Just a reminder I'm playing around with storylines so some characters who weren't originally in the episode may pop up and others may not. Hope you enjoy! I promise more Stiles/Mads scenes coming soon!
Chapter 10
It had finally all become too much for Madison. Rory was gone, the guy she had been messing around with killed her, and all she could think about was what was going to be next. Melissa had a cousin in Washington state about six hours away that agreed to have Madison come stay with her as long as she needed. She'd miss her brother, Stiles, and what was left of her normal life but she wasn't going to be able to heal in Beacon Hills. She needed to get away from everyone that would suffocate her, treating her with kid gloves as if she was a crystal glass that would break at any moment.
Stiles strode into her room as she shoved another shirt in her bag, the annoyance and anger pouring off of him, "Are you out of your mind?!"
Maddis sighed and moved to her desk, rummaging through her drawers to find her journal and a few gel pens to take with her, "I can't be here anymore, Stiles."
"You can't just leave," he argued, going as far as to unpack her bag and tossing the empty bag into the hallway.
She crossed her arms over her chest, not bothering to grab her bag, "It doesn't mean it is forever, I just-"
"So, let me help you!" He cut her off, coming to stand right in front of her with his hands resting on the sides of her arms. "I will do whatever it is that you need or want me to do. But you can't leave."
She was quiet before she leaned forward and lightly kissed him, pulling away before he had the chance to respond. "I need you to let me go."
Scott sat in his room not even feeling guilty about listening in on their conversation because while a part of him agreed with Madison getting as far away from Beacon Hills as possible he also knew that if something actually followed her to Washington that he would be too far away to protect her. Stiles was his last resort as an attempt to make her stay but that didn't seem to be working either.
Madison was leaving Beacon Hills.

It had been over six months and so much had changed in just that short amount of time. While she stayed in contact with Scott and Melissa she kept her distance from the rest of the pact doing her best to get her mental health where it needed to be. It had worked for awhile, until she got a voicemail from none other than Lydia Martin that had her leaving in the middle of the night and temporarily misappropriating a car as Stiles would have said.
Liam stood outside of Stiles' hospital room, watching through the window. "Who is that in with him?"
Lydia kept her gaze on the two, chewing on her bottom lip waiting for the explosion from the Alpha that she broke her promise. "She is the person that can wake him up. At least I hope." At Liam's questioning gaze she took a deep breath and continued. "That's Madison, Scott's sister."
The beta hadn't heard too much about the other McCall but knew that his condition must be worse than anyone was saying if she was back in Beacon Hills.
"We promised not to drag her back here for any of this," Scott sighed, coming up behind the two causing Lydia to close her eyes briefly and offer her best smile. "How did she even know?"
Liam looked anywhere except his Alpha as Lydia answered, "If it came down to it and Stiles didn't wake up, how would she feel that no one called her."
"She was doing so good in Washington though," Scott watched his sister through the window once again conflicted on what was the right thing. It was something he had been struggling with quite a bit recently and Madison wasn't making it any easier.

"I know you never wanted me to leave to begin with but this is a pretty stupid idea even for you Stiles," Madison sat next to his bedside, her back to the window unaware of the audience she had. "Well, you got me back here and now you can wake up."
She stared at him, expecting a smirk or even his eye lashes to twitch but he laid perfectly still, the monitor he was hooked up to rhythmically beeping. She took his hand in hers and had to blink back the tears when it laid limp in her own.
"Come on, you know I'm not good at this shit," she reminded him, praying that he would be able to hear her. "You're the one who always picks up all the pieces when I'm falling apart and there is nothing I want to do more right now than to break but then I'm going to need you here to put me back together again, okay?" She scooted the chair closer to the bed, tightening her grip on his hand. "Wake up, Stiles. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up."
The door to his room creaked and she took a deep breath, carefully setting his hand back on the bed. Arms wrapped around her from behind, engulfing her in a hug that she so needed but wishing it was from the boy laying in the bed in front of her.
"You doing okay?" Scott kissed the top of her head before standing beside her, keeping a comforting hand on her shoulder.
She shook her head, "That depends on how he is doing. What happened?"
Madison could see the war in his eyes, she had been gone about six months and it was as if he had aged years. He sighed and shifted his weight on his feet. "What did Lydia tell you?"
"Nothing," she answered and immediately defended herself at his expression of disbelief. "She didn't tell me a damn thing, Scott. She was the only one who thought to pick up the phone and tell me that Stiles has been here for three days!"
Scott went on defense, having briefly forgotten the fireball that was his sister. "That's not fair, you needed time, and we were respecting that. You were the one who said not to call."
She waved her arm in the direction of the boy that held her heart. "This is Stiles, Scott!"
"He's going to be okay." Scott tried to put his hand back on her shoulder but thought better of it when he saw the fury on her face.
Madison rose from her seat, advancing on her brother. "Is he?! Because apparently no one knows why he won't wake up. His doctors have no explanation and unless Deaton is going to walk in here with some random herb voodoo shit and shove it down his throat then go lick yourself."
"I would never let anything happen to him," Scott promised as sincerely as he could but even he had to admit he felt guilty. It may not have been his fault but it was his responsibility to keep everyone in the pack safe and he failed.
Madison blinked back a few tears because she refused to cry out of frustration. "Um, hello! It's a little late for that, don't you think? He's in the damn hospital!"
Liam came into the room after being shot a warning glance from Melissa in the hallway that the siblings were getting a little too loud. "Okay, your mom-"
"I didn't put him in the hospital, Madison." Scott cut off his beta, continuing his argument with his sister because as much as he was trying to convince her he was also trying to convince himself.
"Well, you didn't keep him out of it either!"
Liam cleared his throat and tried again but he might as well have been talking to the wall as he was easily ignored.
"I don't know who you are," Madison glared at the beta, "But this doesn't concern you." She moved back to Stiles' bedside and took his hand in hers again before locking eyes with her brother. "If you are really a true Alpha then get your ass out there and find some way to fix this or keep running because if he doesn't wake up you and I are going to have a big issue."

