, and she got into a dueling position.
"DUEL!"
Naomi vs Sora; 4000 LP Each, H:5 Each
"I'll take the first turn!" Sora said, looking at his opening hand.
Turn 1
H:5
"I summon Edge Imp Tomahawk from my hand," Sora started. A red-eye tomahawk appeared on the field.
Dark/Level 4/Fiend/Effect/ATK 1800/DEF 800
"Tomahawk's effect allows me to send an Edge Imp Monster from my hand to the Graveyard to inflict 800 damage towards my opponent! I send Edge Imp Scissors! Now take 800 damage!" Sora said as a blast headed toward Naomi.
"I activate Clear Kuriboh effect that in my hand by sending this card to the Graveyard, I can negate the damage I would have taken!" Naomi countered. The duel monster spirit made a barrier of itself to protect Naomi from the blast.
"You manage to avoid 800 points of damage to your LP. I'm impressed" Sora commented.
"It would be bad to lose LP when the duel has already started," Naomi replied. She was lucky to get a good hand at the start of the duel, but she's not going to say that part out loud.
"Now I activate the Spell Card 'Fusion' to fuse Furnimal Cat and Edge Imp Tomahawk!" Sora yelled as he fused a fluffy purple cat in his hand and Tomahawk that was on his field.
"Demonic jaws, become one with the sharps fangs and show us your new powerful form! Fusion Summon! Come out! Sea devil that steals freedom and pulls everything into the darkness! Death-Toy Piton Kraken!" Sora chanted. A big purple stuffed octopus with red eyes with sharp knives at the end of the tentacles appeared on the field.
Water/Level 8/Fiend/Fusion/Effect/ATK 2200/DEF 3000
"Now I activate Furnimal Cat effect when it's used as Fusion Material. I can add the Spell Card Fusion from my Graveyard to my hand," Sora reclaimed his sent spell card.
"I set one card and end my turn," Sora finished as Naomi looked at his field, specifically his set card.
"During his duel with Yuya-san he definitely was playing around with him in his first turn and got serious in his second turn. However it looks like he's taking me seriously. I don't know what his set card is, but even so, I need to make my move carefully," Naomi thought, drawing a card indicating it was her turn.
Turn 2
H:4-5
"When my Opponent controls a monster, and I don't, I can Special Summon this card from my hand! Appear! Brooke, the Earth Pixie!" Naomi said. A brown-haired girl with green skin wearing a floral light brown dress had a flower crown on top of her head.
Earth/Level 5/Fairy/Effect/ATK 1500/DEF 2500
"When Brooke is Special Summoned this way, I can add a Ritual Spell Card or a Ritual Monster from my deck and add it to my hand," Naomi said. Brooke took a card out of the Deck and gave it to Naomi as the girl smiled at the monster thanking her for the card.
"I added the Ritual Spell Card 'Dawn of the Herald," and I immediately activated it!" Naomi yelled, "I can Ritual Summon Herald of Perfection by releasing my Level 6 Majestic Mech - Ohka!"
A white and silver altar appeared from the field as a golden light shone down upon the altar.
"The declarer of fairies, be reborn into a new realm! Ritual Summon! Revive! Level 6! Herald of Perfection!" Naomi chanted as Herald of Perfection rained down from the altar.
Light/Level 6/Fairy/Ritual/Effect/ATK 1800/DEF 2800
"I activate the rest of Dawn of the Herald's effect! When Herald of Perfection is Ritual Summoned, I can banish this card from my Graveyard to add the monster used for this Ritual Summon. I return Ohka back to my hand," Naomi added.
"Now I release Brooke to Advance Summon Luna, the Night Pixie, from my hand!"
Brooke disappeared in a speck of yellow dust as a black-haired fairy with pale skin and yellow eyes wearing a white moon crescent and a floral black dress appeared on the field.
Dark/Level 5/Fairy/Pendulum/Effect/ATK 1400/DEF 1600/P.S:2
"Now, when Luna is Advance Summoned, I can draw a card from my Deck. If it's a Trap, I can set it. However, if it's anything else, it's sent to the Graveyard," Naomi said, placing her hand on her Deck.
Naomi drew the card without hesitation, glanced at what she drew, and immediately set the card.
"So, you drew card was a Trap Card, I take it," Sora commented.
"If it weren't, I wouldn't be able to set it, right?" Naomi remarked, knowing she had got her preparations ready.
"I set one card and end my turn" Naomi finished her turn as she was ready to counter whatever Sora had for her.
Turn 3
H:2-3
"Then now it's my turn!" Sora declared, drawing his card and smiling at what he drew.
"I activate Death-Toy Piton Kraken's effect. I can destroy a monster you control however, when I activate this effect, this card can't attack directly!" Sora explained. Piton Kraken headed towards Luna, brandishing their sharp weapons.
