Chapter 18: Abra and the Psychic Showdown
The crew was wandering the forest… as usual… which shouldn't be a surprise anymore. But they knew one thing, they were near Saffron City, the location of the nearest Gym.
"You know you should just give me the map." Said Nami.
"you're not going to win." Sighed Misty.
"I know…" sighed Nami.
That was when they heard giggling.
They looked on ahead and found a little girl walking towards them. She wore a white dress and a hat that seemed to cover her eyes.
She giggled and then ran away from them.
"Hey wait!" yelled Ash.
Ash followed the girl however what he didn't know was that he was heading towards a cliff.
Which of course he fell off.
"Ash!" yelled Luffy.
Before Luffy could grab him, Ash called out Bulbasaur who used Vine Whip and brought him back up.
"You okay?" asked Luffy.
"Fine…" said Ash.
"Pay attention next time you follow someone in the woods." Said Misty.
"Hey look." Said Brock.
They saw in the distance Saffron City.
"Looks like we're here.' Said Ash.
"We could have gotten there sooner in a way where Ash didn't fall off a cliff sooner." Said Nami with a sweat drop.
"Just let it go Nami." Muttered Zoro.
They headed to town only to be greeted by a pair of women dressed like hula dancers.
"Congratulations you are the one Millionth and along with one Millionth and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th visitors to Saffron City!" said one of the hula dancers.
"Seriously?" asked Zoro cocking an eyebrow.
"You really think their suspicious?" asked Luffy.
This just made Zoro and Nami sweat drop.
"Come and get your prizes." Said one of the hula dancers.
Both Nami and Zoro were on edge about the Hula dancers as they went with them to a building.
As they entered the building, the two Hula Dancers grabbed both Pikachus and then pushed the six humans onto a strange floor tile that teleported them away.
"What the!" yelled Zoro.
"A warp tile." Muttered Misty.
"A warp tile?" asked Luffy.
"There's these tiles that teleports people to other parts of a building." Said Misty.
"So now we're in a room with no windows and no doors." Pointed out Zoro.
"Who would even do this?" asked Ash.
That was when a nearby screen turned out showing the Hula Dancers.
They began to do Team Rocket's motto as they ducked out of screen.
However they weren't pay attention to Team Rocket as Zoro was examining the walls while the other were drinking some tea.
"What are you even doing!" yelled Jessie and James as they looked at Zoro looking at the walk.
"The walls are steel." Said Zoro, "Can't cut through it."
"That sucks." Pouted Luffy.
"Pay attention to us!" yelled Jessie and James.
"Look we already get it, you stole both Pikachus." Said Nami.
Indeed both of them were holding both Pikachus in some weird lamp like cages.
"Yeah, well now you're trapped and your little sword friend can't get you out." Said James.
They all glared at Team Rocket.
"Let's just make our get away." Said Jessie.
That was when they saw the little girl from the forest.
"Go away little girl." Said Jessie, "This isn't a place for you."
The little girl just giggled.
Then her eyes started to glow and Team Rocket froze. As in literally froze. The little girl then somehow freed both Pikachus from their cages before sending Team Rocket flying out of the building.
"Team Rocket's Blasting Off again!" they yelled.
The little girl somehow teleported with both Pikachus out of the room.
"Pikachu!" cheered Ash.
"You're okay!" cheered Luffy.
However the others were just staring at the little girl. That was when she teleported them away from the strange room.
They found themselves in front of the Pokémon Gym.
"Hey! It's the gym!" cheered Ash.
"Seriously?" asked Nami, "Something strange is going on."
"Listen to her!" said a voice.
They saw an older man jogging.
"Sabrina isn't a normal gym leader." Said the man, "I wouldn't challenge her if I were you."
"I'll be okay." Said Ash.
The man sighed as he jogged off.
"We were put into one of those horror movie things?" asked Luffy, "This is starting to feel like one of those horror movie things."
