A/N: Yay! Got it up in time! Anyways it's the fic of the month! Which I wasn't able to get up last month... due to mental health reasons (read the newest chapter of Titania Falls for more details). Anyways... I hope the chapter, I knew even get close to the feels of the ordinal so I kind of bothered not trying... but you will like I you will enjoy anyways.
Chapter 17: Bye Bye Butterfree
The group was walking towards the next city. As they did Luffy brought this up.
"So are we going to talk about what happened in the last town?" asked Luffy.
"Nothing happened in the last town!" yelled Brock.
"I mean that was really weird." Said Luffy.
"Nothing happened in the last town Luffy." Sighed Nami.
"But…" said Luffy.
"Take the hint…" muttered Zoro.
Before Luffy could bring up anything at all.
"Oh look! Something!" said Misty.
And thankfully it was something.
A bunch of Butterfree flying about.
Also it's a good idea not to ask what happened in the last town… it was really, really weird that the group pretty much agreed to pretend didn't happen.
"Oh what is it?" asked Ash.
"Oh it's the Butterfree mating season." Said Brock.
"The Butterfree mating season?" aced Ash.
"It's the time of year when Butterfree fly over the sea so they can have babies." Explained Brock.
"Wapiti thought Pokémon have babies if you stick in a box with a Ditto." Said Luffy.
Brock face palmed.
"That… is one way for Pokémon to have babies… but not the only way." Sighed Brock.
"Where did you even hear that?" asked Nami.
"Pokémon Center." Said Luffy with a shrug.
Brock and Nami both looked at Luffy and sighed.
Brock especially hated that whole thing about sticking a Ditto in a box thing as that was an old serotype about Pokémon Breeding.
"That's not important, here." Said Brock.
"I think it's more of a tradition thing." Said Nami.
"What about my Butterfree?" asked Ash
'If you want it to have babies." Said Brock,
And so they decided to join in the Butterfree mating even renting out a hotelier balloon to join in.
"Hot air balloon are so weird." Laughed Luffy.
"Reminder we don't have any transportation that flies." Pointed out Nami.
"I keep forgetting that." Said Misty with a sweat drop.
"We come from a world where the only transportation is sailing ships." Pointed out Nami with a sweat drop.
Actually there was another mode of transpiration but she didn't know about that.
"All right come on out Butterfree!" called out Ash.
Ash's Butterfree came out its Pokeball and began to look around for a Butterfree it liked.
But it found none that it liked.
"None of them must not be its type." Said Brock.
"It's toe?" asked Luffy and Ash at the same time.
The Pikachus looked at each other and sighed.
"I get not knowing but Luffy…" sighed Misty.
Luffy was just confused at what she meant by that.
Butterfree flew back with a sigh.
"It's okay." Said Ash.
That was when Brock noticed a rather pretty girl in one of the hot air balloons release. Her Butterfree.
His eyes turned opt hearts.
"Butterfree! Go get together with hers." said Brock.
Butterfree gave Brock a very confused look.
"Look if you fall in love with her Butterfree then their trainers will meet and fall in love too!" yelled Brock.
"Buttfree... Butterfree free free…" said Butterfree (Translation: Pardon my pun… but I'm not going to be your wingman).
However that was when Butterfree noticed a particular Butterfree that was perfect, a strangely pink Butterfree.
Butterfree eyes turned to hearts and flew towards it, started to do a little dance.
"It's the Butterfree mating dance." Said Brock.
However the Pink Butterfree ignored Ash's, as it continued the Pink Butterfree gave it's answer with a slap in the face, dejected Ash's Butterfree flew towards the ground.
And they followed where it landed.
"There has to be a way for the Butterfree to notice you." Said Ash, "Maybe we should ask the Pokedex."
"Yes…" said Nami, "Ask the machine about dating…"
"Okay… that sounded stupid when you put it that way." Said Ash.
Butterfree looked at the three pirates knowing that the three were older and should be able to offer dating advice.
"Look I don't have advice. I have succeed a few men, but then I stole all their money so that doesn't counts." Explained Nami.