"I activate Herald the Perfection's effect by discarding a Fairy-Type Monster. I can negate a Spell/Trap or monster's effect activation and destroy that card!" Naomi countered. Herald's blast headed towards Piton Kraken as Sora's smile widened.
"Counter Trap! 'Death-Toy March'! When a Death-Toy Monster I control is being targeted by my opponent's monster effect! That effect is negated! Then I can send a Death-Toy Monster from my Extra Deck with the same Level as the targeted monster to the Graveyard!" Sora yelled, sending his monster to his Graveyard slot. "Since I did, I can Special Summon a Death-Toy Monster from my Extra Deck treating the sent monster as Fusion Material!"
"Show yourself! Wild ghost cave beast that bares its fangs at all! Death-Toy Sabre Tiger!"
Death-Toy Sabre Tiger appeared on the field right next to Piton Kraken.
Dark/Level 8/Fiend/Fusion/Effect/ATK 2400/DEF 2000
Naomi was surprised at Sora's move.
"Now Death-Toy Sabre Tiger effects activate! When this card is Fusion Summoned, I can Special Summon a Death-Toy Monster from my Graveyard, ignoring its summoning conditions!" Sora added.
"Don't tell me!" Naomi gasped.
"That's right! I Special Summon Death-Toy Daredevil from my Graveyard!" Sora said as Death-Toy Daredevil appeared. It laughed in delight seeing prey right in front of them.
Dark/Level 8/Fiend/Fusion/Effect/ATK 3000/DEF 2200
"Now Sabre Tiger has an additional effect! All Death-Toy Monsters gain 400 ATK!" Sora explained. All three fusion monsters gain a yellow aura as all of their ATK rose greatly.
Piton Kraken's ATK increased to 2600, Daredevil's ATK increased to 3400, and Sabre Tiger's ATK increased to 2800.
"All of their ATKs are above 2000," Naomi whispered. Her previous suspicions from before were correct. That during Sora's first turn, he was holding back against Yuya and decided to take things seriously when his turn came again.
"Battle! Death-Toy Daredevil attacks Luna, the Night Pixie!" Sora declared.
"Counter Trap 'Negate Attack' to negate the attack and end the Battle Phase!" Naomi yelled. A whirlwind ended the battle as Sora clicked his tongue.
"I end my turn," Sora grumbled.
Turn 4
H:0-1
"I activate the Spell Card 'Pot of Greed' to draw two more cards," Naomi said, drawing two more cards.
She tapped her screen and noted each Death-Toy Fusion Monster's effect, and nodded. She glanced at one of her drawn cards and prepared herself.
"Battle Luna, attack Death-Toy Piton Kraken!" Naomi said.
The girl looked scared, taking in the monster's appearance. Seeing the reassuring smile on Naomi's face made her worries disappear as she went to attack the other monster.
"Why are you attacking a monster with a higher ATK than your monster? "Sora asked, confused.
"To answer your question, I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Light Brilliance'!" Naomi yelled.
A bright light emitted from the card, blinding the Death-Toy Monsters as they felt their strength weakening by the light brilliance as their ATK became 0.
"What happened?!" Sora asked, confused why his Fusion Monsters' ATK was now 0.
"Well, Sora-kun, due to Light Brillance's effect when I control a LIGHT Monster, all monsters you control have their ATK changed to 0," Naomi explained. "So the battle continues, Luna attack!"
Luna blasted a white-yellow blast at Death-Toy Piton Kraken, destroying the Fusion Monster. Sora winced as he took the damage from the attack.
Sora:4000-1400=2600 LP
"Now Herald attack Sabre Tiger!"
The white-colored Ritual Monster blasted different colored lights destroying the opposing Fusion Monster.
Sora:2600-1800=800 LP
"Since Sabre Tiger was destroyed, Daredevil's ATK returns to normal. Now I banish Light Brillance from my Graveyard to draw cards equal to the monsters destroyed during this Battle Phase. Since two monsters were destroyed, I draw two cards!" Naomi added, drawing her cards.
"Now I set these two cards and end my turn!" Naomi finished her turn, mentally preparing herself for whatever Sora threw at her.
Turn 5
H:3-4
"This duel is so interesting, Naomi! But I think it's time to show you my trump card!" Sora declared, activating a card in his hand.
"Now I activate the Spell Card 'Death-Toy Fusion' by banishing monsters on my field or in my Graveyard. I'm able to Fusion Summon! I banish Edge Imp Tomahawk and Furnimal Cat!" Sora shouted, starting his fusion chant.
"Demonic jaws, become one with the sharps fangs and show us your new powerful form! Fusion Summon! Sea demon from the depths of the ocean! Death-Toy Cruel Whale!"