"It does feel like it." Said Misty with eye twitching.
"Eh it should be fine." Said Ash like it was nothing.
That's exactly that type of thing someone says in a horror movie." Said Misty.
This just made everyone sweat drop.
"There's no stopping him." said Zoro.
"I know…" sighed Misty.
They went into the gym which seemed to be empty that was when they saw a room of people.
They were doing all sorts of strange things.
"What are they doing?" asked Brock.
"They are honing their abilities!" said a voice.
They saw a guy with a mask and a strange accent.
That was when he took out a spoon and stared at him and stared at it… he concentrated hard on it. Until it was finally bent… and since it took a lot of effort on his part he was breathing heavily afterwards.
"What was that?" asked Ash.
"You fool! This is a Psychic Gym, and the way to become a proper psychic trainer is to have psychic powers!" said the man.
"Well I'm fine with out them! All you need is strength!" said Ash who grabbed the spoon and bent it on his own.
"There is no way you can beat Sabrina!" yelled the man.
He took however to the battle room. They saw a set of blinds in front of them but couldn't see the Gym Leader.
"Sabrina, this pathetic trainer wishes to challenge you!" yelled the man.
That was when they saw glowing eyes from behind the blinds.
That was when the man was forced out of the room as the blinds were removed, revealing a young woman with long black hair and on her lap was the strange little girl was on her lap.
"I issue a challenge." Said Ash.
"Very well!" said the woman who was clearly Sabrina, "It will be a one on one battle."
"But if you lose you have to play with me." Said the little girl.
"Really?" asked Ash a bit confused, but it didn't sound too bad, "Okay… then."
The little girl giggled as Sabrina floated off of the chair she was sitting on and landed on the battle filed.
"Go Abra." Said Sabrina as the little girl tossed the Pokeball.
A strange brown and yellow Pokémon appeared.
"Go Pikachu!" said Ash.
Ash's Pikachu jumped down and joined the battle filed.
Pikachu looked at the Pokémon… and it turned out it was sleeping.
"Pika…" said Pikachu with a sweat drop.
Ash took out the Pokedex.
"Abra, the Psi Pokémon. This Pokémon sleeps up 18 hours a day. However it still able to use it's Psychic abilities while sleeping." Explained the Pokedex.
"Just give it a shock Pikachu." Said Ash with his eye twitching.
However Abra teleported else where on the battlefield.
"What!" yelled Ash.
"Didn't you listen?" asked Misty, "It said it could use it's powers when sleeping."
Ash sweat dropped.
"All right more Thundershock!" yelled Ash.
Pikachu did so, however, Abra kept teleporting away.
"Now…" said Sabrina.
That was when Abra suddenly started glowing and suddenly changed shape once it stopped glowing. It was clearly a different Pokémon.
"Hey! No fair!" yelled Ash, "You said it was one on one."
"Ash it clearly evolved, that's not against the rules." Said Misty.
But it does break the rules of the game.
Duh… anyways…
"All right! Pikachu use your best shock!" yelled Ash knowing it was the perfect way to negate
However the evolved Abra (which was called Kadabra) let Pikachu chose the air, however it condensed all of Pikachu's electricity and reformed into a terrifying electric dragon.
Pikachu began to run away however Kadabra made the lighting dragon attack Pikachu.
Pikachu wasn't in good shape.
However that was when Kadabra began to make it do a little using it's psychic abilities.
"Oh cute it's doing a little dance." Said Ash.
"It's making Pikachu dance!" scolded Misty.
"Oh…" said Ash with a sweat drop.
And so Kadabra began to slammed Pikachu into the celling and floor multiple times.
"Enough!" yelled Ash, "I forfeit!"
Ash went over and grabbed Pikachu.
"Remember our deal. Now we have to play together." Laughed the little girl.
That was when they all of them tolerated away and found themselves in a deserted town.
"Where are we?" asked Nami.
"I don't know." Said Brock.
"Would be new." Muttered Nami.