The drive had tired her out more than she liked to admit, leaving after her shift and driving through the night to get to him. She fell asleep with her head resting on the side of his bed, her hair a mess of curls in front of her face. The door slammed and it woke her with a start, nearly falling out of her chair.
"I'm so sorry," Sheriff Stilinski immediately apologized, holding up the two cups of coffee he had and a bag of muffins. "I thought you might be hungry."
Madison rubbed a tired hand over her face and graciously accepted the coffee, "Thank you, but you know, I should be getting this for you."
"It gives me something to do. I've never been best at the waiting part," He admitted taking his seat on the other side of the bed.
They sat in a comfortable silence, listening to the rhythmic beeping of the machines he was hooked up to. Madison swallowed hard, preparing herself for the conversation she wasn't even sure she wanted to start. "Have…have they tested him for…"
"Frontotemporal dementia," The Sheriff finished for her, remembering his wife and knowing it was the only form of dementia that could affect teenagers. "He had an MRI yesterday and the tech said the doctor would be in to talk to me today." At the sight of Madison blinking back tears he continued, "But that's just to make sure. I really don't think that's what's going on. A few days ago a bunch of students got sick, especially anyone supernatural, the people that weren't got better within twenty four hours except Stiles."
Madison blinked in shock too tired to hide her surprise. "You know?"
The Sheriff shook his head with a chuckle, "About werewolves, banshees, chimeras…oh, yeah." He paused for a moment and then stared at Madison, "You're not…"
"God, no. Just little old me."
There was a knock at the door and a doctor walked in the room followed by Melissa. She smiled at her daughter and Madison and Sheriff Stilinski both stood, anxious for any update.
When the doctor was hesitant to speak in front of everyone the Sheriff waved away any concern. "She's family."
"Okay, well, his MRI came back clear." Everyone in the room let out a sigh of relief. "As for why he's not waking up yet, I believe that he was already worn down before he got sick. His body was already running on empty so when he got sick his body wasn't able to bounce back as easily as everyone else. I truly think now he just needs time to rest. If he doesn't wake within the next twenty-four hours we will run more tests but I don't think we will get to that point."
The doctor left the room and Madison embraced her mom in a hug before walking around the bed and hugging Sheriff Stiliniski as well. Stiles wasn't awake, but he was going to be okay and that's all that mattered to her.

Madison felt a hand on top of her head before whoever it was started combing their fingers through her hair. She smiled in her sleep, letting out a deep content sigh. The more she woke up the more it all came rushing back; the voicemail from Lydia, Stiles laying in a hospital bed, and she nearly fell out of her chair as she jerked awake.
"Hey," his voice was hoarse from having been asleep for so long.
Madison couldn't even get words to form in her mind as she captured his lips with her own. Demanding dominance and the reassurance that he was really right there in front of her; alive. He easily responded, holding her close with a hand on the back of her head keeping her close.
"You came," he smiled as they finally broke apart and she poured him a glass of water. He watched her hands shake as she tried to get the paper off of the straw. "Mads, it's okay. I'm okay."
She took a deep breath and stuck the straw in the glass, bringing it up to his mouth to take a drink. "You scared the shit out of me."
"You look good," Stiles commented after taking a sip of the water. It wasn't just appearance though, the stress was gone from her face, the old Maddie that he had grown to care for was sitting next to him, the spark back in her eyes. "I've missed you."