Dark/Level 9/Fiend/Fusion/Effect/ATK 2600/DEF 2400
"I activate the Spell Card 'Fusion' to fuse Furnimal Lio, and Edge Imp Saw that's in my hand," Sora said as the two monsters swirled into a vortex.
"Steel blades possessed by demons. Become one with the fanged beast and reveal to us in your new form! Fusion Summon! Come forth! King of beasts that shreds all! Death-Toy Wheel Saw Lio!"
Dark/Level 7/Fiend/Fusion/Effect/ATK 2400/DEF 2000
"Now I activate Death-Toy Cruel Whale's effect! When this card is Fusion Summoned, I can destroy one card on both players' fields!" Sora yelled, activating his Fusion Monster's effect.
"I don't know what you're planning, but I'll take the risk! I activate Herald's effect by discarding a Fairy-Type Monster from my hand! Death-Toy Cruel Whale's effect is negated and destroyed!" Naomi shouted, sending her card to the Graveyard. Herald destroyed Cruel Whale as Sora's smirks widened.
"Now that you have no cards in your hand, I can activate Wheel Saw Lio's effect! I target Herald and destroy him!" Sora yelled. Wheel Saw Lio laughed gleefully and shot a yellow-colored saw towards the Ritual Monster, destroying it as Naomi took the damage from Wheel Saw Lio's effect.
Naomi:4000-1800=2200 LP
"Battle! Wheel Saw Lio attack Luna!"
Wheel Saw Lio blasted a beam towards the Pendulum Monster as she saw the incoming attack with an uneasy smile.
"I activate my Trap Card 'Half Counter' now Luna gains ATK equal to half of the attacking monster's original ATK!" Naomi yelled. Luna's ATK increased to 2600.
"Counter it, Luna!"
The Fairy-Type Pendulum Monster got out her moon-shaped staff and blasted a beam at the opposing Fusion Monster.
"Not so fast! I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Death-Toy Rise' now Wheel Saw Lio gains 1000 ATK until the End Phase!" Sora added. The Fusion Monster's increased to 3400. Wheel Saw Lio dodged the attack and overpowered Luna, destroying her as Naomi winced from the damage she took.
Naomi:2200-800=1400 LP
"This is the end! Death-Toy Daredevil attack the player directly!"
"I'm not done yet! I activate Clear Kuriboh's effect! When I am about to receive a direct attack, I can banish this card from my Graveyard to draw one card! If the drawn card is a monster, you must attack it!"
Naomi drew her card and flipped it. "Yes! I drew Gellendou! Now through Clear Kuriboh's effect this monster is Special Summoned! Appear Gellendou in Defense Position!"
Light/Level 4/Fairy/Effect/ATK 1700/DEF 0
Daredevil's attack struck Gellendou, who didn't flinch and continued to tease the devil-like monster enjoying its frustrated expression.
"Gellendou cannot be destroyed by battle!" Naomi explained.
"She countered my moves. Doesn't matter. I end my turn. Now Naomi, what can you do with that weak monster whose ATK is lower than both of my Death-Toy Fusion Monsters?" Sora taunted with a mean smile.
"Well, Sora-kun, I'll turn things around when my turn comes because that's what makes duels exciting, right?" Naomi replied.
Sora's smile became soft when he remembered Akemi said those exact words to him whenever they dueled. Sometimes, he would lose against Akemi and didn't throw a tantrum because Akemi kept him on his toes. It was the same when he'd won, and it wasn't due to the enjoyment of winning the duel it was because he enjoyed himself.
The more Sora remembered those times, the more he was reminded of what he said. Despite feeling a sense of nostalgia, his chest felt heavy.
Turn 6
H:0-1
"It's my turn! Now I activate the Spell Card 'Monster Reborn' to bring back Herald!"
Herald returned to the field ready to send Wheel Saw Lio flying.
"Mana's effect when I discarded her to the Graveyard through Herald's effect. I can add two Fairy-Type Monster from my Deck and add it to my hand," Naomi said. Two cards popped out as she looked at the cards she added.
"I activate my set card! The Quick-Play Spell 'Turning of the World' by tributing Herald and Ruin, Angel of Oblivion from my hand to Ritual Summon!" Naomi shouted.
"Ritual Summon? I remember she used it in her duel against the snobby kid, Sawatari," Sora recalled.
The clouds parted, creating a huge vortex above the field. A blue light was in the vortex as another golden light was from the ground. The lights merge, creating a spectrum of colors.
"Powerful goddess of the world's end! Give hope to the ruined world and provide salvation in these dark times! Ritual Summon! Descend goddess of the world! Ruin, Supreme Queen of Oblivion!"
A more mature version of Ruin descended from the light, landing on Naomi's side of the field, ready to strike.