"Where is she?" asked Ash.
"I don't know." Said Luffy, "But we should look for her."
They decided to look around in one of the houses where they saw food laid out.
"All right food!" said Luffy.
Ash decided to check the bathroom and found someone in the tub.
"Oh sorry miss!" yelled Ash, "I didn't know this was going on!"
However Pikachu pointed to the mirror and saw the woman in the tub was a doll.
Meanwhile Luffy was choking on the food that he tried to eat.
Brock gave him the Heimlich maneuver.
"It's fake!" yelled Luffy.
"It's made of plastic." Said Nami looking at the food more closely.
"This place is a doll house!" yelled Ash running into the room.
That was when the roof was removed and the little girl was seen in the sky.
"How did she get so big." Said Luffy.
"She didn't' get big! She shrunk us!" said Misty.
"Run!" yelled Nami.
They ran out of the building.
They weren't sure where they were going, then they were blocked off by a photo of a happy family.
They saw the little girl, she lifted her head revealing she appeared to be a doll as well. And she was holding a ball.
"Come on let's play." Said the little girl.
She tossed her ball at them as she was using them as bowling pins.
However Zoro ran towards the ball and managed to easily slice it in half.
"What!" said the Little Girl.
Nearby Sabrina's eyes glowed they stopped glowing.
"Interesting." Said Sabrina.
"My you three are interesting." Said the little girl, "You're pirates from another world… maybe you can make for good playmates."
Everyone's eyes winded when she said that.
Thankfully before she could do anything else lese the jogger from earlier appeared.
That was when he teleported all of them out.
Sabrina's eyes winded at the jogger.
"He's back." Muttered Sabrina.
Back outside, they were teleported outside the gym.
"I told you not do battle her." Said the Jogger.
"Who are you?" asked Nami realizing something was up.
"Look it's not important." Said the Jogger.
"You teleported us out there." Said Nami, "Not to mention that you un-shrunk us."
"Look you don't stand a chance against Sabrina." Said the jogger.
"I don't care I have to get that badge." Said Ash.
"Stop this at once and go to another Gym… there's a lot I the Region. I've even heard of people getting 10 badges just to show off."
"Why would they do that?" asked Luffy.
"I don't' know." Admitted the Jogger.
"After that! I don't care! I have to beat her no matter what!" said Ash.
That was when Ash's pants suddenly fell… and the man started to make Ash do a little dance.
"If you let me do that to you! Then how are you going to be beat Sabrina?" asked Jogger as Ash
"I'm doing to beat her… no matter what!" said Ash., "Teach me how to use Psychic Powers!"
"You can't." said the jogger, "You have to be born with it. And you clearly don't' have those powers."
The man forced Ash down onto the ground, Luffy decided to try to help but Zoro stopped him.
"I don
t care there's other badges.. .after that… after that I have to beat Sabrina." Said Ash as she struggled against the jogger's powers.
The Jogger looked at Ash's determination.
"Fine…" he said as he let Ash go, "Psychic types have few weaknesses, but one of them are Ghost Pokémon."
"Ghost Pokémon you mean like that one from…" said Luffy.
"THAT NEVER HAPPENED!" yelled everyone but Luffy and the Jogger.
"Anyways … there's some wild ghost Pokémon in Lavender Town… in the Pokémon Tower. If you can catch one maybe you can win." Said the Jogger.
He then teleported away. The others finally helped out Ash while the Jogger looked on.
"I wonder… if he's the one who can finally save her." Said the Jogger.
Once Ash recovered they knew they had to head to the nearby town of Lavender Town, hoping that they could get a Pokémon that could beat Sabrina. Unaware of the twists and turns that would happen with that trip…
Next Time: They go to Lavender Town so Ash can catch a Ghost Pokémon. However it's easier said than done what with Ghost Pokémon having mysterious powers. Will Ash be able to catch one? Or will there be an unexpected twist? Find out next time!