"Look dating not important to me… so I can't give advice." Said Zoro.
Luffy was just picking his nose, which made Butterfree sweat drop.
"Remember they're from another world where I don't' think dating is important." Said Brock.
Butterfree just nodded.
"I do have an idea though." Said Brock.
He took out a yellow bandana, and tied it onto Butterfree.
"Maybe you can show off how strong you are." Said Misty.
"Sounds like a good idea." Said Zoro as while he knew diddly squat dating he did know about showing off strength.
Butterfree nodded and so it was take two in trying to woo the Butterfree. It used various attacks but it wasn't working.
However that was when a helicopter suddenly appeared! And it was Team Rocket flying.
"Prepare for Trouble!"
"And Make it Double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all worlds within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket! Blast off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth! That's right!"
Everyone watched in horror as they caught most of the Butterfree with a large net.
"Oh no!" cried one of the trainers in the balloon.
"Who does this!" yelled another.
"Blaziken blockers!" yelled yet another.
However Ash's Butterfree started to attack the helicopter… which went as about well as one can imagine with a butterfly Pokémon fighting a helicopter.
Ash watched as Butterfree failed.
"I have to switch out with Pidgeotto." Said Ash.
"No don't do that!" said Misty.
"It's clear it's a pride thing." Said Zoro.
"I see." Said Ash.
"We have to catch up to that whirly thingy." Said Luffy.
"It's called a helicopter." Said Misty remembering their conversation about transportation earlier so she wasn't too harsh him calling it that.
"That's probably the best idea." Said Nami.
Thankfully the flight wasn't too bad and they caught up to the helicopter pretty quickly, which was an old warehouse.
"So how should go in?" asked Nami.
"I have a fun idea!" laughed Ash.
Before he could give them the idea, Luffy already broke in.
"Let go the Butterfree!" yelled Luffy.
"Oh man… it was going to be fun!" said Ash.
Butterfree patted it's trainer then went in following Luffy.
"Seriously you rubber twerp! How did you catch up to us?" asked Jessie.
"Nami's a good navigator." Said Luffy.
He saw Butterfree was already going to try to break the other Butterfree out of the net. As it did the pink Butterfree watched while blushing.
"Chimchar!" called out Luffy.
Chimchar smirked at Team Rocket sent out flames at them.
"You know… I was planning a really fun entrance." Said Ash as the other join Luffy.
"Oh sorry… I didn't know." Laughed Luffy.
While Team Rocket was distracted Ash's Butterfree broke the net.
Zoro cut down the doors of the warehouse so that the Butterfree could escape.
"You didn't have to cut down the doors you know…" said Misty.
"Hey! I need this!" yelled Zoro.
Misty sweat dropped at this.
The Pink Butterfree was one of the last ones out of the net however, James tried to grab it but Ash's Butterfree preventing… with the pink Butterfree officially smitten.
"James! We can't let them get away!" yakked Jessie.
"Oh right!" said James.
They headed to the helicopter, and took out another net to re-catch the Butterfree. OF course they followed with the hot air balloon.
However Butterfree this knew it could do it alone so it looked at the two Pikachus.
They nodded and Butterfree carried both of them to the helicopter. The two Pikachus gave an evil smoked before electrocuting the helicopter and blowing it up.
"Team Rocket's blasting off again .
They made it back to the coast, where Ash relapsed Butterfree, not just from it's Pokeball but permanently.
"Remember part of it is that it has to go across the sea in order to made." Said Brock.
"Yeah…" said Ash, "I guess this is it Butterfree."
Butterfree realizing the sad part of this nodded sadly.
"Who knows maybe we'll each other again." Said Ash.
Butterfree flew away with its new mate, while crying knowing it was going to miss its trainer greatly.
Ash cried remembering all of their moments together, but calling out to Butterfree more goodbyes.
And so with a tearful goodbye Butterfree was gone, to start a brand new family. But with this Ash had a new spot in the team. Who knows what it could be filled by, only the future would know…