Light/Level 10/Fairy/Ritual/Effect/ATK 2900/DEF 3000
"Now I activate Mana's effect when she is in my Graveyard. I can banish her to reduce all Monsters you control ATK by their level times 300! Therefore Death-Toy Wheel Saw Lio's ATK is reduced by 2100, and Daredevil's ATK is reduced by 2400! Thus making their ATK 300 and 600!" Naomi added.
A white-haired girl appeared wearing a white dress. She blew dust into Sora's direction. The Fusion Monsters sneezed as they felt their ATK decreased greatly.
"Now! Battle! Ruin, the Supreme Queen of Oblivion attack Death-Toy Wheel Saw Lio!" Naomi declared, stretching her hand out.
The Ritual Monster blasted multiple colored blasts, and Gellendou decided to help out by throwing its golden hoop. The golden hoop became bigger and appeared in front of Wheel Saw Lio, who looked at the attack in confusion. The blast passed through the beam destroying Wheel Saw Lio, turning the monster into stardust. The Death-Toy Duelist was amazed and began to remember the good times he had years ago. Soon his LP reached 0, but despite that, Sora still had a smile on his face.
Sora: 800-2600=0 LP
The field vanished Naomi walked over and reached her hand out for Sora to take, which he did. He stood up and lifted himself off the ground.
"I didn't expect you to use a card like that at the very end, Naomi," Sora commented, pouting.
"Teehee. I'm just full of surprises. But now, there's something I want to ask you, Sora-kun," Naomi said with a serious face.
"Who is Akemi? What is she to you?" Naomi asked. Sora looked down and scratched his head.
"Well, she's my cousin," Sora answered.
"Y-Your cousin?!" Naomi repeated in shock.
"Yeah, her full name is Akemi Shima," Sora revealed
"Even though you two have different last names, you're related to each other," Naomi said.
"Yeah, her mom is my auntie," Sora answered, kicking his foot against the ground.
"I see. Well then, you must have a good relationship with your cousin, right?" Naomi asked. Her question made Sora frown.
"Not exactly. I mean, we used to, but not anymore, and it was because of something I said to her," Sora frowned, remembering the good times he spent with Akemi and wishing their relationship was good as it was in the past. He thought they could be best friends again like they used to be. He regretted what he said to her and wished he had the chance to apologize, but now Akemi wants nothing to do with him.
"Well, Sora-kun, it's not too late to apologize. I'm sure once she sees how sorry you are, she'll probably forgive you" Naomi said. "Sure, it may take some time, but it will be worth it in the long run."
"Yeah, you're right. I'll keep trying no matter how much she pushes me away," Sora said. "Even if she tries to.."
He didn't continue his words and shook his head, abandoning that thought.
"So Sora-kun, now will you become my friend for real this time?" Naomi asked.
Sora's looked at the older girl for a couple of moments until a soft smile crept on his face.
"Yeah, I think I can do that, Naomi-chan," Sora said. The two smiled at each other, closed You Show Duel School for the day, and went home.
Normal Pov_
Naomi was on her way home as she was chatting with Clear Kuriboh about what had happened today. She was so focused on her conversation that there were two things she didn't notice. One was her birthmark glowing green, and two was a girl standing on top of a building wearing a hooded cloak looking down at her as her birthmark was glowing white.

When you control a LIGHT attribute type monster, you can reduce the ATK of monster your opponent controls to 0. During your End Phase: when a Monster you control attacked this turn, you can banish this card from your Graveyard in order to draw cards for each monster that was destroyed in that Battle Phase.
•Mana
Light/Level 3/Fairy/Effect/ATK 600/DEF 600
When this card is sent to the Graveyard: you can add up to two Fairy-Type Monsters from your Deck and add it to your hand. You can banish this card from your Graveyard to reduce all Monsters on your opponent ATK by their own Level x 300.
•Luna, the Night Pixie
Dark/Level 5/Fairy/Pendulum/Effect/ATK 1400/DEF 1600/P.S:2
Pendulum Effect:
Once per turn: you can target a Trap Card in your Graveyard; and if you do, you can activate that Trap Card from the Graveyard however, when you do, it's immediately banished during the end phase during the turn this effect was activated.
Effect:
When this card is Tribute Summoned; you can draw a card from your Deck; if it's a Trap Card, immediately set that card in your Spell/Trap Zone. If it's a Spell or a Monster, it gets sent to the Graveyard.
•Brooke, The Earth Pixie
Earth/Level 5/Fairy/Effect/ATK 1500/DEF 2500
When you control no monsters, and your opponent controls a monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. When this card is Special Summoned this way: you can add a 1 Ritual Spell or Ritual Monster from your Deck and add it to your hand.
•Light Protection_Trap(set card)
When you take battle damage from a LIGHT Fairy-Type Monster, you can halve that battle damage you would have taken from that battle.

•Death-Toy Rise_Quick-Play Spell
Target a 'Death-Toy' Fusion Monster you control until the End Phase; it gains 1000 ATK.
